Somewhat unrelated, but didn’t want to start a random thread, also somewhat related....anyone ever had jury duty? I was told I could get out of it due to pregnancy, but I’d have to reschedule within 6 months, which would put me at newborn....so I chose to suck it up and go. Mainly I’m worried about bathroom breaks and the fact that I have to eat constantly to keep the nausea at bay, and how both of those will work with what I’m expecting to be less than flexible “supervisors/coworkers”. Anyone else have to deal with this, and any advice? It starts in two hours 😬
@catwoman8731- Hopefully you don't even get called for a panel. I never have. Wear stuff that makes you look as pregnant as possible! And definitely make clear that you will need very frequent bathroom breaks because of the pregnancy. Any question to which that's remotely responsive, raise your hand or put it on the form. That should help you get dismissed from any panel if you do get pulled for one.
So, I ended up going to a physio that specializes in women/pregnancy and have been working on some things that should help, I also found out i have terrible posture at a desk so trying to train myself to keep upright will be a first step. I've booked three more appts with her and hoping I can keep the pain bearable at work!
I had to sit through orientation and was dismissed from one case, but have to report back tomorrow again. So we will see! The nice part is it’s a later start time than my regular job, so I get to sleep in a bit and drop DD off at day care a little later than usual.
Had to tell a parent something they didn’t want to hear today. Immediately was painted to my boss as being aggressive, emotional, irrational and rude. Hmm wonder if they’d say that about a non pregnant woman ...
@becks_726 EXACTLY! It made me so mad. Luckily my boss’s response was amazing and she copied her boss on it so there’s nowhere else to escalate unless they choose to escalate their butts right out of our school

I want jury duty so bad and have only been called once and they didn't need me.
@BourbonBiscuits - They wouldn't say it to/about a man, that's for sure.
A girl who started after me in a department I work closely with (finance) was just promoted - She works way less hours than me (she works 40 hours a week while I work 60 on an easy week) and hasn't managed to do one thing correctly for our team - I'm bitter because I've never been promoted at work - ever. Every title increase has been due to switching jobs and I've only had one non-COLA pay increase ever. I work my ass off and feel like because I've been pregnant and momming the last 5 years, I'm being punished professionally for it.
@kayjay44 can you talk to your manager/ boss about wanting a more direct career path- or more insight on how to move ahead in your role? Sometimes being direct and letting them know you want something can help open their eyes a bit.

@smallbutmighty77 - I have, but it's hard when I've spent the last 6 years working on super lean teams where we're generally scrambling to get shit done let alone focusing on career pathing.
@kayjay44 That sucks. Especially considering that just recently you shared that they recognized you for your great work! You'd think that would result in a promotion. I agree that it certainly seems like some kind of unfair system is going on!
I was actually really surprised that I got a promotion a few weeks after announcing my pregnancy. It was also after putting in my notice, which I rescinded a week later. So maybe that's why they are treating me so well despite my "condition." Baha
@lzzfrancisco Sounds about right. Two of our best people quit within a week at my office recently, the following pay period I got a pretty big raise out of nowhere. My boss says it’s because he wants to make sure I come back after mat leave. Not that I was planning on leaving, but if they thought I might...
