@kangstadt I felt it like a couple inches below my belly button. Pure sure the babe was doing barrel rolls. I don’t think the uterus reaches your belly button till 20 weeks. But I don’t know if that’s different the second time around and I’m assuming that it could vary slightly based on body shape too.

@kangstadt i’ve been feeling baby movements in the lower abdomen. Probably about 3 inches or so below my belly button. I would assume the same as @thatbaintforbetty that everyone’s body is different so it would make sense for it to vary. Though I did find a cool image of the growth progression of the uterus from month 3 and it didn’t reach the belly button until month 5.
Regarding clothing, totally agree about needing more calm (? that's how I'll put it) options for girls. I just can't cope with how manic and blinding most of the stuff is. I do appreciate the new Cat & Jack line at Target because it has more relaxed (?) stuff, like animals which don't appear to have been put in a blender at Nickolodeon and words and phrases used by people who are not in middle school. DD usually wears 1 girl piece (she does love pink) like a skirt and the rest boys or neutral.
I'm pretty sure I've seen STEM-themed stuff for girls in that line? @lin0442. But what they have out changes so quickly.
For those looking for gender neutral kids stuff. Have you seen primary.com ? Cute, simple, and fully gender neutral. I also think princess-awesome.com has some really cool girls clothes, like dresses with dinosaurs and trains, etc.
@lilpotatomama , @thatbaintforbetty , @ysotte and @sheepshepherdess : Yeah, I'm figuring it was just gas or digestion again since it was so high up. Sigh. I just want to feel this babe! It seems crazy to me that he's the size of q pomegranate but I haven't felt him move and (on good days) I hardly feel pregnant. It's messing with my head, and I haven't had a loss or anything - I can't imagine how it is for ladies going through this time PGAL.
@Professormama I love the few things we bought from Primary. A little pricey for such basic items, but I much prefer simple items to really out there phrases and sayings. Definitely worth a gander.
@kangstadt I'm sure you will start to feel movement soon! I'm on the same train as you - I keep feeling things that seem like movement but logically the areas I'm feeling it don't make a lot of sense.
@kangstadt on the other hand, and not to get your hopes up too much, I had an anterior placenta with DD and still felt her at 16 weeks. It was faint, and wasn’t stronger until 18. But it was a little something and it helped.
I was super focused and got a ton of work done yesterday and this morning (while administering an exam) - all stats. Pretty happy with my outputs too. Not perfect, but good.
But omg. I had the brilliant idea to work from home this afternoon, and so far.... no work is being done. I did start laundry, and I am seriously considering making chex mix after mentioning it in the UO thread.
@mrstmoose it's a sweet chex mix with powered sugar and stuff. It's mediocre. Spicy is better.
I'm about ready to kill my mother. For background, I'm one of 4 girls and one of my sisters is still in high school. So my mom sent myself and my 2 sisters who no longer live at home a really guilt-laden text message about how it's so sad that no one is choosing to make it back in town for my dad and sister's dance performance this weekend and so on. Well we live 4 hours away (as does one of my other sisters), I'm pregnant, and I have an almost 4 year old - and we were in town last weekend. So I'm supposed to feel guilty that I'm not putting myself and my family in the car for 8 hours this weekend to see my dad and sister do a 5 minute dance during the halftime at the football game? Oh HELL no. And when I lost it with her, she tried to backtrack and say "well of course we don't expect YOU." Well then why the f* did you include me in that b.s. text message? Plus, both of my other sisters don't live in town either! It's a 5 minute dance at a football game, and my dad is embarrassed to be doing it! And not only that, we made him practice for us last weekend, so we've all seen it!

@professormama I know what puppy chow is. And I love it! I was saying that the people who don't know what it is, is negativity I don't need!
@mrstmoose haha whoops. Misunderstood you somehow. Sorry to add to the negativity as well re puppy chow (but I stand by my statement). I'm too grumpy today after the throw down about whether or not it's appropriate to demand that someone drive 8 hours to see a 5 minute dance performance.
Is this weird? My mom asked if her and my dad could be there for the anatomy scan. I feel like it's not a freaking party it's a medical appointment. Plus if they went so would DD since they usually watch her and that is way too many people to me.
When i told her i have an appt next week and it will have an ultrasound she was all will you find out the sex?!?
Like that is not the point of the either ultrasound but it's all she cares about. She was the only one super excited about the pregnancy so i feel bad thats she's driving me nuts. Both my parents have strong feelings on what the baby should be or is and i feel like that drama has no business at my ultrasound.

I had the puppy chow craving a couple weeks ago and whipped up a batch. Husband had no idea what it was. Took a bunch into work and my coworkers had no idea what it was. After some research I have concluded that it is definitely an American style treat.
That being said, they are all obsessed with it now and several coworker admitted that they skipped their lunch because they ate so much puppy chow.
Puppy chow will definitely be on the "to make" list this weekend.
@thatbaintforbetty yes, that's weird. We invited grandparents to the 3D ultrasound that we chose to do when I was 30 or 33 weeks pregnant. But no one, other than DH, was at the anatomy scan.
@professormama I wouldn't do that. Unless it was for my own child.
I feel like me and @professormama have created a puppy chow monster!
Also, in no way shape or form should you have to attend that dance performance. Unless it’s your own kid, you’re gonna miss stuff sometimes. Have no idea why they can’t comprehend that.
@thatbaintforbetty it’s about as weird as my SIL saying she is gonna crash our anatomy scan to make sure she finds out the gender before anyone else. Overly excited family members just don’t know when to stop sometimes. But yeah, anatomy scan will just be DH and I. I totally agree with you that it’s medical procedure over anything else and should be treated as such! (Even though I’m super excited myself.)
@kangstadt, having an anterior placenta is very confusing and made my anxiety go through the roof! I felt my daughter kick maybe 2 or 3 times my whole pregnancy 3 years ago! It could have been also that I was a FTM and didn't know what it should feel like. I hope your experience is different than mine was!
Mommy to an angel baby and a sweet little girl Earth side.
@thatbaintforbetty: That's weird. I'd say no nicely for the reasons you list to draw boundaries now. My mom is unhealthily obsessed with DD and I wish I'd been a little firmer at the beginning, but I was too busy feeling guilty about stuff.
Thanks guys! They weren't like this with DD so it's kinda throwing me off, and she was the first grand kid. I planned to say no, just wondered if i was being to harsh in my reason and opinions. They have been really odd this pregnancy, i don't know if it's because we waited so long to tell them and fear we are leaving them out or what.
They argue all the time over what the baby it is and say things like it better be a girl and it's super annoying. I'm thinking maybe I'll see if they want to do an outside ultrasound place at some point if it means that much.

@kangstadt adding in another thing about anterior placentas. I had one last pregnancy and didn't feel her consistently moving until I was over 20 weeks. This time I'm feeling movement so much more.
@professormama I absolutely would be just as upset. She shouldn't expect you to be there if you made the trip last weekend. Living that far away is difficult and you shouldn't be expected to pick up your life every weekend and make a road trip.
It’s a *really* reasonable boundary to have- it’s you and your partner’s baby and you are the ones that make medical decisions.
Also, what if you or the doc need to talk about personal things at the appointment- vaginal issues, etc.? What if there’s something on the scan they want to look closer at follow up on? It shouldn’t be your job to manage a parent’s anxiety on top of your own. Better to have clear communication with your OB/midwife/sono tech than have people come uninvited to ‘the show’.
Thanks for the support / sympathy y’all. I vented to my husband for awhile too and I’m feeling better.
@thatbaintforbetty my mom is insanely over involved and sensitive (see above), but I still didn’t let her come to my doctors appointments. That’s a very reasonable boundary. Your medical appointments are between you, your doctor, and your significant other. That’s it.
There are fruit flies coming out of my bathroom drain. I googled it, and apparently it’s common? Found very specific, step by step directions to deal with it. But seriously? Gross.
@professormama You must not live in the country for sure There are bugs everywhere. It's honestly pretty gross but now my daily routine involves murdering as many as possible. And cleaning up spider poop?!

Nope. Definitely don’t live in the country. I’m used to fruit flies coming from the compost when we forget to take it out. But the drain??? Eww. Also, last night I found a dead spider in my son’s bed and nearly died of a heart attack. I had to pretend to be cool and throw it away like a normal adult so I didn’t scare my son. But ewwwwww.
Also my husband is cooking with fish sauce. My house is a hellscape.
@LifeofLauren2 and @angelob88, thanks ladies. I'm trying not to stress. This is a second pregnancy for me, so I keep thinking I'll know for sure when I feel him, but then again it's been five years so... lol.
Adding to the discussion, I totally get not driving that far for one quick little performance. Ick! I'm sorry your mom is guilt tripping you guys, @professormama. And fish sauce sounds vomit-inducing.
@thatbaintforbetty, I'll just add another vote for standing your ground and making boundaries. Your appointment is totally not a circus act, and it shouldn't be made to feel that way!
I had a coworker try to tell me not to lift something heavy tonight because of the baby. She then tried to move it and couldn't... so after informing her I've been Crossfitting for seven years, including while pregnant before, I lifted it and moved it, lol. (She's also only 18, so it felt especially condescending, haha.)
I'm making tater tots for my dinner tonight and was so excited to put them in the oven I started singing 'Tots! Tots! Tots! Tots tots tots everybody!' (like the Shots Lil Jon song) hahaha. I totally cracked myself up
@kangstadt MIL told me not to move a sideboard/hutch yesterday because of the baby and I totally did. But since I am not super strong I took breaks along the way. Work smarter.
@lyse01, I never understand people treating pregnancy like a disability. Yes, there are things you have to be cautious of, and if there are medical reasons, then absolutely listen to your doctor. But I modify what I do and am still able to do almost everything just like before, maybe just a bit more out of breath.

Although, I have strong feelings about spicy chex mix being superior to sweet chex mix.
