Re: Weekly Randoms of 11/12

  • @asupernovablizzardstorm Glad you aren't feeling any after affects. Score on the upgrade! I think that's how they sneakily get you to buy another car soon. Hope insurance covers most of the cost.

  • @blackhottamales I don't see any reason why we shouldn't start due date check-ins now

How do you think we should breakup the weeks?

I noticed that what was listed in the board org was some 7s, an 8 and a 9. Do you want to stick with that or try to be more uniform with 3 8-days and 1 7-day?
    (1-8; 9-16; 17-24; 25-31)
  • @mamanbebe In my Feb18 mamas we did weekly updates by EDD instead of going by weeks, if that makes sense. So it was EDD 7/1-7/7 (6 weeks) check in... but I’m down for whatever!
  • @mamanbebe I think that breakdown makes sense.  And if there are any early August moms that know they'll be giving birth in late July they can just jump into the last check-in.

  • @mamanbebe I like that setup!

I've used a few different due date calculators and gotten three different due dates: the standard LMP+40W puts me at either July 17 or 18, but YourDueDate.com uses typical cycle and luteal phase length and put me at July 16. I only bring this up because I'm on the cusp of two different groups  but since YourDueDate uses more data, I might go with that one and place myself in Group 2. Who knows, my doctor may say something different, too...
  • @mamanbebe LOVE THIS!!!

@hestia14 I would just join whichever group you want--I see the groups as a way to more easily get to know people since we seem to have quite a large group already!! (although selfishly i think you should choose July 17th since i'm July 18th)  ;)

    I can start Group 3.
  • Excited to see the due date check in groups will be starting! Both the other two BMBs I was in did it by day of the week ticker change but I like this way better!!
It is snowing SO MUCH right now. My DH's car is not great in the car and I'm going to be worried sick until he gets home. I haven't seen any plows out treating the roads and people have been driving like 5mph. I was out this morning before it started and it was snowing on my way home and I was sliding all over. So scary with littles in the car!
  • @blackhottamales Thanks :) I'll probably stick with Group 2 for now since I'll be delivering early anyway. I'll go ahead and start that one!
  • I have seen both Day of the Week ticker change check ins and date range check ins. I am happy to support either one :)
  • Work was so long today! It felt like the day was never going to end!! We have a wedding this weekend in Orlando and I feel like I have a million things to do before we leave tomorrow. I have to get the boys set up for a weekend with the grandparents, my oldest has thanksgiving feast at school tomorrow, and about a million other things! Looking forward to a weekend with DH though!!

  • I’m excited to see the due date check ins up now. I am still unsure of my actual EDD because my cycle was so messed up right before my bfp. I think I’ll wait to join one until I know for sure after my appointment on 11/26

I feel bad thinking this, but I am NOT feeling being pregnant right now. I wanted to get pregnant, I am happy that I'm pregnant, I look forward to this baby but I forgot how much the first trimester can suck and with a 12 month old, a full time job, and being enrolled full time in a masters program, the last thing I need right now is to feel sick and exhausted and have pregnancy brain! Again, I'm really happy I got pregnant (I went through IVF, I REALLY wanted it!) but now that I'm here I'm like "What have I done?? What was I thinking??" lol. Once I get through this trimester, I'm sure I'll be fine but man, I'm grumpy this morning. Hormones sure don't help :(  It's just a guilty feeling because it was so hard for me to get pregnant in the first place - it took many years and rounds of IVF to get my daughter. I feel like I should be more appreciative but I'm just too tired right now.

    Ok rant over!

So we ordered some picture frames to give to our parents over Thanksgiving as our announcement. We ordered 2 of the "I love my grandparents" option...Amazon sent us 4.....is that a sign??? ;)
  • @nopegoat i just saw your ticker (normally on mobile) and you have turd #5. So funny dd's nn is turd and turd monster but only dh and I call her that. If she's with her friends and I say it, they always ask what did I just call her haha
  • @asupernovablizzardstorm yes! I love it! All my kiddos are lovingly called Turd until we find out the sex and pick a name. It started with my 1st and has kind of become tradition.

We still call them turds too though not everyone gets our humor lol!

  • @sonorous622 LOL - are you returning or keeping? Maybe it was a pair of frames?
  • @foodislove
We will keep them! My parents would probably love to actually each have one to take to work and his parents could probably find a use for a second one once we actually have pictures to put in them. I think what really happened is that the packing person failed to notice the sticker on the box saying "contains 2 pieces". In other words each "box" of frames actually had 2 frames in it, not 1. So when they saw an order for 2 they just pulled two boxes off the shelves. Still gave me a chuckle anyways :)
  • Lord have mercy I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I've been wanting nutty bars for the last 2 days. Last night H went out on for a motorcycle ride and I messaged him to pick one up for me (he was going to a gas station) and he never saw my message. Today he went to the store and once again didn't see my message. I sent him back out and he swears the gas station he went to didn't have them so he brought me back these.

This is our 5th kid. He knows better!! But I guess he gets an A for creativity??!!

  • Would anyone be interested in a Working Moms check in on a monthly basis? Not to exclude SAHM moms, but I'd really someplace to talk with other moms who are navigating telling their bosses, handling projects as we get further along, figuring out maternity leave, etc. My situation was pretty lax last time because we didn't have a director for a whole year, but this time I do have a direct supervisor and I'm just unsure how to handle this with her (especially since I've been very weepy at work, yay hormones).
  • So my Sil who I was worried about telling around Christmas just announced that she's pregnant. Now I feel awkward and not sure when or how we are announcing. She's due late July early August.
  • @foodislove I’d be fine with that
  • @asupernovablizzardstorm So she literally just POAS and told everyone (I say this because I'm due the 24, and I'm only barely 4 weeks)? Was there a reason that you'd been concerned about telling her? I'd still go along with your plans, but maybe just give them a courtesy of a heads up maybe like a week before.
  • @foodislove she said she tested 3 days ago. I wasn't so much concerned but didn't want to bring up sad memories for her *TW she announced last Christmas and had a m/c *end TW.

I am definitely happy for her and now I don't want to take away any attention from her. Maybe I'm just over thinking this.
  • I know I just said that I'm happy for her and I am but I need to rant. After she told us, all of sudden she can't do this, can you get me that bc I'm pregnant. Dh and I would make a look at each or tap each other on the leg everytime she said that. End rant
  • @asupernovablizzardstorm oh man that would drive me nuts. I don't know why some pregnant women feel the need to remind everyone they're pregnant every chance they get.  Also, you're pregnant, not dying.  I don't think announcing at Christmas would take anything away from her since it'll be almost 6 weeks after her announcement at that point. If I were her I would be excited to have a family member to go to through pregnancy with, but maybe that's just me.

  • @asupernovablizzardstorm yikes... she's like 2 seconds pregnant. I think you should still announce when you planned to! With my first my cousin announced a few days before Christmas and I had already planned to give a gift to my grandma to tell her. I still did. She was pissed but we all deserve to be joyful about our news! This year my brother and his wife told us a few weeks ago they are expecting in May. It's their first. They were planning to tell our extended famiy in Christmas cards. I am hoping they send their cards sooner than later so that we can share our news at Christmas too. Since it's their first and our third I do feel like I should wait.
