Hey ladies! Post your name ideas or ask for opinions here! My husband is useless at giving me feedback, so even though it's early, I need someone to share ideas with!
We have a boy name picked, but my husband is useless at girls names. He doesn't like anything I suggest. Our last name is hyphenated and long, so I want either a single syllable name or something that has a cute nickname. Our son's name is very unique, and I don't like top 100 names. (I'm a coach, so I see a couple hundred kids a week... for awhile, I had so many Kaylyn/Caitlin/Kinsley/Kaylee, gah!) Here's what I like...
Brynn Fae Terryn (hubby likes this, I'm not as sold anymore. We had it as an option for our first pregnancy and it's lost some appeal for me) Sage Ren/Wren Selene
Any thoughts? I'm still stuck on a middle name. We wanted to honor DH best friend (Logan) and we'll use it for a boy middle name; I don't mind the idea of using it for a girl, just not sure of the flow.
@kangstadt - I like Brynn, Fae (though I prefer Faye), and Wren. Selene is my fave, and I do not like Terryn. Sage if ok but the only Sage I know is a boy so it’s harder for me to associate with a girl!
@kangstadt, I agree with @MRDCle pretty much on the dot. My friends daughters name is spelled Faye and I love it. My friends wifes name is Erin but she goes by Wren. I think Selene is my favorite as well but that's because I play final fantasy and it's relevant to me. Lol
@MRDCle, I had a little girl in classes years ago that was named Emery Sage, and I've loved the name ever since, haha. What possible nickname would you do for Selene though? I also had Reyn (pronounced like rain) on my list, but DH nixed it.
@nottodaysatan, I had Navi on my list but DH said no to that as well, haha. We're video game nerds also!
@MRDCle, I LOVE Naomi. It has such a pretty flow to it. I'm less excited about Neil, but that's just personal preference. What are you thinking for middle names?
For Naomi I REALLY want Róisín - Rose is a family name for both of us, and using the Irish version seems like a nice nod to my heritage, and for Neil (which is for my grandparents), DH would like to use George (fam name as well).
One of my daughters is Naomi! I love it but I'm shocked how many people don't know how to spell it. And some people get hung up on "Is it Nay-omi or Nye-omi?" Uuuh I don't care. Say it fast enough and it doesn't really matter.
H is Jewish and the kids are and will be converted. We'd like a Hebrew name that is still common. H has a huge list and we've narrowed it down. We're both more focused on boy names.
Me: 31 H: 36 L & N twin girls: 3yo. Born at 30 weeks. 2 month NICU stay BFP Aug 2018: EDD April 2019
We already know the first name if it’s a girl, Morgan. It’s a nod to my MIL, she passed away 2 years ago and it was her maiden name. She had 3 boys and always wanted to name a girl Morgan. We are undecided on middle names or boys names.
My fiancé and I are having issues with boy names he is so picky but we have our girl name picked out one of the names we had on our list we adored was Addison. I have a little girl named Shaylee and a son named Brody we call them Shay and Bo
Loving all the special meanings! I've considered Lynn as a middle name to honor DH's mom, but it also sounds very rhyme-y with some of the names I like (Ren, Logan, etc.).
Love the name Shay, @csealyn. We know someone with that name so I'm not sure I can convince DH to consider it for our peanut... I have such a hard time finding names that have no bad/random associations for us!
we talked about Roman Avery if it’s a boy and Rory Ophelia if it’s a girl ( middle name is still up for discussion because DH still hates it). We are keeping with the R name theme since our first child.
@csealyn, ooh, Odessa is pretty. That might have to go on my list, haha. And I like Lane, I agree with @MRDCle that Mason is good too but very popular. If that's not something you're worried about, use it! Or you could always use it as a middle name. Also, just personally, I think of Lane as a girl's name, but that's due to Gilmore Girls .
Thanks ladies I appreciate your advice so much @kangstadt I’m glad you like Odessa it just flows nicely and is unique. My favorite is Landon and his favorite is Dustin hopefully we can find something we both like I’m also open to suggestions.
@berky84, I love Owen! And the flow of yours name is really nice.
Same here, I'll probably change my mind a billion times before then, but hopefully we have something picked before going into the hospital! My sister had it narrowed down to two and put a poll outside the door for the nurses after her son was born, haha.
I have LOVED the name Cora since I was a child but 2 girls I knew in school have already named their daughters and now I think I'm turned off to the name. I like vintage-y sounding names or names from Literature. I was named after a song and I've always loved having that story, I want my future son or daughter to have a name story too. DH has a really common last name for the area we live in but mine is very unique and VERY French. We will be using my maiden name for our child(ren)'s middle name which will affect flow. We are BOTH teachers and ideally would like to have names that we haven't also seen as students but that really narrows down the list.
@scp2585, I love Corinne and Nico! Cash is cute too. I teach also, so I totally get the problem with wanting a name you haven't heard before or have associations with.
Boy is Declan Samuel most likely, I love the name and the middle is after my dad. For a girl we have no idea. Maybe it'll work out the way it did last time. We only had a girl name picked and that's what we needed.
Love the names ladies! I have always been a fan of Ophelia @harveyisaboysname and I have never thought of Rory as short for Aurora @kangstadt I really love that!
So I have two girls and they both have more classic first names with fun nicknames - which is likely how we will try to go with the third. Their middle names are also named after our respective grandmothers:
Madeleine Claire - nn Maddie Eloise Grace - nn Ellie
So far, we like: Gwendolyn - nn Winnie Josephine - nn Josie Addison - nn Addy Liliana - nn Lily
My DH won't even consider thinking about boys names until we find out the sex. He is Norman Richard III. Kill me now if we have a boy!
Also, I wanted to offer this fun resource - an app called BabyName. I found it late in my pregnancy with my second DD. It is basically a Tinder for baby names lol. You sync up your account with your partner and it brings up a name and you swipe left if you don't like it and right if you do. It keeps a list of your favorites and notifies you when your partner likes the same name. It is kind of nice you can do it on your own so your DH isn't automatically dissing names you like. I really like it.

@MRDCle, but Cordelia is so pretty! I hate when DH nixes my ideas without even an explanation. Ugh. You could always play the "I carried it for nine months and pushed it out..." card . Maybe for a middle name?
@socks2819, I love Gwendolyn! I have Elowyn on my list, nickname Wynnie also. I saw that app mentioned on a previous bump month board. I may have to look into it!
I have an Elinor nn Ellie - it’s the family spelling but I like how it’s a little less common, even though I can point to Jane Austen and Sense & Sensability when people ask if I just spelled it wrong.
@lyse01 Eleanor is a great name and I love the different spelling! We did the same with Madeleine and people spell it wrong all the time. I just always loved the french spelling.
@harveyisaboysname Thanks! I love your names as well. Naming a kid is hard. Agreeing with DH - even worse!

Good choices guys! DH and I are on different planets when it comes to names, so we aren't even discussing it yet. DS was easy to name, DD's name was left over from when we had DS. Our third we couldn't agree on anything to save our lives, and so we named him after both of our fathers. I worry we'll never have a name for this little peanut.

I don't know HOW they ended up both N names but whatever I guess.
For context - DS shares first AND middle with the newest prince (And Kate didn't even consult me before using our son's name! HOW RUDE!

@scp2585 and @lyse01, I teach two sisters, Cordelia and Kalliope (nn Kalli). I've always loved both of their names!
