Re: Oct 2018 FET

  • @mkr_0128 the inactive phase is so hard, but yay for starting tomorrow! I seriously doubt a 3 hour delay will have an impact. I know I had a couple days that were off by that much as well.

@purplg8r so glad you don’t have to stress about travel now, I know that would be crazy to have so many variables to think about! Does that mean transfer on the 11th before you go?

@ndz2018 throwing AF your way ;-) lol that chocolate though... 😋

@mama2b1974 @griffin5413 @Bababatty sorry to hear you’ve had similar symptoms, hopefully it’s the last period we need endure for a while!

@Bababatty good to hear labs went well, keep us posted on Friday!

AFM the ultrasound looked good today, so even the lower dose of lupron was effective! I asked what time of day they would have me dose PIO (since it’s a first for me) and they said morning as well, when we get to that stage. Good luck to you ladies, I’m so relieved the cycle wasn’t cancelled 😅

  • @ndz2018 - I added my info to the spreadsheet and I think it saved.
@purplg8r - you definitely don't want to miss her party! That's great that the date should be flexible. Are you hoping to transfer before you leave or when you get back?
@mkr_0128 - With Lupron, do you have your transfer date yet? I started Lupron a few days before my last BCP.

Yesterday was my last Lupron shot! Of course that's just a little break until the fun shots start on Sunday with PIO. little tip... last time I put a little ice on my hip before I did the injection and it helped a lot b/c that needle is no joke! It's starting to hit me that FET is a week from tomorrow. Since i'm not doing Acupuncture this time, I at least scheduled a massage for Tuesday hoping that will help me relax more  u/s lining check and b/w will be Friday to make sure I'm on track.

  • @hereforthebabies glad your cycle isn't canceled!! I'm curious now to ask mine about the PIO timing (my sheet says evening though...)

@Griffin5413 my transfer date is tentatively 10/30-11/2! I hope this last week for you goes quick :) I definitely want to try the ice thing for the PIO, the anticipation is nerve wracking for all those deep shots!
  • @mkr_0128 good to hear from you! don't worry it actually happened to the 2 times I was on BCP with some spotting too and the nurse always reassure me, so you're ok. I also took my last BCP last sunday and AF came today and i started with Estrace this morning. and I hear you how boring that can be when you feel like you're not doing anything. I will be on estrace for a month! that pisses me off too! for a transfer estimated on 10/24  :( it's taking too long!
  • Oh good thanks for the reassurance @babydust2507 :) glad you started the next step! Wow a month!? Don't worry though, you still transfer before me! :)
  • Have any of you ladies asked or been told success rates of FET?? (I have Google it before of course and swear I saw 60-70%s. I was on the phone with a doctor today and asked what the chances are, and he told me:
    1. That with subsequent transfers/failures your chances decrease (ummm I thought with each transfer your odds increase? Isn't that what they say? Cause they say like 50% of women (naturally) will get pregnant within 6 months, and 90% within a year, or something like that. I'm very confused). Anyway, so with it being my first transfer my odds were "good".
    2. With a "good" grades embryo, success of implantation and pregnancy is 45-50%....

Maybe I misinterpreted what I read online, but couldn't help feeling a little down after my phone call. Just wondering if any of your doctor's had other input :)
  • @mkr_0128 I don’t think the three hour delay would affect anything.

@hereforthebabies they still haven’t given me a definitive date. Boo. im glad everything still looked good for you!!

@Griffin5413 I honestly don’t know what I’m hoping for!  Part of me wants it done ASAP but another part is worried about flying (even though it’s perfectly safe and I’m not a nervous flyer at all. )  I’m so scared of the PIO shot.  My dr prescribes lidocaine so that’s good but I won’t really trust it until I do it the first time.  Plus it seems so hard to self-administer.  And your FET is so close!!
  • @wishing-and-hoping oh man, well... Here's hoping for a favorable 45-50%  YAY!!! Can't wait for your big day!
  • that's awesome news @wishing-and-hoping! happy for you! have fun wherever you're going!
@mkr_0128 I don't remember the exact numbers but I do believe they say the more you try better are your chance to get pregnant. Also regarding, the grading there is more criteria that comes in place, like lining, timing, etc.. I have heard/read great embryo grade being transferred (even PGS normal) but still ended up to BFN and bad/ok grade ended to BFP, right @embryoman? even myself my fresh transfer was a 4AA which ended up to a BFN, but it was untested.so I want to believe it's because I was high risk OHSS which affected my implantation and my FET will be successful! ;) let's hope for the best and stay positive and whatever grade we will be transferring will lead to our BFP!
    GL to you all!

We are officially on “Period Watch 2018”  :D:D Come on you lil b*tch!!! Def feeling crampy but it’s not here yet :'(:'(:'(:'(:'(
this sucks! I’m reading online it could take up to two FREAKIN weeks to come after your last dose.  Even though the last two time I’ve taken it AF came within 2-3 days. Today is only day 2 but I’m getting antsy already(  patience isn’t my best virtue )  UGH I hope This doesn’t push me into Nov FET :(
  • LOL @ndz2018 ! but that's crazy tho that AF is being playing with you like that! I hope it won't take you 2 weeks that she will be here before the end of weekend. did you google to see what to do to get AF?
  • @mkr_0128 I think success rates depends on so many factors - age, quality of embryos, specific linings, specific clinics etc. My clinic has success rates of 60-70%,and my doctor said that I would be on the higher side of those percentages due to my age and no known fertility issues.

@ndz2018 come onnn, you witch!! I think I am going to be pushed to Nov FET.. but I will keep posting here until that's confirmed. I went in for my FOURTH beta yesterday and my levels came back at 55. It's taking soo long, and who knows when I'll even get my period after that. I am also running low on patience, but nothing we can do about it, so frustrating!
  • @wishing-and-hoping - i'm so happy to hear everything looks good. You are so close!!!
@mkr_0128 - there are so many factors that go into success rates. Some REs have higher rates b/c they require all IVF patients to PGS test which increases odds b/c you know you are transferring a viable embryo. When we get to this stage in the game, I think we all just pray that we are in whatever that percentage of positive results ends up being!

  • @ndz2018 hooray!!! <3<3<3

@wishing-and-hoping  great news! So happy you’re moving forward!

@leilee101 so sorry to hear you’re not down to zero yet  :/ that is so frustrating!
  • @leilee101 SON-OF-A-B*TCH UGH ... I'm sorry its not down to zero yet. When is the next blood draw?
  • @ndz2018 YAY!!! FINALLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYY!!! c'mon late October FET buddy! I'm excited for you!
@leilee101 I'm so sorry your HCG is still not down to 0. that's sucks! so frustrating! I am so sorry. I wish there was something you could do on your end to help bringing it down faster, that wait is just ridiculous. hang in there girl!
  • Thanks for your input ladies! Not that I want to get my hopes overly up, but I'm hoping I have decently good odds with my age and no known fertility issues, though I have yet to be told what grade my embryos are...

@ndz2018 glad it looks like AF is coming!

@leilee101 I'm sorry it's STILL not at zero, I had no idea it takes so long! Hoping the last bit goes down quickly :)
  • @ndz2018 wahoooo!

My next draw is next Thursday. I think I'm going to pop over to acupuncture this weekend to try to get the blood flowing, maybe that will help. The rate at which it's decreasing is slowing down alot so at this rate I'm worried it won't even be 0 by next week. I'm 4 weeks post D&C now, and there's no way to tell when my period will even come. It just seems so different for everyone. and I still need a saline sono after that happens arrgrghdkjhalkjg
  • @hereforthebabies Glad the low dose of lupron worked and your cycle is moving!! That is a good sign :)
@Griffin5413 GL on your next appointment.  Another tip for PIO, after the injection I did heat-massage-heat (heating pad on low) and not 1 bruise or lump, during the almost 5 weeks I did it.
@wishing-and-hoping Congrats on your lining!! OMG your transfer is so close!!! Exciting!!!
@ndz2018 Welcome AF!!! We all have been waiting for you!!
@leilee101 That is a stubborn HCG! Its decreasing and that is good, I hope by next week you reach 0.
  • MEDICINE questions!!  (Sorry to ask this, as I've seen similar questions, but I've been lurking so many boards I don't know where I've seen it...)

With moving and moving clinics, I've started to call around for pricing since the most affordable one has a wait list that I'm most likely going to be too impatient for... I'd rather spend an extra $1k-$2k than wait 8 months for another shot at FET if I need more than one try, or when I do want to try for #2.

I've found 2 places with comparable FET prices (ivf is way too out of our price range for these other places so we are stuck going to the military place when we have to do another round), but of course the med price is not included. One place quoted me $1000 for meds that takes you up to 10 weeks of pregnancy, the other place quoted me $2,000-2,500 for meds.

Has anyone on this board ordered meds from anywhere? (My current clinic I get them right from their pharmacy and it's included in the treatment price so I've never had to worry about it). This may be a dumb question, but does your facility make you order meds from them? Do you get to pick your own place/pharmacy? Not that $1,000-2,000 is unreasonable, but just wondering what some options may be!
  • @mkr_0128 my clinic makes me order from Acariahealth and it gets shipped to my house and they do overnight shipping for no additional charge, unless it needs to be shipped over the weekend. and it's also the specialty pharmacy recommended by my insurance for max coverage. they out of state and I never had any problems with them, I always get my med on time. GL to you!
  • @wishing-and-hoping yay!!  I’m so excited for you!!

@ndz2018 I totally burst out laughing at your Period Watch 2018.   And yay!  Glad it’s making its entrance!

@leilee101 ugh!!  That’s so freaking frustrating!

@mkr_0128 my meds were out of pocket and my clinic gave me some choices to choose from. We went with Freedom for both ER meds and FET. I think for the FET, my meds were about $600 (but I have no idea how long it lasts me until. )

for those of you that had an endometrial biopsy and hysteroscopy, did insurance cover anesthesia?  I knew it wouldn’t cover my ER (and was $700) but I just got the claim from insurance and they didn’t cover anything and it was $1400. (It still has to go through my H’s insurance since I’m double covered) but I was expecting mine to cover it for some reason.  And any idea why it would be double?
  • Thank you @babydust2507  and @purplg8r! I'm making a list of suggestions so I can compare when the time comes!

Hmmm I had a hysteroscopy about a year and a half ago and my insurance covered almost all of it. I did get a bill in the mail for $150 I believe though, but not sure what the fee(s) ended up being for specifically.
  • @purplg8r I would call my insurance and ask for explanation, they could have made a mistake. It happened to me with my ER this didn't cover some of the claims included anesthesia, they are reprocessing everything now. I will go back to them because I don't see any reason why it will doubled unless your clinic raises their prices. Beside I don't understand why they won't the anesthesia but the procedure. GL to you insurance people can give you headaches, I hate when they hit you with unexpected bills
  • @purplg8r My best guess is that they rejected the claim out of hand because the anesthesiologist was out of network. In many states that’s illegal and considered a “surprise bill” because you don’t get to choose your anesthesiologist. I’d call your insurance and inquire, and push back. If they covered the procedure, they should cover the anesthesiologist.

@mkr_0128 My meds were covered by insurance but regardless my clinic never dictated where I could get them. Of course there are several specialty pharmacies in NYC so that makes things easier.
  • @purplg8r did you call your insurance beforehand and ask if it was covered?  I would definitely call and ask now either way.

  • @mkr_0128 Medication is covered by my insurance plan (Aetna) and since they own CVS, I need to go through the CVS specialty pharmacy.  What happened to on my first FET was that my clinic pushed me to order from the local pharmacy (SMP), bc they said it was faster, I pushed back and insisted on using my pharmacy....glad I did, bc otherwise I could have not been able to submit a claim for reimbursement.  The cost at CVS for all the medication to prep and estrace+PIO up until week 8 is ~$1,500.

@purplg8r Mmmm doesn't sound right, there must be a mistake, it doesn't make sense that is not covering a part (important!!) of the procedure.  I guess your Dr office called to process the pre authorization (?), they should be able to give you some answers too.
  • Thank you so much @Bababatty and @mama2b1974!!  I know my insurance definitely doesn't cover anything other than the pre-diagnostic testing unfortunately.
  • Wow how awesome yours is covered @ndz2018!! Do you mind me asking what insurance you have? I am on my husbands military insurance, but I want to see what my work offers in case there is some coverage with IF. I hope your upcoming appointments clear you for your FET!! - I will be at the very end of October/very beginning of November so you won't be alone in your wait  :)
  • @purplg8r my anesthesiologist didn't even process insurance so we paid OOP and then i had to submit the receipt after the fact.  My guess is like other people have said is it's an initial out of network decline but you have to go explain you didn't have a choice.

    Ladies--October is almost here!!!

AFM: I'm still waiting on PGS results and my calendar.  I had my annual yesterday, the Dr. got me more excited than I want to be.  I mean of course i'm already looking at my EDD if i get to have an October FET and it works, but i don't talk to anyone about those hopes really.  I just try to "go with the flow" and continue to eat healthy and keep moving, i know it's the most impactful thing i can do to increase my odds of success.

@mkr_0128 I'll be researching PIO and other medications for best costs as well since i know I don't have any insurance benefit left for rx.  Thanks for asking the question because i appreciate the information as well.
  • I know how you feel @blackhottamales about wanting to calculate everything out but also not get overly excited. For some reason I feel on the less hopeful side, I'm not sure why, I guess just cause the odds are about 50/50. I'll still be upset regardless if we come out with a BFN, ugh the stress.

Here's a list I made of pharmacies I've seen people say they've used, but I haven't gone as far as to compare prices!

    Freedom pharmacy

    Acariahealth

    IVFmeds.com (overseas)

    Apothecary shop

    Walgreens specialty pharmacy

    ivf.towndrugstore.com

    IVFpharmacy.com

    avella specialty pharmacy

    mdr pharmacy

    Fastivf (overseas)

    Save IVF

    Glenn rock

  • @mkr_0128 so my insurance covered my med and the procedure till I reach my OOP max which is $4600 then they will cover everything 100%. For my IVF cycle med, I only paid less than $400 out of $5,000 with some change. GL shopping and hope you'll find the best deal!
@ndz2018 GL for your saline sono and hope you'll get your FET in October as you are waited enough! lol
  • omg thats awesome @babydust2507!! I called 2 places near where we are moving and they quoted me $4,000-$7,000 for meds for IVF. Hoping I can find something even half the price of that!!
  • FX for you @mkr_0128 for the best deal! did you call IVFmeds? I heard they have good prices too. I haven't called Acariahealth yet for my PIO for FET but last time the PIO was just my copay $10 but I just got my estrace at walgreens and it was $20 copay. call them to check their prices too, i think they are in Virginia, at least that's what the label says when I get my package. I wish you the best of luck!
  • @mkr_0128 not sure if this could help, but maybe asking for the specific medication brand...I know since my insurance covers it and they own the pharmacy I might be getting the cheapest (though effective) version.  For lupron and estrogen patches, Sandoz brand and for PIO is Actavis.  Doxycycline and Valium both are generic.
  •  Question ladies… How long does it take to get the results from your Saline sono?!?? Is it immediately… My doctor is doing it so I feel like I get the results immediately but I can’t remember
