My silver lining is that tonight I will be sleeping by myself in my own bed. My older DS and I are helping with a thanksgiving dinner for the homeless on Friday and DH is staying the night at my moms to go hunting one more time Friday morning.
When I registered for baby gifts for N, I went for everything basically as cheap as I could get, figuring babies don't need much and at the end of the day, it's all the same. Now she's 9 months old and I find myself wanting to upgrade - not everything, but some things where the crummy quality (or impracticality - I was not the savviest baby shopper!) drives me insane. Which is a long way of saying, for anyone interested: Ju-Ju-Be is having a huge black Friday sale! I just got a $125 diaper bag I'd been eyeing for $40!
Sorry to double-post, but also forgot to update: saw the pediatrician yesterday, who recommended we keep N's formula intake the same and work in a second meal of solids (while her weight is healthy, it didn't grow at the same rate as her height or head over the past few months - the ped said solids will offer her more calories to help with this). We started last night, and it didn't go well: she ate her second meal of solids, but then had no interest in formula later on. It's a work in progress!
ALSO also: Any STM's have recommendations for good books that explain Christmas lore to LOs? I love Christmas and want N to love it too. We're decorating today, we sing Christmas songs, and we talk about Santa and all, but N loves to read, so I'd love a simple storybook that outlines what happens on Christmas night! Elmo's Countdown to Christmas really isn't cutting it.
Declan has started standing on his own. This means I have about 3 weeks before he starts walking. Where has time gone? He has also started hitting and thinks it hilarious. My older two were wrestling and he crawled up and slapped his 5 yr old sister in the face. He slapped my sister the other day too. I say a firm no and take him away from the situation but he is laughing at me.
LO has started pulling up on furniture and his crib. He recently starting hitting as well. The first time I cracked up because he slapped my MIL right in the face(for some reason he is not a fan of her). He has hit a few other people too, myself included. I do the same, a stern no and remove from the situation. Idk where he learned to hit lol
@mccurleya - Maeve isn’t crawling either. Happy to sit and watch or roll to where she wants to go @megpeg and @sgrn18 Maeve karate chops - the first few times I thought she just wasn’t in control of her movements - then one night she was frustrated with me and chopped at me. A stern “no, we don’t do that”. I know she doesn’t understand the meaning - but she understood the tone.
So we were watching DH outside from the glass door and I gently bumped Nate's head on the glass and said "boop" and he cracked up and started doing it himself. That's the first time he's ever done anything on purpose. I sure hope he doesn't start hitting.
Also, he'll copy every thing we say except mama. He'll copy a cough, a laugh, clearing of the throat, even copied a tune to a made up song. But I say mama? He shakes his head no or says dada....haha
So LO started putting his ear to his shoulder this morning. Its only the left ear and he only does it when he is eating. He has also been super fussy the past 2 days too. Im taking him to the pediatrician tomorrow really hoping its not a ear infection 😞
@sgrn18 me too! It could also be teething pain, which isn’t fun either.
ahh, I got sucked back into FB. I said i’d never go back, but went to get pictures and realized I was missing out on people I wouldn’t really have the opportunity to keep up with in everyday life.
@DDRRT1982 he has been chewing his fingers with a passion this week so im hoping thats what it is but i dont see or feel anything coming in.. i feel like im being paranoid lol
For Facebook, I WISH I would just ditch it but I keep up with family (both mine and MHs)on there. It can be a black hole though lol
@DDRRT1982 it’s so hard to not do it. I miss seeing my cousins kids that don’t live near us. I block out the drama. i now have severe tendinitis. My thumb locked up yesterday and wouldn’t move. I’m now in a brace. Mostly from carrying Declan all the time.
@DDRRT1982 I had to delete mine. It sucked me in and only made me annoyed or angry. I'm so much happier without it and I don't miss looking at people because we never kept in touch with it anyway.
I was very happy without it, because I had better balance, no political angst, and focused more on in real life relationships. It’s just hard when you realize there are people you genuinely want to keep up with that FB makes that easier. I guess there are really no rules. I don’t have to stay if it becomes something that isn’t enjoyable. In the time being, I need to figure out how to get all 1234667889653 pictures off my FB so they aren’t gone forever.
@mccurleya we have now decided that it is tendinitis and my thumb was dislocated. I have no idea how it happened but I thought I was going to die when DH reset it.
Yay!!! For no ear infection @sgrn18. I didn’t realize how much teething would do to the LOs feel better @megpeg hopefully the pain is all together gone soon
Well... we made it thru the big 7.0 earthquake here in Alaska. Babies could care less and it was mom and dad freaked out more than anything. Especially when it took me 3 hrs to get back to my family. Good reminder to have an emergency kit that has infant water to make formula as needed. We are on well water, but no electricity meant no water for a few hours. All ok here now and just spending time with family this weekend.

@megpeg how does that happen!?
@megpeg thats sounds painful!!! Yikes! Any better today?
feel better @megpeg hopefully the pain is all together gone soon
Eta: good point about the infant water too.
