Ugh I can’t believe you guys have to fast! They told me to eat normally. They did also tell me no caffeine for three days leading up to the test, which will be torture.

My OB tried to spring the GD test on me today. I laughed out loud. Soo I go back in 2 weeks (I’ll be 28+4) to take it then and have a regular check up. Every 2 weeks from here on out! The appointment after that (so 4 weeks from now) will be another ultrasound to check the placenta.
This appointment was uneventful. She finally showed her face and spine (yay!) but they couldn’t see the placenta/marginal cord insertion very well. Baby girl is measuring 4 weeks ahead so fuck me. The ultrasound tech said she doesnt think they’ll let me go to 40 weeks, so this lady might be a January baby.
@BourbonBiscuits 4 weeks, wow! This baby is measuring a week and a half ahead. At my last US the dr called her ‘hefty’ lol. So I may be joining you in January!
@grebretso@allthingsgo I KNOW. The tech kept retaking the measurements probably 5-6 times to be sure. The OB said they don't move due dates as a matter of policy, but now my growth scans are to make sure she isn't too big (before I needed growth scans to be sure she wasn't too small because of the marginal cord insertion). UGH. At least I (probably) don't need to worry about this baby coming late and being born on DS's birthday?
I’d say those are all good things @BourbonBiscuits! Not sharing birthdays and not having to worry about her being too small, yay! Also, possibly not being pregnant for as long and still having a chubby baby sounds pretty awesome.

@BourbonBiscuits lordy! But I echo @grebretso that it's perhaps a blessing not to have to go the full 40 if your little lady is nice and hefty? Yay for chubby little babies!
Just finished up my 27wk/Tdap/GTT/other labs appt. Whew! That was a lot! Got some good info on breastfeeding support pp though, as well as the all-clear to travel for Thanksgiving. Looking forward to our follow-up growth scan next Friday. Fingers crossed the results from all of these tests today come back a-ok!
Had my regular OB appt yesterday - all looks good and baby boy is measuring two weeks ahead! I swear I feel so large already and like he’s coming early. Life shouldn’t be this hard at 28 weeks only lol. Appts are two weeks apart at this point so I have another OB appt on nov.19.
i have my ultrasound appt tomorrow (separate from OB) and I’m curious to see their measurements.
Had my 28 week visit yesterday! All went well! Baby was moving like crazy. Thank goodness passed the GTT-barely by 3- because I puked afterwards and just in general felt terrible! Baby was measuring two weeks ahead again so having a growth scan next appointment. Which isn’t until 32 weeks, anyone else not start biweekly appointments until after 32 weeks? Also got my tdap and need to start an iron supplement because I was slightly anemic
Marathon appointment week is done! Thankfully, my midwife appointment was the last one.
The high risk docs have me so wound up that I can't hang on to all they are telling me. My midwife broke it down really well.
Baby is small, but growing on a consistent curve within the range of normal. He will be a little guy at first. All the heart info looked good. Due to the limitations of the test, they can't rule out minor heart issues like the murmur that DD1 had, but structurally, baby's heart looks great. My low amniotic fluid is still low, but in the range of normal and improving. They won't commit to not deciding to take the baby early, but it looks less likely and they are keeping an eye on things.
I'm going to act like this is a normal pregnancy from now on.

Had my last 4 week appointment yesterday, heartbeat sounded good. There was a doctor in training so she measured my uterus and it was measuring at 30 weeks. I’m only 27 weeks so that had me slightly worried but neither my actual doctor or the doctor who was training seemed to think it was an issue so I’ll just push that to the back of my brain until next appointment since it might not have been accurate anyway. I got my tdap and flu shot yesterday so my right arm is very sore.
next appointment is next Saturday to get bloodwork for GD. Not looking forward to this one. I have one more check up this month November 29th.
I just had my follow up ultrasound to check on baby’s size. At the AS 4 weeks ago we were measuring 1.5-2 weeks ahead and in the 95%ile. Today it was 1-1.5 weeks ahead and 80%ile. Not super worried about it anymore because I know some babies are just going to be bigger and that ultrasound aren’t always necessarily accurate re:size.
We had the same tech as our AS. We got crappy pics from the scan and even worse today. Not a single shot of the face because for the .5 second she moved her wand there to see for a profile shot he wasn’t in the right position. Then we spent 10 minutes trying to get a picture of a foot. No 3D. I’m bummed on a lack of pictures and just not really seeing baby in general. At least he is healthy and moving. I’ll just have to be patient for the rest! Ha
@episcowitch Congrats on getting through this week! I’d been thinking about you. I bet that was a lot to process, but it sounds like you’re in a good headspace right now.
Welp, just heard that I failed my 1-hr by one point and have to do the 3-hour next week. My hemoglobin and hematocrit are also down despite taking a million mgs of iron everyday. Super. Super duper.
@thechickendance and @megpants209 I also didnt mind the GT drink. Overly sweet orange gatorade/koolaid with an hour of quiet alone time. Probably wont get much of that after February...
Sitting and waiting for the gd liquid to do its thang. I wasnt bothered by it but it did have a funny little tingly feeling to it. So far baby doesnt think its a big deal.. 10 mins in and only one kick that i felt
@episcowitch The low hemoglobin and hematocrit just indicate that I’m anemic and it isn’t improving (which has been the case this entire pregnancy). At this point I haven’t been given any options other than taking more and more oral iron supplements (I’ve been on three/day in addition to my prenatal). I’m waiting to hear back if they’ll do iron infusions, since I’m clearly not absorbing all this iron they’re prescribing. If the anemia gets bad enough, I think it puts us at risk of preterm labor/low birth weight and increases the likelihood that I’ll need blood transfusions at birth. I hate waiting to do something, I wish these docs were more proactive.
I’ve got a growth scan tomorrow. I’ll have one every 3-4 weeks until she is here. Little annoyed that’s I wasn’t told any measurements or weight estimates after our AS and I asked my provider. I got bored and did some digging into my charts online last night. She was 12oz at 19+2. Was that so difficult to tell me? At least now I know where to find the info after this one.
In the next two weeks I have two OB appointments, one regular and one as a follow up to my hospital visit, and I have to go do my glucose screen. I'm dreading all the time away from work. I'm really not looking forward to the OB visit schedule amping up.
@wrensnest My Dr. just called and my levels keep dropping, so now onto a hematologist. To see if they can't figure out a cause before going the transfusion route. I needed a blood transfusion the day after delivery with DD, so they don't want to repeat that. If one more person tells me to eat more red meat!
TW: 1 infant loss 8/17: Our daughter was born 8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass 2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old 4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
Had another ultrasound today. Everything looks better. My amniotic fluid is now at good levels, the cord bp is good for the second time in a row since I started low dose asprin. Baby is still small, but I don't have anymore upcoming high risk appointments!!!!!!!!
I go 11/29 for my 2nd GT and a regular ultrasound at the midwife clinic.
“My darling girl, when are you going to realize that being normal is not necessarily a virtue? It rather denotes a lack of courage." - Aunt Frances”
Passed the GT test, and my other levels were normal (thankfully iron included). Today's appointment was Tdap, and rhogam shots, so it was extra fun! Baby was visibly moving during the doppler, so there were no questions as to if she is active.
Had my GT today but they said I will only get a call in the next few days if I don’t pass. I hate not knowing the actual results! I also had to get the Tdap and rhogam shots. Baby’s heartbeat was good and I measured right on track.
Anyone else having trouble with the ap? it wont let me type... Anyway, on the desktop!
Had my 28 week appointment yesterday - uterus measuring 4 weeks ahead (3 weeks last time) so i am going for an US tomorrow to check on lil man. I am sure he is fine, just like last time! My doctor said they don't move due dates even if he is measuring big.. anyone else had the same comment to them? Had my glucose test (that drink is NOT bad!) and waiting results. Starting bi-weekly appointments going forward. I DID schedule the rest of them - i was like woahhh, how have we come so far?!
@babystrong2719 my uterus is measuring 3 weeks ahead! They haven’t sent me for an US yet but I’m expecting if it’s more then 3 weeks next appointment to be sent for one. They did tell me at my anatomy scan that they wouldn’t change his due date (he was measuring few days ahead) bc it was a significant change so who knows.
@babystrong2719 my OB changed my due date at my first US bc baby was measuring 5 days ahead. She was measuring over a week ahead at my AS but they didn’t change it again. I guess that first US is the most accurate since growing rates vary greatly as pregnancy progresses.

What does the low hemoglobin and hematocrit indicate for you? Other than the million mgs of iron you take daily, what do the docs propose?
