Re: Weekly Symptoms • w/o 8.26

  • Ugh, the sciatica has been HELL this past week! I can't imagine how bad it would be if I didn't see a chiropractor. Seeing him helps some, but not completely. I'm planning on an epsom salt bath tonight.

Also, TMI...I'm sick of these damn yeast infections. I had NONE with DS, in fact, I get them while not pregnant and was thrilled last time when I got a good 9 month break from yeast infections. They just won't stay away this time! My doctor checked to see if it's a more resistant form that requires a longer dosage of the cream, but it's not. And the other OB I saw while she was out treated me for bacterial vaginosis, but that didn't do a thing. I'm having to wear actual pads for all the discharge, panty liners aren't enough. I really hope I don't have one while in labor, but apparently having GD makes me more susceptible to them. Boo.

  • @CecilB93 That sounds super annoying.  I'm surprised the GD diet hasn't helped.. I thought low sugar was supposed to be good for those.

I have had a little bit of bright red spotting, which is always alarming to find.  I am pretty sure it's due to my vaginal polyp.  I had sex a few days ago and I've spotted a couple of times since then.  It's reassuring to be able to feel the kicks after spotting.  If it continues or gets heavier I'll call my OB.  Other than that, it's just the same old heartburn and back pain.

  • @morgantu lol I love that your MIL used the word "blossomed."  I think I've blossomed a bit myself over the past few weeks.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @katy0990 No, the OB said they'd leave it and remove it after I deliver if it doesn't go away on its own.  She did warn me that it might cause bleeding, especially after sex.  Also fx that you don't have polyhydramnios (I had to google that one)!

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • So F this pregnancy...slight TMI warning again...it's midnight, I just "woke up" (barely asleep 10 mins) to a pain in my stomach. It really felt like the pains I get when I need to poop, or potentially throw up, along with some chills (usually another sign of poop for me) so I rush to the bathroom. I sit and go pee, and now nothing. I'm sitting on the floor in front of the toilet because I don't trust my body yet to get back into bed, but wth?? Ugh!! I just want sleep :bawling: and I've been constipated this whole pregnancy except for like one 3-day span where it was the opposite. So ready for December...

  • @CecilB93 I’m sorry you had such a rough night. I hope you got some rest. Are you taking anything for the constipation?
  • @katy0990 managed maybe 4.5 hours unfortunately, so it's gonna be a long day for me. And no, it's never been a huge issue/pain really, other than feeling full and only going about once a week. Idk what's even safe to take. I'm not surprised though, I eat cheese and crackers daily as my healthy snack for GD, so the increase in cheese is partly a cause I'm sure. I'll ask my MFMs office if they have recommendations for something safe when I send in my weekly glucose readings.

  • @CecilB93 I hope your day goes quickly and that you can get some rest tonight! I’m not knowledgeable about GD, at all, so I’m not sure if you can take colace, but it has been a miracle drug for me during both pregnancies.

@CecilB93 My MFM doctor recommended colace, metamucil, and miralax as options.  She said they are all safe. Colace at home didn't work for me at all (but it's seemed to make a difference in the hospital?)  But miralax worked within a few hours of taking it.

  • Thanks ladies! I'll have to check and make sure none of those can affect my blood sugar levels, I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what medicine does or doesn't have an affect lol.

  • I’ve also heard good things about magnesium for constipation! At least I think I have...

  • @CecilB93 Hope you feel better soon! I’ve been dealing with constipation lately too but not that severe. Though a couple weeks ago I had some bad diarrhea. Ugh! Sleeping seems to be getting more and more difficult to remain comfy. Belly growth pains a few times a week continue. Back pains are starting as well if I’m standing for very long periods of time. Also I officially am wearing my wedding rings on my necklace. I fell asleep on the couch Friday night after eating popcorn and I was so swollen. I could not get my rings off my finger and legit had a panic attack. I finally got them off but it hurt super bad. Not quite in the third trimester yet so I’m pretty sad this happened already. :(
  • @countrygirl624 I’m jealous that you could wear them this long! I bought myself larger silicone rings in the first tri, and my silicone sz6 is feeling snug; I need to find the sz7 already (my ring fingers are normally sz5 and I really miss wearing my engagement ring :bawling:).

  • @CecilB93 I'm so sorry you're feeling so awful...from the yeast infections to the tummy troubles!

Lately, it's been consistent heartburn and for the past week, I've had hemorrhoids. :s Last night, I didn't get much sleep because my hips hurt so bad.  I feel like I was flipping over every hour because they hurt so bad.  I hope it doesn't get so bad to where I have to go sleep downstairs in the recliner.

  • @Jens_Hoes You just make me LOL! Not at you - with you!!! Haha!
@echo-charlietango That’s a bummer you had to switch over so soon! I didn’t even think about those silicone bands though ... I will have to look into them!! Definitely a good idea.
  • Oh good @temmetime! I actually just ordered some today because I keep hearing such good things about it in general. Magnesium is the hot supplement of the minute, I think.

  • Ugh...sleeping is just horrible. I wake up all night long just to roll over to my other side and by the middle of the night my hips hurt so bad I just want to lay on my back. However, I know I'm not "supposed" to be doing that so I prop a pillow up next to me to make me feel like I'm laying on my back and that lasts all of 5 minutes.

@Jens_Hoes I'm with you. Nothing I do is comfortable. I was trying to sit with DS2 while he read me a book last night and I had to lay down because just sitting on his bed was torture. I'm not sure how I'm making it another 16 weeks.

@echo-charlietango I might look into those silicone rings. I haven't been able to wear my rings since really early on.  :'(
  • @countrygirl624 @snugglyduckling25 I bought stacking bands from Enso, not to stack them, but because I prefer thin bands. They are true to size, comfortable, and cheap! I've been wearing a white band and it's still bright white

  • @snugglyduckling25 can you sleep propped up? I think laying flat is the issue, but if you're upper body is propped up at all it should be okay. I always end up on my back unintentionally, not much I can do honestly except move when I wake up.

@snugglyduckling25 I feel you on the overwhelming urge to just sleep on my damn back already.  I'm a back sleeper regularly so it's been super annoying not being able to.  My hips have been killing me and shoving a pillow between my legs only helps to much.  I've been waking up at least once per night on my back, but it never feels like I've been there long.  I do seem to have come up with a system in the hospital bed to mostly keep me on my sides, but like you, it requires me to wake up a lot to roll over.

  • I messaged my midwife today about calf cramps at night - I've been waking up with them the past week. I told her it wasn't dehydration since I've been watching that very closely with the heat and smoke we've had here lately. She responded immediately with a suggestion of picking up magnesium supplements - she didn't recommend a particular brand, but said the "powdered kind" to put in water before bed is great and the citrus flavor is quite nice. She said it also has the added benefit of helping sleep. So, that's what I'll be stopping at the store for on my way home! Help with sleep is always nice as well. :)

  • @snugglyduckling25 I'm right there with you at sleeping at night.. some nights are alright, other nights, it feels like I'm tossing and turning because of the hip pain. Some times I give up and end up propping up my pillows so I can technically sleep on my back, but more so I'm not flat on my back.
@echo-charlietango I never heard of stacking bands, but now I'm curious and will have to look into it

Last night was one of those nights my hips wasn't bothering so much as noticed I felt a little dizzy when I had to switch to my other side. I know dizziness can happen during pregnancy, but it's the first time Ive dealt with it being pregnant. Thankfully, I was fine walking around today, however I have had moments where things were kind of like "woah". The only way I can describe it is as feeling tipsy. Interesting feeling knowing you are completely sober!
  • @snugglyduckling25 I can’t sleep any other way but on my back so I use the snoogle curled up to keep me elevated. It’s actually pretty comfortable and I’m sleeping better now that I’ve been doing that instead of using my regular pillows.

@whitneyb89 I felt super dizzy randomly today so much that I had to hold myself up with a wall. It only lasted a few seconds but was kinda scary!

AFM just feeling really big lately. Bending over is an issue. I cleaned all day yesterday so my realtor could come see our house and I was hurting BAD by the end of the day.

  • Jumping on the 'my hip hurts at night' wagon. My ribs are hurting too now and I'm not sure if that's related to poor posture/sleeping from the hip/lower back pain.
Also getting cramps but only couple times last week so far. @omnommer - I've been told natural calm is good for cramps/sleep.
  • I'm having all of the cramps right now. I think it's because I was nesting today and did so much around the house/car but also it's freaking me out a tad.
  • @PensiveCrayon yes to not being able to slouch!! I'm a horrible sloucher, always have been. Well this kid apparently thinks my slouching takes away his space because when I'm slouching is when he's kicking me the most!

  • @mamajudec2018 I’m glad the steroids are helping. I hope the final doses take care of the rest of the numbness!
  • @katy0990 I honestly don't think they are. I'm sorry if my post was confusing. But I'm hoping in the next 3 days they will. If not, we'll have to see if it goes away when my water breaks and if it doesn't then I guess I'll try the dentist after this little boy comes.
  • @mamajudec2018 ugh how frustrating! I'm sorry the steroids don't seem to be working, fingers crossed they do in the next few days! Hoping you can get relief from the muscle cramps and sore hands too.  Maybe take it easy the next few days and see if it's over-exertion related.  Last week I was feeling like crap tuesday and wednesday, after exerting myself too much Monday. After being out of commission for 2 days and resting, I felt much better.

@rosebud332 and @whitneyb89 the random dizzy spells are scary! I had a few episodes before I knew I was pregnant (that might face been my first symptom) and again a few weeks ago. I find the only thing that helped was sleeping it out, like a hangover!

Afm, not much has changed so far this week.  Discomfort continues.  Indigestion, heartburn, and reflux remain constant, especially in the evenings.  Nausea has thankfully subsided since taking it easy.  Occasional leg cramps or headaches.  Back is starting to get achy, especially if I'm sitting in a standard dining chair for some reason.  Not sure if its because my bras are less supportive due to increased size/ weight/ stress or if it's truly a pregnancy thing.
  • Trying to sleep is the worst.  Indigestion and reflux keep me from sleeping and then wake me up as well.  Nothing is touching it.  During the day I am still nauseated ever time I eat.  Lastly tonight while read about everyone else’s symptoms I had my first leg cramp in my quad...ouch!
  • Not to bad here spoke to my midwife about some pelvic pain I was having and it sounds like it's SPD ughh but apart from that everything seems to have calmed down for the most part I just feel huge
