@tlmill I dress DS very traditionally except when he goes to school. DH puts him in play clothes obviously because they get so nasty. However, lately he has been going in his drawers and pulling out the worst outfits imaginable! At least your DD is picking out cute stuff. DS is pulling out mismatched socks and clothes that clash! hahaha
@tlmill - That’s the thing though- your kids are wearing what they want to wear. Totally awesome!
I just get annoyed that we make our kids fit into society’s idea of gender before they decide what they want. (Which is totally dumb since I think you could also make the argument that by putting my kid into what I think of as gender neutral clothing, I’m doing the same thing...)
Also, I just don’t like bubble gum pink and frills in large quantities.
Once when we were going to a big family dinner, DH asked DS2 to wear a button-up shirt because it was “fancy”. It was also plaid. DS2 now thinks all plaid is “fancy”. So now when he wants to dress up he pairs a “fancy” shirt with “fancy” shorts and is essentially a walking mismatched plaid billboard. It’s hilarious and we let him rock it, because he feels like a million bucks
Agreed with @knottieamusements if your kiddos are picking and like those outfits, great! I'm glad they're super stylish little nuggets. I just dont like when its the parents who are going all out and dressing little baby hipster outfits..
