@kayjay44 Ahhh!! I missed your video! That is the cutest!! I may have a similar video if this baby ends up being a boy and she already has a sister so she can’t even complain
This was our daughter’s announcement. I was due Christmas Day. Not covering last name cuz it’d take a troll the rest of their life to figure out which Garcia family we are.

My internet sleuthing skills are pretty on point...
Hi ladies! My board is just getting started and I'm an overplanner (that's an understatement, hah), was wondering if you ladies had any suggestions for announcing to out of state family. Do/did you do anything different to announce or did you mail/email/call everyone to tell them?
I'm trying to plan for our announcement since I have a huge family (youngest of 8) and we don't have any big family get togethers coming up, which in the past is when siblings/in-laws usually announce by handing out a picture announcement. There are some siblings who will be hurt if they're "the last to know." Sigh. It's also our second, so I want to include my DS in the announcement to my parents in person. Thanks so much for your help ladies!
@kangstadt You could go old school and mail pregnancy announcements. A cute picture with baby #1. Maybe a small gift. Then no one can complain about being last because you don't control the mail.
@kangstadt, do you have a family WhatsApp group chat? That’s what I do if I want to send everyone a message, and what I might do once we find out the gender.
I am not sure about announcing online but we will see later on when I have a bump and feel a bit more confident. After my 12 week scan we are announcing to my mum and dad (assuming all goes well) I was going to sneak a scan pic into our holiday pictures and show them that way.
@kangstadt my family is not even out of state but I sent my close family a group text with an announcement picture (DD in a big sister shirt) at the same time that DH sent a group text with the same picture to his family.
Thanks for the ideas ladies! I'm thinking I'll take a picture with DS holding a onesie that says "new to the cousin crew" and send it to everyone in the mail, after announcing to my parents in person and then DH will call his (significantly smaller) family. I'm going to try to wait until 12 weeks if I'm not showing before then but I'm terrible at keeping secrets!
@conchispitita, we don't have any kind of group app, everyone is on FB except one sister, and one brother doesn't have a cell phone so texting is out too. They like to make it complicated, haha.
Last time I just told people as I encountered them and that worked pretty well. I didn’t announce on social media until I was 7 months. I will probably do something similar this time too.
Last pregnancy I waited until I was around 15 weeks to tell anyone besides my mom and husband this time around though I couldn’t keep my mouth shut about it and ended up posting on social media at only 9 weeks because I lack impulse control this pregnancy. I originally was going to wait till the 12 week mark in case of anything but I had two ultrasounds already and heard the heart beat already so I just said screw it and posted it.
We called and told my parents immediately, and my father-in-law lives with us, so he found out when we found out (it was a loud occasion, lol) Being the giant bookworm and Harry Potter nerd, we posted this on FB a few days after my 1st ultrasound measured at 10 weeks.

I am not sure about the execution of all of it yet, but I do have this shirt.
*edited because the bump ate my post.
We'll only use this for close friends and family. I don't do social media announcements. I am of the mindset that if I am not telling you personally, you don't need to be that far into my business!
Posted this (along with a few more) tonight! I was going to wait until after Friday’s appointment to see if the SCH has shrunk, but my husband calmed me down from that anxiety. So excited to shout it from the rooftops!
You ladies are so creative and cute! I have a huge lack of creativity and no real ideas for this announcement. We sent a picture of DS playing with magnets and "big brother" mixed in the letters but haven't decided when/what we will post to social media.
Turns out H was really disappointed that I didn't want to do a Facebook announcement! I had no idea he felt so strongly about it, and since it's no big deal for me we'll do it after all. Now I just have to figure out something to do!

DH & I had a wedding photography business so we went with this onesie to announce with our first.
Then, with our second, we snapped this on a Disney Trip and posted it when we came home from our trip. BRB awhile I go feel all the feels because that little girl has grown up TOO much in the last 4 years.
Husband and I love to travel so it was only fitting to do a travel themed announcement! We waited until 13 weeks to announce on social media, but told our parents and close friends as soon as we found out!
i had a friend of mine paint a pink and blue ombré canvas saying “Baby (our last name) Arriving February 2019” and used the ultrasound picture and a gender neutral baby stuffed animal as props and a soft grey blanket as the background. super simple announcement idea for social media especially because it’s our first!
Catching up on this thread and omg loving all of it! Just wanted to share that my sister also has developmental disabilities although she is high functioning and she takes care of my son. She Ioves being an aunt too and she. Cried when we told her. My husband wants to wait forever for a social media post ...I’m trying to do it in the next two weeks. Most of our close family and friends know anyway lol
@danixbanani24 Tell your H there’s no point in waiting longer this late in the game! People will find out at some point anyway when you start showing. I wanted to wait a couple more weeks before I told work, but after deciding we were announcing on social media over the weekend, I had to do it last Friday since I have coworkers on Facebook. Turns out that was the right call, no less than four people in the office had already figured it out on their own. They were like “I was wondering when you’d say something!”. And I thought I was being so stealthy!
