Re: 3rd trimester check-in | week of 8/6

  • I think when you are pregnant you are allowed to be selfish or a-holey every so often

I really want to buy that changing table basket from Joanna Gaine's nursery now...I'm weighing how much my husband will think it's a stupid waste of money (like decorative pillows or cute blankets) vs how much I would like to have it....hrmmm...

  • @2momshoping is a massage an option? I had an amazing one today and he asked if I wanted him to do acupressure to induce labor- yes please!! Although nothing happened the front desk girl said she has seen women come out in labor more times than she can count.

@hottietoddy my u/s tech said to make sure you are on your side because even reclining on your back at this point can put pressure on your artery, decreasing blood flow and making you feel nauseous and crummy.
    TTC since May 2013

  • Oh no! @2MomsHoping. I hope she's feeling better soon!  You're not lying tho, it really is terrible timing to have your other half down like that.  :/
  • such a sweetie!!! welcome to life on this side, baby! <3
what a story! i bet you'll be telling her that one some day

welcome to the graduates! and a whole new journey!  Looking back now, I really loved the first few weeks --everyone so excited and helping out so much. I still feel like this is all sort of surreal though and I'm 4.5 months in! The happiness is just sometimes overwhelming. I know all mothers love their babies tons but I sometimes wonder if the intensity that hits me sometimes is because of what it took to get to this point. Like I tear up multiple times during the day with good emotions...but maybe I'm just super sensitive!

@mbradfo2 I agree, I think this part of the journey is even sweeter due to what we all had to go through to get here. I also tear up several times a day just looking at my babe and am so thankful she’s here and we made it to this side. Everything was absolutely worth it when I look at her.

  • @Irisheyes81 yea!!!! So glad all is OK. She is truly beautiful. Look at those cheeks. I really am so happy to see ur update. Have been looking every day.

@2MomsHoping ugh, what a pain. Its funny, we just did our birth class yesterday and one of the things they talked about was the partner being thoughtful about their bodies-mostly in relation to support during labor, but could be any time, BC ifv they get injured or just push through something and don't or themselves in proper ergonomics, they're not going to be helpful to anyone once the baby is here and that woul suck. Anyway, I'd be pissed too. Hope she's OK soon and this baby decides to make an appearance! Sorry about having to deal with the induction thing that way. Doesn't feel like they are respecting you, but I bet you could push it a few days of you are persuasive.

Afm-THE BABY IS HEAD DOWN!!! I'm so relieved. Ended up going in late last night BC I had some really painful contractions and I just had had this nagging feeling that maybe I was going into labor. And the nurse on wed had told me to call if so BC it was important not to go into labor if I was transverse. In retrospect I remember now she said to wait until the typical 4-1-1 or 5-1-1 and these were at 7 and then 15. But I couldn't shake the concern. However, after i pooped the contractions weren't painful anymore and I think if I had taken a little more time I would have realized that it was just gastrointestinal over braxton hicks. But I called partially BC DH was telling me to call. I knew they were going to tell me to come in BC of the transverse. I actually at that point was pretty sure the baby had turned Friday BC I felt intense pressure one time while waking and a lot of heaviness into my pelvis. Anyway, at 4am we went in. I have to say DH was kind of acting not supportive at all and I was pissed. I knew by that point it was probably a false alarm but I really just needed to hear that baby was head down and I'd feel fine going home. And we were in it at that point.  So we went in, it was relatively quick, they did an US and voila- HEAD DOWN! as usual the nurse was super kind and didn't make me feel bad at all and resident who did US was good too. We were out of there by 6. At the end they wanted to do a cervical exam and I was like, is that really necessary? In my birth class they talked about how they do those a lot and if it's clear you're not in labor they mean nothing. So go me for advocating for myself. Ended up seeing the attending briefly and he was the one who had ordered the cervical exam-had been called from sleeping I believe- and when he saw me with my shoes, hoodie and purse on, he was like, you're clearly not in labor. So just checked my movement/contraction record thing and was like, yeah you're fine. So phewsh. Feeling much better and now just hoping for real labor to start in the next few weeks.

@lablover78 hang in there! Sex? Spicy food? Acupuncture? I'm sue youre trying it all.

  • @Klyn7 what I'd the legal/union limit for kinders in your district? Ours is 21+1 (whatever+1 means, I think they have to give you extra pay I'd they do 22), but 30 sounds really crazy to me. I think you should really make a stink to your administrator. But good luck tomorrow. I know how stressful the first week is, so be kind to yourself. Parent volunteers?

  • AHHHHHH @Irisheye81 the update I’ve been waiting for.  It sounds like a long and rough labor but oh my stars how you described that moment of meeting your little girl so beautiful I cried, then read it to DW and cried again.  She is so incredibly beautiful and perfect and that little smile it looks like she is just as much in love with you and your hubby as you are with her.  I’m overjoyed for all of you.  Sending you good vibes for healing, adjusting to a new life, and hopefully some privacy as you figure out your new life as a family of three :)  Looking forward to joining you on the new mommies board soon (HUGS).

@mbradfo2 treat yourself to that basket.  Soon you will be sleep deprived and covered in bodily fluids sometimes you just need something pretty to look at in the chaos.

@lablover78 I got a recommendation for a massage therapist that specializes in prenatal.  She is also a doula calling I’m going to call this morning and hope she can get me in.  I hope it works!  I guess the worst case scenario is I will be relaxed with a massage so I really don’t see any downside to trying J

@mbradfo2, @businesswife, @gfgrump DW is doing a little better after an adjustment on Saturday, she’s going in again today and is now at least able to walk around, so getting better.  It is a huge relief that we have a doula on call so someone can help me get up/move around during labor if DW can’t.  My anger has quelled since she is doing everything in her power to try and get herself back on the mend.

@gfgrump I think GI issues and labor is pretty much impossible to differentiate until the GI resolves itself.   Besides it was great that you went in because now you know baby is head down.  YAY!
