The kid with lice is here. I felt my head starting to itch as soon as he walked in. I sprayed both my girls with sea salt spray this morning and my hair is in a braid. Ugh.
I told DS that he has picture day tomorrow and I got him a new shirt and will put his hair in a mohawk and he goes "but... But I don't have a camera" 😂😂 maybe I should've explained picture day a little better lol.
@imrachellea Ugh!! If I had a boy with lice, his hair would be buzzed so fast.
Lice is one of my greatest fears as a parent. You posted about it last week and I think it was the same day I was talking to my friend after school. Her daughter is in TK and brought home a slip that someone in the class has lice. Shudder!! My first thought was I hope that child doesn’t have an older sibling!! I may be over cautious as my kids aren’t even in the class let alone the same grade, but they both wore braids to school today.

Soooo we bought some cookies for DS's birthday party this weekend and I really really really want one. We have about 45 guests coming and only got 24 cookies but we have other desserts as well. How bad is it if I eat one 😂
@DuchessOfCambridge I applaud your decision. I've already had a few pieces of Halloween candy, even before I had lunch. I need to get this candy out of my house!
Do we have a maternity clothes thread? Should we start one. I for one have been wearing my maternity jeans since week 9. Ha.
I just wanted to share that I got a great winter maternity coat from H&M. With a 25% off for first time online purchase, I paid $60 for it and I am thrilled with how warm it is. https://www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.0509530002.html I am already struggling to zip up my current winter coat, so unlike with DD due in July, I had to buy one this time.
ETA I bought one from the Gap for $98 at almost half off and it's barely warm and feels sooo much more cheaply made. Check out the H&M maternity section.
The Association that I manage is a polling place this morning so I need to get up and let the volunteers in at 6... I slept horribly last night. Considering letting them in and sleeping in my car until my appointment at 10.
My day started off alright despite DS waking up WAY too early. Whatever, we got to go early to vote with H so that was fine. Came home, fed DS breakfast, emptied the dishwasher and washed what was in the sink, still going well. Until DS had a meltdown from being way too tired and his behavior put us both in such a sour mood. I gave up and just let him take a nap. He better take a late enough afternoon nap! I hate the time change. Death to DST, we tried it, it didn't work, let's get rid of it, it's SO STUPID. No more springing back in March! THIS SHOULD BE A BALLOT QUESTION.
We put an offer in on a house last night and now I'm playing the waiting game.. I'm so nervous, I couldn't sleep last night. I also feel super ignorant in this whole process. I didn't realize closing costs came out of pocket. Realtor is going to ask if we can split the closing costs but we're super nervous that doing that may lose us the house, so he's going to do so while offering proof that we CAN pay it, it's not that we don't have the money. But I don't know how that'll work either. We shall see. No clue when we'll know.
@eatinwatermelonseeds Check with your mortgage broker. There are some types of loans (possibly including VA loans which you may qualify for) that you can roll your closing costs into. I had an FHA loan with my condo I bought when I was single and I’m 95% sure that I rolled most closing costs into it since I had like no cash at the time.
Good luck with the negotiations! Typically the seller will come back with a counter offer and you will go from there. I don’t know how hot the market is by you- but here in the Midwest it slows to a halt this time of year since no one wants to move in January. That will work in your favor! I hope it all works out for you!
My kiddo has a terrible cough, but yesterday I realized he's finally old enough for REAL cough medicine! He slept great from 8 until about 1, then I gave him another dose and he slept the rest of the night! YAY FOR DRUGS
@chloe97 he didn't mention that, but go figure if we accept a higher interest rate he can eliminate some of the cost 🙄 I'll talk to him about that specifically though. It's definitely the VA home loan, and I don't really know how it works with that.
There is a July 2019 waiting room and it is getting kind of big! I feel bad that they're all in limbo and hope their BMB opens soon. Our seemed like it opened late too.

@peachy13 I was thinking the same thing. I was due with DD on July 1st and got the BFP on 10/21. So some of those ladies have been waiting 2-3 weeks. In a PGAL I am part of, there is a woman who just got a BFP and is due 7/20. They need to get on that.
@peachy13 I can't believe ANOTHER board is up! I feel like were just hanging out in the waiting room.
@DuchessOfCambridge Team let baby hang for a bit after nap! I used to run in as soon as her eyes opened and realized I was creating a bad habit. It's good for them to chill alone Plus, they do some cute stuff sometimes.
@chloe97 Is it totally naive of me to think I will just wear my winter coat open? I feel like I'm way too cheap to buy a maternity coat for a few months.
My bff who's getting married beginning of May has chosen a bridesmaids dress... It's definitely a beautiful dress, but... a) it costs $250 (more than the price of her wedding dress, I should add) b) apparently costs $150 to alter because there is beading all the way down the skirt part c) will look absolutely horrid on me at 9 months pregnant or newly post partum
I totally don't want to be that person that's like "PLEASE can we not wear this" but the other bridesmaids have reached out being like uhhh wtf. She's also getting married in the spring and the dress is a very fancy, black tie winter vibe. It's her wedding though... Is it awful to ask if I can have a backup maternity dress? There's no way buying a bigger size will work since it's so intricately beaded. It'd cost a fortune to take it in/up/out whatever.
@secicc12 did the bridesmaids reach out to her or to you saying "wtf?" Either way, I think it's safer to ask if you can have a backup maternity dress since I don't even know how you would alter something like that to fit you at 9 months pregnant. You also won't know if you'll be newly postpartum so do you have to buy 2? You're kind of in a weird spot (which isn't her fault, but still...).
@sleepy33 So I should clarify...her wedding is NOT black tie. It's a very simple, straightforward ceremony. The bridesmaids dresses she picked were the black tie-ish vibe. She bought her dress online at BHLDN! It's a skirt and top combo.
@secicc12 also wondering if the other bridesmaids hate it too? In that case I would confront the bride and let her know. My sister chose a dress that she loved and everyone else hated, and she was thankful that we were honest with her. I was super pregnant for two weddings last year and one of the dresses was a maternity size, which was nice. Everyone else wore regular sizes but mine was just very flowy lol and it looked great. The other dress I wore wasn't maternity and I had to spent an arm and a leg on alterations, and I thought it looked crappy in the end after all that. Definitely work with the bride and see what can be done.

@kvh22 Yeah we're all close friends, so we had a group chat and discussed haha. I really hope she's okay with a maternity dress. You're right, I'd need two dresses and last minute alterations. Stressing out now just thinking about all of that!
