@sammierose464 it just seems unfair to have to fight that hard. I hope your situation resolves itself soon but in the meantime it's only going to make you more stressed and feel worse which totally sucks.
@lest12 I've been highly considering just having my Dr write me out and seeing if I can get disability due to anxiety covered. I asked for 3 days from home and was given 2. I dread going I to the office now.
@sammierose464 my anxiety can get pretty bad so I totally understand. If you're really having a hard time, I would do it. You shouldn't have to suffer. Thinking of you... if you need to talk im here!
@lest12 I’m in ma... what is the new law you mention? I don’t think I’ll need to reference it as my workplace is pretty good about working from home, but just in case...
And also? Eff your boss for ignoring it and emailing you about other stuff. That’s bullshit.
@HoosOnFirst - it's the MA Pregnant Worker's Fairness Act, it passed April 1. It basically builds of the federal laws saying you can't discriminate against pregnant women, but then gives a lot of coverage as to how employers need to tr and at pregnancy related conditions or just aches and pains.
Like, they have to let you take longer breaks or give you different seating or things like that without requiring medical notes. Or on a bigger scale, if you have any issues related to your pregnancy, with drs approval, they have to work with you to provide reasonable accommodations- like changing your work schedule, or letting you work from home, as long as it doesn't harm the business.
So, for me... my job has no actual work from home policy. Some departments let people do it, others are only doing it when they're out on medical leave, etc. I manage financials for a leasing office and I could do my whole job from home. So it isn't unreasonable for me to put in this request.
(Esp when my boss told me he needed me to work from home during my leave... works both ways pal).
On another note, and I might be dating myself... but is your SN a reference to the old bar near Fenway??
@lest12 Ha no! Although I’m a sox fan, so you got that part right It’s actually a college mascot reference. Plus also a pun, cuz I love puns.
I work in accounting and with the exception of training people and managing junior staff, my job can be done remotely too. I work from home one day a week for the last three years but want to move to two shortly. I know they won’t say no, but super helpful to know the new law. I’m working from home in weeks 38-40 and they said fine already. My boss would rather me not go into labor at work (he’s a single dude and I’m the only one with kids on my team lol. I do have to give him credit, he is very good about the kid stuff that comes up).
Im delivering at a Fenway adjacent hospital and this is the first year I’d be ok with the Sox not making the postseason so I don’t run into game traffic.... just don’t tell my grandma that or I’d be disowned. With my daughter it was regular season and she happened to arrive when they were at an away game.
@HoosOnFirst that's so funny! We also live in the Boston area and were going to go to the area to have our first (such great hospitals obviously(... my former ob/gym was right past Fenway on Beacon st and delivers at BW... but DS was due in June and I just couldn't fight the tunnel and Fenway traffic for all my appointments, lol.
Im glad your boss is so supportive! It makes such a difference.
@lest12 I live about 50 min from BW so I’m nervous about going into labor so far away, but my ob is on the green line and so is my company so it’s been so easy for appointments. Although both pregnancies I’ve confirmed that the green line is the worst of all lines for pregnant ladies. One time the only person that got up for me was another pregnant lady. True story. I considered newton Wellesley this time but was too lazy to switch OBs. But it’s my backup if I head to BW and don’t think I’ll make it!
Just chillin in my cube when baby decides to do a full body stretch out of nowhere and it causes me to gasp and grab my belly at the same time, totally wigging out my cube mate.
If I'm going to haul myself into work for these next few weeks, might as well find the humor in it.
@hoosonfirst - the train for pregnant ladies is not good! My sister just delivered a few weeks ago... we are on the blue line. I don't know if you saw the train that got stuck last month between Maverick and Aquarium station and they had everyone walking through the tunnels! All I could think is imagine if that was my sister... yikes!
