Re: Maternity clothes

  • @Katzalia this is great, thanks for sharing! I hate to buy winter coats normally and I was dreading trying to find a maternity one so I'm definitely going to get this.

  • Please share your favorite maternity work pants.  My Gap pants are ok, but am looking to expand my horizons.  My skinny pants from Motherhood feel too tight yet they always fall down.

  • @tunnel I bought my work pants from Anne Taylor last time around. They were good quality BUT they ran small and you can only order online and it took me a few times to get the size right. That was annoying.

  • @tunnel, I have the same question. I have two pairs of pants I like now for work but they’re on the more casual end. One is from Motherhood and the other is some brand I’ve never heard of LED? It is black but kind of probably actually denim, but I’m pretending it’s not. I had a few pair of work pants last time from Gap and Motherhood and H&M that I actually couldn’t bring myself to wear this time. The fabric felt awful, and the last time I was pregnant was 4.5 years ago, when apparently I still wore all bootcut pants.

So far I’ve still been mostly wearing regular work pants or my cozy maternity leggings and dresses. I’m going to have to bail on my regular work pants in the next 2-4 weeks, so I either have to come up with something else, or just do dresses for the duration.
  • @lippy625 @echo-charlietango glad this seems like a good solution to you too. The maternity coat question has felt ridiculously hard (at least to me).

Wearing bootcut pants all the time here. Our bigs are the same age, so I think that was what was available then. I bought one new pair of pants this time (and 2 new pairs of shorts) that aren’t boot cut. I’m wearing a dress today, but it feels so short- I keep checking to make sure I’m covered up. My littlest today kept trying to lift it up...he will usually play with my sweater/cardigan so I don’t think he knows the difference.
  • @Activebaby your name is so familiar — were you May 2014 too? I trailed off pretty quickly after we switched to The Other Place because I hated the tapatalk app, so apologies if I’m wrong.
  • @rosebud332 – I loved LOFT work pants last pregnancy but hate them this time around!  So much polyester!  I also hate having to pay for shipping for returns!

@Katzalia – All of my old maternity pants are also boot cut!  Amazing how much fashion changes in 4 years!  I can’t believe you are still wearing regular work pants!  I bailed on those over 10 weeks ago!

  • So uh, quick panty query. I remember @PensiveCrayon recommending the Intimate Portal panties on Amazon, but I don't remember if there was any panty line criticism. I've come to the sad realization that my parts are just too voluminous right meow for my usual thongs. I really don't want full butt covers, but I don't want panty lines more...so I am willing to concede and buy something larger and seamless...unless someone knows of any thong brands that make wide gussets for non-plus-size women :grimace:

  • @echo-charlietango I have these and I feel like the panty line is hidden pretty well, even in yoga pants.

@echo-charlietango I've been loving the Gilligan and O'Malley undies from Target. They have seamless ones and laser cut ones that have been working super well with not cutting into my stomach and don't show lines.  I prefer the boy shorts but they have briefs too if boy shorts are too much coverage for you. They also have thongs but I haven't worn a thong in probably ten years so I can't speak to how wide the gusset is.

I am a M14 Mom. I joined just before we switched to the other place. You were a familiar name too!
  • @Activebaby I am slow to catch on but nice to know there’s another May14 mama here!!
  • My work pants from last pregnancy are boot cut... or straight leg? They're definitely not skinny because I don't do skinny. I've ordered three other pants from swap.com because I thought the full belly panel would fit me better and keep them from falling down, but nope. I can't win. I think the inset/side panels would be best for me but I am having such a hard time finding any that are affordable!

@AdorkablePixie I think Old Navy has some straight or bootcut side panel pants!
    ETA: at an affordable price.
  • @tunnel I just got some work pants from motherhood maternity - they have them in different leg options (straight, bootcut, etc). I think if you search suiting pants on their website they should come up. They are very comfortable!

My maternity pants are getting tight around the legs a little bit but still still sagging down... ug! Today I brought the belly band out again to hold up my pants at work today.

However I do have a #pregnancywin... still have two maternity winter jackets from last pregnancy (DD was born Feb 16), so I don’t have to invest in that. Although I did lose 50 lbs last year I will just wear them a little big and it’ll be all good!
  • I really like my Motherhood Maternity work pants. One of the pairs I got is comfy and the fabric doesn't hold onto cat fur. That's pretty much my criteria for clothing.

  • @echo-charlietango YAY!  I'm so glad they worked for you!  (so far)
