TTC After a Loss

September Randoms

I don’t think we have a thread for September yet so I thought I’d get one started :)

Re: September Randoms

  • We found out yesterday that my dad’s chemo will start next Tuesday. Since it is such an aggressive treatment plan he will need a bone marrow transplant. They will test him in two months to see if they can use his own, if they cannot then I am next in line to get tested as a possible donor. Therefore, I think we will need to put IVF on hold for right now. However, we are still going to go see our RE later this month and talk through all of this with her, just to see if we could possibly freeze our embryos first. All that was to say, I’m not technically TTC right now but definitely want to stick around and support you all while I wait.
  • I’m so sorry about your dad @char245 and that this throws a wrench in your plans.  It’s very selfless of you to put your dreams on hold like that <3

  • @char245 you deserve to still be here. It's really an amazing thing you are doing for your dad. Though I think we'd all go the same in your shoes. FX that his chemo goes smoothly tomorrow. I hope your able to freeze before so that when the time comes you are 1 step closer still.

CP ladies, was your AF fairly normal and did you ovulate on track still after? I thought the bleeding was done yesterday but turns out I was wrong.... I'm having my second round of labs on lunch to see where HCG is at. FW  is supposed to start around the 18th and I'm hoping it doesnt happen before my appt with OB (not that im waiting to try. Full steam ahead....)
  • @prpl11butterfly with both of my CPs the bleeding was pretty much just like AF for me, maybe a tiny bit heavier than usual the first day.  If I remember correctly O day was about a day later than usual both times.

  • @coco2787 thanks. I figured it would be pretty close to a standard cycle, with the whole "most women dont even realize" aspect. But I got worried when I started having a breakout because that's usually just before O.
  • @prpl11butterfly Same for me. 1st cycle was heavier than normal, but everything else was pretty similar to a normal cycle.
  • @char2787 I’m so sorry your dad is so sick and that’s it’s another part of the equation for you. I hope you come up with a plan with the RE that makes you feel like you’re moving forward.

@prpl11butterfly I’ve also had heavier than usual cycles (and more cramping for sure) with CPs.  But I ovulated normally that month.
  • Thanks for all your support ladies!

@prpl11butterfly had I not been testing I probably wouldn’t have known it was a cp. AF seemed normal and ovulated the same amount of days after my period, but obviously my period was later then it normally should have been. Hopefully that made sense.
  • @char245 wow. I’m sorry to hear about your dad. Many hugs and lots of support coming your way.
  • Char245 I'm so sorry about your dad. Cancer is awful :(

  • @char245 I am so sorry to hear about your dad. You are awesome to put your TTC on hold to help your father. Cancer and chemo are some tough things to deal with. Lots of support vibes headed your way.

  • @char245 I'm so sorry about your dad. I think you're doing a wonderful thing for him and you'll both be in my thoughts.
  • Met with our RE today to discuss our plan for moving forward. Had blood drawn to make sure my HCG level has gone back down. If my level is zero then we will start IVF when my next period starts. We should be able to get one cycle started and embryos frozen before I may need to donate bone marrow. If my levels are not back to zero then I think we will have to wait a few months to start. Here’s hoping I’m back to zero and I can movement over to WTO soon!
  • @char245 fx that you can start before!
  • @fx for zero and you can start process
  • @char245 FX that you’re at 0 and you can get started on IVF soon!
  • @char245 I really hope you can get a cycle in!  Can they not test you now to see if you're a match for a bone marrow transplant?  Sorry, maybe I missed something and you already know you're a match and are waiting to see if it's needed....  Fx for you either way and best wishes for your Dad :)
  • @char245 FX for you. That’s a lot of things on your plate at once
  • @char245 I hope you can start the process!!
  • @bakerstreetboys we are waiting to hear back if testing early is an option. All of this waiting has been so hard! But maybe I’m supposed to be learning patience through all of this, that’s definitely a trait I do not have lol.
  • Well, I was hoping that with AF showing up that my RE would say that means I don't need surgery, but nope, she is still recommending it.  (Surgery would be to remove scar tissue around my cervix)  Hoping I can get it scheduled for next week or the week after so that I'm only benched for this cycle.

  • Fx they can get it done for you @coco2787
  • Tired today from concert last night.
  • @coco2787 sorry you have to do that, it always sucks to have to wait for a procedure knowing you’ll be benched. FX that they can get you in quickly!
  • @char245 sorry to hear about your dad, it's crazy how cancer can really affect so many family members as well.
I've noticed we haven't had weekly check in posts lately. I guess they are just started randomly and everyone's been busy over the summer

  • @40momma we should get weekly thread back
  • @Kath525 great news! I think you really should avoid heavy lifting while TTC also  ;)
  • This is so random...
my friend keeps talking about something called V steaming ? Has anyone heard this? She is saying people do it sometimes post partum or post trauma to help “cleanse” out everything haha sounds a little hippydippy to me but if anyone’s done that it would be interesting to hear ?
  • @cikcikpolicnik Never heard of it, but it seems to me that vaginas are pretty much self cleaning. And I would be skeptical about using anything on healing tissue. Well, anything other than numbing cream, witch hazel, mild soap, and warm water - exterior use only, obviously. IDK, maybe I'm out of the loop on this?
  • So I'm wondering if anyone has dealt with high levels of prolactin during their luteal phase? I'm thinking I should ask my doctor to test, because it sounds like it may be a factor/cause of RPL. Just wondering if anyone has any experience.
  • Agree with the self-healing vaginas. You could try a Raspberry Leaf Tea, which is supposed to help strengthen and thicken your uterine lining.

  • thank you! I don't think I'll do it to be honest, a bit to random for me.
  • @cikcikpolicnik I have heard of vagina steaming!  There’s a place near me that does it & I stumbled upon it randomly.  But yes, that whole self cleaning vagina thing out ruled it for me. I also read it can throw off the natural balance too much, like douching.
  • Went to see the antibody specialist yesterday as I have tested positive for anticardiolipin, a possible cause of my 3 miscarriages. I'm now on baby aspirin and the moment I get a BFP I have to start giving myself a needle in the tummy every day. I had training for it yesterday. Oh dear god give me strength to be able to do that. Has anyone had to do something similar? Any words of wisdom?
  • @40momma I'm glad you found a possible cause and I hope you get a bfp and have a successful pregnancy soon! Not sure if this helps, but my dad had to do daily injections in his stomach for a year. He said he got used to it really quickly and that it wasn't bad at all. I hope you find the same to be true. He also said it was much easier to do it himself rather than have my mom do it. He didn't have the anxiety/anticipation that comes when you're waiting for someone else to do it when he did it himself.
  • @40momma so I gave myself injections for about 9 months.  It wasn’t daily as it was fertility drug so it was about a week out of month.  I agree much easier for me to do than my DH to give me.  My DH is type 1 diabetic and gives himself shots multiple times a day so I asked him to give me the first one.  It wasn’t bad but I anticipated it and jumped.  The next day he wasn’t home so I had to do it and it was much better.  Didn’t even feel the poke.  After that I didn’t think much about it.  I hope you get that BFP and have to give yourself those shots!!
  • @40momma I'm on my second round of IVF, so I have given myself lots of shots in the stomach.  It's really not so bad...you'll learn quickly where the best places are, and pinching the skin a bit really helps.  Hopefully you have cause to need the shots soon!
  • @40momma I’m so glad you are getting some answers, hopefully that bfp will happen soon! I’ve done the shots in the stomach for fertility stuff in the past and am getting ready to start again. You definitely get used to it and I think it’s more a mental thing then anything cause it doesn’t really hurt.
  • Thanks everyone. I did a test needle yesterday and my heart was racing so fast. It hurt a little bit but it was more the idea that had me so worked up. I left the dr and cried. Today I was stressing about it again but then thought to myself, it may be scary and it may be a bit painful, but it's nothing compared to the pain of another miscarriage. So I will keep my goal of a healthy baby in mind, if I get the chance to go for it. Deep breaths.
