@countrygirl624 that’s so nice of your work! @LLynde5@clbness I woke up to DS2 and DS3 trying to scale the baby gate to our stairs at 2am at ~20 months. We ended up turning their door knob around to lock them in because a gate was nothing for them to find a way around. We would also get up at 5am and find them on top of their dresser or in the drawers (furniture was all attached). DS1 never did anything like that, so I definitely blame it on having a partner in crime! I hope your transition is nice and easy - I tell the story because now I can laugh about it....I laughed some then, but now they are 6 and not much has changed, the two of them come up with crazy ideas.
My son is WILD about everything else, but for some reason, he hasn’t realized he can climb over the rail and out of his bed. I’m thanking my lucky stars and hoping this continues....
@clbness we are prepping to switch to a big boy bed over here too.. I'm dreading it way more with this kiddo than I did my older 2! Fingers crossed it goes well for you!
YOU GUYS! My oldest son... let's just call him The moody preteen... the one who doesn't open up to me about things ever... sat down to get advice from me about a crush he has on a girl! I was beaming from ear to ear the rest of the night! I felt like a mom champion! That is all.
@snugglyduckling25 your story has me sweating...I am still a little nervous about having a boy. My DD is a free spirited wild child and boys seem to be slightly more active. I can just see my two holigans getting into so much trouble and double the boo boos.
@LLynde5 haha! Boys definitely have more energy than I ever thought possible, but I have some mamas boys and they also love just as hard. Nothing ever surprises me at this point and my reactions to injuries has changed quite a bit in the last 9 years. I used to panic about everything, now I’m like, “okay - that’s a trip to urgent care, let’s get in the car.”
@orangecrush29 I don’t exactly know how you feel, but I can totally imagine it! My oldest loves to snuggle and talk to me, but never about emotional stuff and I dread middle school/ high school if he keeps it up! Yay for a mom win for you tonight!
@runrinserepeat I'm sorry about the not great news about your mom. Sending positive thoughts your way. Definitely wonderful that she's feeling well, though! Hopefully that continues! I wish there was more I could say or do for you.
@morgantu congrats on selling your house!!! What a great milestone. And I forgot about Double Double Toil and Trouble! Definitely need to watch it!
@snugglyduckling25 lol on the urgent care comment. My youngest nephew is 4 and I was pregnant for just about his whole first year. As babies, I didn’t see huge difference between them in terms of development, just sweet lil babes. My DD seemed to do everything at the same pace as my nephew, weirdly like I would get all excited that DD rolled over and the next day I would have a timehop of my nephew doing the same thing a year prior (they are 51 weeks apart). Anyways all that seemed to disappear when my nephew hit two! The energy, climbing, jumping!! He’s whine is more of a demanding scream. His gross motor skills are off the chart but DD has caught up to him in language and social skills. I realize I am comparing apples to oranges and no two kids are close to the same. It more the fear of keeping up with a little boy!!
@runrinserepeat Good to see you back! I’m so sorry the news about your Mom wasn’t great. I agree with @LLynde5, you’re such a strong gal and I have so much respect for you. ❤️ @snugglyduckling25 Oh my stars, those twins!
OMG, I’m up watching the Rockies/Cubs game (bottom of the 13th right now) and I am so wired/nervous/excited! It reminds me of when I was pregnant with DD and my Royals were in the World Series and I stayed up late to watch all the games.
@runrinserepeat I’m sorry the news isn’t great about your mom, but am glad she continues to have more strength and energy than predicted. I hope you all get to enjoy as much time as possible with her. ❤️
@ wait, sorry, too lazy to go back and tag everyone, but to all the mamas talking about kids making the escape from their bedrooms, climbing gates, etc: DD can’t open her own bedroom door. It’s a little tough to turn the handle, but it means she knocks on the door if she needs something between her bedtime and ours. We leave it open when we go to bed.
What’s odd about this whole thing about not being able to open her bedroom door is that for the past 2 years, she can open literally every other door in the house, including all deadbolts and in the past, “childproof” doorknob covers which we don’t bother with anymore. On more than one occasion, when it got quiet, I found her outside or heading out the door on her own. Now thankfully she at least announces her plans, so I am not worrying about her walking into the street.
I'm also too lazy to tag people but my DD (16 months) is an insane person. I don't think it has anything to do with girl vs boy, but my husband's genes. My niece, who is 4, is also a crazy person. They are both a shining example of how girls aren't necessarily less active/crazy than boys. So, I guess be scared no matter what you're having
@Llynde5 We have a gate in DSs doorway as well. I was afraid he would get into the bathroom and get into something. We had a few days where we did it without the gate and he'd wake up and come to he side of the bed, which was adorable but I felt safer with the gate. Plus who knows, he may have figured how to open the gate at the top of the stairs and that could end badly!
@snugglyduckling25 Oh my gosh! Sometimes DS put his foot up on the gate like he's trying to climb out but never gets any farther, because there is nowhere to put his foot. lol

You guys are sweet, but I'm not strong and I'm not dealing with this well. You can ask @coybig, I'm pretty sure this week has broken me. Need to look into starting yoga or something, in addition to getting in with the shrink and possibly starting medication earlier rather than later.
@runrinserepeat I'm sorry that it's not great news for your mom, but I am so happy for each additional day that she has energy and you get to spend time with her. Definitely get yourself the help you need during this tough time - it'd be hard for anyone, let alone someone with all these pregnancy hormones mucking things up! And yoga sounds like an amazing addition to help. Another one (that has a small fee) is an app called Headspace. They have all sorts of different guided meditations on different themes and it's been very helpful for me for dealing with my anxiety. I bet they have a set on grief and hardship. For me, just taking 2-10 minutes in a dark room and listening to a guided meditation while breathing really helps to calm me. It doesn't for everyone, but it doesn't hurt to try!
Thinking of you @runrinserepeat. How we are all feeling right now can be so hard without the extra sadness stress and concerns you are having to deal with. Hugs.
@runrinserepeat I wish there were words to make it better, but sending you so much love. I think yoga and getting into see a therapist are great ideas to make sure you take the time to take care of you.
Re: Kids climbing out of cribs... DS just turned 2 and I am just counting down the days until he discovers he can climb out. I have no idea how it hasn't happened already *knock on wood*.
@countrygirl624 That was so nice of your office! Your pic totally gave me nesting envy... I think I'll clean out DS's closet today to make room for baby girl's clothes, wince they're share the space.
DS had his 2 year checkup on Monday and was referred to speech therapy. I'm so glad he's getting help and the doctor seems confident it will help improve his speech. I can't imagine how frustrating it is to not be able to express your wants and needs.
ETA... also so ready for the facebook migration. I hate this platform lol
@Jens_Hoes YES! My DD is a tornado turned into a human. People keep warning me about getting a high energy boy and I will bet each one of them a million dollars that this LO will not be crazier than my DD.
@runrinserepeat I'm so, so sorry. I hope yoga and/or medication brings some relief in some way.
@countrygirl624 My patience with the desktop version has been wearing thin. It seriously loads SO FREAKING SLOW that it's almost unusable, yet I prefer it to the mobile Safari site because the horrible autocorrect is rage-inducing, so it's difficult to type much of anything. (I don't even bother with the app, although maybe I should.)

Re: the bump method...I've only ever used the app. Anytime I log in on a computer I hate it. Also counting down the (unknown number of) days till we move!
@hkom Cool! And yes to avoiding the app. I can hardly use it! Thus why I'm more of a weekday user... because I check The Bump from my computer at work.
@runrinserepeat knowing yourself is important. Proud of you for reaching out to your doctor for help. Take it easy and revel in each moment with your mom.
Hiiii I’m posting and ghosting. My job is hosting a training today and yesterday and so I’m solely mobile bumping which I hate. Hope you all had a great mean girls day yesterday, I spent way too much time yesterday explaining to women not in my cohort what mean girls day is and why it’s October 3rd lol everything with me is the same, I’m uncomfortable most of the day, DD is intermittently adorable.
I ordered my breast pump yesterday. I’m questioning my choice, but it’s done. I chose the spectra s2. Last babies I went with Medela freestyle. Hoping the spectra was a good choice.
@Activebaby I ordered mine yesterday too. It will not process until 5 weeks prior to due date though, so I can change my mind. I chose the Freemie. I am praying that it was a good choice. I also have the Medela freestyle from last time as backup.
