Ah, yes, eating food and drinking water: protecting us all from preventable diseases since literally never.
When I recommended that OP bring up any concerns with her doctor rather than the internet, I wasn't trying to diminish the good info and links to actual research provided by all of the thoughtful ladies that actively participate on this board. I was thinking about people like @djm4. Random person of the internet, I really hope nobody dies because of you.

1. Doctors recommend it. 2. Math and science. 3. It's about protecting lives of the young, the old, and the weak. 4. Getting the shot is a preventative measure. 5. Just get it.
The flu kills like 50k people every year, but go off, random poster, TOTALLY just rely on eating right. Flu vax also represents something like .3% of all pharmaceutical sales worldwide, so yeah a real cash cow. I HOPE YOU CAN READ HOW HARD MY EYES ARE ROLLING.
80% of the children who died last year from the flu were unvaccinated. I don’t need any more reason than that to protect me and my kids. When ds1 was 2 weeks old (not even reached his due date yet) dh came home with the flu. The first thing the pediatrician asked when I called was if I’d been vaccinated. She said it usually helps the baby’s immune system too. He never got the flu thank goodness.
Can’t even begin to express all the love of science here! Minus the QFP from whomever that troll was. As someone who has seen first hand the complications of Flu in kids (and pregnant women to a certain extent), I encourage getting a flu shot ASAP if you haven’t. Protect those babies!
To anyone reading this who is still unsure, and OP, if you ever come back... Please actually educate yourself. This thread is filled with intelligent, reasonable women, who have done extensive research on this topic and have offered amazing advice regarding it. Please don't let one completely illogical comment sway you to not protect yourself and your unborn child. See above comments from @DuchessOfCambridge regarding the study "proving the link between miscarriage and consecutive flu shots" 🙄 the CDC still recommends them for a reason and it's certainly not for your money and not to put you and your unborn baby in danger.
I never get the flu shot usually.... and had read some articles on it during pregnancy, but you guys convinced me. I just have to figure out where to go, because my next appointment is weeks away. I'm wondering if I can search for locations that find preservative free versions.
@purplejoymommy I'm in the same boat as you. I'm going to call over to Walgreen's though, because I'm pretty sure I got mine at a drug store last time I was pregnant and they had the preservative free kind and offered it to me when I told them I was pregnant. You might check around.
What is this "real food" and where does one get it? I feel like I've been eating wrong my entire life. Fake food is doing me a disservice. Also GTFO out of here with your pseudo-science woo BS. If your research consists of mommy blogs and conspiracy website, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG. @djm4
@djm4 I hated to break it to you- BUT NO DRUGS ARE TESTED ON PREGNANT WOMEN. It would be unethical. "Do your own research" and learn some science before you start spreading pseudoscience on the internet.
And yes y'all- I got my flu shot yesterday! I was always planning to but had a momentary lapse of judgment at my first appt.

Re: Flu shot safety
Who are you and where'd you come from??

DS1 is 7. DD is 1. DS2 is coming in late April.
BFP: 8/20/2018 - EDD 5/4/2019
then 3 failed IUIs, and finally a successful IVF FET.
Due with #2 5/2/19 after HIO once in my FW,
because apparently that's how life works now. Team Blue!

I'm pretty sure lots of people died of influenza before food was ever classified as real vs. fake. Just get the shot...

GO SCIENCE!
