How many kids do you already have? Ages? 1 child, DD, she's 5 (April '13)

How are your other kids doing this week? She's pretty good this week. Her Nana is visiting, so that makes the world good. She's got another really wiggly tooth and it's driving her crazy, but she won't let us pull it. She has an emotional breakdown if we ask her to let us. She's a drama queen in most everything lol. She's bound for Broadway someday.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? I'm just so looking forward to being able to tell her (God-willing everything is ok this time). I think she'll be a wonderful helper, and I could use some help right now lol. I've had very mild nausea thus far, but I'm falling asleep at the drop of a hat. My work days seem so much longer.

GTKY: What is something that your friends would consider “so you”? Tripping on anything, or nothing lol.

How are your other kids doing this week? They're doing good. They are best friends (most of the time) and I love watching them play together.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? My kids are only 18 mos apart and they are the best of friends. I worry that this baby, who will be 3 years younger that DD and 4.5 years younger than DS, will feel left out as he/she gets older.

GTKY: What is something that your friends would consider “so you”? Probably talking too fast. Or anything to do with having/wanting animals.

@GeorgiaGirl1230 omg I don't think my parents ever tried to pull my teeth when they were wiggly. That would totally have freaked me out, too, lol. I'm with your DD on this one - although hopefully I'm less dramatic

How many kids do you already have? Ages? 1, DD is almost 13 months

How are your other kids doing this week? she's been a little fussy but normal, teething stuff.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? Rave - BIL and SIL get here tomorrow through Monday. I really enjoy them so I'm looking forward to it and also consider it a challenge to have them not find out we're pregnant. I'm excited to ask at Thanksgiving or Christmas (whenever we tell broader family in person) whether they knew. DH and I have been together for 13 years but they've been together for 25 and I've never seen them without MIL so hoping to get some insight into the crazy that is DH's mom and commiserate a little.
Question - any mamas still breastfeeding? My boobs don't feel any different except that my nipples are more sensitive (or DD's latch has gotten lazy or I have a bleb? but both sides feel weird when she eats). Curious how it's going for others.

GTKY: What is something that your friends would consider “so you”? Discussing traffic/routes to somewhere and/or planning around it. I feel like I'm in an episode of the Californians on SNL (but in the Bay Area, not LA)

How are your other kids doing this week? DS starts his new tumbling class today! He loved his old one, but it was pretty far and they pushed the time back, so it didn’t work for our schedule. I’m hoping this one works out because it’s a minute from my gym and his class is right after my class at the gym.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? My DH is traveling, so I’m just exhausted running after DS. I did get a sitter for tonight so I could go out with some ladies from my gym!

GTKY: What is something that your friends would consider “so you”? Being a little too blunt and having a “Chicago” accent. We live in Wisconsin now and people always point it out haha

They are good. My two oldest stay busy with school, boy scouts, and art club and my the two younger ones are my little tagalongs for farm chores.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? I am so tired and already getting a bit nauseous. My husband travels for work and leaves for a week tomorrow. I'm dreading it. This is going to be a long pregnancy.

GTKY: What is something that your friends would consider “so you”?
Anything boy related (having 4 boys will do that lol) and also anything farm/animal related especially goats, chickens, or cow.

@kvh22 I'm still nursing DS (he is just about 10 months) and I've definitely noticed my nipples are more sensitive as well. Other than that I haven't notice any changes except maybe a slight supply drop.

I cried off an on all day yesterday because I feel "guilty" that we are having another baby while DS is basically still a baby. I'm feeling a bit better today but holy hormones! I better not be this emotional the whole pregnancy 🤣

She just started a new day care by our house and I’m so happy with our decision to move her. It’s a much less fly by the seat of their pants operation.

Am I the only one whose boobs shrinknduring pregnancy? I swear this god I’m normally a D/DD and by my 3rd tri my boobs were a solid B. I could not wear my normal bras- got small nursing bras. TW This happened with my 2nd MC, but not my first pumpkin end TW. Anyway, I’ve been pregnant a week and normal bras are loose. I never herd another person having this issue. DH is tiny and I swear his fat-eating genes go to work when I’m pregnany with his kid.

@kvh22 I was still breastfeeding #3 when I got KU with #4. My nipples were only sensitive for a few weeks. He ended up weaning himself when I was about 20wks pregnant. He was my earliest weaner.

@ibanezstarburst #3 an #4 are 18mos apart. They are best friends! They will be alright. ❤️

Oh, I do have a question. DS hasn't reached the height limit of his bucket seat yet so I've been keeping on with it because it was expensive and I love that it just clicks into the stroller. It's pretty heavy though, 11lbs on its own and 28 with 17lb DS in it. I struggle with it but manage - is this too heavy to be lifting during pregnancy? I definitely have to strain a bit and I'm wondering if it's fine and I can keep using it or if I should just switch him to the convertible car seat. WWYD?

Thanks, @nopegoat and @ibanezstarburst. That's helpful. I had heard supply drops a lot about half way through your pregnancy so if DD weans then, I'll be fine. She'll be almost 18 months at that point.
Also these 2 kiddos will be 21 months apart and I'm so excited for them to be close. My brother is 2 1/2 years older and we were super close when we were younger. I figure I'm giving DD a playmate she will be so happy to have. DH was a youngest by 14 years and wanted kids close together since he didn't have that and wished he did.

@DuchessOfCambridge I made the switch just before 12 months but I wasn't pregnant yet. Your DD sounds like the same size as mine and it was heavy. I'd say if you're used to it, it's okay, but I definitely recall straining, like you said. I did not feel "used to it" anymore. For a few weeks until I bought the second convertible, we kept the bucket in my car all the time (I would just buckle her in and out of it in the car like you would with a convertible) and DH had the convertible in his car. Is it an option to leave the bucket in one of your cars all the time until you decide to get the convertible?

@kvh22 it is, but at that point I feel like I may as well make the switch since truthfully the main reason I like the bucket is because it clicks into the stroller. So easy when he's sleeping! Though I suppose if I'm deadset on getting my money's worth I could just leave the bucket in at all times like you suggested. Maybe that's the way to go. I'm not big on taking risks!

ETA: we have had the convertible for a couple months now, just not using it

Unless you start having complications, a good rule of thumb for physical activity is if you were ok doing it before more than likely its fine when pregnant. Listen to your body If you start getting really cramp and blah afterwards I probably would switch otherwise keep on keeping on.

@DuchessOfCambridge I would personally switch to the rear facing convertible. I loved the bucket, but it just got way too heavy. As your pregnancy progresses, I doubt you'll want to lug that bucket around! Plus, DD loved the convertible - it just seems so much more roomy than the tiny bucket. We have the Britax Advocate and love it.

@nopegoat 4 boys! That is awesome. Are you dreading all the "trying for a girl??" comments? I can only imagine how annoying that was after boy #2.

How are your other kids doing this week? She's doing well. My mom watches her full time at our house which is such a godsend. She has so much fun with her. We actually started informally potty training which is crazy to say. She was waking up dry from naps and semi-dry after the night, so thought we'd give it a whirl. She's already gone twice in the potty! Who thought I would be so excited about this. I'm secretly hoping she'll be out of diapers when this LO arrives.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? Rant - It was SO RAINY today. I had a meeting in another building and got totally soaked on my walk over there. I've had the space heater on all afternoon. Rave - working from home tomorrow, so can stay in PJs all day!

GTKY: What is something that your friends would consider “so you”? Giving 'suggestions' (as they nicely put it) on what I would do/what I think is best. I realize that makes me sound super annoying.

@DuchessOfCambridge or maybe just minimize it for a few weeks? Keep the bucket in your car unless he falls asleep (PS, so in the habit of saying DD, meant DS earlier, sorry!). If he was asleep, give taking it out a try like @nopegoat said and obviously stop if it bothers you at all. Picking up DD at that size (and now) is so easy I won't stop, but the car seat was awkward for me at that point.

@secicc12 oh lord! I'm like a walking freak show every time I go into a store or really anywhere in public lol. Everyone has to stop and ask. "Oh wow. 4 boys. Are they all yours? Your husband must be so proud. Are you going to try for a girl?"

My husband is actually really hoping for a girl this time around. I'm hoping for another boy. I LOVE being a boy mom and this is our last baby and I would hate if everyone thought we stopped because we finally got our girl. But of course we will be happy no matter what!!

@GeorgiaGirl1230 I wouldn't let anyone pull my teeth either! I imagine it's like pulling a scab that's not ready and it would just bleed all over, no?

@chloe97 my boobs don't shrink, but they didn't get bigger until my milk came in and I had that "porn star" effect that people always talk about. I did notice my rib cage expanded a ton so I needed new bras anyway, but the boobs didn't really change at all during pregnancy.

@DuchessOfCambridge we moved DD to the convertible car seat before her first birthday (and before she reached the height limit), but that was because I couldn't deal with the heavy bucket seat anymore. She was actually happier in the convertible with having more room for her arms and cup holders! I would ask your OB's office about the weight lifting if you're really concerned, though.

How are your other kids doing this week? Her cold is finally gone and she's back to her old tricks of refusing to nap a few days a week, being ornery and stubborn. She had a tantrum last night because she didn't want to try grits. But she's also so sweet and adorable so I love her anyway.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? Nothing. I just feel like crap. I had a sh*tty symptom with my pregnancy with DD and it's rearing it's ugly head again this time around. It's going to be a long 34 weeks, ladies.

GTKY: What is something that your friends would consider “so you”? Hmm... IDK, I'm pretty bland lol. My family would say I'm bossy. My friends would say talking about TV because I watch everything. I used to have time to read a bunch too when I commuted on the train. Working from home has all but eliminated my reading time.

@DuchessOfCambridge I was over lugging around the bucket seat by the time ds was 6 months old. We switched him pretty quickly after that and he liked the convertible much better, it seemed more comfortable. We flew with him around 8 months and took the bucket seat for ease of use and he hated being back in it! I vote switch

How are your other kids doing this week? Welllll, he's still toeing the line between completely infuriating and utterly adorable, so I guess just livin' that toddler life! He now thinks the baby is in his tummy so whenever I ask him where "Gozer" is, he lifts his shirt up. We're getting there lol.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? I'm just starting to get stressed about dinner and bed time with two kids. My H helps out, but he's not SUPER helpful, so I don't know how that's all gonna go. Trying not to get too stressed about it, but that's been what's on my mind the most.

@kvh22 and @poshspice, well, pulling may not be the most accurate description of what it would require. All it would take is a little light lift out. I mean, it's sooo ready. The thing is, she's lost 3 teeth and I've had to be responsible for "pulling out" two of them because something she ate knocked them enough to the point of having to do it, so she's been through it already. We would not recreate the tying a string to the tooth and a doorknob and slamming the door lol. Promise!

@DuchessOfCambridge we definitely ditched the bucket seat as quickly as possible. He was about 7 months old. I loved being able to just get him out and carry him around. I wore him more in the carrier or put him in the stroller for longer trips. He loved being able to look around more!

How are your other kids doing this week? She's good! Loving daycare and having her grandma in town. I think she may have had a weird dream last night though. She woke up screaming that she didn't want to brush her teeth. It was literally 3 am and no one was trying to brush her teeth. It was sad to see her so upset and hard to calm her down. Has anyone dealt with something like this?

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? I had my first appt today and I'm so thankful that it went well! Apparently, I'm measuring ahead and my doc wants to move my due date up to April. This confused me because I had been tracking ovulation using CM and BBT, so I thought I knew when I ovulated. I guess my body wanted to surprise me? Anyway, I trust the doctor. I guess I just need to decide whether or not to move BMBs!

GTKY: What is something that your friends would consider “so you”? Being naked. Or wearing tie dye leggings. Or seeing all the Grateful Dead cover bands. Or growing medicinal and culinary herbs for tea and salves. Or knitting complicated socks.

@aels12 Researching for purchases is my go-to procrastination technique lol. It makes me feel so productive!

@nopegoat First, I'm still loling about your goat pic in the other thread. Also Turd #5 - amazing. I also live on a farm. Just veggies for now, but we'd love to get some chickens and goats over the next few years. I love that your little ones help you with the animals! My DD lovessss helping the garden. It'd be so sweet to see her care for animals too

@zuuls_mom I've been stressing about the dinner/bedtime routine too! I just remember those early days with DD where it would take forever to put her to bed. She's got a great routine going now, so I don't want to mess that all up! Also worrying about her being woken up when the new baby goes across the hall (eventually). Clearly not happening for a while, why is this bothering me now?! Fingers crossed her white noise machine works its magic.

@zuuls_mom and @secicc12 logistics of bedtime, bathtime, dinnertime, and going out in public were worrisome for me too. From my experience, while there are some tough days, for the most part the baby ends up adjusting and fitting in to the older one's schedule and it worked out pretty well. Of course there is an adjustment period.

My best advice if you don't have one already get a carrier!!! Nursing a baby while giving the other a bath. Done. Making dinner while the older one plays and the LO doesn't want to be put down. No problem. It's amazing what us Mommas can do when we have to!

@thismustbethemom I wish we would have focused on the garden more first we've had a smaller one but I'm the animal person and my H has the green thumb and since he travels for work animals won. We have chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, a guinea that adopted us, goats, and a Beefy cow. We are on an animal buying freeze now and are finally focusing on our garden. Our 5yr goal is to be able to provide 70% of what we eat for ourselves. It's slow but coming along and I couldn't imagine raising our kids any other way.

@kvh22 only about 20-30%. Maybe 35% in the summer.

We just finished building a small greenhouse and are in the process of doubling the size of our garden. We want to add pigs, bees, and rabbits eventually as well.

How are your other kids doing this week? Getting back into the swing of things, school and their activities. They are both living school so I'm happy about that

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? This is the first time in 6 years that I've had regularly scheduled alone time! It is do nice to clean the house alone and be able to do anything I want. It's about 4 hours on Tuesday and Thursday while DS2 is at preschool. I will be thoroughly enjoying this time until May comes around

it will still be nice to be with the baby alone too.

GTKY: What is something that your friends would consider “so you”? Anything goofy, I dont hold back my true self with my friends and I am just a goofball. I love making people laugh.

These two have been obsessed with this lazy parenting game I made up called "Sleeping Giant" where I lay on the couch with two "talismans" (toys of their choice... usually they choose wands) and they have to try and sneak up, peel back the blanket, and steal the talismans from the giant without waking him up. I thought it was brilliant when I was first "napping" while they played, but now they don't want to play anything else 🙄

@zuuls_mom and @secicc12 I’ve totally been worrying about dinner and bedtime too! I was lying awake in bed last night trying to think of all the freezer meals I should make ahead of time to make it easier, even though it is way too early to do it now and I know it is illogical to stress. Glad to hear I’m not alone!

@kvh22 I’m still breastfeeding and yes nipple soreness is definitely a thing! Other than that, the boobs aren’t too sore this time around though. Also DS has been sort of clingy and wants to nurse more frequently recently so that might be contributing.

How are your other kids doing this week? He’s been waking up at 5:30 every day and also not napping well. Feel so bad, he’s got little dark circles under his eyes. Also he’s been cranky from over tiredness. I can’t see any new teeth coming in and there haven’t been any big changes around here lately, so I’m not sure what’s causing it. Hoping it is just a phase and we can push through it quickly.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? Rant - I do some freelance and this company that I’ve worked for before just requested some work but gave really short notice. I can get it done, but they’ve done things like this before and it is really irritating! Rave - We got a new combo washer/dryer and it’s amazing. I hadn’t realized how bad the old one was until now, lol.

@nopegoat we've been thinking about getting rabbits because they're one of the few things you can have in the city! We're city people but I love the philosophy behind urban homesteading. Though, I do get a little jealous of people who have the space to go all out. Your garden sounds amazing even if you didn't focus on it this year!

How are your other kids doing this week? Good! We've had a great week so far. On Friday, we had a BBQ at DD1's school and got to meet her teacher. Her teacher is amazing and I am so thrilled with how much she's enjoying kindergarten.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? My mornings are so hard. Getting DD1 out to the bus stop is a serious slog and I fully expect that, one of these days, I'm going to be hit by a strong wave of nausea just as the bus pulls up so her bus driver and all the other kids can watch me upchuck onto the lawn.
