I think my initial UO got carried in a different direction; I had a specific person I know irl who eyerolls her baby for every little thing and just seems generally annoyed by the baby, not the symptoms. I complain when I have aches and pains just like everyone else and of course it's healthy to!
@hkom@Jens_Hoes The only person who I don’t mind kissing my belly is my 2 year old. He loves to kiss baby Jellybean and it is so adorable! I would find it super strange if anyone else did that, though. @LLynde5 No judgement! It’s just not something I personally have a desire to spend tons of money on. Plus, it sounds like your DD gets way more use out of her clothes than my son who seems to grow a foot every other month! @texas_t $30 for 9 shirts is my kind of shopping. I love Old Navy!
I am pretty charmed by DD and her cousin (both 4) kissing my belly and talking to baby. I’m also cool with immediate family touching my belly whenever I comment on her being really active (kind of an invitation, in my book). I do not love random coworkers touching my belly. Just nope. It’s only happened once this time so far, but my pregnancy has really only been “out” at work for a week or two.
I love cute kid clothes but don’t spend a ton unless it’s something both functional and nice. I splurge on the northface thermoball jackets which are so warm, but thin enough to be carseat safe.
And DD loves all things with skirts and ruffles and bows. I try to be a bit selective about what items come into the house, because if she gets a pink headband with a sparkly tulle bow, she is going to want to wear it all.the.time. There was a book I read last year that was helpful for me in coming to terms with her uber-girly preferences called A Feminist’s Guide to Raising a Little Princess.
@temmetime I love the look of painted doors as long as it’s deep colors and suits the colors of the house. Blue door on a white house? Yes please. Burgundy door on a grey house? Lovely.
I missed this thread yesterday so I'll add my thoughts since I know you are all dying to know.
Re: shopping carts -- yes, put those things back. How hard is it people?
Re: social media -- I also dislike the excessive sharing. I have not announced my pregnancy on social media and don't plan to. I'll probably put up a birth announcement and a few photos every now and then. My SIL and brother use the Tinybeans app and that has been great. I check it for photos every day since I actually want to see photos of my niece.
Re: pregnancy complaints -- I think I complain a lot, mostly to my husband, and my pregnancy actually hasn't been that tough. It's still a hard physical/emotional process to go through. I don't enjoy being pregnant.
Re: clothes -- I will not buy my kid new clothes. They'll grow out of them in a few months anyway so whats the point? I rarely buy myself new clothes! Maybe when they get to middle school and kids start getting made fun of for not having certain things we will think about it, but my husband thinks it builds character/makes you a better person to get made fun of for stupid stuff anyway .
I am so guilty of buying way too many clothes. I do it for my nieces, and you better believe I'm going to do it for my daughter! After stuff gets spit up on and pooped on a few times, I may back off LOL
Similar to @maureenmce, I'm middle of the road with clothes-buying. I love dressing my son like a little man, so I splurge a little, but not as much as I was planning to before I had him, because yeah, the reality is they mess their cute stuff up and grow out of it two months later. I'm definitely not going to be spending $30 on a pair of designer PJ's, but I do enjoy getting holiday-specific stuff. I got lucky with having two December babies, so I should be able to reuse a lot of my son's more neutral stuff for Theda. That said, I do enjoy baby clothes shopping so I may not be able to resist supplementing with some very cute girly things. I just discovered Gymboree this past week

After stalking one of the due date check ins, I have an UO to add: I LOVE extras in my chili! ESPECIALLY pumpkin. It adds extra nutrients, plus a really nice thick, creamy texture. I add some nutmeg (and sometimes guiness) and it's the perfect fall food. I also add extra veggies like peppers and sweet potato, even spinach. I add whatever veggies I have in the fridge basically, except carrots and celery because then I feel like it would be too much like chicken soup. I've never added mushrooms, but you ladies gave me a great idea for next time
Re: clothes, similar to @PensiveCrayon and @maureenmce here. I mistly buy DS new clothes because I want to or like certain styles, I don't splurge and get super expensive stuff often though. I love The Children's Place for cheap clothes! If it's not on sale it can be a little more than I'm willing some times, but their sales are freaking awesome! We've gotten a lot of shorts for DS there for maybe $3-4 a pair at times, shirts too. But like PensiveCrayon, I love dressing him like a little man. He wears so many cardigans and sweaters/sweater vests during winter lol.
ETA not sure if this is UO or FFC, but...I don't like chili.
I don't spend a lot of money on little clothes, but I do buy them. DS has a couple pair of jeans and some other non-sweat pants pants. He only has one pair of shorts for the summer that are like the sweat pants material, but they're comfy short with a T shirt is his daily wear. I do buy some outfit with button up shirts and what not for church. He actually hasn't grown much since last winter so I am hoping we can reuse all his non-onesie clothes!
I usually buy clothes from Wal Mart, Target, and Carters. I wait until there are sales. I buy almost nothing unless it's on sale. lol I'm cheap.. plus they outgrow stuff SO FAST!!
