@becca07024411 I know what you mean! My dr gives everyone Valium around 45 mins before transfer. The 1st FET I took it and didn't like it because it made me loopy and didn't feel like I could enjoy the process. This last time, I took only 1/2 and was 100 times better! If you know you are sensitive to things and don't like them, I'd only do 1/2 the pill. It helps relax your uterus, etc...so only reason I even took 1/2 this time.

@kristimh80 thanks for the feedback. I did really enjoy the process of being 100% coherent and able to appreciate the experience and would hate to miss out on it being loopy, I have just heard so much anecdotal evidence from people of it helping I figured I would entertain the idea. I may bite the bullet and cut it up and try 1/4 this evening to see the effect and if it all goes okay then go with either 1/4 or 1/2 tomorrow.
@becca07024411 - I was told that Valium helps relax the cervix and uterus, which is helpful for transfer. Definitely try half of the pill to see how you do with it.
AFM, through trial and error with a "difficult cervix" and painful transfers, they have me up to 3 of those pills - 5mg and then another 10mg a half hour later. My doctor said that some people would be a "noodle" with that amount, but I don't feel loopy or out of it at all. Just a bit more relaxed, and it wears off quickly. (And I'm usually a lightweight with medications.) It's worth a try to see how you feel with it.

@becca07024411 My doc has recommended it for me everytime. My first two transfers took 45 minutes to complete because I have a tilted uterus, which makes it difficult to navigate. So, you can imagine how uncomfortable and even painful it is when the doc is poking around up there and can't get to where he needs to be for 45 minutes!! So, I took it all three times. The third time they gave me 10mg (instead of 5mg) and I felt so much better going into it. I was super relaxed and it only took the doc 10 minutes. So, I am all for taking it, but you know your body better than anyone else, so if it makes you feel even more anxious, then I wouldn't take it.
@becca07024411 I had the same experience as @amy8686. I’m usually super sensitive to meds, alcohol, you name it! But I took the whole Valium and barely felt any different. I thought I’d be out of it but wasn’t at all.
Wow I have a lot of catching up to do on this board! Love the continuous flow here.
@tinjp78 I really admire you, the way you continue to show support for others despite what you've gone through. Again, was in your shoes back in May. It took a little bit of time to grieve, but please don't give up. It's easy for me to say that, but just keep swimming.
Quick update for those who asked about my 6 week ultrasound, which was today. Spoiler below.
Saw the baby's heartbeat, and the HR is 118. I was so scared because I don't have any symptoms and the last time I had my beta was at 11dpt. The wait is so anxiety-ridden! I was really emotional because I was taken by surprise. I didn't think we would be able to see the heartbeat this early and the tiny flicker popped up immediately. Next appointment will be in 2 weeks for my 8 week sono.
@amy8686 Did you have a complicated transfer too? I have a "difficult cervix" too, which my doctor thinks was a contributing factor in my first FET failing. My transfer took almost 1 hour the first time. With a full bladder, it was torture!
@bebesparrow Congrats!!! How awesome! So excited for you
I went in for my 2nd beta this morning... Spoiler below.
My 2nd beta came in at 444. Super excited, thrilled, ecstatic... I've never made it this far before. 1st Ultrasound will be 8/16. I'll be counting down the days!
@kimberlyshae congrats!! Am I the only one who's clinic has then do 3 beta before scheduling US??
@bebesparrow ah so exciting, congrats!! That makes me feel better because I have not been having many symptoms and it's been making me a little anxious, but it sounds like that is pretty common

@suziev3 - Good luck, transfer buddy! Hope it went well!
@bebesparrow - Congrats on the heartbeat! What a relief. Thankfully, my transfer wasn't too complicated this time. I had an awful trial transfer and my previous actual transfers have been tricky, but I guess my doctor learned from that how to maneuver around in there. And I'm sure the 15mg of Valium helped. My full bladder was pretty uncomfortable, but it only took a minute of poking around to get it in. Super quick. We went out to lunch and now I'm on couch-potato rest at least for the end of the day.

Good morning ladies, sorry if this is tmi and potential tw but I am freaking out..
last night and and this morning I have been spotting quite a bit. I have pretty much been up all night worrying, my clinic does not open for an hour. It is brown spotting, not red, but I am literally terrifyed that this is the start of another CP. I feel like I shouldn’t go into work today but I have so much to do, I also don’t know if I should just lay here and stress out all day. Of course I’m calling my dr as soon as their opening but I guess just looking for some reassurance here. I am also having some cramps (feels like AF is coming) but I know some cramps are normal so don’t want to read into every little thing here..!
@leilee101 brown spotting can be very normal. I’d definitely call ASAP and I’m sure they’ll have you come in and check you out for reassurance - FX it’s nothing.
About me: *TW*
Me:
34, DH: 38
TTC #1 June of 2014 9/14 BFP, baby boy EDD 5/18/15.
Elias (Eli) born 5/13/15 7lb0oz, 19 inches.
Surprise BFP 10/15, live
ectopic, lost ruptured tube on 11/5/15 at 8 weeks
Started TTC #2 2/16
HSG 1/18 after no BFPs- diagnosed w/ tubal infertility and referred to RE
@mayflower513 thanks girl, the clinic said the same thing. They want me to monitor throughout the day and call if it gets heavy or if it becomes bright red, and come in the morning for blood work (they do labs super early in the morning so I missed today’s). They can’t do US until next week bc it’s still too early (I’m like 5 weeks 2 days). I’m usually not a stressed person/worrier but IF has really messed with my head for the past year, I really just pray I am overreacting and everything is ok in there.
@leilee101 Try not to stress... I know that's impossible, but try your best. 3 days ago your beta was in the 1300's. Hopefully that embryo is just diggin in and holding on tight which is causing the spotting. Stay positive! You got this! Let us know how it goes tomorrow
@leilee101 I know it must be really scary, and unfortunately all these symptoms a>re considered normal and it just makes it even that much more stressful. If you do go in to work I hope it will be able to provide
a little distraction so you don’t drive yourself crazy.
@leilee101 Try not to stress too much! Brown spotting is just old blood, so it maybe from when your embryo implanted. There are many women that spot during the entire pregnancy. ((hugs))

Thank you ladies, I honestly think I would be a crazy person without all of you. Dr said to take it easy and that bedrest isn’t necessary but if it makes me feel better it can’t hurt. So I’ve put myself on bedrest today lol, Thursday’s are my only office based day so I can get some work done from home. The fact that it’s all brown is helping me to relax, I’ve read a couple midwife blogs that say how normal that is especially after IVF.
Yes! Totally normal. But I agree, still terrifying after everything you've been through. I think bed rest is a great idea.
I'll throw in that even if it turns red, things can still turn out just fine. I had bright red bleeding when I was 8 weeks pregnant with my son, and after a few hours of lying down, it turned to brown and then stopped.
Hang in there.

@bebesparrow - That is wonderful to hear! I am very happy for you.
@kimberlyshae - Great numbers! I bet you are feeling fantastic. Another huge hurdle passed. Yeah it is funny how so much if focused on the two week wait, but after you pass that hurdle, you have many more after that you have to "wait" for and feel like forever!
@amy8686 - Happy to hear your transfer went smoothly. Welcome to being PUPO!
@leilee101 - Sorry you are seeing blood. That is always so scary in pregnancy, but surprisingly not as uncommon as you would think. The fact that it is brown is definitely a good sign. I think you made a good choice to take rest. That is great that you can do some work from home.
On the subject of difficult transfers, I'd like to share the story of my first transfer as I rarely have the right audience to share a story like this. Apparently I had a stenotic cervix (very narrow) which was discovered during my practice transfer. Multiple physicians tried to pass through my cervix, but partially because it is stenotic, but also because it had an S shape no one was able to get through. So they ended up using a laminary (which is a small cylindar made of seaweed) to put in my cervix for a few days to prop it open and shape it better for my transfer. They removed it maybe 4-5 days befoe my transfer (which those details I am going to leave out even for this audience because that was just terrible). Then to make sure that everything went extra smooth on transfer day they put me under anesthesia! Apparently even with anesthesia I had cried out in the middle of the procedure.
** TW** Forunately that transfer was a success, because I don't know if I could have put myself through that ever again. Now after having a natural delivery my cervix is just fine and this transfer was a breeze! **TW**
@Chrysalis7 Wow, that is crazy!!! I've never heard of that! Our bodies are just a huge mystery. LOL! Glad that everything went well on this last transfer.
Quick question: Is anyone else drinking excessive amounts of water? I have literally been drinking about 12 glasses a day. I'm constantly thirsty. Just curious if anyone else was experiencing the same.
@Chrysalis7 holy crap that’s such a crazy story! I’m glad it straightened itself out after delivering a baby, that would suck to have to go through that again.
@kimberlyshae I have been pretty thirsty too, making sure I drink plenty of water. Listen to your body.. You’re drinking for two now
thanks again everyone for for calling me down. The spotting has stopped for several hours now and I feel much better. I have an insurance hiccup and if I go in tomorrow I would have to pay 189, if I wait until Monday it will be free. I’m considering paying it just for peace of mind ..

@leilee101 I know it must be really scary, and unfortunately all these symptoms a>re considered normal and it just makes it even that much more stressful. If you do go in to work I hope it will be able to provide a little distraction so you don’t drive yourself crazy.

I'll throw in that even if it turns red, things can still turn out just fine. I had bright red bleeding when I was 8 weeks pregnant with my son, and after a few hours of lying down, it turned to brown and then stopped.
Hang in there.

Quick question: Is anyone else drinking excessive amounts of water? I have literally been drinking about 12 glasses a day. I'm constantly thirsty. Just curious if anyone else was experiencing the same.
