  • I had my confirmation appt yesterday with a blood test to check progesterone because it was low with my first pregnancy. It’s higher than it was last time, but not high enough. I’ve been prescribed Prometrium. I have to take it vaginally twice a day for a month (when I have my first US). Ugh. I have to lay down for 30 mins afterwards while it works.
  • @nmbrcrnchr1 Sorry I'm late, but hell yes! So so happy for you, friend  <3

  • @eleven_ they kept saying "early US" so I'm assuming it will be between 6 and 7 weeks. Waiting on a call back. Naturally that take lunch at noon as well 🙄
  • Monday @ 330. Its so soon, FX that it's not too soon to see a HB
  • Great to hear, @nmbrcrnchr1 thanks for updating us!
  • @prpl11butterfly how far along will you be on Monday? I know every baby is different but at my US yesterday they were able to see it and I was 6w, they said baby was measuring 5w5d (I know this early that can be a little inaccurate)
  • @nmbrcrnchr1 Monday will be 5+4 based on LMP. I think it will be too early. Hopefully they will let me have another (if Monday doesn't show it) to confirm HB because I NEED that after March.
  • @prpl11butterfly yea, I’d definitely ask for a follow up. My midwife basically asked me “ok when do you want to come back for another scan?” I was kind of shocked, but so greatful bc there’s no way I could wait 6 weeks until they can use a Doppler. FX it won’t be too early AND they give you another follow up scan 😁
  • My Ovia app says it may be possible. I'm not holding out a ton of hope but at least I have some...

This is going to be a looooong wait. First appointment is November 9th for dating ultrasound and dear God, I’m hoping there is only one in there. I don’t know if my body can handle another twin pregnancy (developed pre-e sometime in the last month and a half with my last and was SO sick). Fraternal twins run in my family and the chance of having another set when you already have one (only applies to fraternal sets) is 1 in 12 (some women hyper-ovulate naturally, which is why it “runs in families”). That terrifies me.

I had to go to my PCM today to literally pee on a stick because Tricare requires that I confirm with my PCM before I can get an OB referral. My doctor was like...why are you here? As soon as I said Tricare she was like, say no more, haha.

  • @prpl11butterfly Yes! Betas look great! I hope you can see a HB on Monday.
  • @KissMeImScottish Fingers crossed you have a singleton and can enjoy the pregnancy. You deserve it after the first twins experience!
  • Appt is set for November 12 - I will be 8 weeks and 4 days. Sooooooo long to wait 😩

Oh hello, this was my nightmare last week. I managed to get my referral moments before Pensacola's systems crashed due to Hurricane Michael. That's my only Tricare/Navy Med win - ever.
  • @harrierwife, girl!! My heart goes out to you guys - both for the storm issue (that thing was a beast - you guys ok??) and for the Tricare crap. I’m actually pretty lucky because our house is 31 minutes (per their system, not in real life) from base, and that means I get to be on Prome Remote. It’s worked out well for me, but gah, do I hate dealing with the referral process!! Last pregnancy, there was an issue 1/2 way through where they tried to tell me that the doctor I was seeing was in network but the hospital the doctor had privileges at wasn’t, so I wouldn’t be covered for the birth. I threw a giant tantrum about that and my PCM insurance person really went to bat for me and got everything post dated, but it was a nerve wracking 3 or 4 days. 😒

    What branch are you guys?

  • @KissMeImScottish - Oh, we're not in Pensacola. All Navy aviation medical stuff goes through there, I think? Who knowss...

I might need to pick your brain re: Tricare, then. I'm totally new to this - we only got married last year.

And I think I would have LOST MY MIND if I was told I was on the hook for everything! So glad that worked out for you. MH is a Marine - yours?
  • @harrierwife, ah, gotcha. It totally may he touted through there - Navy Aviation is a pretty small community. And the Tricare shakeup since they consolidated the north and south regions has made everything a big old mess. 🙄

I’m happy to help where I can with Tricare! Feel free to ask if you have questions, I’ll answer if I’m able. We’ve been together for almost 8 years and I’ve had to switch regions three times and have three kids with this coverage, so I’m reasonably familiar and comfortable with their processes and requirements, even if they can be a bear to deal with.

I was pretty freaked when I got that initial bill (it was for, like, $50, because I had to go in for monitoring within the twins and saw the on call doctor at the hospital, which is how I discovered the issue, since I shouldn’t have been charged at all), and of COURSE my husband was out to sea, because they’re ALWAYS gone whej crap like this happens. But multiple hours-long phone calls later, it got squared away. It’s ridiculous, but you really kind of have to keep an eye on everything other wise stuff like this tends to happen, unfortunately.

My husband is a Submariner. My cousin is actually a Marine. She got out last year, but she was stationed at Pendleton (holy Hell, that base is the size of a small state!), and I absolutely loved heading up to K Bay and Bellows Beach when we lived in Hawaii. The marines definitely snagged the best base location on the island.

  • @harrierwife what do you mean Navy Aviation goes through Pensacola? Is your DH a pilot? I have never heard of that. Sounds like a pain.

Anither Tricare user and i have to say changing to selects was the best choice i made. last pregnancy I think I paid $250 for all my prenatal care and less than $100 for L&D at a great hospital.

I was on Prime Remote with my son (husband was on recruiting duty...blech) and I didn't need a referral at all. You're able to self-refer. He's in the reserves now so we have Reserve Select and it was the same case....self-refer. I just called the OBs office I wanted to be seen in and confirmed they accept Tricare and that's all. We've been able to set up with new PCMs after moves or just wanting a new doctor without any contact with Tricare. So long as they're in network you should be go.

When we lived at Camp Lejeune and were on Prime it as different, but Select, Prime Remote, and Reserve Select all work the same.

@Erin1510, I appreciate the input! Unfortunately, Tricare has been pretty clear on the not being allowed to self refer in our case, for whatever reason. Possibly because we’re Remote by choice? (Hubby is stationed at a base with medical care, we just live outside the radius because we own our home) Totally guessing on that, not at all sure if that’s the case. I just know that not having a proper referral from my assigned PCM last time almost ended up costing a whole lot of money, despite the OB being in network. Who knows. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I appreciate not having to pay for health care, but navigating the minutiae of Tricare can be a bit of a headache, as I’m sure you’re aware!

  • Not seeing OB until 11/5, however due to having Hashimotos, I went in for labs to get my TSH and T4 checked. Endo doctor wasn't thrilled with the numbers, so is increasing dosage of synthroid and wants to see me in the office by the end of the month.

Hopefully they can get things stabilized for you quickly @wearyfuzzball!

I have my OB intake the first week in November (the 6th or 7th?) and my first prenatal appointment with my doctor a couple weeks later. They have not scheduled an early ultrasound because I am confident of my dates, so I'm pretty bummed about that. I also have an insurance change with the new year so I will have to switch providers in January. Thankfully I'm returning to the provider who delivered my son, but the insurance hoops are incredibly frustrating.
  • My 8 week appointment is October the 30th and I’m super excited. I have had some pink spotting, only when I’m wiping but nothing on the on the liner. My big sisters are walking me through the process as this is my first pregnancy. I feel good at 6+2. I just can’t wait to hear a heartbeat on the 30th. I’m hoping and praying for a safe delivery and a healthy baby/babies.
