@nottodaysatan, I probably would have freaked out too. Too many elevator related horror movie scenes!
Ugh. Just need to vent for a minute. At my woro, I'm in charge of scheduling parties, so that means confirming coaches to work those parties. I asked every coach we have and literally no one responded to me. So I asked two of them in person and the one seriously just walked away from me and the other girl asked me what the first had said. I swear, it's a simple question, do you want to work and make money or not? Grr. I feel like they dislike me being in charge of it since I don't work the parties, but I have a kid who I like to spend time with on the weekends and prior commitments weekly. Gahh, teenagers/young adults....
Oh no, @dapoint23, that's the worst! Our freezer broke a few months back and we lost a lot of food... do you have coolers you can keep the not-as-perishable things in?
@dapoint23 I think that’s my worst nightmare right now. I’m literally eating everything and if my fridge broke I don’t know how I would survive. Fingers crossed it’s something easily fixable and you don’t have to splurge for a new one!
@dapoint23 I hope you find an alternative that works for you. I've taken Lexapro throughout my other pregnancies. I have no plans of going off of it this time, either. Take care of yourself!
Y’all. DH is at work and I texted him a whiny message about not being able to go to the bathroom since yesterday morning (those prenatals are already kicking in!) His response? “Get some pizza. Pizza sounds good.” When I questioned what pizza had to do with anything, he actually said that I should keep pizza in the freezer and bake a slice whenever I need to go. “That should do the trick.” What on earth?????
I've got an awful headache keeping me up right now. I have an all-day, off-site training tomorrow that I'm really not looking forward to, and I know I should go to sleep so I don't nod off at any point, but I can't drag myself to my room.
@kangstadt@MRDCle I don’t really know what his reasoning was, either. The funny part is that he was 100% serious! He’s ridiculous, but it sure did give me a good laugh today
@MRDCle, I had DH buy a huge jar the other day cause all we had was ibuprofen and my head had mini jack hammers going to town in there. I feel ya, get that Tylenol sooner rather than later!
@sdelg09, one of my favorite things about my husband is that he can always make me laugh. Unless I'm suuuper pissed at him...
@BarefootContessa I'm craving carbs like crazy which is crazy because I've been keto since April 30th! I just figured I'd give in and it would all sort itself out later.
@sdelg09 HAHA. I love the logic. To be fair, pizza gets DH going, but that's because he's lactose-intolerant... @dapoint23 Oh no. I hope your fridge gets fixed soon!
I got chewed out in the parking lot today. Lady in her early twenties was walking through the parking lot at a serious snail's pace with her eyes glued to her phone. Me in my car carefully pulled into a parking space in front of her. Yes, I drove through her projected walking path, but she was far away and was far from danger. She didn't even have to slow her (snail) roll. BUT she was startled to "suddenly" see my car in front of her. She said, "Did you seriously just do that? That is seriously disrespectful to see me walking and then just drive in front of me and cut me off."
Mostly I'm just upset that I didn't have a snappy comeback. Didn't feel like it's my style to have parking lot altercations, though, so I mostly just rolled my eyes and carried on with my life. I'm happy that I can vent here.
@loveanddatadriven, ugh, that's irritating. I hate getting stuck behind someone walking and texting when they obviously aren't paying any attention to what they're doing. Especially silly to do it in a parking lot or road!
@loveanddatadriven I would have been so annoyed if that happened to me. I would have told her that if she didn't have her head so far into her phone she would have seen that I was paying attention and she had plenty of space. I seriously roll my eyes at people who are too consumed in their phones to look at what they are doing, if they get hurt they have no one to blame but themselves.
I'm the matron of honor is one of my best friend's wedding over labor day weekend. As thrilled as I am to be pregnant, I'm also not looking forward to being pimplely and bloated in all the photos. Also I'm white af and had planned to get a spray tan but now that's out the window. And I'm a big wine person and I'm going to be in Sonoma all weekend and not able to drink. :sigh:
Had my first ob apt today. Starting on baby aspirin now, but my BP was already higher than usual (it was still nice and low, I just noticed that it was higher than it had been my last few doctors appoints). Does anyone know how much normal variation there is in BP from day to day? I know we aren't doctors here... but is going from 98 to 120 a normal amount of variation? (Again, I know, I know, ask my doctor). My official due date will be in April, but she thinks I should count on delivering in March. This is posing major challenges for me professionally already. Ugh.
@BarefootContessa no, sorry wasn't clear. This is second baby, third pregnancy. Had pregnancy induced hypertension with previous baby. So, highly likely to have it again. Which is why I'm nervous about the higher BP. I did send my doc a message. And I actually just heard back! She said it's normal for BP to be higher at a first visit, but that it's too early for me to be worried that the pregnancy is really affecting my BP. So - sigh of relief.
I like thinking about how all the little babies that are going to go through the April 19 BMB have all been conceived by now. The mamas just don't know they're pregnant or haven't found our group yet!
@professormama I hear you about the difficult professional timing. As of my own calculations I'll be due 4/14 (confirming via US next week!) and hopefully I'll deliver on time or late. Much earlier than that would be catastrophic for my job and I knew that but we'd been trying for so long I wasn't willing to give up a chance when I knew I was ovulating in July!
@scp2585 we felt exactly the same way. The timing wasn’t right- but who can actually plan timing down to the month??? It just wasn’t happening.
I think I’m going to teach online classes, which will help. But I’ll still end up working after giving birth until the semester is over. We don’t have anyone who can “substitute” my classes.
@professormama good luck! I'm a high school drama director and there isn't anyone to "sub" my role either. I'm contracted to have our Spring show first weekend in April when I'll either be 100 months pregnant or having just given birth.
Anyone have any tips for NOT telling you’re pregnant? We haven’t told anyone yet and would like to wait a few more weeks (only at 5 weeks now) my husbands aunt and uncle are in town from Seattle and we have plans to go out with them tonight. Their teenage sons are watching our 2 year old and they picked a brewery to eat at... pretty clear they want to have drinks and they know I usually enjoy a few adult beverages so it will definitely raise eyebrows if I’m not drinking— thinking we should probably just be honest since I don’t really want to make up a lie and we won’t have another opportunity to tell them in person. But my husband doesn’t want to tell them unless we tell the rest of the family too.... ugh what to do?
@jmesue1030, ugh, that's always hard! I had a bunch of family in town this week also and I almost spilled the beans twice. With my family though, I know that if I tell one person, suddenly everyone will know and someone else will be upset they didn't know first (I know, silly drama, but that's how it is). Since I want to tell everyone with a cute announcement in my own way, I bit my tongue.
If you decide to tell them, I'm sure they'll be super stoked to hear about it in person! Not sure how else you avoid the alcohol problem. Maybe you say you're taking antibiotics (I think I've heard that?) or something and you're not supposed to indulge? Or take a non-alcoholic beer/drink with you... hmm. Guess that would be hard at a brewery. Sorry I can't be of more help, but I feel your pain!
