  • I was so darn excited about working again but I have instant regret. We have a no talking rule. its a warehouse job....so everyone works in absolute silence. if youre caught talking, 3 strikes and youre out. its outrageous. I did a serving job and we were allowed to talk even in the dining room.
Also my amazing bf ordered my fave pizza from my fave pizza place because i warned him ahead of time that I was having a rough day. bless his heart haha

I have to ask why?! That’s a crazy rule!

Does your employer think you guys are robots or something? That's a bit extreme.

  • @kels00091 no talking at all seems so extreme. Do they think some casual conversation is going to affect productivity that much? It does not sound like a great place to work, that's for sure.

I've come down with a brutal cold. I should have expected it - I work at a school and we just finished our first week back, so of course I was going to get sick.

  • @psychobutthead pregnancy brain is in full effect over here too.

DH and I are not telling anyone until around 20 weeks when all the genetic testing and u/s are complete. The only people that know right now are people at my work because there are certain things that I cannot do at work when pregnant. I am hoping that I will have the 20 week u/s early because I am "high risk" so we can announce to our families between thanksgiving and Christmas. My mother is turning 60 in April and really wants to do a big vacation in May, she keeps talking to me about it and I keep saying "let's just get through the holidays and then we can plan" because obviously if this pregnancy is successful no one is going on vacation in May haha  TW With my first loss at close to 22 weeks we had told our families early at Christmas and many of our close friends. We thankfully did not post anything on social media, which is weird because everything was going so well that I was going to post something at 12 weeks but DH convinced me that we should wait until after 20 weeks and then do an announcement with the sex reveal. End TW So this time I do not think that I will post anything on social media until after the baby is born.

Last time I had to announce early because I was in a wedding and we were ordering dresses that week. It kind of sucked because we barely had time to keep it to ourselves and were almost forced into it. This time we don't know how long we will wait but definitely longer and probably won't announce on FB until after the anatomy scan. ETA - we'd like to tell family at Thanksgiving but my step-cousin-in-law is having her wedding on Black Friday so I don't want to steal her thunder. For them we may tell early so it's old news by her wedding.

@secicc12 I was in a wedding at 34 weeks pregnant so it's a little different but I understand wanting the coming months to be about her and not you. My relationship with the bride (my college bff) was pretty rocky while I was pregnant just because it happened while her engagement was going on and it was clear she didn't like sharing the attention. But at the same time, it was my first pregnancy and something really exciting for me too. You're a really great friend for wanting to be there for her but don't forget about your own feelings. You can't plan your baby around her wedding so if you can't make it, you can't make it. I ended up having a c-section so I had a really hard time walking for two weeks and was in the throes of baby blues, I definitely could not have made it to a wedding at all.

TL;DR - when you're comfortable, let her know your due date and how you're feeling, and let her decide what to do about you being there. She may ask you to step down as MOH so someone else can do it which could definitely sting, but it's less stress for both of you.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge Thanks for the great advice! I think I'll definitely feel better when I can just tell her what's going on and let her decide what she'd like to do. I'm feeling so stressed about this whole thing - planning her bachelorette, shower, etc.. And I totally remember the baby blues last time....omg, the random crying was awful! I hope she understands. I'll come back and give an update once we finally talk!

  • @secicc12 Oh I meant to add - I went to her bachelorette at 27 weeks pregnant. It was fine but I was tired and felt very weird at a club with my bump, haha! I hope you come up with a solution that makes you both happy

  • I’m sure it’s too early for cravings, but I can’t stop obsessing about buffalo sauce. I bought a rotisserie chicken for lunch and made buffalo chicken sliders. And now I want to make buffalo chicken dip. Anyone else??

  • @zuuls_mom okay I’ve never had buffalo cauliflower but will have to try that soon.
  • I just love reading these posts. This is our first pregnancy and this community just makes my heart smile with these silly posts and gifs.
This may show just how naive I am, but I can barely keep in the secret! Pretty much any coworker that asks how I am is told that we’re pregnant. We told my in laws because they’re in town and told my parents but are waiting to see my siblings (and 17 nieces and nephews) to tell them the good news.
@psychobutthead thanks for reminding me about my SIL. She’s due in October and I don’t want to steal her thunder. Especially since I shouldn’t be showing yet. Plus, *diva moment* it wasn’t fun to tell my mom and have one of her first reactions be, “Well, your SIL is having her little girl in October, which would make your baby number 19!” I mean, I am super happy for her, but y’all are right, it may be better to wait until the dust settles. Thanksgiving feels good. We’ll see, though. Lol
  • @sparrowsnest22 it is soooo good!!! It's absolutely bonkers that it's as satisfying as a chicken wing to me. Buffalo sorcery.

  • @sparrowsnest22 @psychobutthead and @zuuls_mom I’ve been craving buffalo chicken dip like nobody’s business!  We had some that was so good Labor Day weekend, and I could’ve eaten the whole thing. What’s this buffalo cauliflower y’all speak of?
  • @sparrowsnest22, @psychobutthead, and @zuuls_mom: I've been the opposite. I am a buffalo ADDICT. But lately I'm pretty uninterested in it. It's unusual, I can't help but wonder if it's baby-related. But then, I wonder if everything is baby-related atm.

  • @beccabek92 I’ve told a lot of people. With my first I didn’t but it was exhausting to hide my MS and it’s already kicked in with this one. We won’t do a FB announcement for a while though. Is everybody having issues liking posts? It keeps telling me I don’t have permission

Its amazing.  You can find recipes for it on pinterest.  Its very popular with vegans or people going keto

Takes your cauliflower and dip it in melted butter,  garlic powder,  and buffalo sauce.  Then bake them.  Freaking amazing.  Then you can dip them in ranch or blue cheese.

  • @psychobutthead and all you other buffalo cauliflower lovin' ladies, DH would ADORE this! Thank you for posting. I like doing indian spices on some roasted cauliflower but this would be his jam. Maybe I'll get some this weekend at the farmers market and do indian for me and DD and buffalo for him.

  • @beccabek92 yes, I am the same way! I am trying really hard to keep in the secret but have told my parents, DHs parents, our siblings, 4 of my coworkers know (one is my bff, one is my boss) and 2 figured it out because I’m chewing gum nonstop and have stopped drinking coffee (they knew I was trying). So, there is that! First LO here, too, so I just want to share with the world!

  • Has anyone else noticed that there seems to be an unusually high number of teachers and/or people who work in schools here? Is there something about a May due date that is attractive to education professionals? Or is it just that teachers are more likely to share and chat about their occupation?

  • @k2k2tog a lot of teachers try to plan it so that deliver during the summer months when they are off.

  • @psychobutthead That sounds absolutely amazing! Thank you for the recipe! I can’t wait to try it!
@chucksmom15 I’ve had a hard time liking comments too. I was wondering if it was just me. I also can’t figure out how to tell if someone tags me in a reply. Are there not any notifications?
  • @missmcgonnagal oh that is so sad, buffalo sauce is the bomb! I’m sure it’s baby related! Once you are preggers, the baby calls the shots.
  • @k2k2tog teacher here! My DH and I started trying in July which would make an April due date. We were going to stop in December if it didn’t happen (September due date). Having an end of the year or summer baby allows teachers to take more “time off” with the baby because of summer break. I will get about 4 months off with LO before I have to go back for next school year. It’s very appealing since we don’t have vacation days, just sick days.

  • Ahhhhh! I just found out I'm pregnant and I feel like I'm already behind, haha. I definitely have foggy brain, but I think it's more teacher-back-to-school haze than pregnancy. My courseload changed at the last minute, so I'm rushing to catch up with that.

The only wedding I know of so far is December, so no chance of getting out of it. But it is family, so I might steal a bit if her thunder with people finding out. Oops...

I did forget about that lack of mat leave Americans have. No vacation days either? Come to think of it, I know teachers here have a large number of sick days that they can bank, but I'm not sure if they actually get vacation days... I know they'll plan around summer here a bit too, but I guess it's less important since we get a year off. I work in a school too, but the school year didn't play much into our baby making plans. Maybe if I was actually teaching, it may have.

  • @k2k2tog yes, no vacation days and we get 10 days of sick leave per year that accumulates, at least in my district. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going too long on short term disability (the only way I get paid on maternity leave and I use up my sick days) but still get plenty of time with the LO. Maternity leave is really only about 6-8 weeks in the US.
