James Douglas and James Everett stand out to me from that list, but all of them are great choices.

James Paul is a little too close to Jake Paul for me, but then again you probably don’t have a YouTube obsessed 11-year-old constantly saying that name at your house lol.

  • @AshVA I like James Douglas and James Edward best as well!
  • I like James Everett
  • DH and I had decided on Lilah for our girl, but somehow it doesn't seem like the "right' name for her.  I think it's because DS nicknamed the baby Kiki shortly after we found out I was pregnant, so basically everyone has been calling her that for months now (and probably still will after she's born).  I haven't come up with anything I like better than Lilah, but somehow Kiki seems like it fits her better.  I wonuldn't use Kiki as a first name, but maybe something where that could be a nickname?   Middle names we are considering are Brielle and Victoria.
  • @ashleyvictoria I love Lilah! But maybe Kirsten or Keira if you want Kiki for a nn?
  • @ashva I like James Dylan the most  :D of course I just HAVE to be different. I like that you don’t hear it all the time.
  • @AshVA My favourites are James Douglas and James Dylan!
  • @ashleyvictoria Kiki is so cute! The Kikis I know have Kirsten as their first name.

James Everett and James Douglas are the stand-outs for me too! James Paul is also nice and a bit more concise.
  • @AshVA I like James Douglas or Dylan the best plus you can call him jd for short!
  • @AshVa James Edward, James Douglas, and James Everette are the ones I like the most

@ashleyvictoria I wouldn't worry too much about nicknames. They'll happen regardless of what her name actually is. DS calls this baby Lady Gunsmoke (don't ask, lol) so we call her LG. We refer to our son as Wilbur (he sounded like a piglet as a newborn) despite his name being Colton.

  • @AshVA definitely biased because Everett is my favorite boys name, but I’m partial to James Everett. It flows really nicely and when I throw a two syllable last name in there, it sounds really good!

  • @ladystout08 I love it Bc I’m petty   :D my in laws keep suggesting ridiculous names (things we’ve heard of Bc duh they’re top ten most popular names, or things that we would never touch Bc they’re from 1950 etc) and fortunately my husband shuts them down. He knows I’m less likely to choose something if they suggest it. And by less likely I mean there’s an ice cubes chance in hell.

I really like my in-laws, but they've given us some STRONG opinions about our name. We're thinking of Dean Adam for our baby boy, and all my in-laws keep telling us "you can't name your baby Dean!" or how much they hate it, etc etc. I know it's not the cutest name ever, but I honestly never expected to get so much backlash. Then they suggest names like Noah (cute but #2 boy name right now), or Ty or Tag (???).

At our baby shower, we're going to let people write down name ideas for us to look over. I figure it will help them feel involved, and MAYBE someone will suggest something we haven't already considered, that also isn't really weird. But we're most likely going to stick with Dean because we simply haven't found anything else that we both agree on.
  • @sarahsaurus-2 personally I think Dean Adam is great! Just tossing a few similar styles your way for fun: Grant, Reid, Keith, Mark, Scott, Seth, Craig, Neil, Daniel. I hope your family comes around or just shuts their mouths about it!
  • @sarahsaurus-2 I really like Dean Adam! Your in-laws need to chill... or go make their own baby if they’re that opinionated about naming people. The baby shower suggestions could be fun!

  • @sarahsaurus-2 I like Dean. Old people are weird. How is TAG a legit name but not Dean???
We did get the Noah suggestion and my dad (who admittedly was v ahead of the time in the 80s) wants me to use Mason because it would have been my name but he doesn’t understand how common that is now. My FIL is a nut about genealogy/ancestry so will legit suggest “family” names from the 1700s (what about Wilhelm?? Hmm no) I think both sides forget that the baby is half the other side- so my family sometimes tries to push Portuguese names and my husbands family pushes German or Irish. But not cute German or Irish.... just weird. My mom told me then and still tells me that when we named DD, she didn’t “get it” but now it makes sense. HER NAME IS NORA. what’s there to get???

I’ve settled with the idea that we are definitely not gonna have a name chosen when we go in and I think it’s gonna be a gametime decision with Murphy as the front runner. #MurphTheSmurf
  • @wolfmum omg same with each family not understanding that the baby has another side of the family too. My husband is a junior (and his grandfather also has the same first name, just a different middle name). Basically every child in his family has James or Thomas either as a first or middle name and his family is AGHAST that we are giving our son neither of these names. But like he's already getting their last name! Why can't my family get a little shout out in there too? We're giving him my grandmother's maiden name as a middle name and then the first name Samson is totally random and just something we like but we tell my family's side it's after my mom's grandfather (his name was Samuel but close enough?) and we tell H's family (much more religious than mine) that we wanted a "biblical" name lol.
  • Another little girl here! DD1 is Ella Rose. She will be Callie Mae. With Emma Kate in close 2nd!!!
  • I like Dean. I think it's a good name and for real better than Tag. Like what?

  • @sarahsaurus-2 Do your in-laws watch "Sweet Home Sextuplets"? They named one of their boys Tag. They actually gave all 9 of their kids some of the most awful names I've ever heard, complete with some made up spellings.

  • I asked DD1 and DD2 what she thought of Aubrey or Audrey and she started balling! She said they were boy names (she’s 4).

She said she wants to name the baby Rosie- while cute my grandmas name is Rose and I love my grandma but don’t want to name our daughter after her...... any tips to help DD1 get onboard with a baby name or do we just not tell her until baby is born?
  • My DD1 didn't like the name we picked for DD2. She was okay with the nickname but not the full name. We just told her too bad, she was also 8. It's easier to tell an 8 year old that this isn't their decision. She ended up loving the name pretty early on. Actually most of the people that didn't care for her full name ended up being the ones that call her that more than her nickname. People are funny.
  • @kmos816 I just wouldn’t tell her until the baby is born. My kids aren’t crazy about our little ones name either, but it’s not their decision.

  • Thanks @molosmiles and @DLpanda08 I feel better about not caring what DD1 thinks now- I’ll just not bring it up until she’s born :-)
  • After going between Madeline Reese or Madison Reese, we decided on Olivia Reese. However, she still gets called by her nickname we gave her earlier, which is tater tot 😂, tater for short.

  • I finally got DH to have a discussion about names. I think we are pretty set on Aaron Rui (MN is part of DH's Chinese name and is pronounced like Ray). I'm still a little concerned about the that key and peele video "A-aron" thing, but I'm hoping that all his friends will have never heard about it by the time he hits school age. Aaron is the only name that DD has embraced other than "twinkle", so I think it might be a winner, lol.
  • We’re now considering Louella as a FN. DS and I were watching this show called Camp Kikiwaka and one of the counselors name is Lou(female). I made a comment about using Louella at a first name and she could be like Lou in the show. And DS ikes it! Then an episode later, Lou’s mom comes to visit and uses her full name, which is Louella! DS got so excited so now hhe's latched on to that one.

  • @ladystout08 camp kikiwaka is a really cute show! My kids were obsessed with it for a while. And I love Louella! Especially with the nickname Lou.

Although Louella is what my grandma named the gps in her car so whenever I hear it I think of grandma getting lost and yelling “STFU louella!” Lol

  • Just came across someone who named their girl Emmanuelle. I have never ever seen that name before. Heard of it, yes, but spelled completely different.

Then I googled the name bc I wanted to see if it was actually a common way to spell it for girls. Maybe, I thought.

I now have a bunch of results with word “pornography” and I’m wondering if the parents knew that it was softcore porn in the 70s.

Before I googled, though, I thought I’d prefer the traditional way of spelling it. Emmanuelle sounds like they tried too hard to be unique about it. Maybe they’ll call her Emma for short? Anyway, not a big fan of unique spellings.
