I actually have one today and y'all are going to think I'm grody, but whatevs.
DD pooped right before we were leaving for daycare the other morning and I was already in a huge hurry. As I was carrying her diaper to the toilet to flush the poop (we use cloth), the very solid turd rolled out of the diaper and bounced off my bump and fell to the floor. I was wearing a white shirt and it didn't leave a mark, so I just sniffed my shirt (no stink!), shrugged my shoulders and didn't change my shirt. I did clorox wipe the floor where the poop fell, so there's that.

I have a little FFFC, and a follow up from last week's. This week - DH was on the phone with ILs (FIL & SMIL) and we realized that we've apparently scared them away by refusing LO to them without their shots. DH wants me to text them and let them know how I am, just to keep some communication open...but I haven't. No immunizations = no baby, no exceptions. Ugh. They're also kind of racist and I don't mind keeping them at arm's length. Newsflash - I'm not entirely white! Gasp!
Follow up - so last week I shared a local "photographer's" digital flier that featured photos she found on Pinterest. Well, last week I found 3/4 of the original photographers and emailed them about their images being used without their permission. One of the photographers got back to me that same day, and since then the offending GWC changed her flier (and deleted all of my queries of course!). The photo she's using now has a real...Windows default-clipart-photo feel to it, so of course, I'll do some sleuthing later I hope the local amateur GWCs are sending each other facebook messages to "keep an eye out for that Echo lady, she's a real B."

@katy0990 I'm sure they have some from growing up, but when I first told them that I wanted all visitors to get flu & TDAP at minimum SMIL LAUGHED and said that I'll "get over it" So after that outburst I'm not giving them an inch.

@morgantu Exactly. That's why I haven't bothered to talk to them since. DH of course is the best guy ever and is trying to keep 1) healthy communication, and 2) SMIL and I away from each other's throats. She hasn't liked me from day one though, so she's skewed because I'm not white, I have tattoos, and I don't love Trump...so yeah. We're just oil and water ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@echo-charlietango l don't feel like your confessions are flame worthy at all. I'd call those "minimal expectations people should probably follow if they want to keep immunocompromised individuals safe and healthy". If they refuse, that's on them! Annoying for sure. I'm trying to spread the word that anyone who wants to see the baby needs to be up to date on flu and tdap, but SO doesn't get it and isn't backing me up. Is it so hard to ask your parents, brother, and friend (plus his family) who live down the street and I KNOW will want to visit immediately and all the time to PLEASE not put our daughter at risk??? I don't think so. People need to get their heads out of their asses. Also, bonus no-way points for the racism. I don't get it. Sorry you're dealing with that bs.
My FFFC is that we are not inviting either of our families to our courthouse wedding ceremony, and I'm not feeling bad about it. I kind of love that we are keeping it just us. They may not feel the same way...
@scaredunprepared when husband and I got hitched, we invited his mom and my mom, and no one else. As far as I'm concerned, the wedding is about the people getting married, not everyone else; we extended the invites we did too keep the peace because they would never have understood, but don't regret for a minute keeping the guest list as small as we did. I worried a bit about other people's feelings, but was pleasantly surprised to find that absolutely everyone, even the usual drama llamas, were entirely supportive. Fingers crossed your experience turns out the same! And if I haven't said it yet, congratulations on your impending nuptials!
@AGK2015 thank you! Happy to read your encouraging success story. I kind of always wanted a small wedding or elopement, so this works out perfectly, even if rather unplanned and unexpected. I think everyone will get over it eventually. My family (mom in particular) will probably take longer to get over it than his, but hey, everyone should just shut up and be happy we are finally making it official! Lol they can finally stop asking if/ when it's ever going to happen!
@scaredunprepared DH and I eloped in Mexico, and it was the best! No families to bicker, no cousins getting too drunk, and especially no bills or catering headaches - yay! I'm not even sure if our families were offended, nobody tried to give either of us a serious guilt trip. I hope your families are just as surprisingly mellow! And yes, big congrats to you two. I can't wait to see the rings

I bribef my two year old to pee this morning by telling her she could wear makeup (unscented unflavored untinted lip balm, but still, that's more than I wear most days). She was holding it back tryibg to drag out our morning routine and I was desperate.
Also, I was feeling pretty proud of how clean my kitchen looks today while I was finishing up the dishes (husband and I are not great at maintaining, and it's only gotten worse while I've been pregnant). Then I remembered that the reason it looks so clean is because I shoved all the dirty pots from the stove into the oven when my husband's buddy came over. Which was on Tuesday. And since I don't have room for them to dry right now, they're still in there. Oops.
@echo-charlietango I'm hopeful our families react similarly and drama-free. Eloping or courthouse is the way to go! Save up that money for something that matters instead... like oh, I dunno, this baby? Lol We will eventually have a party of sorts (maybe in a year or 2), but not a full blown wedding reception that costs a small fortune. Just not my style. Though, I do love a good wedding, and may regret not doing things more traditionally when i look back and don't have the pictures or anything. Who knows.
@AGK2015 bribing daughter with lip balm isn't really bribery. That's good parenting! Lol your version of "cleaning up" sounds an awful lot like mine. Ha!
@scaredunprepared when I was pregnant with DS1 I had no maternity insurance. I was still on my dad's health insurance and since I was a dependent they wouldn't cover any maternity costs. So when DH got a new job, we decided we needed to get married so I'd have health insurance. We were planning marriage within a year or two anyways, so just moved things up a bit. We got married on the patio of a nice restaurant and had the chef/owner (friend of my moms) "officiate" for us. It was just us, him, and his wife and the hostess as witnesses. We were going to invite our parents and siblings (one each). But we did it on a Thursday and there's no way we could have gotten everyone there, so instead we said no one could go so no one would feel left out. Yes our moms were upset they couldn't be there, but no ones ever held it over our heads or anything. We're planning a vow renewal in 2025 for our 10 year anniversary, so we'll do a small get together then with family and friends to celebrate. I'll admit, part of me feels like I missed out since I didn't get to do all the planning, prepping, dress shopping, pictures, etc I'd always imagined, but at the same time it was so intimate and special to us. Weddings these days aren't even about the bride and groom, it's about how happy and entertained the guests are. My mom and sister still went with me to pick out a new dress to wear so DH and I matched, but that's it. I really hope your families just suck it up and keep their mouths shut! You need to do what's best for you guys, not them. This is your day, they already had theirs.
@echo-charlietango Man, your SMIL sounds like a peach. I guess she can “get over it,” when she’s not allowed to see the baby. Like someone else said, my heels would have dug in after that one and I wouldn’t budge.
@CecilB93 your wedding sounds like it was lovely, and so special. And practical! A vow renewal will be a perfect way to have the celebration without all the fuss. I'm thinking ours will be just the same. Intimate, no frills, FREE, and just the way we want it. Like @katy0990 says, they'll get over it in time to see baby.
Fftc: h is making dinner tonight (pot pie, yum!) Which means that usually I would be on dish duty. But I can hear him in there doing dishes and I am just gonna keep my butt here on the couch and let him go.
