    Cycle/Month? 6/6

    WTO/TWW? TWW

Ages of other child(ren)? almost 1.5!

Any thoughts about this cycle? Lots, none of them too positive. 😢 We benched myself at the 11th hour because I realized that the reason I had a fever earlier in the week was because I had come down with HFM. I basically threw myself a little pity party this weekend - I’m sad about not even getting a chance this cycle. I’m going to stay positive though because DH has NO WORK TRAVEL scheduled for the next 2 months!!! Heck yeah!!

Any questions? How did you keep your LO from touching/playing with your Christmas tree? We put it up this past weekend (no ornaments yet) and he wants to touch it (and walk behind it) all the time!

Rant/Rave/Brag: DS is starting to shut all doors in our house. Super cute, but then he panicks and starts crying because he doesn’t/can’t open the door. I am SO not looking forward to when he figures out how to open the doors

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving dessert? Hmm. Toss up between the traditional pumpkin pie and the apple pie my Mom always made. Tastes like home!

    Cycle/Month? 6

    WTO/TWW? WFAF after AnO

Ages of other child(ren)? 13 months

Any thoughts about this cycle? Just waiting on AF. I checked my last three years of cycles and apparently I normally have an AnO about every 6 months. Hopefully I don't go past 38 days.

Any questions? What is your approach to discipline at 13 months? So far I've been doing mostly distraction techniques, with a few flicks on the hand when DD touches something dangerous. But recently she's been running away from me in public and when I make her stay with me or pick her up, it's a full on meltdown. I hate being "that mom", but I literally don't know what else to do.

Rant/Rave/Brag: DD found my brother's car keys and tried using them to open the outside door. Of course the key hole is on the outside of the door, not the inside, but she's so smart!

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving dessert? Pecan pie! With pumpkin pie and whipped cream as a close 2nd.
  • @riff323 I’ve been feeling bittersweet about people moving on for a few weeks now. 🤣 It’s hard, but I truly wish everyone the best. I’m also one of those “will happen when it’s meant to be” people, so I just suck it up and I know my time is coming soon! Lots of hugs to you!! ❤️

@riff323 - My normally yeast infection symptoms is burning after sex, like so so painful, and a beer smell down there. So feel bad about feeling bitter. I think it's a normal reaction after wanting and waiting and hoping for so long. (And now I'm going to look for who you're talking about because I'm nosy like that  :D  )

@lillywonderland - Ugh, I'm so sorry about HFM! It's weird how more and more adults are getting it now. We had two close calls with it over the summer, but thankfully none of us caught it. No idea about the Christmas tree thing. I'm thinking about putting it behind our two couches in the corner of the living room so it's hard for DD to reach, but she can almost climb on the couch by herself so idk if that's going to work.
Edit: Oh funny story about doors. DD locked herself in the nursery about a month ago, because her crib was too close to the door. Thankfully it was one of those "hairpin key" knobs, so I was able to get in. But we've since moved her crib.
  • @marebear15 I only happened to find this person because I was creeping other boards... hahaha! I hope you get AF soon. As for discipline, we started with time outs when she was around 1. Even in public, you can put them in a car for a little bit or remove them from the situation as punishment. Yes, it blows. I hate when everyone is staring and you're trying to keep cool.

@lillywonderland I'm sorry this cycle is a bust. But the next two months sound promising! We put all the breakable ornaments up high, and then we sort of just waited for the novelty of it to wear off. She wasn't obsessed with the tree the whole time, so I think it just takes time.
  • edited November 2018
@riff323 I totally get that. I actually have been avoiding the grad thread the past Couple weeks too. Actually I am doing the same thing in real life too, because I have a work friend who told me she got her IUD out in Sept and I just know she's going to tell me she's KU. I'm not proud, but I feel like TTC is slowly sucking my soul out I hope I still have friends when/if this is all over.

@lillywonderland I hope you all get better fast, that sucks!!

@marebear15 I'm sorry about the AnO. Hope AF comes fast!!

    Cycle/month: 5

WTO/TWW: TWW. AF due on Weds if I have another 9 day LP.

Ages of other children: just turned 2.

Any thoughts about this cycle? Not a banner month for our timing due to travel. But, that doesn't stop hope from creeping in. Hey, it only takes once, right? (Hmmm, maybe for some women)

Rant/rave/brag: I'm so amused by DD. She's so verbal these days. Yesterday she kept saying "good morning, mommy. How are you? Happy!" over and over. Soooo sweet.

ETA: forgot to add my dessert! I loooove warm apple crisp with ice cream this time of year...

Any thoughts about this cycle? DH will be out of town during my FW so unless I O later than CD 15 this cycle is a miss. I’m trying really hard to remind myself that this will most likely be my last pregnancy, so I’m really trying to enjoy the process. I remember when we were trying for DS, it felt like foreverrrrr, but now he’s 19 months. How did that happen. It’s also only CD2 so I’m throwing myself a pity party over here

    Any questions? Nah

Rant/Rave/Brag: I have super mom guilt this morning, but instead I’m going to rave about how sweet DS is.  We had so much fun together over the weekend. He’s really into trucks right now (excavators, dump trucks, etc). We have a new house being built close to ours so we were able to walk down and watch the excavators for a while. He just says  “wow..” we have a long weekend coming up so I’m happy about that!

Any thoughts about this cycle? Anxious about testing (and potentially getting a BFN) while we are on vacation, but I don't want to wait til DH is out of the country on his work trip, so that's happening. *TW* And even if we got a BFP, DH was out of country when we had the CP in September, so nervous about him being gone til Thanksgiving. *end TW*

    Any questions? No.

Rant/Rave/Brag: Threw a baby shower for two of our besties this weekend (husband and wife combo, known hubby since college) and it was AWESOME. They wanted a taco bar, so we did Taco 'bout a Baby as the theme with virgin sangria, churro cupcakes, a pinata, the works.

    WTO/TWW? Taking Provera

Ages of other child(ren)? 15 months

Any thoughts about this cycle?  A few weeks ago I had an almost-positive OPK and some cramping that could have been ovulation. And then I had spotting so of course I thought I was special and possibly ovulating...... but nope. So I refilled my Provera on CD39 and I’m on the third day of it.

Any questions?  Does anyone regularly spot throughout their cycle even without ovulation?

Rant/Rave/Brag:  DD is trying so hard to talk more. She loves attempting to repeat whatever you say and she has whole babbling conversations with herself. I love her little voice

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving dessert? Honestly, I don’t even think about dessert. I'm all about the green bean casserole!!!

Any thoughts about this cycle? Second cycle post IUD and my body is beautifully regulating. First cycle was 19 days total. This time I ovulated around CD 14, had a short period, and am on track for a 28 day cycle. During our first TTC phase, I would ovulate around CD10-12 and have a shorter LF.

    Any questions? None

Rant/Rave/Brag: My cough is getting worse as the day progresses. I'm a natural medicine junkie, and am taking all the goods - its not breaking. Picked up some elderberry syrup on lunch, hoping that will soothe.

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving dessert? Pumpkin pie for sure.

@foodislove what an amazing theme! And sounds like it would be warmly received by guests. :)
@montee1917 I feel you on that one! Took us 3 years to conceive #1, but the last 2 years with the baby have gone at warp speed.
@jennifer_louise I'm crazy over the new words/sentences mine is putting together too. The cuteness is too much. Her favorite is blank_ where are youuuuuu!?! Fill in the blank with anything; soothie, pizza, Lulla, baby, cracker, milk. It kills me.
@riff323 I sympathize fully and completely. This board is a catch 22. Great for the connections, biding time - but it also hurts in many ways.
@marebear15 I have no advice over the discipline, cause I am failing in that department. Just wanted to say - I hear you. It's hard.

@marebear15 my son is 15ish months old and he listens decent. But I noticed he does really well if I make a big deal when he listens. If he doesn't listen .... when he touches things he shouldn't I just gently squeeze his hand and get down at eye level  tell him no. If he laughs I say it a little more stern then sometimes he will cry but he always listens then. If he's not listening to directions then I tell him we need to make good choices and listen to mama then I make him do whatever I ask even if I have to help more than normal. If he's having a melt down I tell him it's okay to be sad/mad and wait for it to be over and then we just move on with our day doing what I wanted to begin with and he's almost stopped having tantrums as much. That's just what our family therapist suggested. He's a really sensitive little guy though and seems pretty eager to please for a toddler so I think I got fourtunate.

@foodislove that taco bar is legit my dream come true. Tacos are my favorite food!

@montee1917 how sweet! My little guy LOVES fire trucks. I just love how much personally they have at this age. And don't let mom guilt get you... bad moms dont feel mom guilt

@riff323  I'm not sure about yeast infections but i think they're pretty uncomfortable and itchy.

  • @marebear15:  It's the worst, right?  At that age, I was in same boat.  And had meltdowns, too.  Now she's two, and we've started doing (really short) time outs.  If she hits or tries to bite us, we immediately stop whatever we're doing (set her down, etc), say "no hitting," and ignore for about 30 seconds.  She really hates it, and I think it gets the point across that we're not kidding?  Maybe?  I'm totally uncertain about my parenting techniques.

@lillywonderland :  our door opening came only a few days after learning to close them.  She still can't handle all the knobs (some of ours are hard to turn), but she can now lock doors (and has locked DH out in the garage, and herself into a bedroom).  We had to stick spare keys (and the little funny  interior door one) around the house.

@riff323:  I would expect a yeast infection to be itchy, too.

    @foodislove:  AWESOME theme.  So cute!

Any thoughts about this cycle?   I just came to the realization the other day about how old I'll be when we finally have a second and got really sad.  I wish I had started TTC earlier.

Any questions?  Not right now, I guess.

Rant/Rave/Brag:  Kiddo has had language explosion recently and I love it!

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving dessert?  pumpkin pie!!

  • @lcking82 yes, age is a complete mind-eff for me too. I feel like I'm running out of time, but I know logically that's my own personal hangup and I have plenty of time left. My parents were older when they had us and I was very self-conscious about it as a kid, so I think I'm projecting a little here.

@PugMum glad your body is regulating!!! I felt like the minute my IUD came out my body started going back to normal. It was a relief because I did not have good luck with either of the IUDs I tried.

@mokay19 the only times I spotted throughout my cycle was when I had the Mirena, and it was just because my body didn't like the hormones. Usually I spot a few days before AF. I cramp frequently throughout though!

@foodislove that party sounds amazing! Your theme made me laugh out loud. And as for testing, that's tough. We're here for you!

@montee1917 that's so cute of your DS! I feel your frustration on bordering between wanting to enjoy the process but also wanting to be KU like yesterday.

@jennifer_louise oh man, I know what you mean about wanting to turn away from your friends who get KU before you. I was just talking to one friend who had her daughter 5 days after I had mine. Back then, she got KU on the very first try. She was just telling me that they think they're one and done and I was ridiculously giddy just because I know she would get pregnant first and I would be so angry!

Any thoughts about this cycle? I think my cycle is jack up from me being sick and still nursing. Also I found out my husband is going on a hunting trip during my predicted ovulation week so I'm pretty much benched next month.

    Any questions? Nope

Rant/Rave/Brag: so we put an offer on a house today and I'm slightly panicking it's toward the top of our price range and I like to budget better more conservative than this but there's no good houses lately that don't go into insane bidding wars.

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving dessert?  Pie! Any kind but especially pecan.
  • @riff323 - Ahh...I found the person you're talking about. I like that advice about just removing her from the situation as a "time-out." I selfishly wanted to finish shopping though, lol. Gotta suck it up and be a parent first I guess.

@jennifer_louise - I could go for my mom's apple crisp right now!

@montee1917 - I like your approach to just enjoying the process. I need to relax about TTC; I'm so uptight right now.

@mokay19 - I spotted a few times this cycle and never O'd. The only thing I can think is it was just my body trying to O? But idk what would cause the spotting. Love me some green bean casserole!

@daisy0322 - Aww your DS sounds like a dear. My DD just laughs and laughs at most forms of discipline. The sterner my tone, the more she giggles.

@lcking82 - Lol, I think we are all just winging it when it comes to parenting. I just hope that someday soon DD will understand that I mean it when I tell her to do something.

  • @daisy0322 good luck on your offer! I found the whole mortgage thing stressful but now that we're paying it, it's not so bad. Hopefully you have the same experience!
  • @marebear15 yeah I really think it just depends on personality ... I was pretty similar and so my my husband I guess but our next baby will probably be our wild child lol

@riff323 thank you! Itbreally is nerve wracking. Our house payment would be 26% of our income and I'm use to 20%
  • @daisy0322 oh I won't even tell you what percentage of our income we pay. In our defense, rent in our city costs the same amount as our mortgage. I think that percentages of income are a good place to start but I also think they change depending on where you live. Darn, I should have saved this for the UO thread!
  • @daisy0322 - Good luck! That's so amazing. I get ya about being at the top of your price range. Does it need any repairs or updates?

@montee1917 - Same here about enjoying things!!

Any thoughts about this cycle? Since this is just the first month, I'm just kind of trying to figure everything out. I'm totally trying not to symptom spot because I know it's so early, but I can't help myself from doing it subconsciously. I kind of feel like I'm already out, but who knows... DH says that we are done at 2 kids so if this is the last time we will be TTC, I should enjoy it a bit more. I do have my BFF's wedding this weekend so I'm hoping to find out either way so I can enjoy myself.

Any questions? DS has been having some tantrums over the past 1.5 months that he will just throw himself on the ground and crying inconsolably. He'll scream, "No fair!" and will also scream for water to help him calm down but DH and I are thinking he needs to calm down and stop crying first before giving him the water (as we may not always have a water bottle to console him when out in public, when he's at school, etc.). Has anyone dealt with this? He's also not listening unless he wants to, so sometimes I have to repeat myself/ask questions multiple times.

Rant/Rave/Brag: Not really, just wishing I had a vacation planned or even a week where I had no DH/DS and could do whatever I wanted!

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving dessert? EVERYTHING! I really like to take a roll, some turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, and stuffing and make a sandwich.

  • @stephanie123456  no it's in amazing shape and everything is under 5 years old or brand new! Anything we would do would be upgrades. However it has the UGLIEST counter tops I've ever seen in my life. It's also very basic But this is our first house so we wanted that. We are going to put some improvements in it to ad equity.

@riff323 we live in the rural Midwest/south (we're on the boarder) and it's one if the list affordable areas in the country so I admit I'm spoiled. It's absolutely less to own than it is to rent too around here. Rentals are high demand for some reason and it about 300$ more a month per bedroom rather than if you own.
  • @daisy0322 yes, definitely a different market than what we have here! But that's awesome, and I don't think you're spoiled. :)

@stephanie123456 symptom spotting is so hard. I have to constantly remind myself, "Yep, you had these symptoms last month... and it was PMS!" Hahaha. I don't have any advice about the tantrums but I've heard they can be even rougher at 4 than they are at 2 or 3. Hopefully you can come up with a solution!
  • @stephanie123456 add me to the crazy symptom spotting party too. I swear I start noticing symptoms at like 2dpo. Um no, sorry Jennifer_Louise you're just crazy.

@riff323 your real estate situation sounds similar. Our mortgage payments are pretty much what we paid in rent before.
  • @daisy0322 thanks! I needed to hear that today. We ended up having a really fun evening together. Ending the day on a high note!

Disciplining is tough! DH says I baby DS too much sometimes, and maybe he’s right. I’ll keep a few of your tips in my back pocket too.
  • @riff323 do you get like uterus feeling cramps throughout? Or are they they ovulation/ovary ones?

@marebear15 that’s what I was thinking that it was my body getting close or attempting to since I had suuuuper dark but not positive OPKs. I’m hoping that maybe after taking Provera again, it’ll actually do the dang thing next cycle!
  • @mokay19 definitely ovary/ovulation feeling ones - although, to be honest, I never thought about it until you asked me! The only time my uterus feels crampy is on the first or second day of AF, which I suppose makes sense.
  •  I just need to vent-
Has anyone weaned before and been horribly sad about it? I want my boobs back and I want my freedom, plus I'm tired of my mom thinking it's gross and I'm hoping he will start sleeping through the night...but my God every time I think about what I'm doing I sob. We are down to once or twice a day and I miss snuggling and how calm he is while nursing. I feel like he's not my baby anymore he's a toddler who wants to do everything himself and never sleep.  :'(
  • @daisy0322 I weaned about a month ago. I’m still a bit sad that phase is over, because like you, that was the only time DS was cuddly and needed his mama. I now rock him to sleep which is just as special for both of us I think...he figured it out pretty quickly and is still quite cozy before bed. He was 18 1/2 months when we finished so I see it as a huge accomplishment
  • @daisy0322 - I'd probably miss nursing too if my DD was snugly and calm while nursing. But she's a wild child and thrashes her head back and forth, bites occasionally, and switches from boob to boob every ten seconds. I'm so ready to give up nursing!
  • @daisy0322 that's definitely a hard transition. I applaud you ladies who BF for so long! I weaned at around 8 months because I wasn't producing much anyway. It was definitely bittersweet!! But, I didn't feel as sad as I thought I would.
  • @daisy0322:  I quit nursing about a year ago (at around 18 months), and I still miss it at times. I loved the snuggles, how calm it made her, and the fact that it was a special bond between us. I do NOT miss pumping at work though!
  • @daisy0322 F*CK what your Mom thinks. You do you! If YOU want to stop, then stop. Don’t let her influence your decision to stop. If you’re having a hard time deciding (which it kinda sounds like), try dropping down to 1x a day (a set time - morning or before bed) and go from there. It is an incredibly hard and emotional thing to decide to stop nursing, and it should be your decision alone.
  • ^^^ what @lillywonderland said. I think it's weird that your mom thinks it's gross! When DD weaned, I was sad for a little bit but mostly relieved. I know a lot of women who keep nursing for years because of the bonding. Whatever works for you and your LO is what's best!
  • @montee1917 18.5 months is awesome DS is 15 months and my goal was 12. I just want my body back to myself before getting pregnant again or I would try for 2 years.

@marebear15 ouch no biting here but I do think him getting more teeth is adjusting his latch because it's been painful nursing for about a week now since he got his molars.

@jennifer_louise 8 months is still a long time! I didn't expect to be sad about this lol I've been talking about quitting since I started, I just never had a reason to.

@Icking82 i think it's the bing Im just afraid to lose it. He started to enjoy playing gvwith daddy more and I think I feel like it's our "thing".

@lillywonderland and @riff323 thanks, I do a lot of things that she wants.... not to make her happy just to get her to leave me alone.

  • @daisy0322 gosh, I can relate. I'm lucky to live really far away from my parents because we all have a pretty toxic dynamic going; once I became a parent, my mother's outlook on life just drove me up the wall. I used to be able to tune it out but now when I have to talk to her on the phone or spend time with her in person, it's like nails on a chalkboard. I don't know if you have this option, but it helped me a lot to just limit what she knows about my life. For the most part, she sees what I put on social media and that's about all she's privy to.
  • @riff323 currently we live down the street from them but we are about to move 30 minutes away. I've been working on boundaries a lot in therapy but I have to take it slow so she doesn't notice.
  • @daisy0322 boundaries and therapy helped me immensely! I'm glad you're working on it!
  • @riff323 Thank you! We’re getting an outlet cover that will let the Christmas tree stay plugged in (and protect DS) and so far he’s not that interested in the tree. I think I will do as you said and put the breakable ornaments up top and some cheapos closer to the bottom. I might be brave and put the ornaments on this weekend, orrrr maybe I’ll be lazy and wait another week or two. 😂 Also, mad props to you for keeping up on the TFAS thread. I have been sooooo bad lately at it. 😕 Oopsie!

@marebear15 Once DS learned how to climb onto the couch, he was all about standing on the arms. And now he wants to vault his tiny body over the back part! He is a freakin daredevil! I like your idea of quarantining the tree behind couches, but it won’t work in our house. Do you know when you’re going to put yours up? Real or faux?

@jennifer_louise Hope is a great thing to have, as hard as it can be sometimes. I love one of my favorite Harry Potter quotes for that - “Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” Be the little light! 😊

@montee1917 How creative of you to bring your DS to see the new house being built! He prolly has so much fun watching all the big trucks do their thing! I’ll keep all my FX for your perfect O date!

@foodislove OMG the taco baby shower sounds awesome! CHURROS...mmm!!!

@mokay19 I love the babbling conversations! I only had spotting when I was on a crappy BC, so I’m of no use for you there.

@PugMum How are you feeling today? Any better? I drink a lot of green tea with lemon and honey when I start to feel sick and that seems to help me out!

@Icking82 I feel you on the whole “wish I would have started this baby-making phase earlier”. But honestly we were having so much fun traveling sans baby, lol! That being said, there’s no guarantee that I would have gotten PG with #2 as my DS and I love that little bugger so much! Ugh, it’s such a mind f*ck!

@daisy0322 Did you get the house???

@stephanie123456 Welcome Welcome!! I hope your stay here is short & sweet!!
  • @lillywonderland Yes! We did!!! We are doing inspections right now and so far everything is coming back good. I will say we low balled the offer and most of the other similar houses in the area are going for about 20,000 more so I'm slightly worried about that .... however they sold in a seller market during the summer and this house were buying has the ugliest kitchen and bathrooms I've ever seen! We're planning on remodeling them before we even move in.

    WTO/TWW? WTO CD 3

Ages of other child(ren)? DS 3.5, DD 17 months

Any thoughts about this cycle? Hopefully it’s  longer than last cycle. Like I said in WTO my MIL is in town so there isn’t a whole lot of sex going down right now. Plus we already live with my mom. I’m not feeling super into it currently.

    Any questions? Not right now.

Rant/Rave/Brag: I’m having some cold feet about a third. I don’t feel finished but I wonder if I’ll be a good enough mom to parent 3 kids. I feel like I’m tripping through life as it is.

GTKY: What is your favorite Thanksgiving dessert? I never leave room for dessert tbh.
