Sorry for the late update, it's been a hectic day, i had a flat tire that had to get fixed, then the tire pressure sensor went out too. I ended up spending the entire day at the dealership. Despite this, nothing can dampen my mood as the ultrasound went good! the FHR was 150 and i got to see my little bean. It was such a surreal feeling. He only measured to be 7 weeks and 1 day though, which concerns me as i'm 7 weeks and 3 days. The nurse said it's normal this early on to be a couple of days off. I video taped the whole thing and just feel so blessed! I officially graduated from my RE and just made a prenatal visit with my OBGYN for next Wed 10/24. It was a bittersweet goodbye, i admit i did get teary eyed. Can't thank my RE enough for making my 6 year long dream come true.
@Momifbysea i'm sorry you are feeling so sick. Just remember this is a good sign and thank goodness it's temporary. It'll all be worth it in the end. I've been fortunate to be nauseated, but no vomiting yet.

looking good @bkatp! i'm hoping for a strong HB... i've been a little worried. i didn't realize during my first transfer, the FHR was on the lower side for 7 weeks (120) and wonder if that contributed to the MMC...
@northbeach3 this time might be different. U already had 120 FHR at 6.5 weeks by 7w it might go into 130,140 range. Good luck with your ultrasound tomorrow
@northbeach3 my RE gave me a gift of a free maternity shoot and baby shoot gift certificates! Plus a book on what to expect when expecting. He wants to see the baby after it's born. I told him i would bring the baby in for sure to have him personally thank my RE!

@babyhopeful442 I am 7 W 6 d today measuring 8 w 0 d. I don't think you should worry, some are measuring ahead some are behind. I think that is common this early, you have good FHR which shows a strong pregnancy. so at your next appointment will they do another scan ? or would it be just prenatal blood work?
Congrats @babyhopeful442 and @bkatp! AFM, we heard the heartbeat! I should be 6 weeks 4 days but am measuring 6&2. Hb is 121 and she said anything over 100 is good!
@bkatp here's a pic of my ultrasound. Not sure why the baby is all the way in the corner and not using all that space, but here it is.

@babyhopeful442 i wouldnt worry about measuring behind by a day or two. I have measured from 2 days behind to 1 day ahead- and every week it is different. I felt the same way today- it really was bittersweet leaving my REs office. The dr had put it in the system that next week was my last visit so my nurses (all 3 were there today surprisingly enough) were shocked that today was my last day. one of my u/s pictures shows the same thing- baby hanging out in the corner. That might be why the measurements are off- that was one of the times i was measuring behind. Dr said not to worry its really hard to get all the edges when they are hiding like that and even being a little bit off with throw off the hadlock measurement (how many weeks and day your are).
@bkatp those are great numbers and a beautiful ultrasound!!! Did they tell you to continue ornquit your progesterone supplements? Just curious as clinics do things different.
AFM, i had two appts today: my last one at my RE and my first at my new OB. i am mearsing right at 9w0d, we got to see him flapping his arm and twisting about. Both of my SCHs have healed (i havent spotted since monday).GS sac is still behind by 4 days but my doctor said it is keeping up so he has no worries discharging me today. He was really sweet thanking me for sticking with them through the years and having faith in them and not giving up. All my nurses were happy for me but sad to see me go (one cried she was so happy- she had just came back from having a baby and she that i (being pregnant)was her welcome back present.
My new OB was wonderful! I was late to the appt (i was feeling a little sick and had a hard time finding the office because it was in the hospital). The whole office staff was nice and welcoming. Dr said everything looked great. Got to hear the HB for the first time!! And got an exact measurement 186bpm. He said i could keep coming back weekly for u/s until if/when i feel comfortable going to once every two weeks or once a month (they bill by the pregnancy not visits). He was really understanding of my apprehension. He does have another Dr in the practice (i wasnt aware of this) so i dont have to wait 3 weeks for him to come back from vacation and be seen.
i dont know why but going to another doctor and having everything i was told at the RE confirmed has lifted a hige weight off my shoulders. Im sure i will continue to worry for a while yet but this is the ive felt in a while. Sorry for such a long detailed post ETA: delete random emojis in post
@babyhopeful442 I can see the head in your u/s. Congratulations. looks good, maybe he likes the comfort in the corner. @Momifbysea Congratulations on seeing heart beat. When is your next ultra sound? and the u/s picture?
@justharrison Nice picture and strong numbers, They haven't told me anything They usually get back the next day after ultrasound because my blood work results have to come back. My ultra sounds are done by ultra sound tech and messages are left by nurse once my RE reviews the results. I have seen my RE only 3 times so far. The day of appointment for infertility, day of extraction and day of transfer
@bkatp sorry we are still in the car driving back from our appointment! Left at 8am this morning loooong day! And hours in the car with nausea is no fun lol! We will get home per Garmin at 7:44 and PIO shot is at 8, cutting it close. Then I will post pic!
so much action! @momifbysea congrats on the great first scan! when is your next one? will it be the last with the RE?
@babyhopeful442 a pregnancy/baby shoot!?!?! whaaaa? that's awesome. i think the PG ladies at my clinic get a cute stuffed teddy bear and that's it.
@justharrison good news all around! i'm hoping your SCH healing vibes hit my uterus. my last spotting was wednesday, so hopefully it's clearing up for tomorrow's scan. i'm so glad your new OB's office is so welcoming... uhhh, i hope my insurance gives me weekly scans if desired! that's super cool... how long do you think you'll do them?
what's next for all you 8+ week ladies? will you be moving over to PAIF 1st trimester? BMB? if tomorrow's 7+2 scan goes well, i may have the courage to move to PAIF.
Congrats @Momifbysea great numbers and can't wait to see your US picture! @justharrison that's wonderful to have such a sweet transition with new obgyn and put you at peace, and your US and comment gave me happy tears! very happy for you! @northbeach3 can't wait to hear your update and know that everything will be ok @babyhopeful442 congrats on a great U/S very happy for you as well! @bkatp I took my first PIO this morning and it wasn't fun. last time the nurse drew the spot where to administrate the shot but I forgot to ask for that this time and it was kinda confusing to find to right spot, but overall it was ok I guess with mild pain. Anyway it's PIO and I'm not expecting much, just suck it up! LOL
Hi ladies, US went well. Measuring 7+1 on 7+2. FHR of 154. SCH is a little bigger but does appear to be resolving (less fluid visible?). Last RE visit will be Oct 31 (9w) and they’re going to try to get me referred directly to high risk OB for 11w visit.
@northbeach3 great news. 1.5 weeks more for another appointment. You must be relieved to see increased heart rate.
About boards, I am not sure if I am ready to join any other boards now. But I’ll keep checking all of your updates on different boards u decide to join.
@bkatp I agree with you in that I’m not ready to move in yet! This is a safe place I suppose.
@northbeach3 that’s great news! I think I may be the last one here as my next u/s is 11/1 for the 8-week. Then if that goes well i will graduate to an OB which I need to find, but I will stay on estrace and PIO til week 12. Lots of butt shots in my future!
AFM, nurse just left me a message saying I am graduating. I ll be stopping my estrogen and progesterone on 11/16 and baby aspirin on 11/30. I asked them for recommendation for OB/GYN as I am not 100% convinced to go back to my OB/GYN. I think my clinic doesn’t do any surprises for patients.
I kind of feel left out until I find another doctor, I asked them if I can do one more test with them, not sure if they will agree for that.
is it safe to stop those medications will my placenta pick up ? That day will be 12 weeks 0 days
@bkatp yep, that's the same time I stopped my medicines. Your placenta will take over by 12 weeks. Sometimes people ask to wean off the meds so they feel less nervous. If you're going to stop completely cold turkey, I recommend trying to get into the OB right after you stop for reassurance. I stopped cold turkey and found having an OB appt shortly thereafter very reassuring that all was well.

@bkatp congrats on graduating! Are you doing PIO or suppositories? I did endometrin and weaned from 3/day to 2/day for a week to 1/day for 7-10 days (whenever I ran out). I think I ran out between 12 and 12.5 weeks.
ETA I kind of did this on my own. My OB directed me to my RE who directed me to my OB for getting off. The nurse at the RE said that at 9 weeks they’d just tell me to finish what I had so I took it upon myself to do the above.

De-lurking because you're all having such wonderful US and I think you all deserve a huge hug for getting this far! You're all warrior women in the battle of IF!
My RE told me to just stop the meds at 9w. I ran out of estrogen a few days before and I stopped progesterone (PIO and suppositories) cold turkey when I reached 9w (happiest day ever! My butt was ever so thankful) It depends on each individual but some RE will tell you to stop at 9w, some at 12w, some will say cold turkey and some will say wean. If you're not comfortable with just stopping, talk to your RE and make a plan on how to stop so you can feel more reassured.
Most OBGYN will see you around 9w and will do an US to verify pregnancy, even though you just graduated from RE (no complains here! The more the merrier), so you'll have that extra level of reassurance.
I understand leaving your RE can be a big step, especially for those who have been struggling for a long time. But this is a happy step! Please let's not forget to enjoy it, tap yourself on the shoulder, you deserve it! Even if you're high risk, I think it's important for us to enjoy the little milestones because let's face it, we won't be able to really relax until we're holding a healthy baby in our arms. At least I know I won't be able to really relax until that day.
Congratulations to everyone who is about to graduate, great US all around!
@more14 yeah, pregnancy after IF? Welcome to 9 months of anxiety! But seriously though, awesome news all around today, I think! I remember waiting in the OB's office after I had graduated with a bunch of other pregnant ladies and thinking, "OMG, I'm one of the crowd now!!" Just little things like that feel special. I did PIO to 12 weeks and I think it took another 8 weeks for my butt to be somewhat normal again...

Thank you all for the wishes. Yes I am also asked to wean off starting at 10weeks and end by 12 weeks. I am taking PIO twice a day and they asked me to take once a day from 11/2. Same with estrogen as well. I hope to find my OB/GYN by 10 weeks. I am definitely happy and thankful for reaching this state, the ifs and buts will never go away I guess.
Will they see more frequently at OB/GYN for IVF pregnancies? Or will it be same
@bkatp I know I will be seen more frequently but that’s because I’m high risk geriatric pregnancy, no joke that’s what they call it lol! But I’m not sure if IVF under age 35 still constitutes high risk in their eyes?
So I made an appointment with a nurse practitioner with the new ob practice here in town for 10/31. Their rule is first appt is with the NP to orient you to the practice, do basic tests/labs, then I’ll make next appt with the dr in the practice who I want. We will just pay cash for these since we kept our insurance out of state for IVF benefits as you know. But come January 1 we will switch insurance and actually be able to go to local drs, gasp! That alone will be a big stress off!
I actually never made it far enough to know what my RE will suggest regarding meds. I hope it’s just finishing off what I have. Really don’t want to have to order more meds for a few weeks.
the high risk recommendation was based on the SCH explicitly. Dunno about the MCs or AMA but I’ll take it if I can get more screenings covered. Unfortunately they weren’t able to refer me directly so I’ll have to meet an OB and then get referral to high risk. The last OB I had was completely booked for over a month out so I was reassigned to someone new on 11/14 (11w). Dunno if it’ll just be a formality if I’m just going in for referral.
Thanks for the PAIF survivors for lurking and offering advice and support. Can you give us some insights into what kind of appointments or testing to expect at end of first tri? I’ve been too superstitious to think beyond 9w but I’m a little worried about entering holiday season and planned travel. E.g. I’d be 12 w during thanksgiving week.
Yes thanks to all PAIF graduates for their advices and assurances.
@mrsyng good luck with your appointment Monday. I think this will be ur last appointment with RE and you will be graduating correct ?
I see all of you have planned travels, when is it safe to travel and what modes of transport are ok. I heard people avoid flights not sure of the reason. I cancelled all my work trips until I am comfortable to travel. But we were planning of a trip for thanksgiving by road with a drive of 1-2 hrs
@Momifbysea thank you! Im starting to feel more positive about this pregnancy. I think its because ive had another doctor confirm what my RE was saying. Love your ultrasound- picture is so clear! @bkatp my OB said that by 10weeks your body is making more progesterone than what you could ever inject but theres no harm in having extra. I was told to stop all meds on Thursday by my RE. The OB said i would be just fine if i stopped cold turkey but if i was nervous about it i could keep taking it until i run out or feel comfortable stopping. I was going to continue until i ran out (which would have been 10w) but im running out of injection sites and DH is having a real hard tile injecting more than .5ml so this morning i decided to (try to) trust my doctors and stop the injections. I will see on thrusday how much my progesterone levels changed and reevaluate then. Congratulations on graduating! Im so happy for you! @northbeach3 your numbers look great! Im so glad everything is going good for you! Maybe the SCH is clotting off and thats why is appears bigger but has less fluid? Glad it is not getting worse. My insurance wont pay for extra u/s unless it is medically necessary. Though i guess I cannot complain because when i sat down with the insurance coordinator/financial advisor for the OB she said most people end up paying 6-10k to have a baby (between ob visits and hospital charge). My insurance covers everything 100% except i have a co-pay for my NT u/s and anatomy u/s. The actual doctors office charges a set amount per pregnancy and if you end up having a CS then they adjust to cost. So all the extra visits and u/s they are letting me have is out of their pockets. The doctor said he would rather have his patients be worry free than make a few extra bucks for an u/s which makes me even more happy i was able to get in with him. As for moving on: i have been checking out PAIF and BMB but there is not a lot going one with the ladies in the first trimester in PAIF and my BMB (may 2019) there is a lot of people and most didnt have IF so i feel like i dont fit into either groups. Im comfortable being here.
My OB would see me regularly despite the IVF. Unless you’ll be 35+ when you deliver (I literally turn 35 a month after I deliver) in which case you’re considered high risk and then you get seen more. Or if you have SCH or another issue you may get seen more (I had weekly scans through 12 weeks because of my SCH and then once it cleared I was a “normal pregnant person” and put on the regular monthly Doppler appt schedule.)

@northbeach3 Normally your first trimester appt at the regular OB will be a dating scan (obv. you know your dates so it will likely be just a check for appropriate growth, etc!) and a bunch of bloodwork (STD tests, HIV, CBC, Hepatitis panels, etc). Most OBs now will also do the NIPT - non-invasive prenatal testing - where they draw blood and check for fetal DNA to see if there are any signs of abnormalities and can also tell gender. You can decline this if you want; I didn't get it done because it's not accurate if you have a vanishing twin. You'll likely also give a urine sample for analysis and culture -- they treat asymptomatic UTIs during pregnancy so if something comes up in the culture, they'll give you antibiotics. I had to take a two courses of antibiotics during the end of the 1st trimester/mid 2nd trimester to clear an infection even though I didn't have any symptoms. Routine vitals - blood pressure, weight, etc.
It's also a good time to ask any questions you might have about how prenatal care will go -- how often will you get appts, what tests they're going to do, when you get scans, what's the set up as far as on-call doctor for delivery, etc. I also made a list of questions I had about everyday stuff -- if it was safe to eat soft pasteurized cheese, was taking benadryl for sleep occasionally OK, etc.
My OB office also gives out a goodie bag with books about parenting and pregnancy and free samples of various baby products.
@justharrison I have similar insurance in that I just pay a flat fee for prenatal care (40 dollars) and a flat fee for hospital delivery (250 dollars). My insurance did pay for the misc. peace of mind scans my OB gave me on top of the global package for prenatal but I think if the insurance hadn't paid they would have just written them off. I'm not sure how they coded them though so maybe they coded them as something medically necessary?
PAIF is probably always going to be light for the first trimester -- it's such a trying time for all of us dealing with IF and a lot people don't feel comfortable "moving over" -- which is fine!! We're all rooting for each other though so I like to lurk over here and see where I can offer experience or advice Last year at this time I was in a similar place as you guys (just graduated to my OB in October 2017) and I'm so happy to see good news for my fellow IF ladies!!

@bkatp, @Momifbysea , and @justharrison can't wait to see your updates tomorrow!

@Momifbysea thats great!! Numbers look wonderful too!!
Sorry for such a long detailed post

@justharrison that's wonderful to have such a sweet transition with new obgyn and put you at peace, and your US and comment gave me happy tears! very happy for you!

@babyhopeful442 congrats on a great U/S very happy for you as well!
LOL

@Momifbysea perfect round shape and nice picture
@northbeach3 that’s great news! I think I may be the last one here as my next u/s is 11/1 for the 8-week. Then if that goes well i will graduate to an OB which I need to find, but I will stay on estrace and PIO til week 12. Lots of butt shots in my future!
and nice picture @Momifbysea love it!
I kind of feel left out until I find another doctor, I asked them if I can do one more test with them, not sure if they will agree for that.
is it safe to stop those medications will my placenta pick up ? That day will be 12 weeks 0 days
yep, that's the same time I stopped my medicines.

@bkatp yay to graduating!! I also don’t think my clinic does any sort of special thing upon graduating.
ETA I kind of did this on my own. My OB directed me to my RE who directed me to my OB for getting off. The nurse at the RE said that at 9 weeks they’d just tell me to finish what I had so I took it upon myself to do the above.
My RE told me to just stop the meds at 9w. I ran out of estrogen a few days before and I stopped progesterone (PIO and suppositories) cold turkey when I reached 9w (happiest day ever! My butt was ever so thankful)
It depends on each individual but some RE will tell you to stop at 9w, some at 12w, some will say cold turkey and some will say wean.
Congratulations to everyone who is about to graduate, great US all around!
yeah, pregnancy after IF? Welcome to 9 months of anxiety! But seriously though, awesome news all around today, I think! I remember waiting in the OB's office after I had graduated with a bunch of other pregnant ladies and thinking, "OMG, I'm one of the crowd now!!" Just little things like that feel special.
I did PIO to 12 weeks and I think it took another 8 weeks for my butt to be somewhat normal again...

Will they see more frequently at OB/GYN for IVF pregnancies? Or will it be same
So I made an appointment with a nurse practitioner with the new ob practice here in town for 10/31. That alone will be a big stress off!
the high risk recommendation was based on the SCH explicitly.

Normally your first trimester appt at the regular OB will be a dating scan (obv. you know your dates so it will likely be just a check for appropriate growth, etc!) and a bunch of bloodwork (STD tests, HIV, CBC, Hepatitis panels, etc).
@justharrison
I have similar insurance in that I just pay a flat fee for prenatal care (40 dollars) and a flat fee for hospital delivery (250 dollars).
We're all rooting for each other though so I like to lurk over here and see where I can offer experience or advice
