Re: July 2018 FET

  • @leilee101 and @kimberlyshae So sorry that you are both dealing with uncertainty and I will be praying that it turns around for the best.

  • @leilee101 and @kimberlyshae- I am so sorry you both had concerning scans.  My heart goes out to both of you.  I pray that things turn around and better news is around the corner!
  • Hey ladies, Hope it's ok if I join your group late. I've been reading forums for weeks and haven't had the nerve to join any.
@kimberlyshae - I did a FET, 1 5d blast on 7/19. HPT 8 days later was positive, Beta at day 11 was 308 and at day 13 was 689. All going great! Went for an ultrasound at 6w3d last Monday (8/13) and they saw only an empty gestational sac. They didn't take blood that day so unknown Beta. My doc was so pessimistic. He didn't even tell me there's a chance until I asked if it's possible we're just not seeing it. He pretty much told me to be prepared to decide how I want to go through the miscarriage: naturally, d&c, medicine. Gosh!! I've been devastated all week, but trying to stay positive. I've read so many stories online of women in this same situation who see a fetal pole, yolk sac, and heartbeat the following week. My next scan is this Monday. Best of luck to you. I'll be praying for you!

    my history:
hubby and I TTC aprox 5 years.
I'm 40 and have never been pregnant (never even a HPT positive or miscarriage that I know of)
    3 IUIs - unsuccessful
    1st retrieval August 2017 - 12 eggs, 8 fertilized, 4 blasts, ALL abnormal
    2nd retrieval March 2018 - 10 eggs, 8 fertilized, 6 blasts, 1 normal
FET 7/19/18 - natural transfer, no meds until the night of transfer and 1 daily progesterone sup since.

  • @csands78 I am so sorry that you and I are in the same boat. I hope that you get better results on Monday but even if you still can't see it on Monday, please give it another week or 2. Monday is 7 weeks for you, right? I also transferred on the 19th of July so we should be tracking pretty close. I've read women who waited until weeks 9 and 10 before they saw a fetal pole and heartbeat. I just can't imagine doing a d&c before 9 weeks unless I was having symptoms of miscarriage. I am praying for you and hope you get better results for Monday. My hubby and I have also been trying for 5 years. 4 failed IUI's, 1 failed fresh transfer, 1 chemical pregnancy from FET and now this FET. Praying we both get miracles out of this one!!

  • @csands78 You are very welcome here.  I am sorry you are in limbo.  I have had to have that conversation with the doctor in the past and it's a just a terrible feeling.   I hope you get better news on Monday.
  • A big thank you to all the ladies offering advice on my spotting issue. Doc told me to take it easy but wasn’t concerned given that it was brown and very little. My next ultrasound is on Friday and I’m anxious to make sure the little guy is ok.
  • Thanks everyone for your support!
@kimberlyshae - Sounds like we do have a lot in common :) I’m definitely not doing anything before at least 9 weeks. I was told Monday will put me at 7w3d. I’m hoping that’s a little off but who knows. No matter what, I’m going to try to let things pass naturally but will see. Here’s hoping fornthe best for us both!
@lizy181 - I’ve read several articles which say brown spotting is completely normal and even light pink spotting. Hoping and believing all is well for you!
  • @csands78 and @leilee101 good luck at your appts tomorrow! I decided to wait and go back in on Friday which will be 7w5d for me. Praying so hard for us!!  <3 We just have to stay positive.

  • Thanks for all the love, ladies. Unfortunately, baby did not grow at all since Thursday. The heart is still beating but still super weak. I met with my doctor right after the scan and he said to stop taking the hormones tonight, hopefully that will help move things along. I of course do not feel comfortable scheduling the D&C until I have confirmation the heart stops, so will probably pop back in for a scan next week (unless I start bleeding, in which case I can go in sooner). Totally sucks, of course, but trying to look at silver linings: we still have one snowbaby waiting for us, and this is the furthest we have ever gotten on this long ass journey and we have had more hope this past month than we have had in over a year. Thank you all for being such an amazing support for me, it has meant so much. Hope to pop to the October or November FET board at some point.

@csands78 hope today brought you better news than it did for me. And hoping all he best for you this Friday @kimberlyshae - I think the waiting is honestly the worst part so take it easy this week, and stay the heck off google!
  • @leilee101 why does the doc want you to stop taking your meds today if you're coming in for another ultrasound next week? I feel like if you stop your meds you'll miscarry, won't you? Ugh! I hate this! I plan on continuing my meds until I have complete confirmation. This is as far as I've ever gotten also. It's so tough!! Still praying for a turnaround for both of us! How many weeks are you today?

  • @leilee101 I am so sorry to hear.  Creepy internet hugs being sent your way
  • @kimberlyshae he said the pregnancy is not viable, and that keeping me on the meds might just draw out the inevitable. If we had any growth in the past week or so, I might push back on that, but at this point I am 7w6d and the pregnancy is measuring at 6w1d.
  • @leilee101 I just wanted to say I am so sorry you are going through this, my heart goes out to you. I think you have a great attitude in focusing on that this is the furthest you've gotten and that you have another chance. But still doesn't make this any easier. Hugs.
  • Ok, where to start. Thanks EVERYONE for all the support especially when I jumped in so late. I wish I'd done this sooner. I was so lonely going through this and the past few days have been a huge boost in encouragement. That said...They still only saw an empty gestational sac today, nothing more. So they're confirming the diagnosis this is a blighted ovum. I am dated at 7w3d today. My wonderful H and I are ok with this. I think because I've had the past week to absorb the possibility.

@leilee101 - I wish you'd had different news today. I understand not giving up yet since there is a heartbeat. I don't think you're wrong for waiting a while longer to see what happens. I'm also focusing on the fact we've never made it this far and that is very exciting and makes me very optimistic. I have no other normal embryos to transfer, but my awesome H is open to donor egg and we actually reached out to an adoption agency today and will begin looking into that process.

@kimberlyshae - please don't get discouraged by our results today. My friend has a tilted uterus and was in the exact same situation as you and I when she was 7w along. They didn't see the baby because of the uterus, but saw her at 8w. Her daughter is now 8 years old and perfectly healthy and beautiful! Try to breath deeply this week and have faith. I pray for the best for you this Friday.

I'm not doing anything yet. My doc also said I should stop the progesterone since, he said, it's not going to make a difference either way. He said it won't terminate the pregnancy if it is still viable. He said my body will eventually realize this isn't viable and I will miscarriage. I'm going to wait 2 more weeks then do one more scan before taking the medicine. I'll be at 10w1d then so if nothing is seen at that point I don't think I'll second guess myself. I'm really hoping it terminates naturally though. It's a tough choice, and I don't think any of us are wrong for doing whichever we feel is right. Best of luck to all and I can't wait to hear the progress you all continue to make. Baby dust and best wishes!!

  • @csands78 I'm sorry you didn't get better news today. 7w3d is still a little early so I'm glad that you're giving it until week 10. Please keep us posted! Also thank you for your encouragement with your friend's success story. It gives me a smidgen of hope. Lots of prayers going up. <3

  • @csands78 ugh so sorry we didn’t get miracles today. You did PGS testing? We did not, but if our last frozen doesn’t work out and we have to cycle again I will def do that. We had a chemical back in March and now this. I’m glad you are exploring all the different ways to start your family, we are using sperm donor ourselves due to severe male infertility. It takes so much more than DNA to create a family.

  • @leilee101 and @kimberlyshae I haven't been on the boards for a week or so and am so saddened to read the latest news.  Oh ladies, we are here for you every step of the way.  @leilee101 I recommend PGS testing just for a piece of mind but I will say, it is not guaranteed, even though they give you statistics like 65% success rate with PGS-tested, yet my first FET with a PGS embryo failed to implant.
  • @leilee101 I am so sorry you are going through this.  Your attitude is amazing, I am glad you are able to find hope while you're dealing with the situation.

@csands78 My thoughts are with you as well.  I am glad you and H are pulling through this together.  I think waiting a couple weeks to be completely confident in the decision is a good idea.

AFM: Quick update.  We had the follow up with our RE yesterday.  We discussed donor sperm and he said he wouldn't recommend it at this point, but it's our choice, so I don't think we're going to go that route.  He thinks there's something weird going on with my eggs since all my bloodwork and response to stims look good, but he was surprised at the low retrieval number and the low number of blasts.  He said on paper, we should have gotten a lot more eggs and better fertilization.  He want's DH and I both to do a cellular detox over the next two months leading to a November retrieval, and he wants me to do hGH in addition to the regular stim cycle.  So next action for us will be November stimming.

  • @madasm0540 I forget the name of it, they'll be calling me this week.  I won't pretend I completely understood the whole thing, and it's something very new they're trying, but I'm on-board for the sake of trying everything.  For the first month, we'll take the pills that pull the toxins out, then introduce activated charcole in month two (I think) to capture and flush the toxins out.  It's $1300 for the two of us, it's not prescription, but you have to have a license to sell it, so it does sound a bit intense.  It's so new they don't have all their literature together on it so I do feel like a bit of a ginny pig.

  • @kristimh80 not a diet, though I'm already doing that on my own, cutting out all things processed and only eating organic veggies, meats, nuts, seeds and fruits.  The detox is a twice a day pill for the first month and 3x a day in month two.

  • @ChristenMA83 - Best of luck in November! I’ll stalk that board a little and see how you’re doing :)

Leilee101 - we did do PGS and it was my first and only transfer. It implanted so that’s awesome encouraging to me. I’m not sold on PGS tho.  With all this new research coming out about abnormals being transferred back and resulting in healthy babies it makes me wonder if it’s really worth doing the screening. Definitely a personal choice though. Just something I’ve been thinking about. We may go back and look at the other embryos we have and see if any of them are mosaic and could be candidate for transfer. We got 9 total blasts in 2 retrievals and only 1 tested normal.

@leilee101 I'm so sorry you have to go through this.  I have had 2 FET both were PGs and both implanted.  So I do think there is something to it.  Never had a BFP before in my life until after 1st FET.  But I was naive in thinking PGs meant after implantation I was all set.
@ChristenMA83 Never heard of this detox. Sounds interesting.   I did hgh with my second retrieval and had much better results.  We also ate crazy healthy and took ubiquinol, did acupuncture and I did a long lupron protcol instead of antagonist.   So who knows why I had better results but the point is that it is definitely possible to have very different results with another round!  Best of luck!
  • @csands78 and @suziev3 thanks for the feedback about PGS. I think I will def go for it if we end up having to cycle again (praying that we don't), even if it increases the odds the slightest bit it's worth it to me. I also much prefer the frozen transfers, and my clinic has much higher success rates on frozen as well - so I don't mind having to wait out a cycle after the stims and retrieval. My doctor also agreed that we could be much more aggressive with stims if I had to cycle again, I got 11 eggs last time but only 3 embabies made it to blast. So I would hopefully get more embryos and PSG testing would be more cost effective, as my clinic does them in batches of I think 5. Hoping our last frozen embie sticks and all this planning is for nothing, but if I have learned anything from this it's to have plans A thru Z...
  • @leilee101 - I am so sorry to hear your news.  My heart goes out to you.  Your attitude is so inspiring and such a positive way to transition into the next phase of this journey.

@csands78 - I am sorry that your blighted ovum was confirmed.  Glad to hear you are doing ok.  I am also glad that you were able to find some support on this forum.  Best wishes on your next steps!

@ChristenMA83 - That is really interesting what you shared about that cellular detox.  I would be very interested to hear how this impacts the results of your next round of IVF.  That is so great that you have a solid positive plan going forward!
  • @kimberlyshae that sounds really promising! Sending positive thoughts your way!

  • @kimberlyshae So glad you made progress and you have your nurses pulling for you!  Hopefully your little embaby is just a late bloomer.

  • @kimberlyshae I don’t think it can take that long to implant, but I’m not 100% sure.  I do know that with a tilted uterus it can be hard measuring and the fetus can appear smaller, so it could also be that.  <3<3<3

  • @kimberlyshae I have a tilted uterus also. I agree with above, maybe the sonogram tech is just off on measurements. Your's could be pretty tilted which makes it harder. In the early weeks, they are so tiny, it can be hard to get exact measurements. Praying next week that heartbeat is there and you can move forward!
