I got one November 14th. Last monthlt appt then I switch to weekly for "extra screenings(read non stress tests on baby)". Little nervous since this is my Glucose one...
I'm sort of in disbelief that tomorrow starts the 3rd tri for our 2/1 due dates.
I only have 1 appointment this month and it isn't until the very last day of the month This is my last monthly and then I switch to bi-monthly appointments as well as monthly growth ultrasounds (because I grow enormous babies).
No GTT for me (gastric sleeve patients are discouraged from it) so I'll do my blood sugar monitoring the last week of the month and bring it w/ me to my appt.
Regular appointment next Friday with glucose test thrown in.
So when does the 3rd tri officially start? My OB said 28 weeks which would be 11/10 for me (due 2/2). But I've seen other numbers thrown around too. You'd think I'd know this being that I've done this twice already...
Second anatomy scan and regular OB appt Tuesday (then voting after!). I'll probably schedule GD test and all my growth scans (marginal cord insertion) at that point as well. Fingers crossed baby girl cooperates on Tuesday and lets the tech see her spine and profile. So excited to see her again, but anatomy scans are expensive AF.
@BourbonBiscuits I paid less for my AS than my NT. They were both well over $300 each, after insurance (my insurance is shit and only covered like $30-40 each time). My AS took forever and was obviously way more detailed than my NT, so I’ve given up on understanding the logic behind it.
DS born 2/18/2019 DD born 4/1/2023 Baby #3 EDD 11/21/2024
@bellebaby221 I was also told 3rd tri starts at 28 weeks but have read 27 weeks too. So who knows!
I have my last monthly appt the week of Thanksgiving. My OB is out that week so I’ll seeing the midwife on staff (who looks like she is about 22!). I’m looking forward to it bc I’d like to get her opinion on my TOLAC/VBAC as well.
@bellebaby221 I've always heard 28 weeks. I think people say 27 because it's like the last week of the second tri and you're counting down...but really all the "week" counts are not exact anyway so who knows lol
Three appointments this month for me! GTT and two OB visits.
That is odd @grebretso both my NT and AS were pricy, but my AS was 100 more... (The amount that shows as submitted to insurance was 1,740...uhhh what?!!!)
@grebretso it’s so bizarre. We didn’t have a NT scan with this one (we did with DS and it was covered 100% though?) for some reason it’s coded at my OB as elective testing. So I’ve had 2 ultrasounds total (one for the AS and one emergency scan that turned into my dating US when my SCH popped). It’s obscene how expensive they are.
@BourbonBiscuits both NT and AS were covered by my insurance, just minimally covered I guess? I’ve had three ultrasounds. In hindsight I could have maybe foregone the first two, but my constant spotting in first tri combined with PGAL brain made me get them anyway. They were very much needed for my mental state!
I’ll need a fourth US too, to check on placenta placement. Thankfully they’ll let me have it in the first week of 2019 so the cost will go towards my deductible that year, which I’ll meet anyway since well... childbirth etc. Despite my insane bills so far (seriously, WHY are USs so expensive?!) I still haven’t met my 2018 deductible, and it resets to zero on Jan 1st. Did I mention my insurance is shitty?

TW: 1 infant loss 8/17: Our daughter was born 8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass 2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old 4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
Tdap vaccine on Monday, GD blood test on Fri, and my last monthly MW appt, on the 14th or 16th... can't remember, then I switch to bi-weekly. Shiza's getting real!! 27 weeks on Sat omg, I need to start shopping!
27 weeks is the last week of the second trimester. 28 weeks is the beginning of the third tri.
I have an apptment nov 13 for 28 week labs including the glucose test. I will also get a tdap that day then I will schedule another appointment for two weeks later which will still be November.
Did my glucose test today. Oh my god. Felt like I'd been run over by a truck for the rest of the day. I think eating low carb/high protein all day today definitely helped a bit though. But still. So gross.
I have one last appt with my family doctor on the 27th of November who has been doing my prenatal care then in his words `On to the higher ups`and i`ll be transferred to the OB department at the hospital where i`ll deliver baby, it`s all very exciting and a bit overwhelming, I'll be 29 weeks by that appointment!
I've been kinda quiet because all I have been doing is doc appointments. We have 4 next week. Pediatric Cardiologist, fetal echo, high risk doc for more measurements, regular midwife for check up.
I am super anxious. It seems like the high risk docs are trying to freak me out. I have great insurance, so I guess they will order anything that is covered.
No one has been able to explain anything to me. He's measuring small, but on the low end of normal. He is still growing.
“My darling girl, when are you going to realize that being normal is not necessarily a virtue? It rather denotes a lack of courage." - Aunt Frances”
@episcowitch the fetal echo is super easy. Had mine thursday and all was well. I think high .risk docs just like to cross all the t's and dot i's so to speak. Like mine did. Try not to stress too much!
@episcowitch I'm sorry things have been so stressful and that the doctors aren't doing anything to help calm you. In all likelihood they are just being overly cautious and taking advantage of your insurance. Sending all the good vibes your way
Thanks @hnbergeron@eggsandwich2019 My rational self is aware that my insurance is perfect for this sort of thing, but the PGAL part of me is asking docs at every appointment if they are concerned about the viability of the baby. They always answer with "We can't say for sure." I know that is code for we make no promises so you don't sue us," but I'm in knots.
I'm trying to remain calm. February can not get here soon enough. I don't care if we are ''ready,' I just want a healthy, full term baby in my arms.

@episcowitch- I am so sorry! That sounds really stressful. I would definitely take comfort in the fact that there have been no bad findings so far. You are right that lower end of normal range is still normal; normal IS a range. My son was "low birthweight for gestational age," which is a thing, apparently, but a kind of meaningless thing, and he is a perfectly healthy, and seriously giant two year old these days. These docs can have some seriously bad bedside manner. Please keep us posted!
I have my GD test 11/19 along with a regular appt. I’ll only be 25 weeks so I will still have another monthly appt. I got so excited seeing that so many others were switching to bi-monthly. Then I realized I’m due 2/28 and still have a long way to go. Blah.

@bww_0331 - it’s tough to be a part of the “caboose” so to speak. With my DD, I was the beginning of the month and with my DS, I was the middle of the pack.
I’m a 2/28 due date but have a c/s scheduled for 2/21. Still puts me at the tail end for all the appointemts and stuff. Solidarity, momma
I’m at the glucose screen now (must be the only person in the world who didn’t really mind the drink...) and then the biweekly appts start so 2 more this month.
This morning I have a visit to primary, who I now have to see all the time too, because my hypothyroidism is being watched - and meds regulated - more closely because of the pregnancy. And I have OB on the 19th for my 28 week. Too many dr appts!! I am so tired of going to all of the doctors!!
@becks_726 I felt fine after mine so I went to work. Everyone responds differently though. I made sure to have something high protein to snack on after and that helped.
@becks_726- If you’re talking about the one hour (because I cannot speak to the three hour), you definitely can go to work after. It’s just like you ate a REALLY sugary breakfast. I might bring a toothpaste and toothpaste though because I could not get the gross Hawaiian Punch taste out of my mouth!
I don’t have my glucose test until week 28! Seems late compared to everyone else. I schedule all my appts for as late as possible in the day so I can go home after. I hate going to work after a dr appt!

@grebretso I am going to be at 27.5 when I have mine, so I'm with you! @becks_726 I also have to fast, so DH and I are going in at 7am (BLERGH) followed by an 8:45 appointment with my OB. My friend reacted really badly to the one she had at our local hospital and almost passed out. I am hoping I will feel ok to go back to work after since there are lots of things going on that day, although 100% with you on hating to go to work after doctor appointments!
