Re: IVF with donor eggs

  • @rachelh0912 I hope all went well with the transfer and you were able to relax for the remainder of the weekend. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you!

@JamieH2000 Congratulations on your BOY! I am sorry to hear about the Pre-E diagnosis. I understand how aggravating it can be to have everything be so complicated. I always say it's because I am soooo special. HA! But jokes aside, I know the feeling of thinking it would really be nice for something to just be normal, right? I developed pre-eclampsia at around the same time and delivered E at 34w1d. It's tough being on high alert, but you are in good hands and as scary as it is for us to face the uncertainties of early delivery, you will be in the hands of people for whom that is routine! Keep us posted.

@c-town18 I hope you're feeling well and ready to meet that precious child! What a wonderful way to end the year! Best wishes for an uneventful delivery. xoxo

  • Thank all of you ladies so much for the sweet words! Transfer went well and we transferred one perfect looking day 5! We ended up freezing 4 more so that’s much better than last time already! I have taken it easy over the weekend and trying my best not to analyze everything! My beta is technically supposed to be on Christmas Eve but my clinic is closed so I’m scheduled to go in for beta on 12/26!

@JamieH2000 I’m so sorry about the diagnosis! Like @fivetimesnoluck said, you are in great hands and I’m praying everything goes smoothly and wonderfully from here on out!! How exciting, a boy!!

@c-town18 it makes me feel better that most of you were on the same protocol. I’m telling you, this board is such a life saver. Having you ladies is the best thing! So glad you’re feeling well and getting so close to meeting that sweet little one! OVer the moon for you!

@knottie7777 when will you get your results back? I’m so excited that we’re doing this so close! I can’t wait to keep up with your cycle! You’ve been so sweet calming my nerves during mine! Haha

  • @c-town18- omg so close!!! sending you lots of prayers for a very smooth delivery! Can't wait to hear, please keep us posted!

@fivetimesnoluck- i forgot you had pre-e too! Were you in the hospital for a while before you delivered or just the twice per week monitoring? How long was baby in the NICU? Its hard not knowing if I will leave each time I go in, but I will do whatever it takes to keep this baby inside as long as I can. just praying we can at least make it to 2019 in 2 weeks!

@rachelh0912- congrats on transfer! and having 4 to freeze is amazing! SO glad you finally got some good results and I am hoping for the best news ever for you for CHristmas! Will you test early or wait?

@JamieH2000 I was diagnosed at 31w. I was admitted overnight for observation and the 24-hour urine collection and confirmation of pre-e rather than isolated elevation of BP. That one night is the only night I had to be admitted prior to delivery. I got the same protocol - magnesium and steroid shots and the 2x weekly monitoring. The MFM specialist said I may be able to get as far as five more weeks, but my RE said I would be lucky if I got three and I got exactly three. E was 4 lbs at delivery (I also developed IUGR, which was not unexpected, but is what actually triggered my team to schedule induction, then on day of induction my BP was sky high so they even moved it up a bit). Being so small, she had to have help developing her suck, swallow, breathe reflexes for feeding before we could go home. She stayed in the NICU for 17 days and we brought her home on Christmas Eve. It was very challenging emotionally after all we'd been through, but I tried to keep perspective on the fact that I would be bringing her home, and some other parents we encountered didn't have that luxury. Her prognosis was always good - no long term effects, just some extra help in the beginning. You'd never know now that she was a preemie. Hoping y'all make it into the new year before sweet boy arrives!

  • @fivetimesnoluck- o how scary, but so glad she is doing well now! Its not a fun way to start, but you are right, they will get home eventually and hopefully be ok in the long run! Baby was 3lbs at 29+2, so hoping he will be to 4lbs in another week or so. They only do the growth scans every 3 weeks, so I still have another 1.5 weeks until that. Today i had a biophysical profile and he scored 100%. BP was still higher, but not high enough for them to admit me, so just hoping we can keep it below 160/110 since thats when I will be admitted again.

  • @JamieH2000 I hadn’t planned on testing early but I’m driving myself crazy waiting! I had TERRIBLE cramping last PM that worries me but it seems to be totally gone as of this AM so I’m going to try my best just to stay occupied and hold out for beta on 12/26!
  • @rachelh0912- cramping can be a good sign!! The tww is pure torture. Sending so many positive vibes your way!!

  • @rachelh0912 I don’t blame you for waiting till beta , I find that less nerve wracking than testing myself so I never have done it before

for my timeline , once I get my period in another week or so they will schedule my hysterscopy between cycle days 5 and 12 to confirm everything healed well after surgery . If so then my doc will submit for insurance approval which takes a couple weeks and then we can start !!! So hopefully will be starting my lupron shots about a month from now !  This has been the longest wait ever since I found out I needed the surgery at the beginning of July .
  • knottie7777 - Ugh, I bet that was such a long wait for you.  Sounds like things are all coming together finally though!
rachelh0912 - I have always had light cramping during my TWW after successful transfer.  I know it can just be from the progesterone, but I'm still thinking it's a good sign!  Really hoping this was your lucky cycle!

  • @rachelh0912 good luck today !!!
  • @knottie7777 @c-town18 @JamieH2000 Thank you all so much for the sweet words and good luck! My blood draw is at 10:30 but they won’t message my results until this afternoon so it will be a long day! I’ll let you all know as soon as I do! You guys are the best!
  • Ah I hope they let you know soon ! The anticipation is killing me so I can imagine how you feel 😂
  • Beta came back at 351!!! We are SO EXCITED! I go back Friday for a second beta and already so nervous hoping that number doubles! Thank you guys so much for the wishes! I put this in a spoiler because honestly I’m not very sure when to use these or not but better safe than sorry!

  • @rachelh0912- omgggg girl!! I am SO thrilled for you!! You deserve this so much!! Can’t wait for more good news on Friday!

  • Beta #2 came back at 751! It did double but a lot of ladies I see here had almost tripled by the time they had beta #2 so is that still okay based on the betas you ladies had?!

  • @rachelh0912- doubling in 48 hours is just perfect! It actually has 48-72 hours to double so I think you are looking great! Do you have one more beta or do they just schedule an ultrasound now?!

  • @rachelh0912 yay!!! That’s awesome news! Like @JamieH2000 said, it’s really the rate per hour that they look at. Yours doubled in 48 which is ideal! There’s a huge range of normal so it is best to not compare to others’ numbers. Keep us posted as you progress!

@knottie7777 great news! It’s always nice to make progress. The time outs can be painful. Excited to see what 2019 holds for you!

  • rachelh0912 - AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!  YES!  I was out of commission for the past week and this makes me so happy.  I think they look for it to double every 48 to 72 hours so you're right where you should be.  Enjoy it, this is the best news. I forget, did you end up transferring 1 or 2?  That is a really strong beta.  What a nice Christmas surprise.

  • Tap, tap, tap... is this thing on? Hi there. I've been a long time lurker, but new to posting on the boards. My husband and I have recently decided to go the donor egg route (thanks to a genetic mutation on my part that leads to poor egg quality). I recently discovered this board (thanks @fivetimesnoluck for the suggestion!). You all seem like a wonderful group, and I would love to join in the conversation. We are currently looking at different egg banks, and tentatively planning to transfer in late February/March.
  • Thank you ladies so so much! @JamieH2000 I have one more beta scheduled for next Friday and then they will schedule an ultrasound!! I’m so ready to see something! @fivetimesnoluck @c-town18 I feel much better reading your comments! I think it’s so hard to feel like this is real after everything! We transferred 1 but my beta was 11dp5dt since it fell around Christmas! I’ll absolutely keep everyone updated and busy asking a million questions about your experiences! Haha

@knottie7777 yay!! I’m so glad you have some dates to look forward to! I’ll be thinking of you on the 7th and every day leading up to then! It’s going to go great!

@avocado4one welcome!! These ladies have been a life saver for me throughout this process!! They are so wonderful and welcoming that it makes this whole situation a little bit easier!

@avocado4one Welcome and Happy New Year! Feel free to post any of your questions or story here, we don't have a regular check in or anything, but have a small group of regular contributors at various points in the process.
I am curious, if you don't mind sharing - how did you found out about your genetic issue that has affected egg quality?
You and @knottie7777 could potentially be cycling around the same time. Excited to see what this year brings!
@rachelh0912 Let us know how tomorrow goes and when your first u/s is scheduled!

  • Beta came back at 9658 today! My RE seemed very happy with it! My progesterone dropped to 15 after the put me on progesterone pills (3 orally/3 suppositories a day) so I’m adding back one injection every other day so I hope that helps! They scheduled my first u/s for Thursday morning! I’m so excited but so so nervous! I so hope everything looks as it should!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I don't know any one in real life that has gone through the donor egg process, so its been really nice to discover this group.

@fivetimesnoluck I definitely don't mind sharing - My egg quality issues are linked to a BRCA1 mutation that I have. I did genetic testing in my early 20s to see if I was a carrier (my family has a strong history of breast/ovarian cancer that is linked to a particular mutation). It wasn't until we were pretty far along our IF journey that I learned about its link with fertility. Due to its role in DNA repair, BRCA1 mutations can be associated with diminished ovarian reserve and accelerated ovarian aging (which seems to be the case for me).

@rachelh0912 Good luck with your ultrasound this week - how exciting!!
  • @JamieH2000 ohmygosh! HE IS HERE! Congratulations! You did great! I am very happy for you all! Navigating NICU and recovery is tough but he's here and in good hands, which is what is most important. Keeping you all in my thoughts as you forge ahead as a family of three! All my best to you! Keep us posted. Can't wait to learn his name. xoxo
@rachelh0912 That is great news! Excited for you to see your growing bean this week. You're on the way!
@avocado4one Interesting. I did not know about the connection between BRCA1 and DOR. I am sure that presents a number of challenges. I only learned of one person I knew in real life who had pursued DE IVF but not until I was already well on my way into the process. It's definitely not as common, but since I did it, I have had another acquaintance explore the process but I am unsure of where they are right now. I am not on Facebook where I am sure there are groups, but I do still use Instagram occasionally and sometimes I find people to talk to or follow through the hashtag: #DEIVF. Have you come close to selecting your egg bank?
