As we get closer to our EDD, do we need to revive/restart a hospital bag thread? What about a postpartum first aid thread? (what stuff to take from the hospital, what to buy, where to put stuff for the first few weeks home after baby) Any other logistics we can use the hive mind for?
@Jens_Hoes I was thinking I'd love a third tri, what's left on your to do list thread! (Mostly because I feel like I'm forgetting things!)
AFM, I'm trying to catch up after a week away. My husband was out of town for work for a few days last week, so I had the pleasure of waking up at dawn, getting DD ready for preschool, walking the dog, driving an hour in one direction to drop her off, then an hour back in the opposite direction to get to work, then working like a crazy person to get everything done in time to leave 2 hours before my normal time to pick her up. Then once my husband was back in town, I had a huge deadline and spent the rest of the week working 12-13 hour days. So I basically spent the weekend napping because all of that with third tri exhaustion totally kicked my ass. This week should be busy but not *that* busy, so I'm hoping to catch up and participate again! Hope you're all doing well! I've missed you guys!
@maureenmce Holy smokes Mamma - you need a spa day!! Hope this week is less chaotic!!
I am STILL waiting to hear about the promotion I interviewed for 2 weeks ago. Hoping I hear something this week. It’s stressing me out to the point I got a giant cluster of cold sores on my lip just in time for my second shower this weekend! Joy!
I'm down for a third trimester type thread and/or to revive the hospital bag thread. Time is creeping up on me and this baby is going to get here and I'm going to have nothing done lol.
AFM, been away a couple weeks because we were all sick Then this past weekend was DS's 2nd bday and of course I left everything to the last minute to do so I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. But it's done, and it was wonderful.
I'm spending every free second calling our utility providers, USPS, the bank, etc etc to get everything in order for our move next week. Ugh but i really just want a nap!
@Hollyyyyy that’s 6 whole months after our babies! @maureenmce I’m glad you survived the week and that things are less stressful from here on. @countrygirl624 Good luck! I hope you hear back soon!
I need to AW my curtains that I made for DS’s big boy room. They are not perfect, but I had never used a sewing machine before yesterday, so I’m feeling pretty proud! I bought an extra set of his bedding on clearance, some discounted blackout curtains, and borrowed the sewing machine, so they cost less than $30!
@Jens_Hoes I think those are great ideas for threads! @maureenmce you definitely need a day to relax! @countrygirl624 good luck with the job - hopefully you hear something soon!
We booked a weekend trip with the kids at the end of October so I’m counting down to that. It’s going to be much needed!
1) I had one of those dreams last night where you wake up and think, "Well thank goodness that was just a dream." In it, H was also pregnant, due in for his c-section (because, naturally) right around the time I was due too. And he'd told me the day before his c-section that he was pregnant (and somehow I hadn't noticed?? his belly looked muscly and barely protruding), which totally made me freak out. I hadn't been expecting to essentially bring twins home, and also I hadn't realized that this would be my last pregnancy (since we're currently only planning on 3), so I would have savored it more. I told him we would need to buy more diapers. #priorities So odd!
2) I met with the birth photographer today! She's super sweet, but more importantly, I was really proud of myself for actually voicing my wants and making changes to my package -- I don't need maternity done, because a family friend took photos while we were in Indiana, and I like the look of the Fresh 48/in-home session more than the posed newborn shots. She was totally on board and excited with the changes; we'll do a milestone shoot around 6 months to replace the maternity! Also the toddler randomly was SUPEr well-behaved and sweet during the consult. What's that about, kid?!

@Jens_Hoes good call on the postpartum thread as well as the pack your hospital bag thread.
Also, I am feeling a need to balance out my constant bitching with some focus on the good stuff. Would anyone else be interested in a gratitude thread?
@PensiveCrayon lol to your dream. @Hollyyyyy we are going to Indiana, the only thing I know we are doing is checking out the Children’s Museum because it looks like a ton of fun!
What are you guys doing for bras at this point? Buying a regular bra in a size up or switching to nursing/maternity/other bras already? Mine are tight and my underwire is poking into my armpits. I think we discussed this somewhere else but my brain search isn't working.
@tunnel I switched to a nursing bra forever ago lol. My underwire got super uncomfortable and I lived with it for maybe a week before ordering a nursing bra.
@tunnel I've been in nursing bras for 3 months at this point, lol. I didn't see the point in buying other bras when I needed something new!
My random is that our roommate moved out a few weeks ago and there were some things that were his that now we need to replace, like a couch. So after looking for 3 weekends, we finally made the purchase on Sunday! It should come in 1-2 weeks and I'm SOOO excited. We also decked out the upstairs bathroom. A gray shower curtain with birch trees and little birds on it. And then we themed the rest of the bathroom with matching art and towels and stuff. It's the best decorated room in the house, y'all. The only thing left to get are stools for our counter, then we've replaced all the big items that were his!
@tunnel I'm still in my regular VS underwire bra. My boobs haven't gotten out of control yet (fuller, but nothing major), but I'll probably be switching to a nursing bra real soon. I have a couple of the new Bamboobies Yoga Nursing Bras that are like a sports bra, but stretchier and really breathable.
@PensiveCrayon Good for you for voicing your wishes on the photo sessions...at least you will be getting exactly what you want! In addition to the bra talk, I ordered some of the intimate portal underwear you recommended months ago and I love them...so comfy!
@omnommer Yay for decorating how you want and getting new, fun things!
@CecilB93 Good game last night! I actually thought the Broncos would lose by a bit more, so I'm proud of them for leading at the half and keeping it a close game.
@katy0990 Nice work on the curtains! Hmm, maybe I should make some curtains for DD's new room. Her blinds do not match the new furniture and paint.
@maureenmce Woof, I forgot how long of a drive it is for you to take DD to daycare...that must have been exhausting!
AFM, I think we will finally finish painting the trim in DD's new room tonight and MH will go get her furniture tomorrow to start setting up. We might have her in her new room this weekend, eeeepppp! Wish us luck on transitioning to a big girl bed.
@clbness I think DH was expecting them to lose by more, too. What's fun about Chiefs/Broncos games is my cousin is a Broncos fan, so we always bicker back and forth during games. I text him at one point towards the end, Broncos had the ball and had maybe one or two plays left to score, and I asked, "You nervous? I'm nervous. This could go either way." Lol, usually there's a pretty obvious winner (aka him...) for these games, but last nights game was intense! Our defense needs to step it up though, we're lucky we have a good offense this year.
@tunnel I bought new bras in the beginning and have purchased bra extenders for now. I have nursing tanks for the beginning weeks and plan to buy new nursing bras once I regulate my supply. @katy0990 those look great! Just yesterday I said I wish I knew how to sew so I could make my own suck pads for my baby carriers. I don’t even own a sewing machine, so I probably need to just buy the suck pads. @clbness good luck on the bed transition!
@clbness Good luck! FWIW I was sort of terrified to transition DS, especially because he has never been a great sleeper. I am not sure if it is because he has more room in the twin bed, or what, but he has typically been sleeping better than he was in the crib and I am so thankful!
If it’s worth anything, we made a big deal about it when we transitioned and our DD got so excited every step of the way. New bedding, new pj’s, new sound machine and then helping DH put the bed together. She loved the switch and still does!
@clbness good luck with the transition! We transferred DS (almost 22 months) to his new room & big boy bed this last weekend. It's a difficult transition in that he can now get out of bed and come our of the room, but I know it's good for him & he's steadily making progress every night. I refused to buy a second crib when I know he can crawl out of his any minute if he really wants to (he's crawled out of the PnP twice).
Someone is helping me sort the newborn clothes ... I keep telling him it’s for his baby sister - he doesn’t seem impressed!
Also my boss planned a dept lunch today that I thought was to celebrate birthdays but turned out they surprised me with a baby gift! The 31 bag behind my dog had diapers, wipes, cute little hats and a $200 gift card to Pottery Barn!! I am so happy!!! That pays for half of the car seat!!!
@countrygirl624 That's so sweet of your work! And your dog is cute. @maureenmce Yay for AC at the office! We were having AC problems for about a month in August/September and I was running around in tank tops (in a professional attire environment) - lol!
2 randoms: I signed all the closing paperwork on my house (that we're selling) so now the buyer's closing is Friday and we are officially sold!
Also (and more interesting), the movie double double toil and trouble is on Hulu! If you haven't seen this 90s mary kate and Ashley classic, I urge you to run, don't walk, to your nearest couch and check it out. I was going to watch hocus pocus, but now my big plans have changed.
@maureenmce Yay for AC...let there be (cold) airrrrrrrrr! I've been dragging my feet on the big kid bed too, but it's getting hard for me to bend over the side of the crib. Sometimes I just drop her down in there...she thinks it's hilarious. @CecilB93 Your offense IS good and I think Mahomes is going to do great things in KC! I have SO MANY friends and family that are Chiefs fans, I can't escape them. @countrygirl624 How nice of your coworkers! P.S. I'm pretty sure we had those grey jammies on top of the pile there.
@snugglyduckling25@katy0990@LLynde5@temmetime Thanks! I'm hoping it's easy for her, but I think I'm worried about her not staying in bed more than anything. She doesn't climb out of her crib, but I guarantee she will be wanting to get out of her bed (if she's anything like me )! I have been trying to make a big deal out of the whole room change for her and I bought her Moana sheets to make the bed more appealing. Hopefully there's no push back!
I feel completely out of the loop, and I'm sorry for not going through and tagging. I'm ready for the facebook group already.
I was oot last week for work, and it was a shitshow. Just much longer days than I anticipated, on top of already not feeling great. But I survived, and won't be traveling for work again until I'm back from maternity leave.
Got some not great news about my mom this week, but it's kind of just what it is. I don't really know what to expect in the coming months, and I don't think she, my dad, or her doctors do, either. She continues to defy logic with her activity level and how she's been feeling, so just continuing to be grateful for each day she's feeling okay and every day we get to spend with her.
@runrinserepeat sorry to hear about your rough week and especially you mom. But I really admire your attitude about it, hard as it may be to remember sometimes.
@runrinserepeat thanks for the update on your mom. I’m praying for the miracle. If I ever get to met you, I am warning you now that I have the biggest hug for you! You are way stronger than you know and from the sounds of it you proudly get that from your Mama!!
@clbness we put a baby gate in the door jam of DD’s room. Not to necessarily lock her in but more so to keep Charlie our 110 lb pup out. Any chance he can, he sleeps right next to her bed but DD desperately wants him to sleep in her bed. I fear he will smush her somehow. He sleeps in my bed and if he hears a noise that he needs to check out I know how it feels to be stepped on. Ouch!!
Anyways if she does get out of bed, She walks to her gate and calls for us. Again fear, I fear her roaming and startling our 16 year old dog in the dark. I swear my dog are great with her but I could never live with myself if something happened and I couldn’ve have done something to prevent it.
