@snugglyduckling25 It's so much fun! The techs at this place are great. This one laughed whenever the baby kicked at the wand, and pointed out her lips moving and how she was opening and closing her hand. It made the 40 minute wait worth it
@ab_canada Having a great tech makes a huge difference! I am glad it went well!
I had my 24 week appointment today. I got the orders for my GD test and RhoGam bloodwork that I need to do here in 3.5 weeks. I have been stressing a bit about my weight because I had a pretty large gain between 16 and 20 weeks, but I only gained 3 lbs this time. I still weigh less than I id when I got pregnant with DS 3 years ago, so I am calling that a win! I got to see the OB who I love and (and who was there for my 40 hour labor and performed my c-section) and we had a great talk. I feel so much better about my birth options now! She will be available the week before my due date, which I am really relieved about since I am due New Year's Eve. She explained her reasoning for not letting me go past 40 weeks, which I agree with. So, we decided that I will have cervical checks starting at 36 weeks and if I begin to dilate on my own this time (Let's hope!), they will strip my membranes. If I go into labor on my own I will try for a VBAC, but I can decide to call it at any time, so that it does not go on like last time. If I do not go into labor on my own, we will do a RCS on the 27th or 28th. I will also have an ultrasound at 36 or 37 weeks to attempt to determine the size and position of the baby. If the baby appears to be stuck or overly large again, then I can go ahead and schedule a c-section. I have been so worried about having a RCS or a VBAC since my son was born 2.5 years ago and I am so glad that we now have a plan (with lots of contingincies).
Had another US last week because DD wasn't cooperating for the last two. Dr found what he thinks is a small muscular VSD so we have a Cardiology appointment tomorrow. He says they usually close on their own and just need monitoring. I'm definitely a glass half empty( and cracked, and leaking) kind of person with major anxiety issues so I hit Dr. Google and the first thing that came up was chromosomal abnormalities associated VSD's which has sent me into a Google grief-spiral. We had a 1: 10,000 NIPT, normal NT, normal first tri and quad screen and now 3 level II Ultrasounds but I still can't shake the irrational fear that something is wrong. I'm really hopeful that if there was anything off it would have shown up somewhere in the process. I opted out of an amnio because the Dr really felt it was overkill but now I'm not sure...sorry to rant but after 5 days of googling i'm a hot mess.
@rcultrona As someone in a similar situation (my baby has cleft lip/palate and we decided to opt out of doing an amnio), I feel you. Always a bad idea to google. Just try to calm yourself that the doctor doesn't seem that concerned, you always end up reading about the worst possible outcome on google, and there is nothing you can do at this point anyway. Every once in a while I still get the random "but what if" thoughts, and I try to squash them down. There is no reason to worry over something you have no control.
ab_canada the 90% of my brain that is logical agrees with you completely it's the other 10% that's being a real b****. I hope all goes well with you and your little.
@rcultrona I’m definitely a high anxiety person, so I know it’s easier said than done, but I’d definitely try and take all of the positive news you do have to remain calm. And step away from google. Yay for having a plan though! That’s always helpful, even if it is full of contingencies.
My appointment was great! GD blood work taken, flu shot given and ultrasound looks great. The sch is smaller and baby hit a grown spurt - he’s measuring in the 86 percentile! We will check growth again at 34 weeks to see how he’s looking. I’m definitely just expecting another 9lb baby, if he’s smaller than that, great. If not, I’ve done it once, hopefully I can do it again.
@rcultrona I am so sorry you are going through so much stress. It is terrifying to not know if they are okay in there. Just try to focus on the positive. An amino can be risky, so it sounds like you are doing everything you can for your LO. Google is always a Debbie downer.
@rcultrona Sorry for the stress and anxiety you're experiencing! Hoping for the best for your LO and that it's one of those instances where it resolves on its own.
AFM, 28 week appointment went well. Not sure when I'll get my GD results, but the drink at least didn't make me throw up (though it did make me nauseous.) I did my thyroid blood draw and turned in my hospital pre registration across the street, but I need to go to CVS or something for the TDAP and the flu shot (OB didn't have the flu shots in and they don't do the TDAP in office, which I forgot about.) Otherwise all good on baby's heartbeat and blood pressure, etc. Just crossing fingers for the GD results!
@asun123 oh wow, glad things are under control! I guess the fact that it happened last pregnancy better prepared you for this, you seem so laid back about it! I'd probably be freaking out.
To add to my bitching for the day. I have to be tested for Zika now. I was joking with my Midwife because in my county they re-check for stds around 32 weeks. I guess there are high levels around here. I said “I’m good, unless something went down in Mexico that I am unaware of”. (Typing that it sounds bad but my Midwife knows my HD and we both got a laugh out of it). She knew my husband went to Mexico for a wedding but then all the sudden the Zika light bulb went off. She asks if we have been using condoms since, ummm no I didn’t even think about. I cancelled my trip so I didn’t get Zika and I am still at risk. DH claims he didn’t get bite at all while he was there and has no symptoms. We are probably fine but seriously another thing to worry about. I completely forgot it can be sexually transmitted. *palm to face
Got off apt schedule since as a stm I'd push 4 week visits back to every 5 or 6 weeks. Will be 26 weeks this weekend, apt Friday. Doing 2nd anatomy scan since babe was awkwardly positioned last month and she couldn't get good views of what she needed to see. Also doing 1 hr GD test. With DD I failed the 1 hr but was then sent for the 3 hour twice (passed both times). @snugglyduckling25, good idea on setting calendar reminders to bring drink and drink it. Setting those now!
Also talked to a nurse through my insurance benefits today and she gave me some tips, nice to hear reassuring info. Insurance has a program for expectant moms so i'll have a call with them monthly. It's free and I earn gift cards for competing the program!
Sitting at my 2-hour GD test (didn't even know it was a thing - maybe because I only JUST failed the 1-hour?). Only 75g of sugar for me but the baby started doing flips immediately
Thanks, mamas! I'm not as devastated as I was in 2016 when I failed the 1-hour and had to do the 3-hour. I was a wreck then. I suspected it this time, which is why I asked to go straight to the 3-hour. People always say the subsequent pregnancies are "harder" or "different" (and the old wives' tales about boys), but this time has felt more than just different if that makes sense (no, it doesn't haha). Sigh. It could be worst. Just send me your good vibes for healthy eating and motivation to be more active.
Just counting down the hours till my appointment this afternoon. A couple of client meetings to help me stay productive. I have a nice list of things to talk to them about and I just want the day to be over! Haha.
Got done with my appt. They scheduled my for a growth scan in 2 weeks because I'm measuring a couple of weeks ahead. He's not too worried about it because I'm having a RCS anyway, but I guess we'll see what's going on in there!
@texas_t A couple of weeks ahead?! Goodness. How big was your DS when he was born?

@texas_t solidarity on the big babies. I don’t have my GD results back yet for this pregnancy, but DS1 was 9lbs 5oz with no GD and yesterday this one was measuring to be up that way too. I get another growth scan in 8 weeks to check what he’s up to.
@LLynde5 sorry about the Zika honestly I wouldn't have remembered either. Hopefully there's no issue, though.
@hoosiermama-2 sucks you failed the 3 hour! You can do it, though just 3 more months, and baby will be worth it.
I had an appointment today...at the jeweler. We decided that despite all the chaos and negativity we've been dealt lately, and despite all the money we are shelling out for everything else, we deserve some happiness. So, a bright spot in the difficult times we are going through: we are getting wedding bands and finally going to make it official. I think we have settled on Sept 28 at the court house. No proposal and no engagement, so no diamond for me, but at this point I don't care so much. I would have loved a proposal, but we do need to save some money somewhere and that's something I'm readily willing to sacrifice.
@echo-charlietango Eh, that they make you eat more, will make you grow bigger than a girl, they're generally more difficult pregnancy-wise. Though, I reckon if boys tend to be slightly bigger than newborn girls (which is true yeah?), maybe they do make you eat more... and thus, grow bigger and have a more difficult pregnancy.
@scaredunprepared Yay!! I'm sure that will be such a weight off your shoulders and make you feel much better about everything. I hope that later on you can have the diamond you want and a big party to celebrate

The 10% of my brain that still get anxiety just finds something relaxing to do (bath) or something good to eat (piece of chocolate)
Or if I get really angry at it - gym.

@rcultrona Google is not your friend. Sorry you have been having anxiety about this! Just breathe and take one day at a time. It could be nothing.
@snugglyduckling25 yay for a great appointment and for your SCH getting smaller!
@maureenmce glad the appointment went well and fingers crossed for your GD results.
