@mayoduck I’ve tried pregnancy pillow, wrist splints, icing my wrists, etc. The wrist splints helped some, but it does seem to be getting worse. My doc said it won’t go away until after baby is born. Thanks for the suggestion though!
@purpleteacher82 ah, well, figured it couldn't hurt to share! I'm dealing with chronic hip pain myself, which the pillow has not been enough to combat. I hate when people say "Sleep now, because you won't be able to when the baby comes!" You know, I'd love to, but seems like that's just not in the cards. Sorry you're in so much discomfort! At least we have this community where we can all be miserable together?
@mayoduck Yes! Misery loves company! Luckily, it’s not affecting my sleep too much. (I’m also taking unisom at night, which helps.) I notice most between 4am and 6am. It’s staring to happen more during the day which is annoying. I ordered a compression type sleeve from amazon, so I will see what that does! Sorry about your hip pain. That is definitely annoying too. I don’t think the sleep is going to improve as we get bigger and more uncomfortable. I just think of it as baby training. 😉
MH wanted to sleep in this morning. My hips were aching so I rolled over and that put too much pressure on my bladder. I tried to sneak out of bed to pee, slipped on the edge of my blanket and almost fell (I caught myself on the edge of the bed). In the process I knocked over a glass of water. As I was cleaning it up I got a nosebleed. It was amazing. And clearly woke up my husband who was not impressed. It was like a pregnancy whirlwind came through the bedroom!

@3rdtime_charmed What a jarring way to wake up! I’m glad you were able to catch yourself, and hope the rest of your day is safe from the pregnancy whirlwind 😝
@3rdtime_charmed oh no! That is a terrible way to start the day! Hope your day got better from there!
AFM I’m starting to get shoulder pain from being on my left side so much at night (happened in postpartum last time after weeks of bedrest). I’m with you on people saying “sleep now while you can” ha! That is such a joke to me! I found that pregnancy sleep was way worse than sleep with a newborn around. I’ll take trying to sleep while taking care of a baby over trying to sleep while pregnant anyway just my 2 cents!
I've got heartburn as well. Going to start giving kefir a try. Another symptom this month has been sharp tailbone pain if I twist or bend the wrong way. Also had a yeast infection last week accompanied by pelvic pain. Went to the doctor to figure out what was going on with that because walking and standing just hurt. Why is it that the annoying illnesses like a cold or a yeast infection are so much more acute and difficult to manage during pregnancy? 🤦♀️
@3rdtime_charmed your post made me laugh! Thanks for sharing your morning.
@3rdtime_charmed I'm sorry you had a rough morning and I'm glad you didn't get too hurt! With that being said, this also made me laugh pretty hard. I was raised on cartoons and your story painted a very cartoonish image in my head!
@mayoduck I have been sleeping with a pregnancy pillow since about 15 weeks or so. It definitely hasn't helped the carpal tunnel. And I feel you on the hip pain. The pillow tucked between my knees doesn't seem to help either. The only position that is really comfortable for any length of time is on my back but then I wake up with one whole side in pain. So yeah... I feel ya on the sleeping thing.
I'm right there with all of you in these symptoms lately!
Heartburn everyday where I am needing to take Pepcid now and gas that gets worse whenever LO starts moving around at night. Omg, it's been horrible! I have to laugh about it but sometimes I'm just dying feeling horrible for my DH. Just being cringeworthy honest here.
I can't get comfortable at night to sleep even with a pregnancy body pillow and extra pillows to prop me up.
Braxton hicks kicked in like crazy and alot of rlp going on, too. I've been making a serious effort to hydrate all the time but then I'll get to hurting and cramping from the full bladder and LO moving around. The constantly running to the restroom makes getting out of the house to run errands or do anything a real pain! Haha! But the extra water and changing positions does seem to make it lessen or ease up to where I'm not in pain or serious discomfort. Sometimes it's just massaging my belly to get my little man to move and they'll go away. I've also had old joint/bone injuries (had a foot fracture a year ago that was real bad) that are flaring up as if I'd just re-injured them. All of this has me feeling incredibly physically awkward most of the time. I do not remember having so many aches and pains and cramps with my first! However, that was 10 years ago and I'd forgotten the majority of what pregnancy was really like. Ay yi yi.
Hungry -- all the time!
I have enjoyed reading all of you ladies posts here! Some had me going "Yes, omg!' others laughing like crazy and others "I feel your pain!"
Is anyone else feeling congested all the time? I don't have a cold for sure and this has been going on for a few weeks already With my first son I was pregnant during the summer and I definitely don't remember such a symptom. Tell me I'm not alone!
Thank you for confirming!!! I don't have allergies, so this is new and uncommon. I'll also ask my midwife at my next appointment if there are any ways to keep the congestion at bay.
@mihaelams1 I get congestion too. I use vicks and a humidifier at night and drink lots of water and it helps. I also have a saline spray that I use. Between swollen sinus and cold winter air, I'm very sniffly and stuffed up.
DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
@mihaelams1 the congestion has just started for me within the last week or so. Also, I feel like every time I blow my nose there's blood. Not great. We are getting out the humidifier tonight.
stuffy nose here too. My crotch bones hurt (don't know how else to describe it) especially when i'm standing up. friendly reminder to do your kegels i guess!
I’m getting really annoyed by how many times a night I have to get up to pee. I know it’s only going get worse. I just want to sleep through the night again! (Although, I know that may not happen for many years after LO is born.)
Yesterday I had the frustrating experience too full, yet still hungry at the same time. I think I also experienced the lovely ‘lightning crotch’ that some have mentioned...it’s the only way to describe the brief, hot shooting pains I felt down below! I think baby is having a growth spurt, because all of a sudden thins belly feels heavier, and it’s more difficulty to bend, twist and just move my body. I tend to wake up each day feeling pretty comfortable and pain-free, but by the time evening rolls around, my back is killing me and I feel about 100 years old! We’re going on a babymoon this week and hoping to do some mellow hiking/climbing...here’s hoping I can find the energy! Hopefully I’ll feel up to it since I won’t be doing all the usual day to day stuff...fingers crossed!
@hlmtnmama I'm also suddenly feeling more achey and a lot less mobile, which is not fun and I'm guessing will only get worse. I still do a lot of shorter hikes but I've just been extremely careful and realize I can't trust my body the way I used to, especially because I'm in the northeast and all of the leaves just dropped making trails difficult to see and slippery. I just go slow, make sure I never hike out too far, and take breaks if I start getting any back/abdominal pains. I've lowered expectations for myself and just try to enjoy the slower pace! I hope you're able to enjoy the babymoon!
New symptoms I’ve noticed this week are my hands are achy. I haven’t been typing as much because I’ve started using a dictation tool for work documentation to increase workflow. So not sure why that is such a bother all of a sudden. I also started to get a rash on my stomach. I had PUPPs postpartum last time and this doesn’t seem extreme like that was. I noticed it the end of last week and then it seemed to go away. Now it’s back and really bothersome today.
@novelblessings Coming from a fellow PUPPS sufferer, I pray for you it's not that! That's one of my biggest concerns for this pregnancy - whether PUPPS will make its appearance or spare me this time around. It was awful! I think for me it started at around 36 weeks, and it got worse postpartum before eventually going away.
@mihaelams1 I was thinking it was kind of early to get it. Everything I read says third trimester or postpartum. I was the rare person who developed it postpartum. I was induced and delivered early last time, so not sure if that played a role last time in just being postpartum. I remember it was awful and went on for weeks! I am praying it's not and that it's just irritation from my leggings or something else random. I can't imagine being itchy for the next three months-ish!!
I have know for awhile that this LO is right on the inside of my abdomen I’ve been feeling movement since very early on. My midwife confirmed at my last appointment that the placenta is “most definitely posterior and you have probably been feeling baby move a lot because he is right there!” I love that DH and I are able to feel him so easily, even my mom felt him move at thanksgiving. However when I stand up, bend over, or move a lot sometimes it feels like he’s literally going to fall out of my abdomen (not my crotch he’s not low like that yet). It gets very uncomfortable and I know it’s literally impossible and I probably sound super crazy! But it’s very uncomfortable when it happens and it’s happening more and more frequently. I don’t go back to my midwife until mid-December. Is anyone experiencing this or have you in other pregnancies?
Well, shifted (rather suddenly) from always hungry to being uncomfortably full really easily... Not loving this new reality, especially considering I’ve got 16+ weeks left! (Also, how is it just 16 weeks 😳)
Holy BH! I had a few in a row tonight that were so painful I had to lay down for 10 minutes! I had them last pregnancy, but they never hurt, and I was mostly unaware of them except for just tightening. Now I get what you ladies have been talking about! Ouch!
Does anyone have any suggestions for pelvic pain/spd? I'm pretty sure this pain is spd and it's driving me nuts! My pubic bone aches right down the centre (though earlier this week it was aching on the left side only, and down into my left thigh - maybe nerve pain?) and when it gets bad, it makes it pretty hard to walk. When the pain is bad I have a hard time fully straightening up - something feels very tight/stretched over my pubic bone. I'm not really sure if the pain is in the muscle/ligament/nerve running across my pubic bone, or if the pain is in the bone itself. I'm sorry, I'm terrible at explaining myself! I'm just so annoyed that at only 26 weeks, I can barely hobble around I didn't have this issue during my first pregnancy. I've ordered a pelvic support belt on Amazon so hopefully that will provide some relief. Any other tips? Ice? Heat? Thanks guys!
@laur84ns If you type “spd exercises” into YouTube you will find some videos that demonstrate. I found this really helpful when mine was bothering me earlier in my pregnancy.
Not sure what kind of exercise you normally do, but if you are running or doing any high impact exercise this pain may be an indicator that you need to slow down or reduce intensity, or maybe even stop. For me this was how I knew it was time to stop running.
I hope you feel better soon. It’s a really uncomfortable feeling!
@laur84ns I had the same problem last pregnancy about this time (not nearly as bad this time). Pelvic support belt helped slightly, and at least made it possible to get around without too much pain. I found that swimming really helped me.
@LoboandSuperNinja Thanks for the info! I am starting to think it just skin irritation. I had what looked like hives so I thought it was PUPPPs like last time. It went away again last week and then showed up after I wore a particular pair of leggings over the weekend. I think the material was irritating my skin, it's kind of a rough material. At least I hope that is all it is but plan to keep an eye on it and bring it up in a couple weeks at my appointment if it keeps returning.
@laur84ns acupuncture can really help with pelvic pain! (I am a licensed acupuncturist and have successfully treated this in a number of pregnant women).
I suggest giving it about 4-6 sessions to start feeling a lasting difference. If you want help finding a local provider with a good education (it should be a 3-4 year master's degree, not a weekend certification - - some states let other types of health care providers do this and it is unsafe!) feel free to DM me and I can help you find someone through my alumni network. Depending on where you are located you might be able to get insurance to cover treatments!
