@laeberge3 - I was a student at IU, too! Got my master's degree and work for IU now as well so there are a lot of us in the IU community but, oddly, I don't get along with a lot of the moms here... they're too stuck up. They're very stodgy and serious, and use words like "pedagogy" in casual conversations. I make a joke about something and they don't laugh. My sense of humor is off-color, I get it, but come on. The women here need to lighten up. They also judge me for feeding my kid Cheeto's while they pull out their organic homemade bento boxes. Oh, and I met this one woman who told me that her son is so frustrated because he has such a vast vocabulary but can't express himself because he's too small to form the words himself. He was 1.
@sleepy33 - I wish I was joking but I'm not. The moms here are *unbelievable*. We're all over-educated so the ones with a superiority complex LOVE to tell you how advanced their kids are. I'm quietly gagging at the park (when families actually show up) listening to them talk about their kids' perfection and accomplishments. It's obnoxious.
And it's not just the moms, the dads are equally as awful. I was letting my son dangle on a bar and he was asking me to help him but I said no, let go and see what happens (he'd drop 2 inches and land on his feet). I want him to develop something called confidence but this dickwad swoops in and picks him up and sets him gently on the ground. Then he looked at me, shook his head, and walked off.
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the board, I am just so over it. I can't wait to move and be around regular parents. I know I'll run into that periodically anywhere but it's literally like, 80% of the parents here.
@RoseShadow873 I don't blame you. I shared early because a) I can't keep it in!! and b) I'll want support regardless of what happens. I'm excited for another A16 on this board!!
@purplejoymommy MH commutes to Smyrna every day. Are you out that way? I hope you find something you love a little father OTP. I hate he has to commute so far (and with pattented ATL traffic), but staying on the south side is what we can afford, and my job is down here.
@breanna428@jarethinafrock I haven’t even introduced myself yet but I saw your comments and decided to log in to tell y’all I’m from the Greenville area.

Ahh!! So exciting!! Which part? Welcome and looking forward to getting to know you!
@jarethinafrock - we live in Taylors. I’m super early and I’ll probably wait a week or 2 before I spend much time on here (*TW-I had an ectopic in June). But I was so freaking happy to see that there are people that live close to me that I couldn’t help but to comment.

I’m technically in Greer, but I live on the Taylors side. I am really too to have bumpies in town! do you have any other kids? I have a 4 year old daughter and a son who will be 2 in November.
@jarethinafrock - I have a daughter who will be 2 in February. As long as things work out this time, this LO will definitely be our last, because I will be delivering when I’m 38!

I know, everything is getting soooooo expensive that it makes looking really difficult! We aren't up 75, we are off of 400 in Sandy Springs, but my DH works further north on 400 so he wouldn't mind moving further from the city. Not quite sure how I would feel being that far out again, but we will see what the near future holds. Traffic is awful everywhere, I work 15 mins from home, and a day like today where it's raining will be at least 45min drive!
@aels12 I have a bestie who lives in Gainesville, but that is too far for me!!

Aw, we should get your daughter and my son to play together! and I just turned 35 on Sunday and today at my appt i felt like they should have wheeled me in on a wheelchair... 😂
@beccaneu Nice! I’m about 2 hours from you, I have lived here my entire life and still hate the winter. I would love to live somewhere like Florida, but the whole family is here so I guess I’m stuck lol.
@brie_and_almonds I’m about 40 minutes from Lansing! I actually worked there and commuted up until changing jobs about 6 months ago. Not looking forward to the cooler weather that’s upon us! Haha
@ekauther Where did you move from to get to Nashville? We visited in April and stayed in Franklin. We're thinking of moving there when we have had our kids. Can't give up the maternity leave in California.
@kbeers13 We moved from central IL for my husbands job. We live just northeast of Nashville. We house hunted in Franklin as I love the area but the houses are so dang expensive.
Re: Where is everyone from? Any Bump neighbors?
@ellejdubs I grew up in CT! Still have a ton of family in the area:)
@beccaneu Go Blue! I was born in MI and most of my extended family is there.
@fuscok88 Cheers! I went to law school at UW.
