My 24 week appointment is on Tuesday. I’m really looking forward to it because it is with my favorite OB and I have some questions about my prior c-section that I want to ask her since she did the surgery.
The big 28 week appointment is on Tuesday for me! Doing the one hour GD test, getting my TDAP shot, testing my thyroid one last time before baby and (maybe?) getting my flu shot? Not sure if they'll be in/ready yet or if I'll need to wait. But yeah, getting lots of shots and drinking lots of gross stuff, woo!
I have a follow up on Wednesday to check on my blood pressure. I'm also going to do the one hour GD test at that appointment for the second time. I'm usually not nervous about appointments themselves but this one is giving me a little anxiety!
@katy0990 I did pass the first time, my doctor had me take it early on in the pregnancy (I'm guessing because of my weight) and told me I'd have to take it again at 28 weeks. I'm only 26 weeks this week but since we scheduled the follow up for my blood pressure she gave me the script for the test and said to go ahead and do it now instead of waiting.
Friday I get to spend my morning at the hospital after traveling all this week - boy oh boy! Ugh, haha. I have to get a rhogam shot and do my one hour glucose test. Hoping I pass and this will my last visit to the hospital til little Miss arrives.
@maureenmce ooh...good thought on the flu vaccine. I'm going to add that to my list of questions for tomorrow as far as when they get them in, etc. I really should call the pedi to make sure my kids get in too, last year I forgot and then everyone was out of them.
Good luck everyone at your appointments and hoping for passed GD tests!
I have my 26 week appointment tomorrow. An ultrasound to check baby growth and SCH and my 1 hour GD test. I should probably set phone reminders now to remember not only bring the drink to work, but to then drink it at the right time.
@lippy625 That makes sense. I was confused that they were having you do the 1 hour twice. Hope you pass again! @snugglyduckling25 I hope your SCH has resolved! @countrygirl624 Good luck Friday! I would wear comfy pants, if you can. The Rhogam shot can be uncomfortable afterwards.
Good luck to everyone with your appointments and GD tests this week!
@katy0990 thank you! My sch been really stable since about 3 weeks after finding it, so the worry has finally gone down. Especially since we are finally to viability. I may even finally do a social media announcement after tomorrow. I had a picture taken and planned for 13 weeks and we found the sch at 12+5, so I never used it.
I've got an appointment on Wednesday. I got off on my appointment schedule due to a possible yeast infection awhile back, so it's a 26-week appointment, lol. I assume I start every 2 weeks at this point with 28-week being the next. I'm interested to see my blood pressure, since the last three appointments have been higher than it's ever been. They've been on the high side of normal, so the midwife isn't concerned... but my blood pressure has historically been on the edge of low blood pressure and my mom had pre-eclampsia so we're watching it.
For this appointment, I'm asking about the flu shot (since I saw it at the pharmacy yesterday) and asking about getting my platelets checked again. They were at about 120 when we tested it in the first trimester. I've nicked myself in the shower a few times in the past 2 weeks and it seems like it's taken a long time to get it to clot up compared to normal. My sister has super low platelets, so it may be a family trait. If they've gotten too low though, we definitely have to treat it so birth isn't an issue.
Then I need to make sure that next appointment I get the rhogam shot and that we schedule the 1-hour GD test for sometime in the next 2 weeks.
@omnommer GL at your appointment - I hope your BP is back to your normal! FX for everyone doing their glucose tests this week, both the 1- and 3-hour versions! @ab_canada and @snugglyduckling25 Have fun seeing your LO's on your ultrasounds!
AFM, never heard anything from the OB's office, so I'm assuming I don't have GD or an iron deficiency! woohoo! I have an appt this Friday for a regular check-up so I'll double-check all of my results then. A few people have mentioned the flu shot - guess I should ask about that too!
Me: 33, DH: 41 Started IF Feb. 2014 PCOS & MFI (low sperm count and motility) 3 Femara cycles w/natural intercourse over summer 2014, BFN 1 Clomid cycle w/natural intercourse Nov. 2014, BFN IUI March 2015, BFN IUI June 2015, BFN IUI Oct. 2015, BFN IVF Oct. 2016, fresh transfer, 2 day-3 embryos, BFN; nothing to freeze IVF Nov. 2017, fresh transfer, 2 day-5 blasts, BFP; ectopic; 1 blast frozen FET March 2018, 1 day-5 blast, BFP!
@omnommer fingers crossed it's not preeclampsia. Low platelets sounds scary going into labor and delivery, good idea to ask about that.
@snugglyduckling25 glad your SCH is stable and you're worrying less. Viability milestone certainly helps!
@maureenmce I've never gotten the flu vaccine, and truth be told I'm unnecessarily nervous about it. Does getting the vaccine pass on immunity to baby, or just prevent you from getting it? I'm so uneducated about this! I'm so paranoid about baby being born during flu season. I feel like I'm going to reject all visitors and just hibernate all winter until flu season has passed. I don't want to put baby in danger for no reason. I'm surprised my OB hasn't mentioned anything about the flu vaccine or flu season...
Afm, we FINALLY got the results back for the follow up anatomy scan we had done last Wednesday. Baby's heart and hands look good (as we suspected all along...but better safe than sorry), so no need for a fetal echo. Yay! Just a standard OB appointment Friday for me (I'll be just shy of 26 weeks) so we'll probably go over the US results in more detail, discuss and schedule the GD test, and schedule the TDAP. Then I think it will be every 2 weeks from then on!
@scaredunprepared Yes, some of the flu immunity will pass to the baby, which is a major advantage for getting the shot. Plus, the flu is more likely to be severe in pregnant women than non pregnant women, so it's a good idea for your own health as well. Here's a super helpful link from the CDC that might answer any questions you have:
As for hibernating, we will be in the thick of flu season, so it's not a bad idea to limit baby's exposure to crowds, but you will have to go out for some things, so I suggest babywearing as much as possible when do go out, and making sure anyone staying with you for an extended time or handling the baby a lot get a flu shot. (And obviously, have people wash hands, don't touch the baby if sick, etc., you would be surprised how clueless some people can be about this!)
@texas_t I had a Big Mac and fries it’s probably been 10 years since I’ve had one (chicken nuggets ftw). Can’t say it was very great... but it’s right next to my doctors office, haha!
@maureenmce thank you for that info! I think most people who will come into contact with baby get vaccinated regularly, except me and SO. Looks like we will both be getting it this year!
@omnommer I hope your appointment goes well and your blood pressure doesn’t get higher!
@scaredunprepared the very first flu shot I ever received was when I was pregnant with DS1. He was a May baby, so I wasn’t worried so much about the immunity passing to him, but I definitely didn’t want to catch it over the winter. Since then I’ve gotten one every single year except last year because I forgot and they I couldn’t find them anywhere. Luckily our house made it through the flu season without catching it! This is my first cold/flu season baby and I am kind of dreading feeling stuck in the house for months. @maureenmce had some good advice for baby wearing when out, I definitely plan to do that. I have three older kids who will be on winter break for 2 weeks of my maternity leave - we will most definitely have to go somewhere!
Re: flu shots I can't wait to get mine! Last year I think I got the shot in October/November, then was all good until I actually got the flu in February. I felt like I was hit by a train for three days, and very thankful that it wasn't worse. I used to be lackadaisical about getting it annually, then one of my college classmates (we always sat together in any class) got a strain of swine flu and nearly died. Scary AF knowing that he was so close to death, and scary that I was right next to him all semester.

Have an appointment this Friday with my high risk specialist.... I went for my first appointment in August and everything went well. I'm under the impression that if everything is alright this time. I don't have to see them again.. which is great for my sanity and my wallet. DD had some heart issues at the start of the second trimester... but they seem to have resolved themselves.
@scaredunprepared They also recommend the TDAP booster for anyone who comes in contact with baby. That’s not something that adults always get regularly, so you may want to research that one, too.
No appt for me this week. Good luck to everyone doing GD screening and hope your TDaP shot doesnt hurt too much!! (I had mine in last august and now i have to have it again wah wah)
My appointment was canceled today because my Midwife was delivering a baby! I was disappointed a first because now I have an early morning appointment on Wednesday but then got really excited because some other mom was hopefully have the one of best days of her life!!
Derp, I didn't say anything about my actual appointment.
Every two weeks from now on! Everything sounded and measured good. Re shots. She said flu next time if they have them in, and to get DD in at her doc before they run out. Tdap in about a month... she said H doesn't need it this time around since he got it in 2016. I'm officially at the weight I was when I gave birth to DD. I gained 17 lbs with her, which is less than average? But still. Sucks so much for the ego and with three months to go.
@katy0990 thank you for that info! I'll need to double check that my parents got it, but i think they just did last year since my sister had her first then. I know SO's family and friends need to get ALL the vaccines if they plan to see baby. Though not sure how to enforce it...
@snugglyduckling25 I will definitely be following @maureenmce 's advice re: babywearing. And good luck being home bound with 3 bigger kiddos while having a newborn! Definitely going to need to go out once in a while.
@echo-charlietango that is so scary! No wonder you can't wait to get the flu shot!
@hkom that's one nice thing about being in the hospital, I suppose! First dibs on the flu vaccine! Lol
@kirstey728 yay for potentially no more high risk appointments! I'm in the same boat and my wallet is very thankful. Glad whatever issues were there have resolved themselves!
@LLynde5 I don't blame you for your initial disappointment or frustration at the appointment cancellation, but good for you changing your perspective and being happy for that new mama!
@hoosiermama-2 glad all is looking good! I get down about my weight gain sometimes. It seems like that is the norm, unfortunately! Just remember as long as you abs baby are healthy, the number on the scale doesn't matter. I love what other mamas on here have said frequently: your body will do what it has to do to make sure baby is well!
I went into preterm labor over the weekend. Was able to stop the contractions with medicine and was released from the hospital. I had my regular OB appointment on Monday where I also did the glucose test and passed. And I signed my consent forms to get my tubes tied right after I give birth! YAY! haha.

@kirstey728 yay for no more high risk appointments!
@echo-charlietango that is so scary! I remember DS1 was little when the swine flu was going around and finding vaccines was so hard, I finally found one at the county health clinic and since we had an infant we qualified to get one. Last year when I just completely forgot about getting them I was so nervous one of us would get it because it was so bad. I'm really hoping this years flu season is way better than last year, because having a newborn during a bad flu season sounds terrible.
Had out u/s today - everything looked great! Baby is transverse and folded in half; measuring exactly average. When the tech pointed out where the legs were, it made sense that some of the kicks in that spot have been pretty painful. She kicked a few times during the scan, which was fun to see . No need to go back until ~34 weeks!
Re: Weekly Appointments • w/o 9.9

I get to see LO on an u/s tomorrow morning
