  • @middleschoolmommy I get what you mean. I feel like I won the lottery making it to 36 weeks. I hope things continue to go smoothly for you, dear.
  • @middleschoolmommy It sucks that your Makena is a different day of the week than your regular OB! That would have driven me nuts. Makena got me to 39w with DS2...went into labor on my own but I know what you mean about wanting to stop the shot early.

I had DS1 at 35w. Currently 33w4d with the twins and feel like I would be okay with them coming anytime after 34. Just as long as they avoid NICU like big brother did.

  • When is your appointment?
Tomorrow I go in for my regular weekly appointment.

How far along will you be?
    37weeks + 2 days

    What is being addressed?
I have no idea. I will probably get the flu shot while I am there since I still haven't gotten it yet but other than that, they just said I should start coming in every week.

    Comment/Questions/Concerns
I have been having minor freak outs where I suddenly think that something is wrong with the baby. Everything so far has shown that he is doing well but I still freak out that all of a sudden, something could be wrong. I think being really nervous about giving birth for the first time is also not helping the situation. Hopefully the appointment tomorrow will help ease my mind.

  • @kamahina9 I get the freak-outs too. Ugh. Hope your appt goes well :)

  • @kamahina9 I get the same irrational thoughts. Even my dreams are effected these days!

What is being addressed? Just a 37 week check up and discussion of my hemorrhoid issue.

Comment/Questions/Concerns: Baby is great which is what matters most.  I, however, am super bummed (touché for what’s about to follow) regarding my hemorrhoid situation. My OB took one look and was like “ya, it’s bad” and immediately referred me to a colorectal doctor. I saw him later this afternoon. It is a thrombosed hemorrhoid and has earned me bed rest, Tylenol with codeine and a special butt cream. This third baby is for sure making it known that I am DONE with pregnancy. It is so incredibly painful. I’ve never had to deal with bedrest and am hoping it is short-lived. Wednesday is my follow up appt with the colorectal doctor. If it has gone down some in size, he will remove some of my restrictions. Thank god my short term disability will cover up to 9 weeks. It is only at 60% pay, but better than nothing. I still have so much work to do but am just going to save up my hours worked during my short term disability time to use for the unpaid part of my leave.

@wannaflickone - oh no! That sounds painful. And yes, thank goodness for the disability leave. I hope you heal quick so you can be done with the bedrest.

@laasmith & @ftm_jen - thanks for the reassurance! I'm hoping all the anxiety is just from being a first time mom. And you're right, not even dreams are safe.

  • @wannaflickone Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that.  :s That sounds truly awful. I hope the doctor's recommendations help and you start to feel better soon. Also hope that they go away on their own ASAP!

  • NST and fluid check. Baby is measuring way ahead and they told me I will be having a C section when I deliver. I’m all sorts of emotional about it since I didn’t have a C section with either of my other munchkins.
I'm curious about this. How ahead? How big? I had a gigantic first baby and this one is also gigantic. They offered me a c-section but in no way suggested it was mandatory.....
  • When is your appointment?
    Thursday, 10/18

How far along will you be?
    35w1d

    What is being addressed?
GBS test and finding out if baby boy is still breech.

    Comment/Questions/Concerns:
They did an ultrasound last week to confirm he was breech so idk if they're going to do another one or what.  I'm basically waiting until 38 weeks and hope he flips otherwise I need to consider an external cephalic version.  Sounds/looks painful.  Ugh.

    Monday, Tuesday, and Friday
How far along will you be?

    What is being addressed?
Monday and Friday are my chiropractor appointments. Monday was good because I've noticed a difference in my pain and tolerance with the hip. This morning was my 34 week check up and I was pleasantly surprised to get to meet the new certified nurse midwife at my practice. I've also scheduled my 36 week appointment with her and am looking forward to discussing my birth plan with her more. She even took the time to confirm baby's position is still good. I also got my flu shot.
    Comment/Questions/Concerns:
My only outstanding question that the CNM is chasing down, is whether or not I will qualify to give birth at the Natural Birthing Center. I will be able to have the birth I want pretty much otherwise, so I'm not super stressed or anything, but I did like the tub they had there better. Since I spend a lot of time in water for pain management, and since the NBC is nicer to have my kids at in the event we can have the children there with us, I just wanted to see if we could qualify.
  • When is your appointment? It was this morning.

How far along will you be? 36 + 3

What is being addressed? Too much fluid.

Comment/Questions/Concerns: My fluids decreased. Last Tuesday they were at 29, Friday they were at 35 and today they are back to 29. But my doc isn't satisfied...so my csection has been bumped from Nov 8th to Oct 22nd!
  • @hollyeva what specifically would exclude you from the birth center?

  • @lifesabeach85 The one thing that the previous midwife who is in charge of the center mentioned was my BMI pre-baby. It's borderline, and they don't have the documentation online or a hard-and-fast list published anywhere for you to figure out how one would qualify. Other things that typically rule people out is if they're high-risk or require induction. Since I did get induced with the previous two children, I wouldn't be surprised if that alone would rule me out.
  • @linz36 next Thursday is becoming a popular induction day!  That’s my day too!
  • Size ultrasound and appt yesterday at 37w 5 days.  Still only 1 cm and baby is still high. Also measuring 8.5 lbs so we are scheduled for induction monday 10/29 at 39w 2 days. Going early bc last one went to 41 weeks and was 10lbs 12 oz.  Trying to avoid a repeat of that!
I go next thursday for my last appt and to see if I've dilated anymore. If I don't, they will take me in the night before for the cervidil. Had that last time. It sucks bc you have to sleep there over night and uncomfortably strapped up to monitors which i find IMPOSSIBLE to sleep that way. Then push out a baby the next day and there goes your sleep for months. But I'm pretty sure that's going to end up happening........
  • Had a basic OB appointment today that turned into an ultrasound to check baby’s size. I’m 35+3 and baby measured 39-40 weeks across the measurements. Estimated at 8lbs 1oz already. My OB is not keen on inducing simply due to size, so she put me on strong diet restrictions (zero carbs and sugars) to hopefully lessen the amount of glucose getting to baby and to hold off weight gain while letting him/her cook longer. I see her in two weeks for a basic check up, then the week after that we’ll do another ultrasound to check size again and determine if baby is ready to come
out. If so, she’ll induce me on November 13th at 39 weeks exactly.

OMG thats huge!  I had a 10 lb 12 oz baby at 41 weeks last time. This one is on a similar path so we are inducing at 39 weeks.  Measured 7lb1oz at 34+5 and 8lb8oz at 37+5. You are even bigger!!  I hope they can reign that in a little. I was never put on any food restrictions. I had no idea that could work but it makes sense.
  • @Eveinshock Oh my gosh, 10lbs 12oz! That’s nuts! Did you have GD or just “incubate well” (as my mom puts it)?
I had no idea food restrictions could help either, but the way my OB described why makes sense. We’ll see if it works, but I’m glad she’s willing to induce if it doesn’t.

no GD. He was also 22.5 inches so thankfully the weight was a bit spread out. I don't know what it is really. I am 5'9 and my mom had fairly big babies, (I was 9lb 1 oz).  My MIL doesn't remember but her kids are pretty big now as adults (SIL is 6', husband 6'4, BIL 6'9).

Lemme just warn you I delivered vaginally and it was rough recovery. I'm hoping the 2 week difference in delivery (41 wks to 39) makes a big difference.
  • When is your appointment?
    It was today
How far along will you be?

    What is being addressed?
It was a normal weekly check
    Comment/Questions/Concerns:
Baby is measuring exactly the same as last week based on fungal height, so I have to go back for a growth ultrasound. I'm hoping she's just dropped down and throwing off the measurement.

Pretty far ahead- they said 3-4 weeks. I’m high risk because of a rare condition called Pregnancy and Lactation Induced Osteoporosis (diagnosed when I spontaneously sustained 8 fractures on my thoracic spine a few weeks after my second was born) so they don’t want to mess around with anything that could cause my brittle bones more fractures. I’m pretty nervous about the c section.  But I also don’t want a labor/delivery like I had with my first who was over 9 lbs, needed forceps, I tore and needed to be cut, it was brutal.
  • @Eveinshock Sounds like we’re pretty similar.. I’m 5’10” and my mom had ginormous babies (I was 9lbs 15oz). MIL said her two were both in the low 7lbs, and DH is 6’4” and BIL 6’3”.
I’m honestly terrified to try to deliver vaginally if this baby gets much bigger..
