@scaredunprepared How exciting! DH and I joked about how we'd only get married when the fines (for not having healthcare) were too much too handle - so we're totally with you for getting married for super practical reasons Besides, you guys were going to get married anyway. Might as well just get it done

@scaredunprepared Yay!! You deserve it!! I keep trying to write to you about your puppers but it has been a tear trigger for me, not being able to find the right words. I understand how hard those decision can be and needing to do whatever you can because your dog has given you so much!!
@hoosiermama-2 I’m sorry about the GD. Look up some fun whole 30 recipes. We follow whole 30 most of the time and you can find some great meal ideas that are low carb/sugar without feeling deprived
We had our meeting with the Cardiologist today. After and hour of poking and prodding they had “suboptimal images” because DD decided to continue her difficult position streak. That being said the Dr said she didn’t see any defects in what they could see and that she couldn’t see the VSD our OB referred us for in the first place. She said it’s possible there is something wrong either in the areas she couldn’t see clearly or perhaps a VSD that is too small to see. BUT she did say she wasn’t concerned and we shouldn’t waste anymore thought on it (easy for her to say) , all the major parts of the heart looked good to go. I’m all clear until after she is born and then they will do a scan just to be sure. I’m trying to take this as the mostly positive news it is rather that falling into another google hole and freaking myself out with the “what if’s”.
@PensiveCrayon@katy0990@morgantu@snugglyduckling25@hkom@LLynde5@echo-charlietango@maureenmce@rcultrona thank you all! We are excited (well, me more than him!) and it's definitely time. I think with him realizing how fast and unexpectedly things can change has really opened his eyes. I know this doesn't make any of the bad stuff go away, but it's something to look forward to, at least! I'm thinking a year down the line we can do a small vow renewal and reception.
@echo-charlietango yes definitely all about the practicality over here. We're such romantics! Lol
@LLynde5 sorry for triggering you! I didn't even think about that that when posting! Thank you for your kindness.
@rcultrona sorry you didn't get the answers you wanted. Remind me, was it a fetal echo or a follow up anatomy scan? Sorry little one refused to cooperate. Hopefully there isn't anything to worry about at all, and I'd take the cardiologist's advice and not be too concerned. Maybe the first image that sent you there was a misinterpretation or smudge!
@rcultrona I hope that put your mind at ease a bit. It does stink that they were not able to get every image they wanted, but there are always in and of us really know for sure our child’s health status until they’re born. Fx all is well with your DD! *hugs*
@scaredunprepared oh my goodness no need to be apologetic!! There is no way to know what will trigger someone’s emotions. I am just slightly over the top when it comes to animals. In General, I am very empathetic but pregnancy heightens that. Plus my geriatric dog that has over come three life threatening illnesses/events increases my sensitives!
I truly believe you chose best option for your dog!
My appointment went well yesterday - my blood pressure is finally back to it's normal (around 110/65) rather than being on the high side of normal. That makes me happy and relieved since pre-eclampsia runs in the family. I cut out added sugars/processed carbs last week (which I've done in the past but fell off the bandwagon at the start of the pregnancy.) I was doing some research last night and I read that sugar can raise your blood pressure. I'm wondering if my blood pressure was higher solely because of that!
Anyways, I confirmed that my next appt at 28 weeks (2 weeks from now) will be super long. Have to arrive early enough to do the glucose test, then when that blood gets drawn, also recheck my thyroid and platelets (since my platelets are low), and have the rhogam antibody screen. Then I go to my actual appointment and have all the normal stuff plus the flu shot, rhogam shot, and TDAP. That's a ton of shots. Haha. They're all going to be good for me, but I'm expecting a sore arm afterwards.
@omnommer Im glad your BP looked good! Have you had the RhoGAM shot before? If not, just a heads up, they give it to you in your hip. Not to freak you out or anything, but just to warn you, you may be a bit sore for a day or 2 afterward.
@omnommer I second @katy0990 comment about the rhogam shot - although I had to get one at 13 weeks this time and they gave it to me in the arm at the hospital which I thought was strange, I've always gotten them in the hip. I went ahead and got my flu shot at my 26 week appointment so I didn't have two sore areas getting them both at 28 weeks.
@katy0990 It's in the hip?! Haha, shows how much I know. Haven't had it before. Yay for soreness. Okay, gotta remember to get all my shots on my right side, so I can sleep on the left side (my normal sleeping position).
@scaredunprepared it was a fetal echo. The image that sent us there was taken at my Perinatologist as part of a regular growth scan. The Cardiologist said since she didn't see anything it could either be really small or could have just been an affect of the doppler that made it look like blood was crossing chambers. I think they were able to see the area that was the original point of concern so I am taking that as a win instead of obsessing over what they couldn't see because there is no way to microscopically investigate every single cell. I need to focus on the good news and not look for other unknowns to stress about ( now if I can just take that advice I will be good to go).
Drank the glucose drink - wasn’t bad at all. Now I wait for another 45 mins.... lol. Also getting my rhogam shot while I’m here. Can’t wait to leave and work from home the rest of the day and then start my weekend.
Has my glucose test and a growth scan today. I will know the results of the glucose by Tuesday. Have bought myself a little chocolate creme pie to eat tonight in case I don’t pass. I cannot be stopped! Growth scan went well...she dropped a bunch percentage wise but my doctor doesn’t seem too concerned and says we will just keep an eye on it.
Just got my glucose results .... anything less than 140 is standard range. I got 139!!! Talk about squeaking in a pass!!! Eeek!! And I just ate a turtle sundae!! Hahaha!
Thank you everyone! We will enjoy our day, for sure! We will be married before baby comes, and YES it should improve our financial situation for labor and delivery because I'll be on SO's insurance plan which will cover 80% !!!!! (That is, if baby stays out and doesn't decide to make a surprise early appearance!).
@rcultrona well I would take the fetal echo results for what they are! That is certainly more accurate than a doppler or standard US. I know what it's like to worry, I did that for 4 weeks waiting for my follow up anatomy scan. Try to relax and take your own advice though of course it's easier said than done.
I've had an insanely busy week and haven't been around . Happy for all the great appointments, @scaredunprepared Congrats! So exciting!
I had my glucose test yesterday and passed. I am anemic though. Anyone else? Doc did prescription iron but said I could also do over the counter. Anyone else need to take extra iron? What are you taking and how is it effecting constipation?
ETA: My OB also wants me working from home 2 consecutive days a week due to my left foot swelling and how ridiculous my commute on public transportation is. I currently work from home Wednesdays so I will be doing Tuesdays and Wednesdays. She also suspects I'll be working from home full time at some point. I am TOTALLY on board with that! LOL
@lexidawg My draw for anemia (and syphilis, ha, let’s hope that one is negative!) is at my next appointment, so I’ll get back to you in like 3 weeks But I’ve been casually taking Floradix, which my MW had me take during my last pregnancy. I like it because it’s easier for me to take than a pill — just a shot of sweet liquid once or twice a day. I haven’t noticed any sort of change in my movements!

@lexidawg I am anemic too. I am just going to take an over the counter one and then add miraxlax or colace because I really don’t wanna get constipated.
@Jens_Hoes That is what my doc suggested if I take an over the counter one. A friend recommended the Rainbow Light brand of Iron. She said she didn't have any constipation issues.
@lexidawg I haven’t heard back from my recent screen, but I was anemic my last pregnancy. I took an over the counter iron supplement and had no issues, but that never is an issue during pregnancy for me. When the doctor told me to pick up a supplement she suggested miralax too, but I waited to see how the iron actually affected me and never had to get the miralax.

@hoosiermama-2 Oh no, I'm so sorry you have GD! I hope it's not too tough to acclimate to the diet. At least we're in the home stretch. Hugs.
