Babies: 9 - 12 Months

A ? for older babies...

Have any babies started self weaning to 3 bottles?  I am definitely noticing that trend with Colin... Up until recently he was taking about 3.5-4 bottles a day.  Now it's usually 3 full bottles, sometimes a few ounces right before bed to top him off.  He has increased his solids a bit, but not by much, he still stinks in that department.  And he is more mobile, so I would have thought he needed more to eat than weaning.

Anyway, I am just curious what other babies are doing.

  • H is ebf but she has recently dropped one of her nursings and is eating only slightly more solids. Pedi and LC agree that it's normal and nothing to worry about, even though she is thinning out b/c is mobile.

  • Ben is only nursing 2-3 times a day (and not at all at night). He does eat TONS of solids and our pedi ok'd some whole milk, so I feel ok that he's getting enough. But I worry a little when I see all these babies about the same age still eating 25-30 ounces a day. Ben NEVER had that much BM, even when he wasn't on ANY solids!

  • to ease my mind, the pedi also told me she will let me know if she is hungry. if C seems content, i would not worry at all. seems typical to start dropping feedings at this age.

  • C has three bottles and two small bottles with two of his three meals. It's more just to wash it down. Not sure if that counts as 3 bottles or not. :)
