Re: Randoms 8/20-8/26

  • It's raining where I live and has been since yesterday morning. My family is over it already. Rain makes me so sleepy. All I want to do it is cuddle up on my couch and watch movies today, instead I'm at work like a good worker bee.

  • I'm trying to wait another 3 weeks before I tell work about the pregnancy, but my only pair of work pants barely fit and I'm on the last hole of my belt. I don't know if I'm going to make it another 3 weeks...

  • @meggyme i'm with you girl. leaving saturday for vacation and just had to buy two maternity onepiece suits - mostly for the boobs!!! hoping they fit/look nice because i really don't have time to go shopping between now and then.

i use a cleaning lady once a month just to help me give the house a good deep scrub. she went to her home country of portugal on july 31st. i forget how long she said she was staying but i don't remember it being more than 2 weeks. i've texted her twice recently with no response...... i'm starting to get a little worried! i'll do the deep scrubbing myself for the time being but dang woman, you're scaring me! come back! (i probably just have the dates wrong....)
  • @indigoheightsblog Maybe I'll start it as a poll thread. That way people can share their news by adding their vote to a poll and/or a comment if they want. I agree that some people don't care, but some people do.
  • Either I have a heightened sense of smell today (I don't think I've had this all pregnancy) or the cleaning staff in my office building have gone crazy with their use of cleaning fluids. I swear everywhere I go (except for the main office area, thankfully), I'm inhaling enough cleaning fluid fumes to give me a headache.
  • I do think baby brain can be a real thing at times. I've gone to enter my timecard twice now and as soon as I open up internet explorer to go to the website I need I forget what I am doing with that screen open. It's either baby brain or this head ache making me an idiot today. I was a teller when I was pregnant with my first and I'm surprised I didn't lose my job for how often my drawer didn't balance at the end of the night. Every other teller that was pregnant there had the same issue. Something always got keyed in wrong and we didn't catch it. Thankfully, I haven't messed up any of my reports that I know of yet.

  • @bdesterhouse I have a headache today too! I've been getting a lot of them lately, despite staying super hydrated. I don't remember this with my first pg but maybe it is a pregnancy thing. Annoying.
@indigoheightsblog @brookepdavis Wow, I'm jealous of you ladies! I didn't get any of that early testing which is making me a bit nervous. Plus the added bonus of finding out sex so soon! I'll be stalking that gender reveal thread, so exciting! I love finding out what everyone is having, and how many girls vs boys we'll end up with in this group. I could never be team green, I'm just too impatient and love to plan too much!
  • I’m super jealous of all of you who have your NIPT results!! I’m still trying to convince my dr (and my insurance) that my RE thinks it’s necessary due to our loss history but because I’m under 35 they don’t wanna cover it  :(

  • @mschanandlerbong1214 that's crazy! i don't have any history of losses and my insurance is covering it because my OBGYN insists that all first-timers go the "high risk" route. then on your 2nd, 3rd and so-on... you don't have to go that route. it's definitely not what i was expecting but in hindsight i'm so glad we're doing it!
  • @laur84ns I didn’t get it either! We didn’t get it with DS either. I actually considered it more this time but ultimately we decided against it. I’m definitely going to be watching all the fun as others are finding out.
  • @mschanandlerbong1214 Harmony will charge you $200 if your insurance won’t cover it. InformaSeq will also give you a hefty discount if you agree to do a survey.

We aren’t doing the blood test, but my doctor is sending us for the more in depth 12 week anatomy  ultrasound due to our loss history. I don’t think they tell you baby’s sex during that ultrasound, do they? Edited: spelling is hard lately, ha.

I was just invited on an 8 day work trip to Europe. It would be great for my career, and I have never been, so I would love to go.

They don’t yet know I am pregnant, and I don’t really want to leave my husband and 2 year old for over a week. I work at home, and knew that an occasional trip to Europe would be the trade-off for that kind of freedom. I am just a baby about being away from my people.

My husband is supportive, but I know how much work my kid can be.

    Decisions, decisions...

ETA: I will be drawing a hard line on traveling probably for a year after the baby is born. I did this with my first because I was never willing to disrupt our breastfeeding relationship for work travel.
  • DD2 turns 1 tomorrow and I am freaking out.  And so not ready for her party on Saturday.
  • @maggiemadeit Europe would be amazing! We went to Spain, France, and Italy this last spring. It sucks that you wouldn't be able to drink (and will probably give yourself away during the trip) but the food and sights were incredible as well. 8 days isn't too long, but if you're not comfortable with it pregnancy seems like a perfectly valid excuse to bow out of it.

  • I was riding a pretty good wave of optimism but as my 12 week appointment gets closer (Thursday!) I'm feeling anxious again.
  • @maggiemadeit Europe would be amazing. I travel for work, but I'm sent to places like Haiti and Liberia. It was really hard to leave the first time, but my husband figured it out, and at the end of the day i think it helped him appreciate all the work I do on a daily basis that often goes unnoticed.

I have a tentative trip to Liberia coming next month. I need to talk to my OB about it, specifically about what malaria medication I can take during pregnancy. If there are none, then I'll probably cancel. I don't want to cancel - it's a really important trip and I know once we have two it will be twice as hard to go on work trips.
  • @maggiemadeit I agree with what was just said. I know you're nervous about leaving your little one, but this maybe a great time before having 2 in the mix. Especially, being you usually don't travel for a year after baby. Plus, its a work trip so all expenses paid and you can eat such good food! <3

  • @mayoduck @indigoheightsblog I could barely sleep the night before my last appointment. I hope you both have great visits and get some comfort and reassurance.

@meggyme @indigoheightsblog @gowenc @kristimh80 Thanks for your perspectives. I am leaning towards going. My whole company is in Europe so it’s a great opportunity for face time with my colleagues. I have only been with them for 6 months, so it also feels like a very good sign that they would invest in bringing me over and sending me to European conference. My biggest worry is that they won’t hold my job after maternity leave, so any extra value I can show them at this point is huge.

I was planning on telling my boss about the pregnancy tomorrow at our weekly phone meeting. I am already showing at 12 weeks and will be about 15 weeks when the trip comes. But maybe I will wait until the tickets are purchased lol
  • @bdesterhouse I’m no expert but I think 12weeks is still a little too early for everything to be developed enough to say one way or another.

@meggyme where do you find all your amazing gifs???

  • @mamakate1616 I use an app called giphy. I literally just typed in random and picked one. There are some weird ones on there, but I try to keep people from cringing when they open this thread. That would kind of defeat the purpose.

@bdesterhouse this. Baby’s parts still aren’t fully formed yet for them to give you a definitive answer. I read something that at this stage even girls look like boys down there lol

  • I've had a pretty crummy morning. The guy who parks in front of me took my parking spot this morning. I wanted to block him in. Ridiculous I know, but I couldn't help the thought that if I had tow straps in my truck I could move his car. Then when I got into work this lady watched me walk up to the elevator she was in and she chose to look at her phone instead of pushing the button that stops the door. Rude. What ridiculous thoughts have you had while pregnant? Ones where you think it would be amazing to do it, but know in reality you would never do it because it's that ridiculous and wrong?

Bummer on the ultrasound. Oh well that's what I was kind of thinking, but we've never done this scan before so I wasn't sure what to expect. There was a Youtube video I ran across this morning about a 12 week sex reveal showing the ultrasound. It wasn't confirmed 100%, but I didn't think you could tell via ultrasound until at least 16 weeks and even then isn't a guarantee.

We are still debating if we will stay team green or find out anyways. I think we'll be okay waiting till October to decide if we want to find out if we are having a boy or girl.

  • @bdesterhouse Ugh! Those things would get under my skin too!
I was pretty moody yesterday. After standing in a grocery checkout line for an absurd amount of time and having it barely budge, I was already a bit of a grump as I was driving back home through my neighborhood and this pedestrian sees me coming, decides to cross the street at a time that forces me to slow down, staring me down the whole time and not walking with a purpose. I would have loved to have stopped, rolled down the window and given him a piece of my mind but I just drove around him.
Seriously, though, when I cross a street and I see a car coming, I hustle my butt! I don't trust my life to someone else's breaks or reaction time and plus it's rude to make others bend to you.
  • @mamakate1616 I forgot about that movie but yaaaasss totally want one of those remotes now!
  • Ok now I have to go check out this drive by :)
@mayoduck @indigoheightsblog Good luck at your appointments this week! Mine was yesterday so I totally understand the nerves leading up to it. Keep us posted!
  • @southerngirlinwi ... I’m with you. Who cares?! Such an odd thing to get all frustrated about. I don’t even notice them half the time! Just ignore or answer. The redirecting never works. Nobody ever says “oh ok!” And then introduces themselves properly..... they’re just turned off and don’t ever come back... I would be too!
  • One chick said she had no idea and was going to do what was suggested. So it can work.

@meggyme I didn’t think you were rude or mean in that response. I didn’t know how to respond that wouldn’t make the situation worse, but I wanted to.

@mamakate1616 yes! That would be amazing ! Ugh ppl are just rude and dumb sometimes.

  • My last BMB got really bitchy with some of the drive bys. It honestly was uncalled for - redirect and leave it, no need to pile on. It turned me off from the group for a while, but I'm glad I stuck it out because I'm still in touch with a bunch of the,
  • @purpleteacher82 You know all those quotes about how “no teacher is as teacher tired as beginning of the year teacher tired? When I was pregnant with DS (due in March) people kept posting that in aug and I got so frustrated because I was all in my head like “nobody’s tired like beginning of the year pregnant teacher tired!” It’s proving true this time too! I just keep reminding myself that the 2nd trimester is near and that helps a little.
