@hnbergeron I loveeee my instant pot. I made Zuppa toscana in it last night! HB eggs (when eggs are not gross to me), Bolognese sauce, pork chops, Cuban steak...skinny taste has some great recipes (like the Cuban pressed steak). And you can usually convert a slow cooker meal to IP..
I had no idea you could do hard boiled eggs! I'm not an egg fan really even when not preggo but hubby is! Zuppa Tiscana sounds amazing!
@hnbergeron- I also love my IP and do a dozen eggs every week which we use as part of on-the-go breakfasts. Routinely, i make Indian butter chicken in there, Turkey taco meat, all kinds of things. I even made a whole "rotisserie" chicken which was delish. Fish steams super nicely in there too... magic
My MIL was just diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer from a mammogram and then a biopsy that she had yesterday. I know that it's highly treatable, as does H (he's an oncologist, after all). My MIL is optimistic about it, too, and is usually level-headed about these types of things. But my brother-in-law is going to be overly dramatic about it, and he lives right down the road from MIL, so he'll be sharing his anxiety about it with her all the time. We live two states away. These are the times when I wish we lived closer, so that we could provide reassuring support through all of this craziness, and assure her that the odds are very good and she has every reason to be optimistic. PSA: Cancers are not all the same, and some (many, even) are highly treatable, especially when caught early. It's a terrifying word that's packed with way too much power.
@hannahbananas11 I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL's diagnosis. Even treatable, these things are always scary and unpleasant. I'm sure you and your H will be a huge source of comfort and reassurance, despite the distance. Sometimes living far away is a real blessing, other times it's the worst.
@hannahbananas11 sorry to hear about your MIL, best wishes to her for a quick and successful treatment plan! That definitely is tough not being close to her in this circumstance.
I’m sorry about your MIL @hannahbananas11! So glad they caught it early though. H’s aunt survived a really aggressive gallbladder cancer because of how early they caught it! Cancer is definitely a scary word, sometimes scarier than it needs to be. Good thing you and your family are able to stay level headed about it. Hopefully your BIL will understand eventually too, and if not, he should use it as a reason to take extra good care of his mom.

Thanks for your support and kind words, ladies. The first 24 hours were rough. Telling the kids went as expected (oldest took it hard, youngest doesn’t get it and keeps asking when Mischa will be home). Pregnancy hormones are not helping me what so ever. I went on a cleaning rampage today while the kids were at my parents - vacuumed every room, scrubbed all the hardwoods, and rearranged the living room furniture (because all I could visualize was our dead dog laying in her spot - gah!). If nothing else, the house is freaking clean and the living room has a “new look”. Find the positives, right??
@hannahbananas11 I'm sorry to hear about your MIL's diagnosis, but hopefully things will go smoothly for her in terms of treatment. Anxiety from other people certainly is not helpful! Sending your fam good vibes.
@okayestmom12 Wow, that sounds like a very productive day! I'm glad that you're able to physically work through some of the pain of this loss. Hugs to you as you continue to deal with this.
Thanks, everyone, for the positive vibes for my MIL. She very much takes on the anxiety of other people, so I'm hoping that my BIL is able to hold it together for her. She's meeting with a surgeon next week, and should know treatment plans then. She's planning a baby shower for me in November, but I'm now thinking that I should ask her (or let her know it's okay) to cancel it, especially if her surgery gets scheduled for November or late October. @grebretso and a few others were talking about doing a Sip n' See, and I like that idea! So I might bring that up to her and see what she thinks. Or, if she's adamant about a shower, moving it back to the second week of January. That's still a month out from my due date, and is after all of the holiday craziness. I just don't want her overdoing it, especially since she gets super busy doing Christmas-y things. We'll see what happens.
Wow I’ve missed a lot. @okayestmom12 sorry to hear about your dog, that’s the hardest part about having a pet @hannahbananas11 sorry to hear about your MIL, hope that she responds well to treatment
@hannahbananas11 I'm sorry to hear about your MIL. Even with a good prognosis, cancer can be such a mind fuck. FX things go as smoothly as possible for her
Soooo I work in HR (been at this job for four months and never worked in HR before) and I sent a demographic report to someone on my team but I left salaries on it. My bosses were SUPER nice about it (they are generally mega supportive and tell me a lot how they love having me on the team) but clearly I messed up. I was so upset about it and almost cried...totally ridiculous PG hormones I know because they were super okay with it and thank GOD it was someone on our team and not like the whole company or something lol. But I’m just a bit hormonal today.
Im also pissed because bobs furniture was supposed to deliver DS’s new bed tomorrow morning but they wanted us to be first aka 630am and I live in an apt building!! Of course they couldn’t reschedule for tomorrow so I had to push it to next weekend and It’s not a total big deal but I am upset about this minor inconvenience lol
Work is nuts lately. Two of the steadiest people gave their notices at work this week. We’re only 12 people in the office total, so things will be chaotic for a while. At least this means I will most likely get my own office now!
The turnaround in this place is insane, I’ve only been here two years and there are only four other people who have been here longer than I have. I’ve already seen four of the old timers quit or retire, and I’ve seen seven people both start AND quit. I like stability, so this is pretty annoying! At least with my own office, I can shut the door when I need to.

Sounds like we work in the same place @grebretso. I've been here for one year and in that timeframe, our team has gone from 10 to 5 people. Our workload has gotten easier in some ways as we modernize processes but not at the same rate as people leaving. I'm starting to wonder wth is wrong with this place!
Yay for your own office though! I'm eyeing the latest departures' white board, wondering how soon I can go steal it without looking like a vulture.
And I officially got diagnosed with GD. My first test was a bit high and then the second one I failed my fasting by a tiny bit and passed the other 2 tests after 1 hour and 2 hours. I'm starting out with diet control for now but may need night time insulin if I can't get fasting numbers down.
I had GD with my DD and took insulin before meals and bedtime so I'm hoping to need none or just at bedtime this time around.
@Venessa88 I’m sorry to hear about your GD, it’s always stressful to have to think about one extra thing. Fingers crossed you will find it ok to manage.

@becks_726 it tastes kind of acidic and stale to me too. Almost a little sour - like something that’s gone bad
