Symptoms? lost my mucus plug, baby dropped so I’m walking like a penguin, sore hips, sleeping like crap
Upcoming Appointments? Regular weekly appointment on Wednesday morning with the midwife.
R/R/Q? I feel like I hit a wall at 35 weeks. I’ve had a fairly easy pregnancy to this point even with the GD and blood pressure issues, but last Monday all of a sudden I just couldn’t get comfortable. No matter what I do I’m tired and something is sore (hips, back, legs). I’ve read that it’s normal to feel like this towards the end so I’m trying to suck it up and deal with it... focus on the fact that we will get to meet our little girl soon. I see lots of prayers and foot rubs in my future!
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition that your family does? Or what is a tradition that you want to start with your family?
Hard to pick just one! I love Christmas! - we make a birthday cake for Jesus as our dessert on Christmas Day. - lighting the advent wreath each Sunday night before dinner and reading the corresponding scripture. Then on Christmas Eve we read the Christmas story from Luke by the light of the candles.

Me: 31 DH: 36
DD (14) and DS (11) adopted from US Foster care December 2016 BFP April 24, 2018 | EDD December 29, 2018
Symptoms? Achy back, short of breath, sore hips, I can’t walk very fast
Upcoming Appointments? Thursday, they will be doing the first cervical check. My last sono was this past Thursday and everything is looking good! Baby is still transverse, so they will be checking on that each week.
R/R/Q? Does everyone have their hospital bag packed? At this point last time I had everything ready to go, I really need to do that. The sono made everything more real for some reason
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition that your family does? Or what is a tradition that you want to start with your family? My family always goes to mass on Christmas Eve and then goes out for Chinese food and Manhattans. Now that we do Christmas at our house and everyone comes to see us, we do the same thing except go to a hibachi restaurant. Obviously I have to miss out on the Christmas manhattans this year.
@DLpanda08 I love your traditions. We are incorporating an advent calendar this year and have different reflection pieces and bible scriptures. It is so important to emphasize the true meaning of Christmas!
Symptoms? I feel pretty good actually. The usual heartburn and not always 100% comfortable but overall nothing worth complaining about.
Upcoming Appointments? Friday and then I'm guessing I'll go weekly. We had our hospital tour last week and baby class next Saturday.
R/R/Q? Not pregnancy related but we got a Roomba on Black Friday and it is awesome! I can already tell it'll be so helpful to suck up all the grass and dirt my dog brings in from the back yard and less work for me when baby is here = awesome. We named him DJ Roomba from Parks & Rec and DH and I talk about him like he's a family member.
Any STM used Nitrous during labor? Our hospital offers it before your epidural. I'm all for it.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition that your family does? Or what is a tradition that you want to start with your family? We generally go to Christmas Eve mass, come home, have dinner & Jesus's birthday cake and then open presents. Christmas morning we open our stocking gifts and have a big breakfast and lounge around all day and then traditional turkey dinner. I absolutely love not having to go anywhere or get dressed up. Christmas and holiday traditions are one of the biggest things I'm looking forward to sharing with our child(ren).
@sushilove15 we are packing the bag today! We have been waiting for some items we ordered on cyber Monday to arrive but figured it’s best to go ahead and pack what we can and add the rest when it gets here. We stocked up on my favorite stress relief lotion and pillow spray and lip balm from B&BW!
@lacroixliz I love that you call it DJ Roomba!!! Parks and Rec is one of my favorites! I swear my older brother is Ron Swanson in real life lol.

DD (14) and DS (11) adopted from US Foster care December 2016 BFP April 24, 2018 | EDD December 29, 2018
Symptoms? Like everyone else, sore back, sore hips... restless leg syndrome, tired, cranky. lol
Upcoming Appointments? Weekly appts with the midwife. I've been doing chiro and massage therapy, too, because of the crazy lower back pain.
R/R/Q? DH is finally getting into things. He voluntarily held his hand on my belly last night, which is rare, and he talks about doing things "because baby will need..." Makes me happy.
@sushilove15I packed my bag quite some time ago, because I hate feeling unprepared. I add the nice-to-haves as I go, but definitely have all the necessities ready to go.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition that your family does? Or what is a tradition that you want to start with your family? I didn't grow up in a super happy household, so we didn't have much in the way of tradition. I'm hoping to build a new, happy way forward with my own family.
Symptoms? Sleepless nights, achy hips and joints, a lot of mucus in my nose - but I also might be fighting off a cold, hard to breathe when baby's nestled up into my diaphragm, braxton hicks contractions,
Upcoming Appointments? Next sono and checkup on 12/10
R/R/Q?
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition that your family does? Or what is a tradition that you want to start with your family? I grew up Jewish so obviously didn't have a Christmas tree. I have really enjoyed decorating a Christmas tree with my wife for the last few years. I get more excited about it than she does! We collect ornaments all year long and I love the together time (usually post-Thanksgiving weekend) as we put the tree up! I love sitting with the lights out and tree on at night, it gives off such warmth and makes me feel so cozy! I look forward to continuing decorating with our son and just enjoying all those special moments together. My wife's family isn't particularly religious so Christmas is more cultural and togetherness-oriented for them. Also, since I did grow up Jewish, we light the menorah every year for Chanukah. So I look forward to lighting the menorah each year with our son too, and teaching him about all our traditions around the holidays. Our kids will go to Hebrew school and temple, because Judaism is more a part of my life than Christianity is of hers
Edited: I hit send too early!
My wife and I have conceived a babe with my body and frozen donor sperm through IUI, with medication support (clomid, ovidrel, and injections of progesterone) IUI #1, #2, and #3: Dec 2017, Jan 2018, and Feb 2018 - all BFN HSG Test: April 2018 - all clear! @alexandraseattle I’m sorry you are having a difficult time right now, this last stretch of pregnancy can be so long and difficult. You are not alone! Hang in there. Thinking about you
@DLpanda08 I am usually not one for anything feet related because feet skeeve me out, but pregnant foot rubs? H-E-A-V-E-N. DH has been giving me foot massages at night and they've been so helpful to ease the arch pain and I find that it even helps with the swelling too. Hope you get the same relief!
@sushilove15 I packed my bag last week and made a list of last minute items to throw in there that I left on top of the bag so DH and I (mostly DH haha) wouldn't forget. It made me feel a lot more relaxed once I had that done!
@lacroixliz Jealous of your Roomba! I was actually just talking about them with a dad of one of DS' friends on the weekend and he said they love theirs. We have a cleaning lady but between the kids and the animals the main floor really needs to be vacuumed every day. Might try and see if there are any Boxing Day deals after Christmas so I can snag one.
@leighbrek DH had somewhat of a tumultuous childhood and doesn't have many good memories of any holidays, let alone Christmas. It's been hard for him to get into the Christmas spirit but he's been coming around the last few years. It's really awesome that you want to give your kids the experience/memories that you may have missed out on. There's a saying that "the only thing better than being a kid on Christmas is having kids on Christmas" and I think it's totally true!
@rooonilwaazlib I have the same mucous problem. At first I thought I was coming down with something but it's been like 4-6 weeks now sooooo I think it's just pregnancy. I'm so stuffed up yet have a constant post-nasal drip which is super annoying. And my lips and throat are so dry from having to breathe with my mouth open.
@alexandraseattle I'm sorry you're having a rough go of things. The last weeks of pregnancy can be really trying mentally and physically. When did you say you were taking off work? Hopefully you don't have too much longer, now!

Symptoms? All the aches and pains. My feet/arches are so sore, my hips kill me during the night, baby is head down and must be low because my pelvis feels like it's going to rip apart every time I change positions, and the pressure/kicks to my colon/rectum are NOT FUN. Haven't been having the hours of MOTN insomnia that I was having so that's nice, but I have to drink throughout the night because my throat is so dry from having to breathe through my mouth due to the pregnancy rhinitis.
Upcoming Appointments? Massage tomorrow, NST/BPP and OB appointment on Wednesday, and chiro on Thursday.
R/R/Q? I am simultaneously happy and kicking myself for agreeing to host the big extended family Christmas this year. It's on the 15th. Kicking myself because it's proving to be a shit load of work and expensive, but happy because it has forced us to finish setting up the toyroom/couches/TV in the basement and purging and organizing all of our stuff properly instead of just "tidying" the mess to make it look more presentable. House will be in tip top shape by the time baby gets here!
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition that your family does? Or what is a tradition that you want to start with your family? We always drove around on Christmas Eve and looked at everyone's lights after dinner, and we read "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" before bed with both my parents, even into our teen years! I do both with my kids and enjoy continuing the tradition.
As far as new traditions, when my dad and sisters stopped coming over for Christmas Eve dinner a couple of years ago, DH and I started taking the kids out for Chinese food and we plan on making that a new thing. I love the low-stress factor and the kids love the Chinese restaurant we go to and asked if we can now go every Christmas Eve. We also have a whole family sleep over in the master bedroom on Christmas Eve which is really fun. We put the kids' mattresses on the floor and they sleep beside mine and DH's bed (which means I have to suck it up and sleep with DH that night too haha) and we all sleep comfy cozy together until they wake us up in the morning. After the kids go to bed on Christmas Eve, DH and I watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation every year snuggled on the couch as our own Christmas tradition

Symptoms: all the Braxton Hicks I never had with #1, a few real contractions I think... had to stop playing candy crush to deal with it peeing myself a little, hot all the time, and my pelvis is ripping apart inside me and I can’t poop.
Appointment: 12/14
RRQ: everything hurts and I’m dying. Not to be dramatic. Also I bought some decor for his nursery corner so that was fun
GTKY: so normally me and DD go to my family’s Christmases in another state but I obvs won’t be able to travel this year so we’ll be staying at home. Honestly it may be that we’re home every year bc flying with 2 kids alone seems awful so we may be making up new traditions here pretty soon
EDD 1/6: But, OB said we will induce the week of the 24th or 31st due to high BP. Also, the little man is currently breech so that may change a few things.
Symptoms: No longer sleeping. I joked with a friend recently that I'm only napping for an hour or 2 in repetitive increments. Crying about once a day depending on if I'm tired, cranky, hungry, or overwhelmed. Pretty much ready to be done being pregnant. However, I'm never going to be ready for him completely. Mixed emotions of super excited and scared shitless (#firsttimemom).
Upcoming Appointments? Next Monday the 10th and follow up U/S on the 11th. If he is still breech we will schedule a flip for the end of the following week. End of 37 weeks. Then probably induce immediately ish flip is successful. If not, scheduled C Section here I come.
R/R/Q? I still don't have an assigned long term sub for my class. Since he's breech I can poop and pee normally (a serious blessing in disguise. . . I remember the days). I found out if you are induced with Pitocin, you can ask to be taken off if you body responds like it should and naturally takes over. This was the original way Pitocin was used to induce. However, the practice now is to keep upping the dose to move labor along faster and stronger (ouch). Any 2nd timers have thoughts or experiences with this?
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition that your family does? Or what is a tradition that you want to start with your family? We don't have a ton of Christmas traditions. We will cut down a tree together and decorate it with all of our childhood ornaments. The tree is never magazine pretty. It's always multi-colored and full of well-loved decorations. We will bake cookies, watch A Year Without a Santa Claus and hang our stockings. It will be really fun to add new traditions with the little one in the future. My mom always hid a 1/2 inch tall santa/elf riding a reindeer statue around the house (we called him Elfie) to watch over us during December. We weren't allowed to touch or get near him in the event he got scared and went away. It was fun and very much an older, more discreet version of elf on the shelf. We may try to do that once the little guy gets a but older.
Hey @knottiec700ed71e5495a63....we'd love to have you stick around and join in, it just feels a little odd when we've all been together since April/May and all of a sudden someone new pops in who we have never heard from before. I suggest you take a look at the ***Read First*** Board Organization thread and consider changing your user name to something that is more recognizable so it's easier for us to tag and interact with you. Next, introduce yourself in the Introduce Yourself Here! thread so we are aware that there is someone new in town and we're not all wondering who this random person is that keeps commenting on threads here and there
Sorry you are having issues with your BP and I hope if an induction is necessary, it goes smoothly!

Thanks for the support everyone! It’s so helpful not to feel totally alone and isolated. I’m in my last two weeks of work and I hope being done will improve how I feel.
EDD: January 20th but my family members are always a week late so I've been told to expect that. I'm allowed to go to 42 weeks as long as he stays healthy. Yikes.
SYMPTOMS: MY throat is on fire! No amount of milk or tums can tame the fire within! Rarrrr. Hopefully that means lots of curly locks. US tech said he looked like he had an afro, and he better. I had to take some antibiotics for an absess tooth and I've been struggling with an off ph balance. Eww. I have started feeling a lot of pressure in my pelvis and he gets the hickups 2+ times a day.
NEXT APPT: Fri Dec 12th pretty sure this is my last appointment with with a two week gap. I think I go every week after that.
R/R/Q: Not exactly sure what rrq means but it seams everyone is filling it in differently? Anyway haven't packed my hospital bag yet I'm waiting till 36 weeks to do so it's sort of a goal for me only 2 1/2 weeks left. Once I get to 36 weeks I can deliver at the hospital I picked out. Husband has been super involved here lately and now is more interesting in feeling baby move hickup ect. It's hard with an anterior placenta
GTKY: MY family always puts the tree up the day after thanksgiving but I'm always the first and put mine up early... except this year of course. A: Way too pregnant to be fighting my vacume when it clogs with fake tree pieces and B: We got a real tree this year. Much easier! Except for the watering part guess who's stuck doing that I want to start a few simple but kid friendly traditions especially ones that teach about other cultures. I'm not religious but my husband is and they always have Christmas dinner. He isn't Jewish but I really think Advent calendars are exciting and teach my LO to accept all religions and backgrounds. Also a fun way to count down to Christmas. Im sure I'll find a few more i like. The hubs and i always open presents give out gifts then go watch a movie and eat at chinese buffet. That may not go so well with a 1yr old next year. So we will have to adapt and that's okay.
Symptoms? Stuffy nose, heartburn and frequent peeing are keeping me up at night. Definitely feeling the baby has dropped and getting lightning crotch, pelvic pressure, lots of Braxton Hicks and possibly a few actual contractions
Upcoming Appointments? NST & BPP tomorrow (have been getting them weekly to monitor baby's health due to it's small size) Regular weekly prenatal tomorrow as well
R/R/Q? Getting really annoyed with just about everyone everywhere asking when I am due and what the gender is. A) I don't know the gender and I mean I know the due date which basically means nothing and it could come anytime in the next 6 weeks so.....
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition that your family does? Or what is a tradition that you want to start with your family? We usually travel to California to see all my relatives every year. Obviously this year we won't be traveling so we will need to start our own. I find Christmas really stressful and don't like giving or receiving gifts and have been trying to phase that out of our Holiday routine for a number of years now. Maybe this year is the magic year that we can finally put an end to that as we have already told our families that we will not be participating in gift exchanges at all since we have so much going on with the baby coming.
I went in for my appointment today and ended up in L&D for monitoring because my blood pressure was crazy high again. I’m now doing my 4th 24 hour urine collection and I’ve been told to call if I have any other preeclampsia symptoms. The midwife said they would induce me if my protein levels aren’t where they should be when they get my 24 hour sample.
Bright side is they did a cervical check and I’m 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced! It makes me feel like my body is at least a little bit ready.

Symptoms- We're 36 weeks today and little man is still quite the squirmer. The skin near my belly button is super stretched out and hurts a lot when he pushes out against it. Definitely waddling instead of walking normally now, super dry hands and lips, lots of BH, baby still hasn't dropped completely so breathing is still a struggle. Nothing too bad, all things considered, but definitely way more uncomfortable than I've ever been.
Upcoming Appointments- We start our weekly appointments tomorrow at 36w1d and will have the Group B strep test done. I think we also start cervical checks, but not 100% sure. I have all my work documents for FMLA and short term disability to take with me tomorrow so it's getting more and more real.
Rant- The past month has been pretty rough. My uncle passed away the week before Thanksgiving and then last week I found out my car that had was rear-ended in September is totaled. DH is also finishing up research so he can graduate from grad school next week. I wish life could calm down for a sec so we can actually prepare for LO. I feel like we're not ready at all
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition that your family does? Or what is a tradition that you want to start with your family? - We listen to Christmas music on the radio in the car and usually watch Jingle All the Way sometime before Christmas. We're super excited to expand our traditions with LO!

Good news and bad news...
Good news is baby is head down now so I won’t need a csection!
Bad news is I have SHINGLES! Wtf. Baby will be fine, the concern is about after I give birth so she doesn’t get chicken pox. Obviously we will be cautious but my doctor hasn’t come across this yet this far in pregnancy so she is figuring out exactly what needs to be done at delivery. Apparently this is pretty rare. Ughhhhhhhh! I just hope baby is completely healthy. I will be sad if I can’t breastfeed but I know that health is the only thing that matters. This sucks.
@leighbrek I am not exactly sure what the odds of it happening are. I read somewhere online that it happens in 1-2 for every 10,000 pregnancies but I’m not sure how accurate that is! I’m 36 + 2 right now. There is a chance that it can clear up but shingles last a few weeks. Right now I have it covered with a bandage and my doctor prescribed me antiviral medication. I’m just praying it clears up and that I make it to 40 weeks!
@ashva@dlpanda08@alexandraseattle@kls123 thank you fortunately, it’s not as painful as I’ve heard shingles can be and it’s a small area, a cluster of about 10 spots. It sucks but I’m really hoping it clears up before delivery. Thank you for your moral support
The midwife called with my lab results and my protein was higher than they want it to be. That + my BP issues and they officially diagnosed me with preeclampsia. I’m headed to the hospital to be induced in about an hour since I’m 37 weeks today!

Any STM used Nitrous during labor? Our hospital offers it before your epidural. I'm all for it.
EDD for #2 1/28/2021
@lacroixliz I love that you call it DJ Roomba!!! Parks and Rec is one of my favorites! I swear my older brother is Ron Swanson in real life lol.
BFP April 24, 2018 | EDD December 29, 2018
EDD? Jan 2nd
@sushilove15 I packed my bag quite some time ago, because I hate feeling unprepared.
EDD? 1/7 (35 weeks tomorrow!)
My wife and I have conceived a babe with my body and frozen donor sperm through IUI, with medication support (clomid, ovidrel, and injections of progesterone)
IUI #1, #2, and #3: Dec 2017, Jan 2018, and Feb 2018 - all BFN
HSG Test: April 2018 - all clear!
IUI #4: April 15/16, 2018 - BFP!! EDD: Jan 7, 2019
Symptoms? I feel like garbage. I am super down and crying often. It’s a struggle to do anything but lounge around and zone out.
Upcoming Appointments? 12/14
R/R/Q? I’m ready for pregnancy to be over. I am not having fun.
GTKY? I’m not religious, so the only tradition we really had was baking Christmas cookies. I love cookies so I’ll happily continue this tradition.

My Rainbow Baby Boy born 03Jan2019

@alexandraseattle ugh sorry you're having such a hard time. Wishing you a good support system to rest as you need, and tons of Christmas cookies!

Symptoms: all the Braxton Hicks I never had with #1, a few real contractions I think... had to stop playing candy crush to deal with it
Appointment: 12/14
RRQ: everything hurts and I’m dying. Not to be dramatic. Also I bought some decor for his nursery corner so that was fun
GTKY: so normally me and DD go to my family’s Christmases in another state but I obvs won’t be able to travel this year so we’ll be staying at home. Honestly it may be that we’re home every year bc flying with 2 kids alone seems awful so we may be making up new traditions here pretty soon
Sorry you are having issues with your BP and I hope if an induction is necessary, it goes smoothly!

My Rainbow Baby Boy born 03Jan2019
Except for the watering part guess who's stuck doing that
Jan 2nd
Symptoms?
Stuffy nose, heartburn and frequent peeing are keeping me up at night. Definitely feeling the baby has dropped and getting lightning crotch, pelvic pressure, lots of Braxton Hicks and possibly a few actual contractions
Upcoming Appointments?
NST & BPP tomorrow (have been getting them weekly to monitor baby's health due to it's small size)
Regular weekly prenatal tomorrow as well
R/R/Q?
Getting really annoyed with just about everyone everywhere asking when I am due and what the gender is. A) I don't know the gender and
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday tradition that your family does? Or what is a tradition that you want to start with your family?
We usually travel to California to see all my relatives every year. Obviously this year we won't be traveling so we will need to start our own.
I find Christmas really stressful and don't like giving or receiving gifts and have been trying to phase that out of our Holiday routine for a number of years now. Maybe this year is the magic year that we can finally put an end to that as we have already told our families that we will not be participating in gift exchanges at all since we have so much going on with the baby coming.
Bright side is they did a cervical check and I’m 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced! It makes me feel like my body is at least a little bit ready.
BFP April 24, 2018 | EDD December 29, 2018
