@sheepshepherdess@aggie0812 Hi! I hope it's okay that I'm popping in here - I'm currently 5 weeks (due 4/26) and was diagnosed with Hashimotos in May which was brought on by postpartum thyroiditis after my loss at 21 weeks last November. I'm so nervous! My endocrinologist is testing my TSH every two weeks but I'm worried about my TPO antibodies. They were 527 last time I checked in July. Do either of you know anything about antibodies and is your doctor concerned about them at all?
Me: 28 | DH: 33 EDD: March 24, 2018 - angel baby at 21 weeks
People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

@haylsbayls-2 My RE doctor didn't even test antibodies, so no she isn't concerned, just monitors TSH. I took a bunch of supplements for months to boost my immune system, and now I eat fermented foods to maintain it. That's pretty much it anymore. I get scared a lot of the time that my antibodies have skyrocketed, but none of my current Drs will check it.
@sheslikeasunburn I couldn't believe they could see it so early! I can't wait for everyone else to have their scans, I'm sending positive thoughts to all.
There are two sacks & two fetal poles. Baby A is measuring beautifully & on schedule. RE said it was promising there were tiny flickers here&there (was at 5+6 Friday).
TW loss
Baby B is measuring pretty far behind and had no signs of progression. RE said Baby B is surrounded by a pocket of blood. He said likely Baby B will not make it.
Started spotting today, as he said I would likely do soon.
@jrm_14 I’m so excited that A is looking great, but so so sorry to hear about B! How are you feeling? So bitter sweet I’m sure. When is your next appointment?
@sheepshepherdess ok that’s good to know! I’m also scared what they’re at right now but I guess there’s nothing we could do anyway. I did go gluten and dairy free for the past four months and now I’m too scared to add them back into my diet.
Me: 28 | DH: 33 EDD: March 24, 2018 - angel baby at 21 weeks
@jrm_14 I am so happy that baby A is doing well but incredibly sorry about Baby B. Hugs.
AFM, my first US is on Wednesday and I'm doing everything I can to continue to stay calm. I've been really nauseous and had food aversions over the past few days so trying to take that as a good sign.

@jrm_14 So sorry about Baby B, but so elated about Baby A. Hope things are clearer at the next ultrasound.
@haylsbayls-2 Once I figured out my sensitivity was pasta and bromated flour, and not gluten in general, my life really improved! And I've had a lot more stable blood sugar adding some types of gluten back in. But I have zero sensitivity, sounds like you might have one. I also know that my doctor says to always be cautious making any major changes in medication, diet, or lifestyle the first trimester, so your instincts are probably right about adding them back.
@madasm0530 GL at your ultrasound Wed, it is a good sign! We'll be eagerly awaiting any updates.
@haylsbayls-2 Sorry for just now getting back to you! When I was first diagnosed, I had somewhere upward of 1600 TPO AB, which is effing scary. I'm pretty sure my trigger was stress. The only thing my endo told me is that high AB is associated with higher incidence of miscarriage which was very not reassuring, but based on a cursory search, it sounds that it's mostly the case due to no treatment before pregnancy. My endo told me to let her know as soon as I get a positive pregnancy test to check levels and adjust dosage. She's checking me every month, and her only concern is ensuring that my levels are "normal." I had been seeing a functional medicine doctor and she told me to stay away from gluten like the plague, even though I have no sensitivity to it.
As such, @sheepshepherdess how are you certain that you don't have a gluten sensitivity other than pasta and bromated flour? I want to know, because I had a (probably hormone-induced) breakdown because I desperately wanted a piece of real bread and am curious to know if I can actually have it without my AB skyrocketing, as my functional medicine doctor implies.
@aggie0812 I honestly can't be 100% sure, but I was doing a food and symptom journal and noticed that I felt fine eating bread as long as it wasn't the kind you buy in bags from the grocery store. I felt even better eating high-gluten flours in things such as bagels and artisan loaves, so that ruled out gluten as the issue for me as well. I'm also trying to follow the science, because there is so much misinformation out there that I can spin myself into a panic over any of my food choices if I google hard enough. I figure that kind of stress is worse than bread, but that's just me.
@sheepshepherdess Yes, I totally understand. I've found some things with valid research findings that gluten MAY be a big problem for these autoimmune problems, but it doesn't seem to imply that it affects 100% of the people who have autoimmune problems like some websites try to claim >.<
@aggie0812 I've seen those studies and it does make me concerned, though I've always heard hashi behaves a little differently from other autoimmune issues as well.
AFM, had another ultrasound today and everything looks good with the hemorrhage, in fact it's shrinking like it's supposed to. Otherwise everything's good and we have heard the heartbeat. Plus a better printout of the 6wk sweet pea. Have one more appt with the RE and then I can switch to my OB.
@50wife How are you? Next appt is tomorrow morning for me.
Possible TW- The brown discharge changed to red bleeding. The RE decided to go ahead & bring me in for a scan before the long weekend. I have a difficult afternoon at work tomorrow & need to have my game face on after my morning appt. Hoping for courage to face to day.
@jrm_14 ugh. So sorry. FX it’s nothing. Keep us updated!
US was great! Our little nugget was measuring right on track and we heard the heartbeat!
