@DLpanda08 the only thing more random than the name Harlan is the $11k payout. Why $11k? Was that their slush fund for the year? Did they crowd source it?
@wolfmum That’s is my husband’s approach as well. With DD we never had a boy name, so we were lucky when she came out a girl. I’m hoping we can at least start discussing names after our anatomy scan on Tuesday.
@ladystout08 I’m not sure why they chose 11k, but it’s definitely weird. I’d hate to have my kid find out I named him after a fast food founder for money. Although in Georgia a kid named Harlan wouldn’t necessarily stand out.

@ladystout08, I’ll bet it’s for the “11 herbs and spices” in their recipe. Definitely not a big enough KFC fan to name my kid after the Colonel, but I can’t say I didn’t think about how much day care that would cover and feel a bit tempted!
@oaklandava Easton is one of my favorite boy names! Love it.
@AshVA Everett James is my number one pick for a boy name so I’m defintiely partial to James Everett!
DH and I can’t come to any kind of agreement on a name for DD2. DD1 is Quinn Everly and honestly I feel like I can’t even come close to matching how much I love that name.
DH jokingly calls her Esmeralda and then told me the other day it’s ‘growing on him’. And then I laughed hysterically. So he knows that’s not an option.

Well it's a boy. So we're screwed. No, but seriously... boy names are rough. Our oldest (also a boy) is named after my husband, so that was easy.
We have 100% decided #3 will have two middle names like our daughter does. And his second middle name will be Ward (my mom's maiden name). We like Eoin, so that's on the short list and we're considering Eoin Kendry Ward at the moment, but we're not sold yet.
So sorta funny story that also now has me questioning our name choice. DS went to spend the weekend with my SIL. When we picked him up yesterday she said that they were talking about the baby and she was pronouncing Lorelei as "Laura-Lee" instead of "Laura-Lie" and DS quickly corrected her and said "No Aunt Leah, it's LorelIE" all sassy. It's funny but not I'm wondering how many people would mispronounce it.
@ladystout08 I would never even think to pronounce Lorelei as Laura-Lee so hopefully it wouldn't be mispronounced too often! Your SIL needs to watch more Gilmore Girls ;-)
My major qualm with Samson is that I've already had multiple people spell it as Sampson, which for some reason really sounds like a dog name to me. But my husband and I have two of the most common, plain names ever and people still find a way to misspell them so I think that's just inevitable.
I'm also irrationally annoyed at the fact that my mom and MIL are already referring to the baby as "Sam". I'm fine with nicknames eventually but I feel like we should actually meet him first and let them come organically. Sam just doesn't sound like a baby name at all to me and I chose Samson because I really like the full name!
sorry catching up a little late -- but I was actually really disappointed about the KFC contest rules! So your baby has to be born on Sept 9 (the Colonel's birthday) to enter, and of course only one entry will win. I'm a (distant) relative of the Colonel, and while I don't love the food nowadays I collect Colonel related art and such (seriously, my kitchen is decorated in Colonel Sanders. I'm not kidding). With all of that being said, we had talked about Harland as a baby name if it was a boy (I mean, it IS a family name)... alas, we're having a girl (yay) and she's definitely not going to be born on Sept 9, so we're out of the running.
@ladystout08 DD1 is Lorelei and it gets mispronounced all the time. She gets irritated by it but has learned to correct people and move on. The majority of peopleget it right though. She loves her name.
So many lovely names! We are having a boy and come fromom two families with a long history of anthony's and Joseph's - and even though this little guy will be the only bou so far in this next generation ( already 8 strong. We have specifically been asked to break the trend.
I am pretty sure we have settled on Jonas Rocco. The biblocal story of Jonah and tue whale carries a lot of meaning for us, and Rocco is a family name
Sorry @ladystout08 it somehow seems soooo simple for some people and then the rest of us can’t figure it out until after the kid comes out. It just felt like there were so many girl options and now we’re hitting a wall on boy names.
Were considering Murphy at this point because DH basically hates everything else. We’ve also been using Joey as the fetus name and now he’s thinking Joey sounds pretty good so now I have that problem.
@wolfmum@kaf1788 DH just isn't sold on Lorelei and the longer he's wishy/washy, the less I like it. DS wasn't named until after birth so idk why I thought this one would be easier. lol
After some nagging, DH likes two syllable names(like DS who is Colton). The only one he likes so far is Emma but it's #1 in our state so that's a no from me. Current list is now.
@ladystout08 I’m having a similar issue on my end. SO and I agreed on a name for our LG. Reegan. To be pronounced with a hard e so not to be confused with the president. Then one day he looks at me and says “I like that name less and less everyday. It doesn’t seem like a pretty little girls name” 🙄 I’ve tried serveral other names with him but no winners. So her name will either be Reegan Marie or Riley Marie. 🤷🏻♀️ He’s given me free reign to name her whatever I want. As long as if we have another and it’s a boy it’s his turn.
We're currently IN LOVE with Verity for our LG but can't seem to fall in love with a name for our LB. We've tossed around Bennett & Felix, but both seem to be really climbing in popularity. I really love the name Credence but haven't been able to sell my SO on it (yet).
DS doesn't have an official name yet, but Jackson is still our likely first choice. DH still prefers Harrison, but I'm not a fan. I love Jackson Allen (DH's middle name), and he'd have the same initials as DH. I can totally picture calling him Jack. I like names that have a shortened version, because I shorten every name. It would bug me if it didn't have a natural shortened version of the name.
I love all the girl names on here!!! Naming a girl was way easier than naming a boy. I keep thinking of girl names I love, but that isn't helpful to me at all.
We are team pink and have decided on Georgia Alice, nickname Gigi. I've always loved staccato initial nicknames - no idea why! But my son's name is Harris William (we call him Harry) and I never thought we could manage to find a name we love as much as that.
I can't even get DH to seriously discuss names.. In the car the other day the only thing he came up with was Aaron, which I honestly don't hate, but I keep thinking of the key and peele youtube video "A-aron".. I don't think I could do that to my son, lol.
Unless DH decides to take a more active role in the name game, it's probably going to be Nathaniel Li based on my preference.
My husband likes Reginald. It's my grandfather's name. I like it but its so old fashioned. We were thinking Reggie but then I think Reggie is a girls name .. Ugh what do you guys think?
Still not set on boy names. I think we'll be going in to the hospital with a top 3 again. Right now, those are: Michael, James, Christopher. We like traditional names, obviously. I'm sure the list may change again by baby time.
Girl name is still Josephine. I doubt that will change. We're pretty set on it.

I'm not convinced we'll land on a name before this baby is born. My current favorite is Rhys (I'm a big fan of gender neutral names and I feel like 'Reese' has popularized this name for girls). I'm looking for feminine 3 syllable names for the MN and haven't landed on anything I love yet.
