Re: Weekly Symptoms • w/o 8.19

  • I’ll start!

I sound like a broken record, at least for the last few weeks. I’m feeling pretty good, especially when I look beyond the gassiness & constipation. Seems like my ribcage keeps expanding (I am tired of getting wider WTF), so an XL softbra is on its way to me (I normally wear a Small).
Kiddo wiggles for me every day, and today DH felt a good kick and roll - yay! Motivation isn’t as high as it could be, but it’s enough to do a few chores before I sit down to a bowl of ice cream. Speaking of ice cream, this week is brought to you by Southern Butter Pecan, just buy a pint already. Yum.

@kristah2 I've been feeling like that for the past few weeks. Like I just can't take a deep enough breath or get enough air.

  • @kristah2 My office is on the second floor and some days it takes me a good few minutes to recover after climbing the stairs, lol!

  • +1 out of breath. I just make it a point each day (especially after errands) to lay down and take deep belly breaths. Relaxes me if nothing else.

Also - HOLY RESTLESS LEGS BATMAN. Last night I woke up around 4-5am (like usual), but instead of needing to pee, I was wishing for blood pressure cuffs for my thighs. Unable to suddenly have them I just tossed and turned while flexing my leg parts until DH woke me. Ugh. I was hoping to live my entire life without RL :disappointed:

  • Only thing is I am finally at the point where my hips ache at night when I sleep. Constantly switching sides. But finally feeling movements which is awesome. Not from the outside yet but still that is comforting.

Restless leg syndrome is the worst. Always when your super tired but they keep you awake.

@echo-charlietango I'm not trying to rub it in I swear!  I'm pretty sad I didn't get that thick luscious 2nd trimester hair on my head though!  It just got a litttle darker and that's it.

ETA:  y'all can have the last laugh when my eyebrows and eyelashes fall out!

  • @hkom I'll trade my heart burn, shortness of breath and RLS for never having to shave my underarms or legs again! My hair also got darker last time. It's probably doing the same thing this time which is super annoying.

I'm +1 with RLS. When I'm watching TV on the couch I often have to go to bed early because I just can't lay there comfortable anymore.
The snoogle helps with it over night and also helps with hip pain though.
  • I've got some TMI symptoms I'll just pop in a spoiler to make me feel better about sharing them:

First off, I. Stink. I think I remember this from last pregnancy or maybe postpartum? Deodorant doesn't seem to touch it. I've been using the aluminum-free stuff that was suggested (I forget the brand, but it's the lavender-sage smell, mmm!) and that doesn't last long, but even when I'm traveling and take along my reliable Secret stuff I still start to smell myself by noon. Please tell me I'm not alone!
Also re: hair growth I'm gonna need to prune the bushes. I generally just ignore whatever goes on down there because I don't have time to maintain my body hair but I think since it's not falling out as much it's just getting extra long and awful. It's a whole thing. This definitely happened the first time around. I remember being disgusted with myself then, too

  • @krista2 get laser hair removal!!! It is seriously the best investment I've ever made. No leg hair (knee and below), no bikini hair, and no armpit hair. So easy.
  • +1 to restless legs. I've been having trouble just sitting lately, so I pace and it drives DH crazy!! He says I make him anxious.

And I wish my hair growth was slowing down/stopping like @hkom! It definitely went the other direction, and I hate it! My hair growth was already pretty bad, especially on my face (thank you, PCOS), but it's so much worse now :disappointed: And I was hoping the pregnancy would help clear some of that up!

  • @Jens_Hoes I've thought about it! Just worried about the investment!

    @PensiveCrayon TMI spoiler box alert
I am definitely overdue for some grooming but dammmnn its hard when you can't see down there because of your belly!! I'm trying to decide whether to give up and let it go or try to attempt to clean myself up again.
  • @PensiveCrayon Definitely have been having the smells! Well, in my right armpit only.  :D The left seems to be fine. Nothing I do however, will fix the right armpit from smelling. Shaved nicely, lots of deodorant, clean shirts, tank tops instead of tee-shirts... ugh! I carry a stick of deodorant with me and put it on every 2-3 hours.

We stayed at a rental this weekend for a wedding and the bed was much softer than I was used to. I started to get hip, side and shoulder aches and woke up every hour or so needing to flip to my other side. Luckily, I don't feel pain now, but I definitely didn't get much sleep over the weekend.

Acne is the bane of my existence right now. EVERY WHERE. All of my face, it's on my neck, on my back, one on my chest.... someone please tell me they have a good solution for this!  :#

Other than that, I'm doing pretty good. Can't do much exercise with the awful smoke in the northwest from all the fires. It's recommended that people don't go outside right now except for going from one place to another, and especially not for hiking/biking/running/etc.

  • @PensiveCrayon and @kristah2 +1 on the hair! I don’t usually wax but did during the second half of last pregnancy. Because razors + blind shaving when you can’t see past your belly is not such a great idea.
  • YES @Katzalia when my OB told me at roughly 37 weeks not to shave anymore because with a csection they prefer to do it in emerg to keep things clean and sterile I immediately thought "people can still do that?!"
  • +1 on being out of breath and I also have been feeling, as of this weekend, that it's harder to get comfortable sitting or lying down because of the bump size and...I'm only going to be 25 weeks tomorrow! I can't lie down flat on my back, even for a minute, or I get nauseous, so that's fun. Still a lot of growing to do so looks like things are just gonna be uncomfortable! Also having lower back pain and some pelvic pain when walking, but luckily still mild so far.

My most annoying symptom lately is that I have no appetite, ever, but yet if I don't eat I get nauseous but I have no cue for it, so I don't realize it until I'm nauseous. It is maddening.

Reflux has been pretty decent lately though, as long as I stick to my medication and safe foods, and I haven't thrown up in a bit, so I'm very grateful for that.
  • The shortness of breath has been ridiculous lately. I got short of breath walking *downhill* from my car into work the other day! I also am getting intense RLP if I walk at anything other than a slow amble. Goes away almost instantly once I slow down.

  • I've got swelling in my left leg and ankle going on like woah.  Also pelvic pain when walking.  And my crazy pregnancy dreams are back. SO rude!
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @lexidawg You may wanna call your doc if you only have swelling in one leg.  It could be that baby is in a weird position, but I always remember one sided swelling is something to be cautious about.

  • @omnommer
I use tea tree oil for acne. Put it on where they usually come up after a shower and it gets rid of them really well. When it got really bad, I just spread it all over my face. It doesn't dry out your skin, just disinfects I think.

  • @texas_t I called and emailed earlier. Waiting on a call back!
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @omnommer this was 100% me my last pregnancy- it was so awful. I switched to the acne regimen that Rodan+Fields makes, it’s called Unblemish, and I have had zero breakouts this entire pregnancy- it’s the first time out of all 4 kids. I’m so happy it works. I’m a consultant, but I promise I’m not just trying to sell it   :D it’s seriously the only thing that has ever worked for me. Acne is so frustrating.

@PensiveCrayon and @kristah2 I gave up and decided to get waxed 2 weeks ago. Best decision ever! I feel so much more clean and knowing I don’t even have to try to mess with anything down there is such a relief. It obviously doesn’t feel great, but the lady who waxed me said that most OB’s WILL prescribe a numbing cream that’s safe to use when you’re pregnant that you put on before you go get waxed, so I plan on asking for that at my appointment next week! She said it’s called Emla.

As for me, I’m ok! Just big and uncomfortable, and SO hot! Ugh, can it please be fall now? My reflux has been so bad but thankfully I have some Zantac stashed away and that has really saved my life and I don’t want to cry everytime I eat now. Hip/pelvis pain has been real bad lately, time to go to the chiropractor.

@omnommer Have you tried any prescription stuff?  I started on azelaic acid when we began TTC because it's pregnancy-safe and, for me at least, it's been the most effective acne product I've ever used.

  • I am inexplicably exhausted. I already took a micro nap on the couch, and now I’m laying in bed yawning. Guess I’m not getting anything done today, ugh. *yawns*

  • @hkom I didn't know there was any prescription stuff that was safe! I'll ask my midwife at the next appointment about it.

@ab_canada In the meantime, I'll try tea tree oil! See if it works for me. I use it on cold sores and that helps clear them up faster. (Luckily, I haven't had a single cold sore while being pregnant yet... even without being able to take the medication for it. I thought for sure I'd have a ton with all the crazy hormonal changes!)

@omnommer Good luck!  Skin stuff is so frustrating.  My dermatologist prescribed it specifically when I told her I was going to try to get pregnant.  Apparently it can help fade melasma as well.

  • @orangecrush29 I have had acne for 14 years and Unblemished is like a miracle! I love it too!

AFM The insomnia is killer, especially when trying to keep up with a wild 2 year old. Also, I have sciatic pain again on my left side. I think I am going to start wearing tennis shoes inside because it is awful!
  • @PensiveCrayon +1 for smelling bad.  SO the other day gave me a hug after work, then pulled away and asked, "what's that smell?"  I was so embarrassed because obviously i stank like BO at work too and didn't realize it!  I HAVE noticed that I've got a much more... pungent... odor in my nether region than usual.  Nothing concerning, but definitely noticeable, different, and stronger than usual. Fun fun.  So extra showers, deodorant, and frequent underwear changes for me.

In addition, baby girl decides to do flips and practice her wrestling and/or kickboxing moves while I'm driving on a regular basis now.  Heartburn rages on.  Feet are killing me, and OMFG leg cramps today like whoa.   I think i overdid it though, so probably my fault. Too much packing, moving (just light stuff, I promise), squatting, and stair climbing for one day.  I am exhausted.  Shortness of breath for me was worst between weeks 10-15 oddly enough, but maybe it will worsen again. I hope not.  Overall, not feeling terrible, just a bit icky and sore.

  • @kristah2 Thst makes a lot of sense. I shaved right before going in last time and it took forever. I guess now I have an excuse to skip that!
  • Ugh. This is the thing I'm not looking forward to about a repeat c.  I was so out of it from hours in labor that by the time I got to the c section I hadn't a clue what was going on.  (except them taping up my fat. That was embarrassing.  :s)
