What do you miss?

What is something you miss that you either ate, drank, or did before pregnancy? Something that you won’t do pregnant because it would either be A. Not advisible while pregnant
B. Dangerous for baby, or
C. Not so much dangerous or unadvisible, just socially frowned upon. 


We have two sleeping beauties in heaven.

  • I won't lie, I miss alcohol. My nose is super sensitive and I can smell whiskey from across the room and it smells amazing.... same with wine. I also miss sleeping well and not having to get up in the middle of the night to pee.

  • I miss sleeping on my back, being able to take medicine to manage my symptoms when I'm sick, sushi, not having to monitor my caffeine intake, social drinking.
    A local brewery recently had a can release party that included a sour peach sherbert beer and I am so bummed I couldn't go enjoy this.
  • Wine and sushi and my waist! I definitely will sit there and sniff DH red wine any time he has a glass! 
  • Waist is a good one. I definitely miss my flat stomach. 
  • Sex. The occasional drink. Coffee.

  • Booze and my vape. No lie, those were the best ways to decompress after a craptacular day and dear god I miss them.

  • I miss vaping most of all. My husband keeps vaping my favorite flavor and I want to throat punch him. I hate the smell right now but miss the flavor.

  • Beer!! I’m ok without wine, never been a big booze drinker but I miss ice cold beer so, so much. Fall/winter styles are my favorites so it’s especially painful. I had both sushi and a cold deli sandwich this weekend so I don’t really miss those :mrgreen:

  • Medicine! Ugh especially Advil. These headaches are dumb. 
  • Medicine, uncapped caffeine, tequila/margaritas, staying up late, DELI MEAT.... i might miss deli meat most of all.... i want prosciutto every single solitary day.

    one thing i surprisingly don't miss is my waist... i actually am enjoying having a bump right now! i never had a totally flat tummy anyway, so it's been NICE not to have to suck in :)

  • I can't say I miss much. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 

    Most of the food restrictions (deli meat, sushi, raw dairy, etc.) I don't think are based on actual fact and legitimate risk, so I don't follow those. 

    I don't drink much alcohol to begin with, maybe 1-2 drinks a month, and I like very few types of alcohol anyway, so it's not a big deal at all to stop entirely. I haven't had a drink at all in over two years anyway due to my last pregnancy and then still breastfeeding when I got pregnant this time.

    I don't like or drink coffee, energy drinks, pop or tea, so the caffeine thing doesn't affect me at all. 

    I don't take any medications regularly and try to avoid headache pills and other OTC meds and such if I can, so that hasn't affected me.

    I LOVE having a bump/no waist! My belly hasn't been flat in a long time and not working hard enough to heal my diastis between pregnancies didn't help matters :|, so I tend to suck in a lot of the time. And I love not "having to" do that! (I realize I don't ever "have to" suck in, but you know what I mean.) 

    Honestly, being pregnant doesn't change my lifestyle much at all. The only issue this time is that I've had a lot more pelvic pain than last time. So I could say I miss being able to do more without being in pain. But, it's not always, and I've actually been pain free for a week or so now, so I can't complain that much. 
  • I too do not miss my waist. I am enjoying every moment of this bump, especially now that it’s really bumpin! 
  • I miss coffee most of all. I'm not worried about the caffeine cause I'm a one cup a day kind of girl anyway but I've had an aversion to it since about week 5  :s 

    I drank maybe twice a month before I got pregnant, but I miss beer and wine more than I thought I would. @mamakate1616 I'm with you, fall and winter beers are the best and I'm jealous when other people have them!

    And of course... I miss sleeping through the night!
  • Ugh.... So many things.... 

    I'm with a lot of ladies here... I miss my waist. I might be a big girl, but I've always had a nice hourglass figure and a relatively flat tummy for being a big girl. Most my weight has always been in my hips, thighs, and butt. So now that my stomach is growing its so depressing. I also miss beer and DH won't stop drinking around me and it annoys me. I miss sleeping comfortably. In always uncomfortable. I miss not having to monitor my caffeine intake. I miss not being an emotional wreck. I feel like I cry all the freaking time now. I am not normally a crier. I miss just about everything from my pre-pregancy life. 

    Of course I could just be super grumpy today too. 
  • The only thing I really miss is running for hours through the mountains with my husband. We would plan huge mountain runs to explore whenever we went places and now I'm just hiking. I do love hiking, but it's so much slower than running. I know that I could probably run, but I have been super paranoid this pregnancy due to a previous loss so hiking has been better for my mental status. 

    I also love my baby bump! I had a really flat stomach before and I'm sure it might never go back to that, but I still think baby bumps are so cute!

    (The option of drinking) mimosas, raw sushi, having a small waist, not having to pee throughout the night and Advil. Oh, and my patience.  (I am MEAN this pregnancy and it's not a good look!)

  • I miss alcohol (a lot!) and I miss feeling sexually attractive. 

    God bless the people who miss certain physical activity/exercise. I will use any excuse to be sedentary.
  • I miss wine, beer, and cheese tasting. Especially since it’s pumpkin beer season. I miss being able to order anything off a menu and not worry. I miss Advil. And I miss sleeping through the night. 
  • I miss being able to belay my boyfriend rock climbing and lead climbing up things. 

    I also miss weighing less then my boyfriend. He is a tall stick and now I’m a tall thick stick. I have gained 15 lbs and am only 17 weeks fml. My midwife isn’t worried, but I hate weighing myself in front of my skinny ass boyfriend. 


  • I miss coffee, a flat stomach and something stronger than tylenol for tension headaches. 

    I may have to give into coffee soon...some days I can barely stay awake / concentrate at work.  :D

    @mountainmama3r Step away from the scale! It'll just drive you crazy...least that's what I've always said! I won't let MH have one in the house. lol

  • I didn't miss alcohol much at first, because I felt so crummy, but now that I'm in the second trimester upswing, there are days that I would kill for a glass of wine!

    Also, sushi, Jimmy John's (yes, I know I could hear up the meat, but...gross), over easy eggs, and eating the dough/batter of anything I'm baking.
  • @emarcinek99 don't worry, the flat stomach comes back after a little while :)
    @kristimh80 I totally gave into coffee, at least 1/2 -1 cup or so per day. helped my headaches and my productivity

    I miss not worrying all the time. I'm just crossing my fingers that things go ok this time around. Sex would be nice, too. And ibuprofen.

  • I very much miss alcohol which is funny because over the years I dont drink as much because i don't like getting sleepy from the effects, but i could really go for a good margarita, some wine or even a wine cooler LOL...i also miss caffeine....i'm a Monster/Redbull/energy drink fanatic...and not having them at all makes me sad. My tolerance for both is probably going to be screwed come March LOL.

    My OB gave me the green light on Jimmy John's. She said as long as the deli meat isn't prepackaged (like oscar meyer) that it's okay.

  • I’m missing craving and enjoying sex. It’s a chore now, and I feel guilty about it.

    I miss booze with my brunch and weekend cocktails. I’m not much of a weeknight drinker.

    I miss Advil Cold and Sinus when my sinuse headaches act up.
  •  Same here. wine and sushi are the main things I miss.  And our boat we go to the coast often and I just dont feel comfortable being bounced around on the boat when the water is choppy. Which it is 90% of the time. 
  • Beer. There's a great small brewery near me and I miss trying their new experiments. I was also at the beach over the weekend and the weather was beautiful and everyone was sitting outside with cold beer or cocktails and I felt pretty jealous as I sipped on my soda water with lime... I have an overly-active, anxious brain and I'm still trying to figure out how to calm it down and relax in social situations without a drink. 

    Also, not worrying about "germs". I've never been a germophobe but I'm really paranoid about getting sick now. I'm pissed at my co-workers who are coughing and sneezing all around me. They're just doing work at their computers all day. They could easily work from home (it's a very relaxed work environment) and not contaminate everything in the office. Ugh.
  • @lucysmom2016 I ate Jimmy Johns for lunch today...without heating. It’s the 2nd time I’ve had it this pregnancy. I don’t feel bad about it! 
  • Beer here too! I miss it so damn much I often take a small sip of DHs just for a swish. Sometimes I might swish two sips lol. But I’d love to just sit down and enjoy a full beer. 

    I also miss my energy and mostly pain free body. 

    I’ve eaten deli meats plenty. I did skip sushi but only because I wasn’t sure I was passed my fish aversion. Had it been a few weeks later I probably would have eaten that too.

    I used to LOVE a good margarita. But I have no interest in hard liquor while pregnant. I was with my sisters at happy hour and they enjoyed flavored margaritas while I drank a limeade. That was the only time I missed it for the social aspect, but I didn’t crave it for the taste or effects. 

    I had just about the worst day ever at work the other day & when it was over I went to my sister’s house to vent. She offered me a tiny glass of bubbly so I had my first sips of champagne during this pregnancy. Not too much & not too high alcohol content—just enough to ease my nerves before I had a potential breakdown. I don’t think I will do it again for a long time but boy was that a nice reminder of normal life. 
  • I agree with @sejica : I miss people treating me like a human being and not attributing everything that I say or do as pregnancy-related. I also miss mimosas.  So, so much.

    (and @mountainmama3r I'm right there with you on the weight gain:  16 pounds in 17 weeks.  I'm trying to avoid the scale but I can SEE the difference!)
