People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.
Re: Infertility Treatment & Testing w/o 9/17
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):
WF hysteroscopy
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?):
Hysteroscopy on 9/24
How are things going?:
Thigs are good I’m glad my surgery is next week. Had an appointment with the surgeon on Friday and everything went well. He said it could be polyps but by the way it looks he thinks it’s placental tissue and he’ll either just remove the pieces or he’ll do a repeat d&c if needed. We should be good to go after that. They will prob put me on antibiotics after to treat the endometritis and I will probably ask for a repeat biopsy to make sure it’s clear first. I think part of all this waiting is teaching me patience and I’d rather take my time then rush back into things
Any questions?:
nope
GTKY: How do you feel best supported in these weekly threads?
Diagnosis (if you've been): Autoimmune/endometriosis/adenomyosis/partialseptum removed/MFI
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): RE moved up my follow up appt to this Wednesday. We will discuss what’s next at that appt. MH wants to do whatever RE suggest, which I have a feeling will be another IUI cycle. I’m thankful our RE doesn’t over use IVF, but he also knows after 4 IUIs, I am as ready as I can be to move forward.
How are things going?: Weekend was rough. I attended a function I probably should have declined.
Any questions?: Not right now.
GTKY: How do you feel best supported in these weekly threads?
@jrm_14 Keep us updated on how your appointment goes Wednesday! Sorry your weekend was rough. Certain events can be really difficult.
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IUI #1
How are things going?: So far so good.
Any questions?: I did a manual override for ovulation as recommended. Concerned the IUI was too late Guess there's always next cycle!
GTKY: How do you feel best supported in these weekly threads? I love the forum just in general. Definitely makes me realize I'm not alone on this rollercoaster

@jrm_14 *Hugs* Sorry you had a rough weekend. We will be thinking of you on Wednesday, let us know how it goes. Hopefully your RE will be more on the same page as your thinking.
@crookshanks10 FX for you. Remember you are not out until you are out. Rooting for you!

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Waiting until next cycle
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Starting IVF in Oct
How are things going?: MH is away right now so I had a bit of a meltdown over the weekend which was not good. But I took a lot of alone time to try and think things through which was needed. I also had a lovely dinner with the navy wives which was great. I am so glad that I have them to talk to about things. It was a great vent session and I am sure all of our H's ears were burning furiously. Ha!
Any questions?:
GTKY: How do you feel best supported in these weekly threads? Agreed that the whole board in general is supportive. But having a place to come and share your concerns, ask your questions and know that all the ladies here are rooting for you and only want the best outcome possible, is very special.
@nitnat007 Thank you friend! I'm excited for you to start IVF! I'm thinking my DH and I need to start saving in case we have to go the IVF route. Unfortunately nothing is covered under our insurance
@nitnat007 Did you eat anything delicious?! You’re entitled to as many meltdowns as your need ❤️
GTKY: I love more modern, clean, simplistic (read: less crap to dust). However, there’s rustic items from time to time I love, yet just wouldn’t fit in our home well.
@beachbunnyxo123 I’m so glad that your appointment is next week. Patience is definitely something all of you are going to have to teach me. What is the next step after your surgery?
@jrm_14 Girl, you’ve been through so much. You are so strong. I’m glad your appointment got moved up. If your RE does suggest another IUI what would you do? Fight for the IVF or go along with the IUI?
@crookshanks10 I’m sorry you’re not feeling very optimistic. Why do you think the IUI was too late?
@nitnat007 Wow. I feel like you guys are moving so fast. I hadn’t realized that you were going straight to IVF. If you don’t mind me asking, what were some of the tests that the RE did on YH? Which one was it that showed the condition that was found? Is this a rare condition? (sorry I can’t for the life of me remember what it is called)
Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Clomid + TI + Progesterone
How are things going?: I introduced myself a couple weeks ago but then I never got the motivation to participate. I apologies to all. I’m happy with our timing this month. But I’m sick of being happy with our timing only to be disappointed every cycle. I think I’m finally at a point where I can accept our IF and finally do something about it. RE appointment is scheduled for Oct 12th, which will be here in no time. I’m a little concerned about MFI. He was never really “careful” with his previous relationships/flings. I’m hoping the RE will order more testing on his part.
Any questions?:
GTKY: What’s your decorating style? (Traditional, modern, etc.) I suck at decorating lol. One of MH’s coworkers said our house was like a bachelor pad… I was a little offended. My mom went out and bought us a huge wall clock that she said would help.

@jrm_14 I'm sorry you had a rough weekend. I've learned that it's ok to decline events you think may be tough and it's even more ok to not feel any guilt about it! I hope you're able to take some time for yourself this week to recover.
@crookshanks10 I hope that you're wrong about the IUI being too late. Remember that O pain can happen on the day before, during or after O. And even if you did O the night before the IUI, the egg will generally survive for 12-24 hours after O so you still could have caught it!
@nitnat007 I'm sorry you experienced a meltdown this weekend. Someone one reminded me once that it's ok to not be ok. But I'm glad you have the Navy wives to talk to. Do they know about your IF?
@LJMoon6 Preach girl! This shit is hard. Plain and simple. And coming to terms with the fact that, yes you are dealing with IF, definitely hits most people pretty hard. I hope the RE appointment gives you some good information and you leave the appointment feeling good about the plan the RE gives you
Diagnosis (if you've been): DOR/AMA, high prolactin
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): O/TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): On our own this cycle
How are things going?: Honestly, not great. I took much needed break for a couple weeks and did minimal lurking. During that time, I reached out to a therapist who finally returned my call last week (about 2 weeks later) but I already set up an appointment with another therapist in my area. If nothing else works out, I'll reconsider the first one I contacted but the fact that she took so long to get back to me (and got my name wrong to boot) left a bad taste in my mouth. Then I had a 10 day cycle. Like WTF body. Then, my RE had an issue getting me a refill on my bromocriptine (to help decrease the prolactin); it took them nearly 2 weeks from the first request to get it taken care of. Apparently they sent it to the pharmacy but for some reason it wasn't going through. The good news is that they gave me 6 months worth of refills so I should only need to contact them once more to get one more refill for the last 3 months. That fiasco made me feel a little better that (1) I'm not doing IVF and (2) My RE and her staff aren't the ones that actually perform the IUIs.
And on top of all of this, I had planned on doing an IUI next cycle, but we may be forced to do a natural cycle if DH gets the job he applied for; if he does, he would only be at the job for a week or two before he would need to take a small amount of time off for the IUI. And finally, I thought I wasn't going to O again this cycle but I decided to do start OPKs again after I noticed a bit of EWCM and I'm on day 3 of +OPKs so FF just moved my O date from yesterday to today.
So suffice it to say that the last couple weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind for me.
Any questions?: Those who have used clomid in the past, did you have weird/wonky cycles afterwards? I usually get my first +OPK around CD9 and didn't get it until CD12 this cycle. Not to mention, the headaches seem to be back.

@jrm_14 We went and had sushi. Haven't had it in ages so that was great. I am shocked that all my birthday cake that is sitting in the freezer, made it through the weekend though. I deserve a medal! And thanks, I fear there will be a few more meltdowns along the way. It is just part of the deal right?!
@LJMoon6 We did all of our basic blood work, I had an HSG as well as a sono, ultrasound followed by MRI and a CT. MH started with a basic SA which showed he had 3% morphology, but all other numbers looked decent. We waited about 8 months to get in with the RE (Canadian system) and in order to start things moving with them, they require a far more in-depth SA to be run. When this was done, his morphology had dropped to 2% and he has an Acrosome defect in 73% of his semen. This is related to the shape of the head and the ability to get through the shell of the egg in order to implant. His would not be able to achieve this on their own given what we are dealing with, so moving to IUI would not be helpful for us. We have been recommended to go straight to IVF with ICSI. Feel free to ask any questions though, happy to help.
@lulu1180 Yes, the navy wives know about our IF struggles. I am glad that they do because if someone happens while MH is away, they will be the support I would go to. Girl, that is quite the whirlwind for sure! I am so glad that you set up an appointment with a therapist. I really hope that it helps. I don't think that I would be bothered with that other one either. Two weeks?! Umm no thanks.
FX that things line up and you are able to do an IUI cycle. Glad to see you back here! *hugs*

@jrm_14 Sorry you had a rough weekend. Fx for your next appointment!
@beachbunnyxo123 I'm glad you were able to get this scheduled and feel good about it.
@crookshanks10 Hey friend, I know how hard it is to have those doubts. Hang in there and hugs
@LJMoon6 It's such a difficult thing to accept and I'm glad you took the time out to be kind to yourself. I hope the time passes quickly so you can get things moving forward.
Diagnosis (if you've been): ovary adhesions
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Waiting for ER
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Currently on Menopur and Follistim. My next appointment is 9/21 to check follicles.
How are things going?: As good as they can be I guess. I started feeling really fatigued yesterday. At first I couldn't tell if it is from MS or the stims. My husband had the idea to take a nap (which I never do) with my head phones in and soft piano music. It really helped, but then I woke up extremely moody. I was so moody and then I cried. So I'm fairly certain these are stim side effects for me or I was just blowing off steam from the overwhelm of meds, the financials, and then having to travel to film over the weekend. I had to suck back a lot of feels to focus on work right after that appointment. Right now, I'm just working on eating right, taking my vitamins, and doing everything that I can to make my body hospitable.
Any questions?: Any advice on what else to do to prepare aside from the above?

@beachbunnyxo123 I'm glad the surgical consult went well. Still so sorry you have to go through yet another procedure and more waiting. You are definitely having a lot of patience practice and I think you are doing an amazing job with it.
@jrm_14 Good luck at your follow-up. I'm sorry you had a rough weekend. There's so much social pressure to participate it can be hard to say no.
@crookshanks10 I feel like often I see people on here worried their IUI was too late - on the bright side when you do IUI the sperm have a big leg-up so hopefully the timing ended up perfect. Fx!
@nitnat007 I'm glad you had a good dinner with friends. That can be so therapeutic.
@ljmoon6 It's hard for a lot of people to take that step of getting the RE appt. Good for you taking the time you needed to get there. I hope it's a productive meeting.
@lulu1180 I missed you but I also sensed you needed a break. I hope that the therapist you've chosen is a good match for you. That sucks the other one took so long to get back with you, I agree that doesn't bode well. I'm sorry your body is messing with you. I'm not one to be a supplement pusher, and I've heard this isn't one to mess around with too much, but I've been taking 75 mg DHEA for about 10 days and it is really lifting my mood. I know it is often prescribed for DOR patients during IVF. You can't take it pregnant, so if you wanted to try it maybe you could take it CD1 through O day. Only a thought.
@suzycupcake I've heard it's normal to feel tired during stims. I think people like to think of the GTKY as some escapism.
Diagnosis (if you've been): RPL, probably due to being AMA
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Day 4 of stims
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IVF - I started Gonal-F on Friday and had my first bw today since starting. My E2 went from 46 when we checked it last Thursday to 379 today so they're bringing me in again tomorrow to do a u/s and another bw check - they may want to add in the antagonist sooner than anticipated.
How are things going?: Generally really well. So far the injections have been really easy - I do seem to get a headache shortly after the Gonal-F but taking Tylenol beforehand helps. We also have little animal bandaids that are not truly needed but I like that DH puts one on me after the injection. I have also had an elevated mood since a few days into starting the DHEA, as mentioned above, which is really nice.
Any questions?: Not atm.
GTKY: What’s your decorating style? (Traditional, modern, etc.) My decorating style is best described as "trying to be less cluttered and failing". Lol. When we were house shopping we looked at this amazing super modern house. I told DH we couldn't live in a space that required minimalism. I like that style to look at but I'm hopeless at keeping it up.
@jrm_14 have you explained to you H how physically and emotionally draining it is?
@crookshanks10 will you be testing at home?
@nitnat007 with all the stress and pain of IF, you’re allowed to have meltdowns!
@LJMoon6 I know IF is hard to accept but it was kind of nice when I could put it all in the RE’s hands.
@lulu1180 ugh to both the therapist and the prescription not going through. There are do many times where I just want to yell at people to do their jobs correctly!
@suzycupcake I hope your appt goes well on Friday and you have great numbers!
@zamora_spin did they tell you how many follies they expect to see?
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA, mild pcos
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFFET
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): FET tentatively the first week in October.
How are things going?: they’re going.
Any questions?:
GTKY:What’s your decorating style? I don’t even know! Just kinda, if I like something, I buy it!
@lulu1180 Thank you for your optimism! Nothing else to do now but wait... boo! It sounds like you have had quite the time these past couple weeks! I will be thinking of you!
@suzycupcake FX you get good results at your follicle scan
@zamora_spin I definitely appreciate the optimism! I think modern homes are pretty neat but there's no way I could live like that aha. I'd have to hire a maid!
@purplg8r So FF is telling me I can test on Friday when I would be 12dpiui. I think I may test then since it'll be 14 days past trigger so it should be out of my system by then. I'm super nervous to test.

@jrm_14 I hope all goes well at your appointment tomorrow and you can make a decision you are comfortable with.
@crookshanks10 When were you triggered? That could cause your temp to go up if you triggered the day before your IUI. I understand your concern though, same thing happened to me with my first IUI as I had a temp rise before my trigger, but the u/s confirmed I had not O'd yet. Try not to give your temps too much weight in a medicated cycle.
@nitnat007 Sorry about the meltdown but I'm glad you have a good support system around you.
@LJMoon6 I've also been bad about trying to participate in here and I think a lot of it has just been accepting that I am at this point.
@lulu1180 Sorry for all you are dealing with, that is a lot to handle.
@suzycupcake Good luck on Friday.
@zamora_spin That is so sweet about the bandaids. So hopeful for you this cycle.
@purplg8r That's a great decorating style!
Diagnosis (if you've been): Nothing official
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW, O is likely today as I was triggered yesterday morning
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Clomid 100mg days 4-8 and back to back IUIs
How are things going?: Meh. I'm frustrated with my RE. As I think I've mentioned before, they don't do early monitoring, so they have a set date for you to come in around CD15 otherwise instruct you to come in once you get a positive OPK. I did that last cycle and feel it was too late, so this cycle I went as soon as my OPKs started getting close to positive. Welp, it appears that was still too late. I had two follies and they were 28mm and 35mm. Way too big. Maybe there is a chance for the 28, but I'm not holding out much hope. I asked the RE about them being too big and he basically dismissed it saying they see them that large with Clomid and he has no concerns with those. Next cycle I plan to just go in on like CD11 and I'll skip the OPKs.
Any questions?: Nothing I haven't already googled the crap out of.
GTKY: What’s your decorating style? I guess a mix of modern/farmhouse-ish? I do love me some Chip & Jo.

How are things going?: Went in today for my follicle check. Today is CD 10. My biggest was about 13 with one near 12, one near 11, and a free smaller ones around 7-9. Lining was 6.3. Waiting on them to call me with what to do next.
Any questions: Did any of you have to limit exercise or anything during treatment cycles?
GTKY: How do you feel best supported in these weekly threads? I just like being able to ask questions to others going through treatment.
@Sparty18 that’s so frustrating! I would definitely stand up for myself and ask for monitoring (there have been times where I’ve questioned standing up for myself and the ladies in here encouraged me to and I’m so glad I did)
@sparklingdiamond the only time my dr limited my exercise was during stims for IVF & after. I always lightened up some during my TWW though
They finally called me back yesterday and I had to do another shot of Gonal-F last night and another tonight, then go back tomorrow for monitoring again.

@Sparty18 It's completely understandable to be frustrated. You want to know that they are taking care of your body while pumping it full of hormones and to have the best chance of the procedure working. It is absolutely okay to sit down with your doctor saying this is what I need from you and I want this to be a part of our plan.
Afm; I just did my third evening of stims. It should've been the fourth but we had a slight hiccup with a few false positive tests (had to be) on Monday as well as Tuesday morning. I was instructed to not stim Monday night and go in for a blood beta in the morning. Phew because that was a whirlwind. So far I'm doing okay and trying to distract myself from the thoughts of ER coming up very quickly. They did say it would happen really fast once we started. I've been lucky so far to not feel anything with the Menopur except for last night because I didn't ice my skin as long as I usually do or pinch it as hard as I did before. There is definitely some soreness on my right side starting even though I'm switching sides and not injecting in the same spots.
Ladies, I have a question. How many days do you typically stim for and how many u/s do you get?

@suzycupcake as @zamora_spin said after baseline you typically go 4-6 days before first US and/or BW and then depending how fast things are moving either ED or EOD until trigger. Sometimes they might shift one or two days earlier or later just for their scheduling purposes too. Don’t read too much into it - if you have 20mm follicle by day 6 of stims and it doesn’t have any big friends that’s the time to worry... or if by day 10 of stims you see nothing... everything else in between is basically within the realms of normal!
@rallykat14 @purplg8r it will be nice if you’re buddies for FET:-)
@jrm_14 how did your appointment go?
@beachbunnyxo123 I think we all had enough lessons in patience... you’re ready to pass that test!
@crookshanks10 you never know, with your other timing you could still be good
@nitnat007 sounds like you had a fab evening with the other wives!
@lulu1180 welcome back
@ljmoon6 the thing with this is something a few weeks away can seem really soon, and something in a few days time can feel like a lifetime away...
@zamora_spin @sparklingdiamond how did your next appointments go?
@sparty18 with this whole process, I say if in doubt get the second opinion. You can always ignore it, but if you don’t you might always wonder what would be different if you had gone for it.
Diagnosis (if you've been): DOR AMA Autoimmune stuff
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IVF#7 and hoping 7th time a charm
How are things going?Yesterday was CD2 baseline, everything super quiet so started stims last night. Doing MDL again with HGH and even some Low dose prednisone added for good measure. Based on the past I’m expecting ER in around 2 weeks, but you never know if it will be a bit faster.
This last month since we were benched for the cyst I’ve tried to take some time away being a normal person. Which was nice but also necessary as it marked the year since our first IVF cycle - oh how naive we were... and I had a big round birthday celebration which was awesome.
Any questions?: Nope, just chugging along at IVF number 2864 here so feel free to ask any questions. I’m seriously considering a change of career ;-)
GTKY: My style is bit by bit. I can’t see a whole room up front, I start with the main elements and then add things bit by bit. Though I am a cushion addict. Since meeting DH all my cushions have cost lest than €100 each, prior to that I paid crazy money for cushions... is there a cushions anonymous???

@emmasemm Yay! I'm so sorry you have to do 2864 cycles but I hope this one is a good cycle. You are so amazingly knowledgeable.
Update from u/s today - R ovary: 5 @ 15, 1 @ 12, 1 @ 11, 1 @ 9. L ovary: 1 @ 17, 3 @ 15. E2 was 379 on Monday and 603 on Tuesday. Unless they call me today (I guess if my e2 has gone super nuts) I stay on the same meds and come in again on Saturday, likely trigger on Saturday and retrieval Monday. It's going by super quick! The Cetrotide and Menopur are definitely the more intense shots and I'm getting bruised from those. I have started to get tired in the afternoon and a little foggy, and I have some discomfort especially on the right side, but all in all it's not bad.
