I had my 30 week appt yesterday and it was my first appt meeting a Dr and not a MW. They said I had to meet at least one of the Dr’s that way I could schedule an if needed c/s at 41 weeks if I don’t go into labor naturally before that. I really liked the Dr I met and she seems just as supportive as the MW’s for me trying a vbac. I officially have a c/s date scheduled for 2/11!! Which make everything even more real now!
@grebretso my office’s scale does the same thing! I weigh myself right before I leave my house and when I weigh there it is always 5-6 lbs heavier and it makes me so mad! Lol
@dcaron10@grebretso for this reason I have been weighing myself naked in the morning at home on appointment days and then giving my MW that weight. Lol.
Mw appt was uneventful, just the way I like them. Fundal measuring on track, BP great, baby HB 140 and fluctuating... she felt the babies position or tried to (anterior placenta), thinks baby's head is currently angled to my L hip, bum under my R boob and back pointing outwards... which she basically said means nothing yet because at 31 weeks tomorrow baby can still move around, flip and whatever.
Wish I could feel baby roll... havent felt it at all, and I imagine babys about to run out of space for that kind of fancy gymnastics.
ETA: Last US Dec 13, follow up from the placenta previa US... and next MW appt in 2 weeks!
Oh, and I didn't get asked my weight, even though I weighed myself this morning... Im up a grand total of 24.6lbs so far
I’ve gained about 25 pounds as well, and my doctors office scale also regularly makes me between 3-6 pounds heavier than my scale at home, but since it has been that way since the beginning I figure whatever. And my doctor hasn’t said anything about my weight gain so I’m feeling chill about it.
My OB’s scale is also 5lbs heavier than my scale at home. I mentioned it to the nurse last time and she said “oh yeah lots of people say that. Just go by your scale.” Now seeing everyone’s comments that theirs are also at least 5lbs off it makes me wonder...Are all OB offices buying the same crappy scale? Or is there a conspiracy to set the weight higher to just make us pregnant women paranoid about our weight??
I'm not sure about how much my OB's scale is off by, but as soon as I enter the room they have me step on the scale. This time I had my big winter coat on, along with my leather winter boots. I was like "Should I take off my coat and boots first?" and the nurse replied "It won't make a difference, really."
They always make me take my coat off, but boots stay on. My boots weigh way more than my coat! Oh well. As long as they don’t mention my weight it’s fine, I’m just worried they’ll say I’m gaining too much when I’m really not. So far they haven’t said anything though, so I think I’m good!

I take it ALL off, for sure, for the weigh in. I have gained about 15-20 so far, which is about what I was supposed to gain the whole pregnancy because I was already up there. Oh well. Pregnancy in winter = extra baked goods, just a fact.
Last 2nd tri/ monthly appt today. I’m up 29 lbs. I’m not THRILLED about it (I had bariatric surgery in Feb 2017) but spoke at length w/ my OB and she reminded me that I’m growing a human, that all of her winter pregnant patients gain more than her summer ones (@sjnsjnsjn - see!), it’s my third, and I’m pushing 35.
So obviously I did what one should when they’re bummed about their weight... I left my appointment got a peppermint chip shake from Chick Fil A. 🤷🏼♀️
Other than that, everything was good - BP fine, HB 155 (dude kept kicking the Doppler), I start my week of blood sugar testing next week (no typical GD test because of my bariatric surgery) and my monthly growth scans start mid-December.
Add me to the list who’s gained too much already! I was already overweight to begin with but honestly I don’t know what else to do 🤷🏻♀️ They usually mention it my appointments but at this point I’m just like meh it is what it is.
I've gained 12lbs so far and I'm happy with that. I'm on the big and fluffy side anyway so that's a good number for me. I'll probably gain another 5 or so by the end of this pregnancy if it's like when I was pregnancy with DS #1.
My Dr. keeps the scale on kilograms. The nurse asks me if I want to see it in pounds and I always say no. I can run the conversion if I want, but it is nice to not have to think about it if I don't want to.
Also, I think that your weight gain would have to be very significant for your OB to say anything. They are more concerned with too little weight gain than too much.
All of my OBs (except my favorite OB) have mentioned exercise but not weight gain so I guess that they aren’t worried about the weight gain but more making sure I’m staying active. Which I always just say “I take the stairs everyday.” I guess I should get my butt in gear and start walking everyday.
This thread inspired me today. I left swim class to SO and DS and I am on the way to my prenatal yoga class after a breakfast that did not involve Nutella at all. #winning
My OB made an odd comment last apt. He said something like "oh that's a jump. Have you been enjoying the Christmas treats already?". If he was referring to my weight, I gained 1.8 lbs in what appeared to be one week (it was in fact 2 weeks and the nurse wrote down the wrong number). I was so taken aback I didn't manage anything more than a laugh. Would an OB actually be concerned about weight gain on week by week basis? I assumed it was just the big picture that mattered and as far as I know, I don't have anything to worry about there.
@becks_726 with DS, they only watched my weight week to week because they were worried about swelling/pre-e. I'd take it as a one off (weird, rude, kind of gross) comment but keep an eye on any potential swelling.
So, after a weird appt last month - i'm being switched to an OB - my family doctor referred me far too late to an OB and i wasn't going to get into an OB until January 17th - thats only 3 weeks before my due date!
Luckily the receptionist at my dr's office saw my dread when i burst into tears in front of her yesterday and worked some magic. I love my family doctor but definitely would feel more comfortable seeing someone that specializes in pregnancy/labour etc. I have so many questions he can never answer. So anyways - onto seeing the OB next week which is my first "bi-weekly" appt.
I'm also doing my pre-admission to the hospital next week - so much happening next week!
