Re: Pregnancy brain - it's real and it's here

  • I left a Costco bag of frozen blueberries on the counter for two hours after I got a few out for DD.  :'(

  • I rented a zip car on Saturday for us to drive to the beach and we took a bus to the location. I had forgotten my card and couldn't unlock the car. We took a cab back to apartment, got the card, took the cab back to the car and couldn't unlock it. I called and found out I had made the reservation for Sunday accidentally. I have never done anything like this in my life. Luckily the lovely zip car lady moved the reservation and got us a car right then and there.  Oops.
  • I was in the airport on Tuesday and ordered food during my layover then I walked out of the restaurant without my food.  I was more than halfway to my gate before I realized!
  • I went to the post office yesterday because I needed stamps and I had one unstamped bill to mail and one package. I mailed the package, bought the stamps, and proceeded to leave the unstamped bill on the post office counter still not stamped. Only realized it when I got home and still had a full book of stamps. Hopefully someone sees it and mails it for me?
  • @kianarain I know! I have had the hardest time typing the correct spelling of words lately. I had to write a memo a few week ago that frequently included the word "institution," and I just could not type that word to save my life. Thank goodness for spell check!

  • I keep forgetting words in the middle of a sentence. I’ll be talking and then all of a sudden I have zero clue wtf I’m talking about anymore. It happens multiple times per day.

  • So I teach military public affairs, communication planning, journalism, writing, etc., to service members and civilians in that career field. I too, @DLpanda08, have been forgetting words mid-sentence. It's my job to be a grammar guru and school these people right! I feel like a bumbling moron when I am  teaching and providing feedback. I haven't told them I'm pregnant, yet. I'm totally going to blame it on mom brain.
  • @DLpanda08 Thank you for reminding me! My dad is also colorblind. We were planning on wearing all blue while being around my family this weekend, but he might actually be able to see blue. I'm pretty sure he's red/green color blind. I might just come up with a new plan. LOL

Also, you reminded me that since I'm having a boy he'll most likely be color blind too. Poor guy. I love color.
  • Bringing this back from the dead... I was driving to work this morning and was having trouble seeing the turns in the road. I didn't have my glasses on! I had to turn around and get them.

  • A few weeks ago I could not remember my birth year when completing a medical form. I had to ask a family member what year I was born and even when they told me I didn't have a "oh right!" moment, it was more just "hm, ok". So weird!
  • I'm one of the praise & worship leaders at church. Sunday morning, when warming up in the back pre-service, I kept forgetting the words to the song and mixing it up with another song in the set list. I for sure thought that being reminded/redirected 7 times by my team was enough and I wouldn't forget.
But nope, got right up on stage with the opening song and missed my lead in because I forgot the beginning words. Three times. One of the other vocalists took the lead in this time and I wanted to die of embarrassment when I realized the opening line is the song title. My SO & our pastor were laughing so hard they were crying.
  • I bashed myself in the face with my car door yesterday while getting into my car. I still don’t even know how i managed it, but I hit myself so hard that I have a cut AND an egg right in the middle of my forehead. It’s still sore today and I look ridiculous.

Haha... your story reminds me of the SNL skit for the Amazon Echo Silver.  If you haven't seen it, it's freaking hilarious.

  • Today I drove DH to work with plans to pick him up after his shift and drive together to a family picnic. Ten minutes before I was supposed to leave I took all of my things out to the car to start it and get the air running. Turns out my arm must have hit the lock button. Because now I’m locked out of my running car. Thank god I hadn’t put DD in yet. We have a second car that I had a spare key to. BUT it’s being blocked by the first one with no way to move around it.

My mom had to pick DH up and they’re on their way back now. He happened to lose the spare key literally just last week so I’m hoping he be able to locate it. I was unsuccessful. But I also had a miserable screaming 14 month old toddler parasite while I was searching.

  • I just tried to vacuum without the canister attached... my husband had gone to empty it and I turned back on the vacuum like it would work..
  • Enjoying the Back to Hogwarts marathon happening on SYFY. My mom asked what I was watching and it took me 10 minutes of explaining the plot before I could remember Harry Potter's name.
  • DD threw a tantrum this morning which meant DH forced her to go to daycare and asked me to get her daycare bag.

I got my wallet and key. We got to daycare just now and daycare bag is not with us.

It’s getting so real. I am losing my mind.
  • @tosh24 sorry those things happened to you but they made me laugh out loud!! And how lucky you are to have a sweet and understanding husband! Understandably, it will forever be a joke in your house.
  • Follow up to the locked out of the car story from Sunday...

Wednesday’s is DHs 12 hour shift at work and was DDs first ever day of daycare. I leave for work in the morning two hours before DH so he gets daycare duty. Unfortunately I also happened to drive the car with two keys to work. While having the only key to the other car in my purse.

I work an hour away AND it was only the second day of school with kids so I could not go home. Thank god for my mom again. She picked DD and DH up, dropped DD off to her first day of daycare with him, then drove him to work. That night she had me and DD over for dinner, and then her and her boyfriend drove to our house, took DHs car to his job, and dropped it off so he could drive Home after his shift.

  • @BitterBetty12 wow what a week back to work you have had,  yikes! Bet you are glad it's the weekend. Sorry,  just think, it can't get worse right? Or at least that's what i tell myself sometimes. Thank God for family that helps!
  • @ersh1010 that is definitely what I thought! Until Friday night when I got the email that coxsackie was going around DDs toddler room at daycare. Sure enough she spiked a fever yesterday morning.

  • Just spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to remember how to spell choir, knowing it didn't look right and wondering why googling qhoir wasn't working to bring up the correct spelling! T
    Yikes!
@Kabazaba im utterly impressed you bought something acceptable to wear to work in 10 minutes,  kudos to you!
  • @ersh1010 acceptable in a pinch yes, but DH told me it looked like I bought the dress for $20 in a rush when I got home last night  Qhoir is the best misspelling I've seen in a while :)
