I have my dreaded GTT at the end of the month - I will now have anxiety for the next 4 wks because I despise the glucose drink and it makes me feel super sick. I'm just praying I pass the first one this go round (I had GD with DS#1).
A/S today and Endo next week. I won’t get the results of the anatomy scan until 9/20 unless something is wrong. They told me if I don’t get a phone call then that’s good news, but I really preferred when I saw a doctor right afterwards and got my results immediately.
@bradleysmommy28 I have an appointment with my OB tomorrow and I'm sure I'll be getting the requisition form for the GTT to do in about 4 weeks...blech. I hope it's easy on us both!
Had my placental doppler and growth scan this morning. Asked the tech to also check my cervix - because, anxiety - and she said that it was good and long. Phew! She obviously didn't give me results of the scan, but she said things looked good. Baby got SOOOO much bigger since my A/S 4 weeks ago! S/he was in the fetal position with legs crossed and was punching and kicking up a storm. Tech also said she noticed some BH on the imaging but I wasn't feeling them at the time. I don't know if my OB will have the results by tomorrow, but I see him for a regular check up. He'll also likely start scheduling my follow-up growth scans and my hematologist referral (I have an AI disorder causing low platelets so I have to have extra blood monitoring until delivery). Can't believe it's September already!

I just have a normal check in next week... @bradleysmommy28 I do my sweet drink test (as I’m calling it) in October... I keep hearing about how it makes ppl gag! So nervous about that! @pttomato what’s an endo test? I had to have 2 AS’s because baby was not cooperating the first time. Both techs pointed out some things like confirming sex and done cute things (we even saw the bladder filling!) but neither said all is well. I had an already scheduled appt with my doc after the second scan so luckily I got same day confirm that all looked great. @tosh24 was it you that has to have an extra placenta scan? I have that coming up in October... ETA... I’m loosin m’ mind... @tosh24 you just said in sentence one you had a placental Doppler.... my brain these days! What did they say?!?
my AS with my MFM specialist is 9/14... ten more long days. Anxious to get there, to see baby girl, to check on everything being good. Also nervous about what extra monitoring or health battles I'll face from this point -- hopefully it'll all be gravy! FX for everyone as we get to this point!
@dragonette505 Yup, had it this morning! I had to have it done because my 1st tri screening came back with a low placental growth factor result. It's a new metric they only started screening for in the last year, but it *could* mean baby may not get proper nutrition and could become growth restricted, or it could mean that mom is at a higher risk of hypertension or pre-E. There isn't a ton of data yet. So, I just have to go for extra growth u/s from 28w to delivery to make sure babe is growing OK. I don't have results from the doppler this morning so hopefully everything looks OK. I'll ask my OB tomorrow what exactly they're looking for on the scan and I'll let you know!

@tosh24 obviously I don’t want you to have any extra issues, but part of me would love more frequent scans (again, as long as everything is going well) due to pgal brain.
I have my a/s next week Wednesday at 20w1d finalllly! I didn't have any appointments in August! I'm looking forward to it- I haven't felt many movements, just the occasional (not even daily) flutters. I'm 19w & I remember feeling movement before the a/s with DD. It will be nice to have the confirmation. We meet with the OB immediately after the scan to discuss results, I didn't know until seeing others' comments that some people have to wait for them (that'd stress me out a bit)

Went in today for the 2nd attempt of my anatomy scan. Everything looked great! Baby is head down and still measuring ahead of original EDD, so my doctor bumped it up by 3 days. 1/6 to 1/3 and he said I will go to hospital on 12/27 to start induction (I have a few medical problems that require a slow induction under close monitoring.) Looks like we'll get to meet our newest bundle of joy on 12/28!!!
Ok been trying to post here for 20 minutes and the app keeps kicking me off.
We have our AS tomorrow at 8am. And an appointment with the Dr immediately after for the results. Super excited!
@dragonette505- I had to have the 3 hour glucose test before I ever became pregnant due to the fact I have PCOS and they wanted to make sure everything was good going in. The sugar stuff they make you drink is definitely not something I would pick out to drink, but for me at least it didn’t make me feel sick. Does anyone remember Surge soda? To me it tasted kind of like that.
@dragonette505 I HATE the glucola. Its basically like drinking orange soda syrup to me. I also had gastric bypass a few years ago and since then, I get super low blood sugar if I eat something sugary and it makes me feel horrible so its another reason I'm not looking forward to it.
The orange glucola reminded me of a melted otter pop. I definitely recommend bringing a snack for afterwards. I crashed really badly after my 3 hour GTT.
Had my AS yesterday and baby boy looks good. I go back for growth scans on 28 and 32 weeks to help make a decision about c or v delivery. Simce uterine inversions are hella rare no one knows which route might be better, but it seems like consensus is leaming towards another v unless the baby is much bigger than DD was. Then it would be a c. All this is a little annoying because in the end you cant really plan anything and baby could end up breach and then it will be a c anyway. Or something else happens to throw any "plans" out the window. I didn't even consider a second baby until i was in a place where I could be mentally OK with a 2nd vag birth, since anything can happen and I didn't want depend absolutely on a c, but the constant discussion is getting to me. I just want to fast forward.
@dragonette505 My OB confirmed today that the placenta doppler is purely to look at the blood flow through the placenta and umbilical cord to ensure it's sufficient for baby's growth (flow of nutrients and oxygen). Indications for requiring one would be 1st tri screening results, small fetal size, anemia, and hypertension (or risk of hypertension) in the mother. May be other reasons why an OB would order one. Do you know why your OB wants you to have one?
AFM, uneventful OB check-up today. Much to my surprise, I am now 5 lbs above my pre-pregnancy weight which means I've gained back everything I lost and then some. Might need to start slowing my roll lol! Placenta doppler was normal and baby's growth is on track (measured 22+0 yesterday at 22+1 which is in the 50th percentile). Cervix is closed, long, and stable. Blood pressure is normal. Baby's HB was 151 today. I go back in 4 weeks at which point he'll give me the req for the GTT, another growth scan, and bloodwork to monitor my platelets.

Quick and easy check up with the midwife today. LG has a tradition of kicking the Doppler and immediately rolling away from whomever is holding it that has yet to be broken. A/S next week (FINALLY) and then I see the OB first week of Oct, I'll get my flu shot then and schedule my GTT.
I’m still having nausea and vomiting so I get a feeling this sugar test is going to be gagging:(
I had severe morning sickness with #1 that lasted the whole pregnancy. Drinking the drink itself wasn't actually too bad for me, but I definitely did feel queasy by the end. I went and got myself some protein ASAP after, and that helped. But I'm not going to lie, it was kinda a rough rest of the day.

I’m actually in the middle of the hour wait for my glucose test. The drink doesn’t bother me much, just tastes like orange drink from McDonald’s that needs to be watered down. I wish it had been cold though. They wanted me in early to do it because my last baby was over 10lbs. I failed last time and passed the three hour. I REALLY don’t want to have to do the three hour again.
This afternoon I have my regular appointment with my doctor. I have s bunch of questions for so I’m glad I get to see her today.
I have a follow up anatomy scan and OBGYN check up on 9/14. Part of me feels lucky to be getting to see her so much but part of me is annoyed. Everything has come up normal and extremely healthy so I'm not sure why my doctor does so many ultrasound center tests (3) and appointments with her. I'm taking a personal day since I have two appts that day.
Also, my FSA card ran out since I maxed it out from IVF so now I actually feel it when I have to pay a $70 or $150 copay at the ultrasound center. I just got a $200 bill leftover from the IVF clinic I thought we had paid all of but I guess it was monitoring once I got pregnant. Wah, bills.
@dragonette505 yes they recommended it for me. We get them every year anyway but she recommended I get it early in the season to lessen my chances of the flu while pregnant.
I am currently sitting in the OB waiting room for appointment number 1 today. Then at 115 I have high risk to scan baby B's kidney and a meetup with the doctor immediately after to go over results.
I'm going to guess I'm in for some more blood tests. My iron with DD was always low, and I feel like it's worse this time with how tired I am and how easily I'm bruising. I'm already on 5 pills a day, so I'm sure itll just mean more.
@MrsHudson2014 Good Luck with your iron! I will say, I had 2 iron infusions a few weeks ago and the amount of energy I have now was WELL worth it. I wasn't absorbing any of the pills I was taking either and they were actually making me sick
I passed my early one hour! 110! Last time i failed the one hour spectacularly with 182 and had to take the three hour, which I then passed. I have to do the one hour again at 28 weeks but I’m so relieved.
Had our anatomy scan yesterday. I had so much anxiety about it the last few weeks but it went well. Baby is a girl. Had a regular OB appointment today and got taken off pelvic rest, which I'm very happy about Even though everything looked good, she wants to me to come back in two weeks for one more cervix check since this was around the time it started funneling with DD. I'm glad she was ok with another check because I'm still worried about it happening again.
My app has been wonky... so I've done a lot of lurking rather than posting. We have been referred to a specialist due to a positive quad screening. They are doing a level 2 ultrasound on Wednesday, and then my regular OB will be doing a A/S ultrasound at the end of the month. Is that common to do both?
@furmama1986 most likely. A friend of mine was referred to MFM for her son's kidney issues but she still saw both the MFM and OB and got U/S with both.

When our bloodwork came back with the higher risk for downs and we decided to do the amnio, the perinatologist/MFM did a level 2 scan. When she finished, she said that things looked good, but we might as well keep our regular anatomy scan on the books. Granted, the first scan was early and we moved the official anatomy scan back, so we have more space between the two, but it sounded like that's what she always says regardless of the timing. So from my experience, I think it's likely normal for the specialist to do an extra scan in addition to the anatomy scan.
Me: 30 DH: 32 ~~ TTC #1: Sep 2015 ~~ BFP: Mar 2016 ~~ Daughter: Nov 2016 TTC #2: April 2018 ~~ BFP: May 2018 ~~ EDD: January 2019
Going in for a last-minute check today for the boob issues I've been complaining about elsewhere lol. I feel like I should be more nervous than I am that they want to see me last minute, but these guys have almost doubled in size (and I'm already big chested) within the last week, so I feel like having some growing issues would be expected.
@furmama1986 I had a positive 1st tri screen (2% risk) but never had any additional u/s. My NT scan was normal and the false positive rate is fairly high for the screening bloodwork, so we just chose to do the NIPT and wait for the regular anatomy scan (but scheduled it earlier at 18.5 weeks). My NIPT came back low risk and my anatomy scan came back normal, so at that point we opted out of the amnio. No further u/s (only a placental one unrelated to DS risk).

@tosh24 thanks for the reply. I've been trying not to worry too much, since it seems like a high false positive rate. It sounds like if the MFM orders a NIPT my insurance will cover it. Nothing like the waiting game.
I have my AS tomorrow afternoon, then meet with the doctor right after for review. We will also have a special heart scan in a few weeks (my OB wants to be cautious since we did IVF).
I saw my Endocrinologist today and he seemed unconcerned by the baby’s size because my blood sugar control is good. He only wanted to schedule one more appointment with me in November, which I find really weird. Blood sugar is typically hardest to control in the third trimester, but he doesn’t think I need to come in after 29 weeks? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since I have been essentially self-managed my whole pregnancy.

Wah, bills.

I'm going to guess I'm in for some more blood tests. My iron with DD was always low, and I feel like it's worse this time with how tired I am and how easily I'm bruising. I'm already on 5 pills a day, so I'm sure itll just mean more.
Even though everything looked good, she wants to me to come back in two weeks for one more cervix check since this was around the time it started funneling with DD. I'm glad she was ok with another check because I'm still worried about it happening again.
