Yesterday DH and I drove out of town for a wedding (to a city we used to live in, yay!). We went out last night for a bit, then we both slept poorly. Luckily we packed snack Spaghetti-Os for dinner because my feet were too hurty for real food
Here are my pained hotel feet. We can’t party like we used to
Next up: breakfast, pool party (@ hotel), wedding. Yay! Tomorrow we drive to the city with tons of friends (who traveled for another wedding) for a quick lunch or coffee, then get back home to love on our best dogs

My kid has been super congested and not sleeping well at night unless he’s next to me (in which case I risk kicks to the belly, yay). Current Bitmoji status:
In more positive news, H is going to try and get to the end of his polished dissertation draft today. Next step is to give it to me for edits, do a final read-through, and then TURN IT IN. He’s been working on this degree since I was pregnant with our son (maybe even before — I can’t remember), so it will be nice to have him back. (Also sorry if I posted this somewhere else. I can’t remember!)
In-laws were supposed to arrive for the week tomorrow but FIL is in the hospital with emergency surgery!

@PensiveCrayon I hope your FIL is okay and your son feels better!
AFM We are hopefully getting our months long attic project done this weekend. Then, I can get the play room organized and get all of the insulation dust out of the nursery. I’m so over the house being a wreck!
We truly have not much going on today. I went for my GD test this morning. Had a long phone chat with my mom about moving/baby shower stuff. We have dinner plans with friends this evening. At some point will make a trip to bbb for last registry stuff. It feels weird not to have anything going on. But in a good way.
I'm spending my day with my cursor hovering over the "place order" button in my cart full of cozy winter clothes at LL Bean. I shouldn't be spending money out of principle but most of it's on clearance AND 25% off for Labor Day!
We have a lazy weekend here. We had overnight guests last night. We might go out and do something all together today. I think they are interested in a shopping related something (being in the city), but we don’t want to spend a lot until next weekend because next weekend we are going to comic con and ikea and those excursions are what we need $ for. I might go with them because I could use more face wash and there’s a lush store in that area.
@morgantu Good luck with your GD test. I'm surprised they offer it on Saturday.
We don't have much going on this weekend. We're having some friends over tonight to make pasta and play games, so we cleaned a bit this morning. Other than that we have no plans, which is actually really nice. We've been very busy this summer so a three-day weekend without much going on sounds great. I've been cleaning and organizing, trying to get rid of stuff to make more space for baby stuff. I didn't sleep well last night so a nap might be in order this afternoon. I really should be doing some work. Maybe tomorrow.
Just checking in quick, I'll come back and read later. At a family reunion for DHs moms family, and I just had my first unsolicited belly rub. I never even had anyone do that when I was pregnant with DS!
Oh I forgot to add. The Bub and I are DEFINITELY getting out of the house as soon as he’s up from his nap to get my yearly PSL! Trying to decide if I want to be hopeful and get it hot, or realistic and get it iced

@kadeephd yeah the hospital system I'm affiliated with has labs all over and you can just pick whichever and go. They also have them with extended hours so I found a Saturday one.
@pensive- I say iced! It's still hot here, plus I bet it would actually be good a little watered down from the ice melt! Can't wait to see this year's pic!
@PensiveCrayon sorry about your son amd FIL being sick, but woot! Congrats that your H has a thisclosetofinished polished draft of his dissertation! You’re almost there!
As for me, we’ve been running errands today. I now have at least a 6 month supply of hair & skin products. We’re going to the zoo tomorrow and having some family and friends over for a barbeque on Monday. Perfectly low key, productive, and leisurely.
Like @katy0990 we are in organization mode! We are reorganizing ALL of our closets and cabinets to make room for baby stuff and for the stuff in my husband's desk that we're getting rid of (it's currently in DD's room where the new crib will be going.) Not exactly looking forward to it, but it'll be great to get done. Otherwise enjoying the mild weather here in LA and probably will take a break at some point to go to the park or zoo with DD and work on my short film script. Kinda bummed we're not going out of town on this long weekend, but getting lots of important stuff done!
@PensiveCrayon I hope your FiL is okay. H worked last night so he is sleeping. Today has been super busy with kid activities (breakfast, farmers market, swim lessons, little napped, big I read to him and did puzzles while little napped). Now I’m trying to make them watch tv so I can do nothing. It’s h’s birthday this weekend. I’m too tired to organize dinner tonight. I’m a lazy wife lol (I did get him a present, card and cake).
@katy0990 somehow missed your post — yay that your project is wrapping up and you can get into organizing mode!
@maureenmce good for you with all the organizing! It’s so satisfying to see things come together.
@hkom we were just in LL Bean by which I mean, we made it through the doors before I need a nap status hit the kiddo. Walked right back out. Go for it!
@Activebaby card, present, & cake totally covers it. Does your big like making cards? That is a bigger hit than anything else.
I’m so jealous of everyone who has motivation to clean and organize! I just... can’t. We have zero plans this weekend, and I should... I might clean a little. I’m still avoiding cleaning the office that will become the nursery. Currently watching trashy tv and relaxing lol
Currently sitting on the porch while my kid plays “hair salon” with my hair. It’s sunny, cool in the shade, and I am winning points with my kid with the ultimate lazy parent game (I literally just sit here). Now, if only I could add in a mojito or crisp white wine, it would be perfect.
You guys, mid reorganization here and I am having SUCH a hard time getting rid of my DD's outgrown baby and early toddler clothes. We live in a 2 bedroom apartment with not much space, so the smart thing to do is get rid of everything I can't hand down to this baby boy but I keep thinking (even though I'll be 38 when this baby is born and we probably do not have the time energy or money for a third at this point) what if we DO have a third baby and she's a girl? I am so weirdly attached to her entire wardrobe but is it silly to hang onto it for a maybe child that is maybe going to be a girl? I know it's just clothes but it doesn't feel that way.
Thanks for the love, guys. FIL is doing fine -- he just needed an emergency surgery for something you really don't want me to go into detail about because it would have you grabbing your crotch in pain. He's out of surgery now and recovering by spending the day watching football. Which is exactly what he would have been doing if it was any other regular Saturday. (Actually, he and MIL were supposed to go to the first OSU game of the season, but now they're saying this is a protest until the coach comes back, ha. Whatever.)
Got my PSL. I must be losing my tolerance for sweet things because gosh darn it this thing is barely drinkable. Here's my September 1 photo

@maureenmce we saved a few pieces of DD’s that we would want to pass down to my sister if she has a daughter, but at the end of the day, I figured I’d have fun buying new baby clothes if/when we had a third. I think I must have done the same with DS’s clothes, because we don’t have anything smaller than 18 mo. Bummer, since we’re having another boy. Yippee, because it’s all so cute and I want to buy all the things.
I walked more than 16,000 steps / 7.25 miles at the state fair today. My feet are not as swollen as I would have expected. Tomorrow I think we’re going to hang out at the pool, today was enough for the whole three day weekend.
@maureenmce I’ve been spoiled by the fact that this is my 3rd boy. I haven’t had to part with anything yet. Now when it’s time I’m going to have 3 sets of memories in the same clothes.
@mag1cbeli3ver They won't be coming next week, but eventually. They just got a rental down here so they can stay here the entire month of December without being all up in our space, so they'll be in and out plenty, especially since H leaves mid-September until December.

I also wish I had the motivation to clean and organize. We walked around downtown for quite a bit this morning and it wiped me out completely. The boys are now all with Grandma for the night and DH and I went to buy buy baby to look at stroller/car seat options. We ended up buying the Britax travel system on clearance, so I’m pretty excited. It was what I originally wanted anyway, just $100 cheaper!
Spent the majority of the day at the MN State Fair and it's one of my favorite days of the year. I can only remember two real family vacation trips growing up where we went out west to the major parks, but without fail we went to the MN State Fair every year. A lot has changed there and I don't spend multiple days doing every single thing like I used to, but it is still a great blast to my past when I see things that are still the same after 30 years.
there are two motivations in sports, which is yours?
We spent 3 hours shopping at SAM’s club stocking up and another 4 hours unloading/organizing the fridge, freezer, and pantry... I am smoked!! I really hope the massive amount of stuff we got lasts us at least a month... why do boys eat so much!?
So many motivated people this weekend! Also, y'all's talk of state fairs make me want to go to mine but it doesnt start until October. I'm not sure I want to waddle around the fair 32 weeks pregnant we hope to work on the nursery tomorrow and we are getting a deep freeze on Monday, yay!
@PensiveCrayon glad your FIL is doing well. You and your son are adorable, I hope he gets well soon. Yay for YH almost finishing his polished draft of his dissertation. Hoping he'll be all yours soon! Enjoy your PSL? Did you wait for the ice to water it down? I usually can't drink mine straight so wait about 15-20 mins for ice to melt a little (like @morgantu suggested), or I ask for only 1-2 pumps of syrup.
@morgantu yay for no GD! Fingers crossed mine goes as well.
@coybig sounds like a good day. Our local fair was just last weekend. It was great! Funnel cake has always been my favorite part!
@snugglyduckling25 nice steal! Did you made the most of your child free evening?
@hkom I'm sorry you can't act on your nesting urges. Maybe you can direct others to organize things to your liking? My sister's SIL was on bedrest from 23 weeks and in the hospital pretty much from that point until she had an emergency c- section at 29 weeks. During that time (and the time she spent in the hospital while baby was in the NICU), she was able to instruct her mom, dad, and hubby to set up the nursery the way she wanted it, had them wash baby clothes, and clean out closets! Maybe this situation allows you to delegate responsibilities rather than attempting to take them all on.
As for me, I've been out of the loop lately. I feel like I've missed so much, and I miss you guys! We have had a VERY busy last week or so. (I apologize, I have already posted about this in the FTM board and weekly check in, so I'm kind of repeating myself). Got the last of the repairs done on the old house that were requested by the buyers, moved the rest of our stuff out of the old house, did our final walk through on Wednesday and said goodbye to our first home. We closed on Thursday. We picked up the check yesterday. Officially back down to 1 mortgage. Bittersweet. I LOVED our first home. It was our dream home. But we needed to downsize. Financially, we are much better off now. I'm sad baby will never know that house, but excited for new memories in our new home.
Like many of you, we have a relatively chill weekend. Today we cleaned, unpacked many boxes, and semi-organized the closets and dressers. Still SOOOOO much left to unpack. Tomorrow is just a painting party and more unpacking, sorting, and organizing. Monday we were supposed to host our first party in the new house, but exhaustion and laziness (and a very messy house!) are winning and we postponed. So we get a day to do NOTHING!
I'm hoping that going forward I will be able to be active on a regular basis again.
Oops coming in late today. Had a pretty good day! I did pull the trigger and got a PnP off of facebook - this is the first baby related purchase so far (I've only bought few maternity shirts and dresses so far) so it was kind of a big deal for me. Then I dragged MH to BBB to test drive some of the strollers I've been eyeing. I thought I was ready but we left completely overwhelmed and only recovered after a brunch. Then we went to a baseball game with friends.
MH is working tomorrow so that should be a quieter day, except for my usual farmers market run, and I'll have to work on a presentation for my work. Maybe I'll squeeze in a PSL in there somewhere. Happy September everyone!
@hannelorre I totally get the overwhelmed feeling of bbb. We went once and did car seat, stroller, and crib, then haven't been back. I think we're going back today for some smaller stuff, hopefully will be our last trip.
@scaredunprepared glad you're getting settled! I'm sure you'll get a lot done today and then yayyyyy rest up tomorrow
@scaredunprepared Congrats on all of the house successes! Enjoy your day doing nothing! You've earned it!
I don't really know if I would be able to instruct anyone on what to do from afar other than just generally clean things, which H says hes taking care of Unfortunately he's not the best at organizing, at least the way that I would do it. The way I see it is that is baby does come early, he'll be in the NICU for some time, so we'll have some time to get things somewhat in order before he comes home. And even if we don't, as long as we have everything he actually needs then we'll be fine.
@hannelorre Yay for September! Treat yourself to a PSL!
@scaredunprepared congrats on the house selling! Our kid free night consisted of bbb and dinner out - nothing too exciting.
@texas_t I want a deep freeze! We really need one, but MH thinks we will just fill that up quickly and have way more food than we need. He hunts though and in December we can barely fit anything in our freezer.
@hannelorre bbb can definitely be overwhelming! Just know that you don’t really need most of the things in that store. I was amazed by their selection of strollers, but once MH saw the one I originally wanted was on clearance, he drove that thing around the store and would not let it go, even though I wanted to check out my options. It was the very last one in stock, so I am glad he did that.
@morgantu@snugglyduckling25 I've been told but didnt believe how crazy these baby stories can be! I'm afraid we'll have to go back one more time to try the car seats in our car but hopefully I can amazon prime everything else Haha. It was nice being able to sit in the gliders though!
